PenFed Offering Free FICO?

I'm not sure if this is the right sub-forum, but I hope it's close enough. I logged in to my PenFed account and was given a notification of a new feature, viewing my FICO score! Here's a screenshot of what it looked like on the overview page:  I followed the link and was shown my "FICO NextGen Score", as well as a page with some links to resources about learning how credit scores work etc. Unfortunately though I couldn't find anything on the page indicating what bureau it was from. But here's what it looked like:
Does anyone else have this? Is it perhaps common knowledge? I just noticed it today and hadn't heard of it before, so hopefully it's a new think for all members.

They've given that score for a long time now.  Nothing newAh, my apologies then! I hadn't seen it before, and it had a little "new" tag on the image, so I thought it was. Sorry for the spam thread! No need to apologize and your post isn't anything close to spam.  Just so you know the score that they give is a Fico Score based on Equifax.  The NextGen score was developed in 2001 and almost no one uses it except PenFed.  And when I say that they given that score for while, it was early 2014 when they started providing it. And it says 'new' on it because they just updated the score the other day.Thank you very much, that's helpful and appreciated.

Notice how the most recent month in the chart is June, but it's now practically August.  Yep, that's just about how Citi's free scores work.  At least they're honest. BTW didn't even know this card was still alive.  This one was my very first default back in '94.  Back when you could keep switching long distance companies twice a week and collect $50 cash bonus each time.  Some things never change....You took the words right out of my mouth. I was thinking the same thing. That was my first credit card and it was the one I defaulted on sometime back in the mid or late 90s.

Get onto the integrated iOS + Mac OS and end support for "legacy" Mac 10.8 and earlier.
Force older hardware users like me to upgrade to new hardware which is where $$ are.
Make apps work across tablets, phone, and computer with similar (though not the "same" app, but able to read and use the same file format).
    Simplify.
I don't think anyone incl. Microsoft knew Windows 8.1 was going to be a free upgrade, I didn't and read that it would be more like $30.
No OS is ready for everyone on the day it is launched. iOS 7 is now 7.04 and climbing, Mac OS tends to really not be ready until the last patch and version is out, often a year or more after it was first issued. Ship it, then plan to fix the bugs left in or that surface.
www.macperformanceguide.com is saying "No" to Maverick for now. Of course there will be no "No" on new Mac Pro 2013 6,1 when those ship (Late Jan? )

  • Nokia offers FREE plug-ins for some devices not supported by iSync 2.4

Nokia is now offering free plug-ins for otherwise unsupported Nokia mobile handsets in Mac OS X 10.4.9 and iSync 2.4 configurations. All support both Bluetooth and USB synchronization, and work only with Mac OS X 10.4.9 and iSync 2.4, bundled with it. The plug-ins listed below can be downloaded from Nokia here:
    http://www.nokia.com/A4299040
    Supported models include the…
    • E50
    • E60
    • E61i
    • E65
    • E70
    • N76
    • N93i
    • N95

That's a good point, and I should have taken the time to point that out.
It's not particularly important that Nokia has chosen to offer free plug-ins for a limited number of their mobile handsets not presently supported by iSync. The really important thing here is that a manufacturer has actually chosen to support the technology at all!
I do support a vibrant developer community, and think that Nova Media and others who have taken the time to create plug-ins and, who continue to support them, deserve to be compensated for their efforts. It worth noting that Nova Media was out front with support for Nokia mobile handsets about a year before Nokia itself chose to offer support. And, as Jan points out, they continue to support units that Nokia itself does not.

  • Is it permissible to offer free IOS apps backed by paid subscription services?

    Hello,
I was wondering if it's permissible according to Apple's guidelines and standards to offer free IOS apps that interact with online services that are paid for outside of the Apple ecosystem.  Apps for Netflix and Dropbox, to name a few, seem to suggest this is perfectly reasonable.  I was hoping that someone could point me towards the appropriate standard or guideline that spells this out expliclty.
    Thanks in advance,
    Mike

I must apologize for my reply. Somehow I read that you were looking to use a 3rd party advertising platform. I don't know where that came from.
You can certainly connect to a non-Apple, paid service. What trips people up is that you can't have a link to sign up for said paid service. If users are able to sign up directly in the app, they must do it through the App Store. It is a very good idea to have a native login to said service as well. If you use WebKit then the website could display a "sign up now" button that would get your app rejected.
All of the details are in the guidelines and developer agreement. You need a developer account to see them but people have posted then all over the Internet. In the developers site, they are listed right up at the top.

  • Is Apple Still Offering Free 'Retro' Apps For iLife 08?

I'm reasonably disappointed with Apple's latest version of iLife. I had heard that they were offering free downloads of the separate apps that would restore the functionality and interface of the previous version. Are they still offering that option, and what is the URL to access the downloads?
    Thanks in advance,
    DJ Gleason

as far as I am aware they have only offered iMovie 6 ad a free download to iLife '08 owners - http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/imovieHD6.html

  • Does Verizon offer free calls to family/friends not on verizon like other companies?

Does Verizon offer free calls to family/friends not on verizon like other companies?  I recently added my boyfriend. We thought it would be ok if he called his family at night to keep in touch. We thought that the long standing 'Free nights & weekends' would keep us in the safe zone.  that was obviously not the case. I hate to tell that he can't talk to them as much as he does.  I'd rather not increase the plan. His family members either have landlines or with different cell phone companies.
Any recommendations?  And has Verzon done away with Free nights & weekends?
    Thanks,
    animatdjul

Yes Verizon Wireless offer calling plans that include Friends and Family. We have a single plan of 900 minutes that include 5 numbers to F&F and we have family share plans 1400 minutes and 2000 minutes that include 10 F&F numbers to add to your list. The promotion include cellphones that are not within the Verizon Wireless Network, landlines, and 800 numbers. The plans  do not include numbers added  outside of the United States..Hope this information helps!

Cash back will be awarded in the form of a statement credit. To receive your $100 statement credit, you must make at least $1000 in purchases between July 27, 2015 and October 15, 2015 with the credit card referenced above. Usually a footnote is a smaller "superior number" but that one just looked like they hit 1 instead of ! which is the Shift-1. Anyway, now I can sleep better tonight It is a superior number in the email.  No idea why it doesn't copy and paste that way.  Lithium problems I assume.  Enjoy your unemcumbered sleep :-)

  • ATT and Starbucks to offer "free" wifi

I read this in the NY Times this morning :>)
    http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/12/technology/12sbux.html?_r=1&ref=business&oref= slogin
SEATTLE (AP) — Starbucks and AT&T said Monday that they would start offering a mix of free and paid wireless Internet service in most of Starbucks’s American shops, beginning this spring.

Bits: Cheaper Wi-Fi Access at Starbucks (February 11, 2008)
The move ends a six-year partnership with T-Mobile, which did not include free Wi-Fi and charged higher fees than AT&T will.
Starbucks said it would give customers who use a Starbucks card two hours of free wireless access a day. An additional two-hour session will cost $3.99; monthly memberships will cost $19.99 and include access to any of AT&T’s 70,000 hot spots worldwide.
Nearly all of AT&T’s broadband Internet customers, about 12 million people, will automatically have unlimited free Wi-Fi access at Starbucks, the companies said. The deal will increase the number of AT&T hot spots in the United States to 17,000.
Current T-Mobile HotSpot customers — who pay $6 for an hourlong session, $9.99 for a day pass and $39.99 a month for unlimited access — will get Wi-Fi access at no extra charge through an agreement between AT&T and T-Mobile.
Chris Bruzzo, Starbucks’s chief technology officer, would not disclose how many customers used the T-Mobile service in Starbucks stores, but said he expected many more would use the new service. Starbucks will start introducing it this spring and aims to have it available in its more than 7,000 company-operated domestic stores by the end of the year.
Robert Toomey, an analyst with E. K. Riley Investments, said it was smart for Starbucks to link the new Wi-Fi service to its purchase card, which tens of millions of people use to buy their mochas and lattes, he said.
“I think it’s a double positive for both product sales and traffic,” Mr. Toomey said.

I heard that as a rumor, but who knows.

  • Offer - free print book for English genius

I'm about to publish the beautiful, so worthy of reading The Richest Man in Babylon.
This book has been edited, by me, in digital media, and in print, line by line, word by word. However, after the 1000th quotation mark, within quotation mark, within quotaion mark (third person quoted within one paragraph) . . .  In short, I would still like another set of eyes.
So, I am offering one free print book to be sent to your place of work or residence; read the book, relax, enjoy (as it is clean and beyond useful). In exchange, I would like your eyes. You must know quotation rules like the  back of your hand.
    I will forever be grateful.
    It is a great book.
Someone wonderful, please take the offer.
I will be back with the link.

When my 17" macbook pro was replaced (16 months old), I dealt with Customer Relations. They emailed me details of exactly what was agreed upon over the phone, and actually I asked for a 15" model, because I wanted the 15" and not the 17". They had me sign an agreement for the change to the 15" model. Also, my original macbook pro still had applecare extended warranty and they gave me a choice to either transfer the remainder to my new one or to get reimbursed. I asked to be reimbursed, and then re-purchased applecare for the new macbook pro.
I am very pleased that I got the newer model and it is much better than my original one.
that is most of what i can tell you of my experience, which is different, since I was dealing with Customer Relations via phone.
there is at least one person who posted on this forum that said that Applecare agreed to give them the applecare extended warranty at no extra cost for the new unit.
    hope that helps-
