Performace monitor

Hi,
Is there any way to monitor if there any change in the performace after optimizing
the page check seconds parameter.
Regards
Shivanath

I don't completley understand your question, but if you are attempting to understand the performance metrics of the actual server hardware, look at the big three elements, processor utilization, disk I/O, and memory utilization. There are a variety of measures for each catagory. You didn't mention what OS you are using, but if it's Win2k, I can recommend an excellent book from O'Reilly titled Windows 2000 Performance Guide by M. Friedman and O. Pentakalos. They really go into depth on what the various performance metrics mean, and how to improve performance. <br><br>If you want to determine what users are querying, and you are using Essbase 6.5.1 or greater, take a look at the query logging functionality. I haven't yet determined the overhead cost associated with this logging. <br><br>Jeff McAhren<br>Dallas, Texas

  • AD Performace Monitors, Reports and Widgets

    Hi,
I have been asked to set up the following performance counter rules for our DCs (DC1 to DC4):
    DirectoryServices\ATQ Estimated Queue Delay
    DirectoryServices\ATQ Outstanding Queued Requests
    DirectoryServices\ATQ Request Latency
    DirectoryServices\ATQ Threads Total
    DirectoryServices\ATQ Threads LDAP
    DirectoryServices\ATQ Threads Other
    DirectoryServices\LDAP Bind Time
Setting up the rules seemed OK. (The following was selected under Authoring/Rules/Collection Rules/Performance Based/Windows Performance, Rule Target (Windows Computer), Counter (each one from the list above), Interval
= 5 mins. Each counter was then overridden to target a Group which contained all the DCs.
Now to get the Report right...???
The following was selected Reporting/Microsoft Generic Report Library/Performance.
Then a New Series was generated for Each DC, targetting each Windows Computer and each counter - ONE at a time.
I have yet to see and data on the graphs, so I'm hoping the above methodology is correct??? (Pls let me know if you think I have the wrong targets (e.g.
    Windows Computer)).
Assuming the above is correct, How can I get a Window (Widget) to show under the Monitoring Pane, with each of the above counters for each DC being shown?
    e.g. A Widget showing ATQ Estimated Queue Delay for DC1, DC2, DC3, DC4?
    Thx,
    John Bradshaw

You may refer to the following blog for how to create a performance widget

  • Performance  Monitoring & Tracing in XI

    Hi
How can we find out the Time Duration for the whole business Process(Supposingly we take an Scenraio) where XI is taking a large file and pumping it into SAP R/3.
We need to trace how much seconds it took for XI to recieve the file and then send it to SAP System and finally what's the time duration of the whole process.
Kindly let me know, how u perform this activity.
    Regards
    Swetank

    Hi Swetank,
The time taken for the business process execution can be seen in the technical details of the workflow. Follow the path...SXMB_MONI -> click the 'PE' outbound of your business process -> it will open the workflow log -> Goto -> List with technical details -> you can see the processing time here....!!
Also activate the PMI monitoring in integration engine specific configuration. So that u can view the time in RWB -> performace monitoring.

  • Java - Weblogic performance monitoring tool

    Hi there,
I would like to use a performance monitoring tool for the JVM 1.2.2.x running on weblogic5.1,
I understand this is quite old version of JVM and already EOL. However We are having performance issue needs to be addressed ASAP.
Please advice, many thanks in advance.

Free performance monitoring tool? You can try WebLogic Scripting Tool, you
    can download from
    https://codesamples.projects.dev2dev.bea.com/servlets/Scarab?id=S13
You can write your own JMX code to get some runtime status from WebLogic as
    you want.

    Hello,
Might anyone know of a free performace monitoring tool? Just I've used
the monitoring part of Mercury before, it makes nice graphs of memory use.
Is there some free equivalent out there?
Or maybe someone has cooked up some JMX script ?
    thanks!

  • Server 2012 fresh install - Running at a crawl. Possible hardware issue?

    Hello All,
I have recently purchased a used server and just fresh installed Server 2012 to evaluate it, and I am experiencing a issue with it running very slow.   So far nothing has been setup or installed besides the OS, hard drives, and a external usb drive,
so it is pushing me to believe my issue is hardware related.
First let me describe the issue more.   Basically everything is slow to load.  Control panel takes 20 seconds...  trying to load disk management and other snap in from administrative tools all take 15-20secs+ and first come up in
a greyed out window or the administrative tools window goes to "Not Responding" for a few seconds then loads it.
I do not think it is due to the fact the server is used with slightly dated hardware as it has Dual Quad-Core 2.66 Xeons & 16gb ECC Ram, so I was thinking their must be a bad piece of hardware in there?  Maybe bad ram?
Anyway I plan to start hardware diagnostics, but I just wanted to see if anyone had any insight or suggestions for me.  And to verify if this sounds like a hardware issue to you as well.
    Thanks!

Windows 2008 R2 that is on top of the list of supported operating systems. It is a good choice for some testing with M350 G5. Then you can test the in-place upgrade and application compatibility test will tell you, which component makes the problem.
If for example onboard NIC is not compatible, then you can use another NIC card that is compatible. When it is RAID controller (very often), then either use another RAID or single HDD (it is test only, not for production environment).
You can explore the virtualization path. Get know if appropriate hypervisor from VMvare is compatible with this hardware is also compatible with Windows Server 2012 R2. VMware forum may answer your question on virtualization. Working in virtual environment
    will provide some experience too.
Majority of current desktop equipment allows you for testing Windows Server 2012 R2. There are some exceptions, namely "high end game machines" that make you to find remedy for drivers (example
MAXIMUS IV GENE-Z - here is a need to adapt inf file for NIC, because of there is low end NIC on motherboard.)
For low performance issues use native tools like Performace Monitor and diagnostics - Event logs and Device Manager. For detailed analysis consider Sysinternals tools.

  • Update Manager issues

I have been using solaris for going on 10 years now. In the past I would download the latest patch cluster from Sunsolve, burn it to a cd, and install the cluster from single user mode. When 10 came out, I was excited to see and experiment with the update manager. I am not too excited now. I am rather dissapointed. The update manager freezes half the time and now smpatch generates errors and will not work at all. Update manager also stopped working totally until I backed out one of the "patching" patches.
So, I went back to the CD method and found the return codes have changed until the appropriate switch was added to the install_cluster script. Does anyone use this update manager? Seems like a pain to me.

I too have the same problems with Update Manager, on both Sparc and x86 machines. When I update anything, I've gone to the effort to watch cpu, disk, and network activity in the performace monitor. When all three have flat-lined, then I know to abort the updating.
When Update Manager fails, I erase all contents of the /var/sadm/spool folder to start from scratch. Then, rather than reverting to cluster patching, I use smpatch.
    smpatch analyze > patchlist
    smpatch download -x idlist=patchlist
I look at a resulting patchlist*.txt file to see in what order the patches need to be applied.
One should then be able to apply all of the patches in the single user mode by:
    smpatch order -x idlist=patchlist > orderlist
    smpatch add -x idlist=orderlist
However, I don't trust all of them to add without failure, so add each one individually, taxing my patience:
smpatch add -i 123456-01 (the number of the patch's jar file)
After I have installed all pending patches and reboot, I feel confident to try Update Manager again. At least I can use it to tell me if patches exist. Note that after rebooting, you'll need to run Update Manager manually from Launch > Applications > Utilities > Update Manager in the Java Desktop.
Good luck. I hope for both of our sakes that something better comes along in our lifetime.

  • How and where to get the correct message size in XI ?

    Hi,
I need to get the message size in bytes in the following stages in SAP XI. Please help me.
    1. Message size after adapter engine
    2. Message size before entering the integration engine
    3. Message size after transformation/mapping in integration engine
I appreciate your input in this regard.
    Regards
    Gopal

    1. Message size after adapter engine
After adapter engine at receiver side, the message is out of XI and you cannot check the size then. At sender side, after adapter engine would mean inside integration engine. You may check it in sxmb_moni trace or Copy the source of payload in notepad, save it as xml and check the size.
    2. Message size before entering the integration engine
That means inside adapter engine. You may use RWB -> Performace Monitoring
    3. Message size after transformation/mapping in integration engine
This is as 1st case inside integration engine. Use the same method as in case 1.

  • Tempb db size identification

    Hi,
There is version store size counter in transaction category of performance monitor
    , and there is
    version_store_reserved_page_count col in
    dm_db_file_space_usage
Q1) I wanted to know how should i compair/diffrencate them.
Q2) Please also tel me what is version store unit count in transaction category of counters of performace monitor.
    yours sincerley

    what is version store unit?
Q3) "When tempdb runs out of space, the Database Engine forces the version stores to shrink."
above was written in following link
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms175492(v=sql.105).aspx
Does that mean shrinking is done automatically for other stores like object, internal objects etc in tempdb.
but fially i have to shrink manually. Please explain
Q4) i have made a job(runs every 10 sec) and collected data from few miniuts in a table
to find the tempdb max usage , so that i can increment the auto grow accordingally.
please tel me is it correct.
    select

  • Who is logged in

I have 5 users that log onto an CUCM attendent console. They are located in different parts of the building. Is there a way for each of those users to see who is currently logged in.I am thinking either by a button assignment or plugin. If not for all users is there a way for 1 users to see who is logged into that AC_Group.

Yes you can do this you have to be a bit creative and use https or a web page to display this real time info.:
The actual realtiem performace monitor field you need to look for is:
    ClientsOnline :
This counter represents the total number of Cisco Unified Communications Manager attendant console clients that are currently online. Attendant Console clients include all users that are configured in the Attendant Console User Configuration window in Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration that are currently online. This number increases by one for each client that goes online and decreases by one for each client that goes offline.
    Other related details are:
    Cisco Unified Real-Time Monitoring
The RTMT runs as a client-side application and uses HTTPS and TCP to monitor system performance, device status, device discovery, CTI applications, and voice messaging ports. RTMT can connect directly to devices by using HTTPS to troubleshoot system issues. Cisco Unified RTMT performs the following tasks:
•Monitor a set of predefined management objects that monitor the health of the system.
•Generate various alerts, in the form of e-mails, for objects when values go over/below user-configured thresholds.
•Collect and view traces in various default viewers that exist in RTMT.
    •Translate Q931 messages.
•View syslog messages in SysLog Viewer.
    •Work with performance-monitoring counters.
In addition to SNMP traps, Cisco Unified RTMT can monitor and parse syslog messages that are provided by the hardware vendors, and then send these alerts to RTMT Alert Central. You can configure RTMT to notify the Cisco Unified CM system administrator when the alerts occur. The notifications can occur by using e-mail or Epage or both.

  • Stored Procedure with OpenQuery

    Good day,
We have developed update query that works well and would like to make stored procedure from it.  This query does join with an OpenQuery and we would like to pass BatchID (int) to both OpenQuery and local table. Not sure how really go about doing that
    with OpenQuery. Here is the working query;
    declare @CurrentDate varchar(8)
    set @CurrentDate = replace(convert(char(5), getdate(), 1), '/', '') +''+ right(replace(convert(char(8), getdate(), 1), '/', ''), 1) -- get date in mmddy format
    UPDATE       a1
    SET                a1.LastErrorCode = a2.ENTRY_STATUS, a1.UploadedYN = CASE WHEN a2.ENTRY_STATUS = 0 THEN 'Y' ELSE 'N' END, --check if uploaded
    a1.LocatorNumber = Case when AccountType in('60','61','62', '63', '64','65', '98', '90') then Left(OriginalLocatorNumber,7) + '' + Right(OriginalLocatorNumber,4)
     when BatchType= 8 then  '00' + '' + @CurrentDate + '' + convert(varchar, a1.UploadEntryKey)
     when BatchType= 4 then  '10' + '' + @CurrentDate + '' + convert(varchar, a1.UploadEntryKey)
     when BatchType= 6 then  '11' + '' + @CurrentDate + '' + convert(varchar, a1.UploadEntryKey)

Eric, we tried your option 2 and it kept failing on LinkServerName.TST1.ETAX_ENTRY
    with an error
    Msg 208, Level 16, State 1, Procedure EWPUpdateLocator1, Line 17
    Invalid object name 'LinkServerName.TST1.ETAX_ENTRY'.
I do want to note that we are connecting to DB2 database if it makes any difference and batch would usually be up to 30 records but table can have more than thousand
records (it gets flushed every night)
We did try your option 1 and ( I changed a2.BatchID to a2.ENTRY_BATCHID and add same column to openquery)
and it worked just fine but we are concerned as to how many records is it bringing back.. will this query bring all records
back or just that batch? Our goal is to limit brining of records from BD2 to the batch in question. Here are some results
from Performace Monitor. First highlighted is your option 1, second is us hardcoding batch number in openquery only (and repeating execution in the last un-highlighted
query) and 3rd was running our stored procedure by eliminating batchid criteria in openquery altogether.
I'm not sure if your option 1 is bringing all records from DB2 table or not but I'm pretty sure that option 2 if we can get it working would not.
    Thanks
It seems that Report Services jumped in when we executed your option 1 so it added some things. Here is a better picture with 1st option highlighted in blue.. we also ran it second time and looks like report services jumped in again..

  • SAP_XMS_GET_PMI_DATA?

    Hi Friends,
A job SAP_XMS_GET_PMI_DATA is failing in XI system. The job log something like,
" collecting performance data from Monitoring server
Test with RFC connection AI_MONITORING_SERVER failed
RFC test: RFC destination AI_MONITORING_SERVER doesnt exist"
I have found that there is no such RFC connection (AI_MONITORING_SERVER) defined in SM59.
I have few questions on this-->
    1.Is the job really required?
    2. The data that this job is collecting is mandatory?
3.Why the job is not scheduled in the system?
    Regards,
    Suresh.

I think there is some mistake in the name of Job and thats why no response yet from anyone
It should be SAP_XMB_GET_PMI_DATA which uses report SXMS_PMI_EXTRACT_PMI_DATA. This report helps in dispaying the performance data in RWB. This is not mandatory but is used if you want to utilize Performace monitoring capabilities of RWB.

  • External monitor Syncmaster 2494SW not working after 10.6.7 update

External monitor Samsung Syncmaster 2494  SW stopped working after 10.6.7 update on 2011 MacBook Pro. I'm using miniDP-DVI adapter. The monitor shown correctly in Display Properties with right modes and name. MackBook recognizes connection but the monitor goes to PowerSave mode (LED indicator blinks).
Safemode boot, SMC reset, PRAM reset did not help.
Exactly the same setup works perfectly under 10.6.6.

HERE IS THE EASY FIX SOLUTION FOR THIS PROBLEM GUYS:
I have an 15inch MacBook Pro that I've just installed Snow Leopard 10.6.3 on.
Prior to this install, I've had it hooked up to my Samsung SyncMaster 2243 via an Apple MDP/VGA adapter and a third party VGA cable. It has been flashing on and off a black screen every now and then for the past 2 years and I googled that it was just a crappy communication between the MBP and the Samsung... but now since installing 10.6.3, the Samsung display just flashes the desktop for a second then turns black for good - occationally flashing analogue/digtal prompt display. Tried everything for hours. Nothing worked, thought I was gonna have to buy a new all Apple VGA lead then came across Michael's above solution. Tried it and it worked IMMEDIATLY!!! And the monitor doesn't flash black anymore AT ALL!! Whoo-hoo!! Thanks heaps.
    WHAT TO DO TO FIX:
Go to => System Preferences  => Energy Saver => change graphic settings to Higher Performace.
    Cheers!!
