Performance graphs in EM console

Hi,
We have accidentally changed the system data to 2006-03-10. After few hours we have corrected the date. But after that the CPU graph in performance page shows future dates (from today to 2006-03-10) . So we can’t monitor online CPU activities. You can simulate this by simply change your system date to next month date.
Version –Oracle 10g on Linux ES4 .
Pls. let us know if you know any solution for this issue. Thanks in advance.

I would suggest you restart Enterprise manager and Agent.

  • Performance meter in weblogic console

    All,
Semi new to memory analysis on the server side (distributed garbage
collection and all). I was rather used to doing client application memory
leak analysis. Are there any good starter guides for memory analysis when
    doing load testing?
I am currently working on a project where we do severe load testing against
servlets that hit session level EJB and then entity EJB. We see the heap
(Server->monitor->performace) sawtooth slowly up until the server throws out
of memory exceptions and starts to fail. We have already fixed a few
glaring problems with our code, but the sawtooth remains.
What is the garbage collection routine under WebLogic? Does it run
periodically? Does it run during high/low activity? Should it not be
called before any OutOfMemory exception is throw?
If you set the ejb's to keep too many ejb references in the cache, will the
server sanity check this and bump some out of the cache when memory gets
tight? Basically, I'm asking could I shoot myself in the foot in
weblogic-ejb-jar.xml or will the server help me out?
Finally, if you start mydomain as shipped and go to the performance graph it
slowly sawtooths up at a very slow pace. If you let it run over night it
eats up 10 megs or so. Why is this? It looks rather bad, but I can't
assume this is as it looks on the surface.
Sorry for all the questions, but maybe this will start a good thread.

JVM heap usage will grow and shrink throughout the life of the server. Even an
idle WebLogic server is allocating and freeing object instances. Therefore,
when looking for a "leak", make sure that you account for the state of the JVM
garbage collection and compare "apples" to "apples".
I find that it is best to compare the heap usage after full garbage collections
(GC[1]). Try enabling -verbose:gc and comparing each of the full GC results.
Provided that your server is handling a constant and steady load (or is
constantly idle), you should see little change in heap usage after each full
GC. However, if your your server is idle you may need to force GC to run every
hour or so. By default, you need to use nearly all of the allocated heap
before full GC will kick in.

The garbage collector is a function of the JVM, not of WebLogic. Look atthe JVM
documentation for an explanation of garbage collection.Gotcha.
Weblogic, without any application code runs fine. When you add YOURapplication
code, then you might run into problems. Hence it is your code that ischewing
up (and not releasing) the memory. JProbe is good at find this kind ofproblem.
You can also narrow things down - for instance - hit only one servlet andsee
if the memory grows. Or remove references to session beans, and hit theservlet.
I should be more specific. I installed WLS SP2 on Redhat Linux 7.1 and ran
startWeblogic.sh from the default mydomain. I didn't make any
modifications. I ran the performance meter and the memory did grow over
night significantly. This suprised me. Do I attribute this to Linux? Our
production environment is definately Solaris, but I'd like to be able to
diagnose memory leaks on Linux. I don't want this false positive in the
tests. Am I missing something here?
OutOfMemoryExceptions occur when the JVM attempts to allocate more memorythan
is available - even after running garbage collection. The JVMoption -verbose:gc
will also shed some light on GC.
The Java Heap is not the only part of the JVM that requires memory. Inrare cases,
much memory is consumed by classes and methods in memory, heap (not javaheap)
    used by native code.

It is not easy. Optimizit and JProbe can help, as can a well-architected

Typical leaks are in session objects, static fields, and database driver
usage without proper closing of objects.

  • Grod Control - Performance graph is not refreshing

I'm using the GC 10.2.0.5 with DB 10.2.0.4. There are some databases have dignostics and tuning pack. The performance graph is using the Adobe Flash in 10.2.0.5 under performance --> top activity. This graph will not refresh even when we set auto refresh for every 15 minutes and also no correlation between the graph and the top SQL. However, it provides the correct information the very first when we login. But, the graph will not be refreshed afterwards. I used GC 10.2.0.3 and 10.2.0.4 and had no issues with those patchsets.
Did someone notice the same issue?. Is it a bug or any IE settings required?. I have not installed the 10.2.0.5.2 PSU. Does the PSU resolve the issue?. Your inputs are appreciated.

Hello I am running OEM GC 10.2.0.5 and IE 7 and everything works fine.
When open page Top Activity for a database, you must however pay attention on the following:
The performance graph contains a grey colour control that you drag horizontally through the graph in time.
When the Page gets refreshed, say after 15 seconds, the control remains it’s original position. So if you want to see the Top SQL being synchronized you need to drag the control back to the most right position in the graph.
    Works fine to me.
    Regards
    Rob

  • Colors details in Performance Graph of OEM 11gR1

    Dear All,
I use OEM 11gR1 to monitor continuous performance of my database.
Though what colors represent is described on the right panel, but i need to study them in details and if any abnormal raise in color what actions should be taken.
Is there any documentation available that I can study?
Like brown color is concurrency, what does it means in detail and how to avoid the situation?
    Thanks,
    Imran

    Just to state in short.
    1. Graphs mostly contains two part graph + legend
    2. legend will tell you that color used is for what concurrency, ideal wait etc. They are basically waits.

  • How to get performance statistics like OEM console 9i

    Hi All Gurus,
I am having trouble getting the server load and seeing different session's statistics. As we all know, in OEM 9i java console, we were able to see the following useful columns for all the active sessions:
    CPU_TIME, PGA_MEMORY, PHYSICAL_DISK READS, LOGICAL READS, etc.
But in OEM 10g java colsole, there are no such columns (I dont know why), for each session, the 10g console only gives basic info like, USER_NAME, OSUSER, MACHINE NAME, LOGON TIME, etc, but no tuning statistics.
So, I was looking the dynamic performance views to see all these information. But I am confused, there are a number of views; they are v$sql, v$sqlearea, v$sql_workarea, v$sqlstats, v$session, v$sesstat, v$open_cursors, etc.
Can somebody explain to me what are the relationships between them and exactly which ones are actually needed to produce the columns like those in OEM 9i. I am not sure does v$sql represent one sql statement or v$sqlarea?, how they are related to v$session? lot of confusions!!!! pls help. Thanks in advance.

  • EA3/EA2 - Insight Performance Logging still in console

As per a comment Vadim made in EA1 - New Things I Love! I was expecting the insight performance logging to move from the console to standard logging (assume this means somewhere in the Log dockable window), but this is not the case with EA2. Is this still planned (but missed EA2)?
    theFurryOne

    Vadim,
I have generated a long insight performance query which is reported in the console, but nothing appeared in the Log. By default the Log dockable window is not visible, but I tested again after selecting View > Log (which displays the Log dockable window) and still nothing is reported in there. Are we talking about the same log?

  • Performance of SBS 2011 console is poor and unresponsive MS.Exchange.Search.ExSearch.exe 25% CPU usage

I was asked to look at this server pro bono and I find it is getting worse, Console wise.  It takes an hour to get to the console home screen from initial power on.  It then crashes on unresponsive when I go to Updates.  I am ignorant as to
why Microsoft.Exchange.Search.ExSearch.exe is constantly using 25% of the CPU when we are not even running Exchange Server.  The church server has 4MB memory of which all but about 400mb is commited.   I ran best practices analyzer and all it told
me was Exchange is not running(which is not a surprise because we do not want it running).  I remember looking at the Updates status when it was functioning a few weeks ago and there were not any outstanding updates for the SBS.  In one performance
screen I saw unrealistic page faulting  numbers in the millions today.  There aren't any users on the system today, they use an outside service for email, they aren't running outlook, nor webserving.....in my ignorant opinion EXchange should not
be doing anything or be way down on the CPU list.
Please point me in the right direction.
    Thanks.

    Hi:
You can stop all exchange services if you aren't using them.  You should run the SBS BPA and fix anything it finds.  I don't think you mean 4 MB of RAM, but even if mean 4 GB that is much too little.  The minimum stated requirement is 8 GB
iirc, and SBS 2011 works much better with 12-16, even without any exchange services running.

  • How old historical data can be available for SCOM performance views to show up in graphs?

I have created performance rule based on performance counter and created a performance view on the target of the rule. It shows me the graph of how performance counter value changed over the period of time.
In SCOM console there is an option in performance views, to choose start date-time and end date-time for the performance graph. It allows me to select a range of say few years.
However going by the Microsoft documentation, it appears that performance data is stored in OperationsManagerDW database only for limited period.
I have a feature requirement where we need to have performance views or reports or some means where for compliance purpose we should be able to show older data as well.
So my query is exactly how much historical data(up to how old) is actually available for performance views? Is there any specific information or MS documentation available where I can get this information (duration of historical data in specific number of days
or years or so.) I need to decide based on this if I can use performance views or I need to go for some kind of reports like SSRS reports instead.

  • Monitoring Hyper-V 2012 R2 - Performance Data/Graphs Equivalent to XenCenter/vSphere Client

    Hello,
We've just moved away from Xenserver (hooray!) to Hyper-v 2012 R2, but I must admit the best thing about xenserver was xencenter. The ability to see the real time performance of a VM and see its network utlisation/CPU/Memory was very very useful. Also the
    same for VMWare vsphere client.
Although Hyper-V 2012 R2 is a lot better than xenserver the realtime monitoring of VM's is awful!
We have SCVMM but that doesn't give you much either, only average CPU data..and only when it decides it will show the graph!
I've tried a few free tools, VMTurbo, Solarwinds VM Monitor (free - which doesn't support 2012 R2) plus some others...but none give us what we want.
I've seen all these other posts about monitoring reports etc which are all good and well but when you need real-time data how are people getting this? We don't want OM as we cannot afford it nor do we want the excess of managing it (not even sure if this
would give us what we want).
Can anyone give me ideas of what they are using for this or what products, I feel MS have messed up a bit here, if they had these features in Hyper-v Manager/Failover Cluster Manager then it would be on a par with VMWare for sure.
    Many thanks
    Matt

    Update:
I've got a trail license of SCOM and installed it and connected to SCVMM (eventually...what a pain having to install extra packages etc!! good stuff MS! You'd think as SCVMM is part of the System Center family it would be easy to connect to SCOM)
I also got the free version of VeamOne as suggested by Leonardo.
SCOM is too complicated and requires far too much configuration just to get simple monitoring from Hyper-V and I really can't believe you need all this extra software just to get performance graphs from Hyper-V/VM's. Really don't want to install extra agents
on the hosts etc goes against Hyper-V best practice about keeping the servers light. Plus even trying to get simple data out of SCOM is tiresome.
VeamOne on the other hand...for a free product does exactly what SCVMM 'should' be doing.
Plus very useful extra info/alert that SCVMM doesn't even show up which I wasn't aware of, SCOM probably would show these alerts after you've spent days and days trying to figure out how to configure it and reading loads of articles.
So unless there is some hidden gem in SCVMM then it needs to be improved greatly on the monitoring side to fully compare with VMWare I believe as the idea of having to setup/configure SCOM just for monitoring is ridiculous.
I'm going to stick with VeamOne for now as its simple, gives me the info I require.

  • Graph not displayed under Target- dbname- Performance

Performance graph not getting displayed in oem grid control. Here is how I am navigating to the screen: Targets->Databases->dbname->Performance. For some databases that are being monitored, the graph is displayed, for some it is not displayed. Is there any package or procedure that need to be executed to activate the graph.

  • Adding data labels to column graph

I work in the financial industry and I have to add data labels to all bars that appear in my ten year performance graphs (see http://fundinvestor.calamos.com/ClosedEndFunds/CEFund.aspx?name=CHI under the "Performance" tab as an example). Is there a script that can do this? I saw there's this technique that Adobe offers for column totals: http://livedocs.adobe.com/en_US/Illustrator/13.0/help.html?content=WS714a382cdf7d304e7e07d 0100196cbc5f-619e.html but that's not working. A number of the performance graphs (e.g. Top Activity) don't display i.e. there is nothing but if if you right-click in the empty area you get a small pull down with Print, Settings, About Adobde Flash 10.
This has all happend after upgrading to 10.2.0.5. OMS and client environment is:

Anyone got any ideas or anyone got it working fine.

Windows Server 2008 OEM 11g Performance graphs do not display.
Click OEM Performance Tab and IE7 information bar displays message:
"Your security setting do not allow websites to use ActiveX controls installed on your computer. This page may not display correctly."
Workaround: Disable Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration in Windows Server 2008
Unlike with previous versions of Windows Server in which you could disable Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration by removing the component in Add/Remove Programs, Windows Components
the Windows Server 2008 implementation of Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration is configured through Server Manager.
Select the root of the Service Manager navigation pane, and under the Server Summary click Configure IE ESC, which is part of the Security Information section.
A dialog box appears, letting Internet Explorer Enhanced Security Configuration be enabled/disable separately for normal users and administrators.
