Performance of BSP is slow

Hi,
We are executing BSP pages in two servers. The response time  seems to be good in server A. When we execute the same page in server B it is slow.
What are the key aspects we need to see to improve the performance. Offcourse,the physical memory in Server A is more, than in Server B.
Are there any other factors that we need to consider before we recommend changes(like number of CPU, Swap size etc)?.
Thanks,
Vincent

Hi,
This issue was pretty much with the hardware of two servers and its working fine after hardware is replaced

    I have an AIR application developed using Flash CS3. The

    the display property setting is changed to 32 bit color mode
    applications performance is good and faster.

    System Configuration:
    Windows XP (SP2)

    Can any one explain that is there any issue with Flash Player

  • Paint performance with JScrollPane very slow in jdk 1.4?

    I got a simple program that overrides paintComponent on a JPanel. Then draws lots of lines, rectangles and some strings. The panel is then added to a scrollpane.
    The scrolling is very smooth in java 1.3.1, but very slow in 1.4.2
    the paintComponent takes between 16ms and 30ms with java 1.3.1 but 70-200ms with java 1.4.2.
    I tried turning of antialising etc.. but no help. Whats the "improvement" they made in jdk 1.4?

    Ok I made a simple example, which draws around 5000 elements.
    Sourcecode is here: http://www.mcmadsen.dk/files/ScrollPaneTest.java
    I did several testruns on java 1.4.2 and java 1.3.1, heres the "avarage" result:
    Java 1.4.2:
         Current: 140ms High: 203ms Avg: 144ms Low: 125ms
    Java 1.3.1:
         Current: 62ms High: 219ms Avg: 68ms Low: 47ms
    The paintComponent() looks like this:
    public void paintComponent(Graphics g)
    super.paintComponent(g);
    long offset=System.currentTimeMillis();
    PaintElement paintElementTmp;
    for(int i=0;i<paintElements.size();i++)
    paintElementTmp=(PaintElement)paintElements.elementAt(i);
    g.setColor(paintElementTmp.getBackground());
    g.fillRect(paintElementTmp.getX(),paintElementTmp.getY(),paintElementTmp.getWidth(),paintElementTmp.getHeight());
    g.setColor(paintElementTmp.getForeground());
    g.drawString(paintElementTmp.getText(),paintElementTmp.getX(),paintElementTmp.getY());
    long done=System.currentTimeMillis();
    long current=done-offset;
    sum+=current;
    if(current>high)high=current;
    if(low>current)low=current;
    count++;
    System.out.println("Current: "+current+"ms High: "+high+"ms Avg: "+(sum/count)+"ms Low: "+low+"ms");
    I tried all the renderinghints, but no difference (from the default settings). Also the scrolling is very slow and stops all the time in java 1.4.
    Any ideas on how to get java 1.4 to perform as java 1.3.1?
    Thanks

  • Aperture 3.03 For me preview generation performance is now even slower!

    Set up:
    24" iMac, Intel Core 2 Duo 2.8Ghz, 4Gb RAM, Radeon HD2600 with 256Mb, 1Tb 7200 Seagate Barracuda HD.
    Aperture 3.03, RAW 3.02
    OSX 10.6.3
    With a Canon 5D Mark II RAW photo (25Mb or so) with some simple adjustments generating a preview is now taking 1 minute per photo. Which is even slower than version 3.02.
    I have the previews full size and on quality 8.
    Does anyone with the 5D see faster performance on preview of this size, on this sort of Mac?
    I want to try and find out if this is normal performance or not before going through all the things I tried in 3.02 which had no effect (clearing caches, rebuilding library, rebuilding thumbnails, de-fragging by copying library to another drive and back, deleting preference files).
    I've also had the problem with 3.03 where faces get rotated 90 degrees, so not too impressed so far with this version.

    Same here. Previews at 1680x1680 (the max rez of my 20" iMac screen), quality 8, and they take about 2 secs each on the iMac spec'd in my sig. Same on my MBPro, though those are constrained to 1440x max.
    Are you talking about just generating a standard preview, or a 100% view render, or what?
    I know (still even with 3.0.3) it takes a LONG time to render a 100% view of a photo if it has a bunch of adjustments on it (highlight/shadows + edge sharpen) are the worst for this)... But it does seem a bit faster doing this task now, than with 3.0.2...

  • Photoshop crashes, unable to perform Software Update, general slowness.

    I am writing on behalf of a colleague at work.
    He is using a brand new iMac 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 3GB 800 MHz DDR2 SDRAM. It is running Mac OS X 10.5.5 and he is trying to update to 10.5.6 to correct some problems he's been encountering.
    He has been experiencing repeated crashes with Adobe Photoshop and Mozilla Firefox, as well as general slowness. The biggest problem happens when trying to perform a Software Update.
    "The installer encountered an unknown error that failed the install. Contact the software manufacturer for assistance."
    The Mac then freezes and has to be force shut down. After that it sometimes will not start again either.
    We have run a permissions verify and repair, and errors were corrected but the problem continues. We also ran a disk verify and it found errors, but when we tried to correct the errors it said that there were no errors.
    A memory test in the Apple Hardware Test showed no errors either. We are running an hour-long test now.
    We suspect there may be a hardware problem. Could anybody please advise on any other things we could try?

    The computer answered this question for us. Today it will not boot.
    It is going to be serviced, I suspect a logic board problem.

  • Performance of mac is slow what i have to do

    performance of my mac is slow what i have to do

    Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
         Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
         COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the
         computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager
         screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
    When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    4. Reinstall Yosemite: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall OS X from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
    Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
                because it is three times faster than wireless.
    5. Reinstall Yosemite from Scratch:
    Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    How to Clean Install OS X Yosemite
    Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
                because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Performance Management - BSPs

    Hello!
    I am looking for some help in editing/changing the look and feel of the BSPs associated with SAP Performance Mgmt.  Essentially, I am using the free enhancement to add qualifications to the BSP appraisal document, however when the pop up window appears with choices from the qualification catalog, it does not maintain the tree organization which is created via transaction code: OOQA.  Instead it just shows a list of all Object Type Q and does not show the Object Type QK.
    This will be very important for our project because the qualification catalog will be very large, and it will be helpful for the BSP pop up to show QK and then Q.
    Thank you for your help.
    Kind Regards,
    Adam P.

    Hello Adam,
    It's a missing functionality in BSP. But you will be get it in coming SAP release.
    Conceptually arranging Q according to QK is a tree display which is not supported by BSP application.
    Kind Regards,

  • Filesystem performance exhasperatingly horribly unusably slow.

    Ok, I'm brand new at playing around with Oracle's VM, so maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I'm getting completely unusable filesystem write performance from my first VM test system.
    The VM server is a Dell PE 2600 with dual 3.2GHz xeon processors, 4GB memory, two PERC 4 raid controllers with a 300GB internal array for the main Linux system volume, and an external 1TB array on the 2nd PERC card for the /OVS volume. The raw hardware, though 5 years old vintage, is no slouch, and ran Windows and regular Linux screamingly fast for its past production deployments. The VM server installation, is a fresh install of the 32-bits version VM server 2.1.2, using all the defaults , from the bootable ISO image.
    I have the VM Manager running on a separate machine, a high-powered HP desktop.
    I created my first virtual machine from the OVM_EL5U2_X86_ORACLE11G_PVM template and in the web manager, I added two more (non-shared) virtual disks, to hold my application software and database to the virtual machine. The first virtual disk is 12GB in size, and the 2nd one is 100GB. The 12GB virtual disk created and attached pretty quickly, the 100GB virtual disk took many hours, I left it run overnight to finish. In the virtual machine's console, I ran fdisk to put one partition on each of these two virtual disks, and ran mkfs to put one ext3 filesystem on each new partion, edited the /etc/fstab to add the two new filesystems, and manually mounted them. Making the filesystem on the 12GB disk/partition went fast, only a few seconds to complete. Doing the same on the 100GB partion took much, much longer.... over an hour :-(
    The dismay really started when I began copying a 4.25GB Oracle export .dmp file of my database from the /u01 filesystem (which came by default with the vm created from template) over to my newly created 100GB virtual disk filesystem. The simple file copy took over 45 minutes! That works out to be only about 1.5MB/second. Is something wrong here, or is this the kind of write performance to be expected? I've read all kinds of whitepapers that claim that performance of a virtual machine should typically be in the realm of 80-90% of native Linux running directly on the raw hardware, but what I'm seeing here is filesystem performance equivalent to an IDE disk in an old 1990's desktop machine. If that's all there is, then I should just cut this experiment short and consider virtualization to be only an academic curiosity or suitable only for trivially small production use.

    Wow! Been gone for a few days and surprised to see this thread still going!
    Avi Miller wrote:
    Yes, the mount options should remain on default. Did you change them to "sync" manually?Yes, setting the /OVS filesystem to "sync" was specified in an Oracle whitepaper I found that gave step-by-step 'How To' instructions for installing setting up your first virtual server, management server, and VMs using the downloaded templates. I figured the mount-with-sync option must have beensome sort of measure to avoid filesystem corruption with the cooked-file virtual disks inside the VMs or something like that, when used in a cluster scenario.... which I'm not interested in.... yet.
    rlomba wrote:
    Good to hear of the improvements...
    If you use the 11G_DB_TEMPLATE, what you get is a complete 11G installation with ASM storage. Of the 2 instances you see, one is actually the "real" database, and the second one "ASM+" is actually the ASM "controller". It's not a DB instance, it's just a software component that the real DB uses to communicate with the ASM storage, that in this particular case is a Virtual Disk. For sure you'll have noticed that the template itself has a second Virtual Disk already attached, that's the ASM storage device.I kinda figured that was the deal. I used the 11g template just becuase it conveniently already had the database engine installed, and the template downloads were huge and took hours to download on my slow Internet feed, so I just grabbed one that had the OS and database both included. I made my own app database via the old fashioned way of using dbca to build the skeleton, and then imported a dmp file that was exported from my live database server.
    >
    If you prefer to use a classic file-system DB, maybe the best option for you would be to use an EMPTY Template (just OS, no DB) and then perform a regular installation of the Database (like if you where installing a real machine). If I may give you a suggestion, do the following:That would definitely make more sense for my next testing phase. This was just a development proof of concept test to see if building such a Frankenstein monster would even work and if virtualization for this application would be feasible to further pursue. I think it will definitely be that. My next step will be to try to get my hands on some real 64-bit hardware with multicore CPUs and enough memory and disk space to run at least 3 or 4 virtual machines upon, so I can test multiple simultaneous running instances of my application and database in a (1) simulated live daily production, (2) archive/reporting/prior fiscal year, and (3) pre-production/development/test environment, each running in its own virtual machine. When I get such hardware, I'd bet that doing the physical device arrangement as you suggested, with making separate physical volumes/partitions from slices of the disk arrays on the parent virtual server, but not mounted by any filesystem on the parent server, and mounting them directly by the virtual machine(s) will be the way to go for getting adequate filesystem thruput for the Oracle database files. I'm a bit old fashioned, but I still like having cooked files in a unix filesystem for my database files... it gives me a lot of convenience and flexibility when cloning databases, doing quick cold backups, etc. That's the way I'm running on the production platform right now, which is an old AIX RS/6000 machine.
    PS: Any ideas whether using LVM on the parent virtual server would pose any problem for the phys volumes passed down to the child VMs? I really love being able to use the LVM of AIX to allocate just enough physical disk space to my volumes used for Oracle cooked file database filesystems, and being able to grow them just enough as needed, to conserve physical disk space. It would be nice to be able to continue this practice in Linux.
    Also, what about EXT3 vs XFS vs JFS filesystem types for Linux... is any one of those really any better, performance-wise, than the others for holding Oracle database cooked files.

  • Dashboard Performance - Very Very Very Slow

    Hi everyone, I would like to take some suggestions regarding the performance of Dashboard Pages.
    This is our first OBI project and were running into several performance issues. So far everyone in the team focused mostly on the functionality of the dashboard pages and we were happy to see it work as expected.
    But the biggest problem right now is the performance.
    When we log into the OBI, it takes at least 10 minutes to log in. We see this message... "Logging in please wait"
    Once we log in and click on the Dashboard, it takes another 5 to 10 minutes to show the first page.
    The pages we have in Dashboard have more than 60 answers requests (Guided Navigation) and about half a dozen Prompts (Constrained). Call it as a poor architecture or design plan, but this is what we wanted from a functionality and business stand point.
    Are there any specific areas on the Physical Server that we can focus to upgrate stuff like RAM, CPU usage, etc........ to improve the overall performance of the Dashboard?
    Everytime we report the poor performance to our Windows Team, we get the same answer that the CPU usage from their eyes is very normal by the OBI stuff. They inturn asking us what are the log files or areas they need to check to grant more CPU usage for OBI.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Sai

    Hi David,
    Here are my answers for your questions earlier:
    1. How many users are running this dashboard at the same time?
    3-5 right now. But once this stuff is completly done, it will be accessed by at least 1000 external clients.
    2. What is the database?
    Oracle 10.2.0.4.0
    3. Have you changed any config parameters?
    All defaults except turned on “Execute queries asynchronously” yesterday
    4. The defaults are rarely okay for some of them. You need to look at the connection pool(s) settings. How many max connections?
    10
    5. Is pool sharing on?
    “Connection pooling enabled”
    6. Is multithreaded on?
    Yes
    Also, David regarding
    "Users having to wait at login often means that connections or threads are gated on the OBI server. You may need to bump up SERVER_THREAD_RANGE (try 500_500) and DB_SERVER_THREAD"
    Where do we do this. I mean, where can i find this attributes ????

  • After Motion Export - Performance is terrible and slow

    Everything works great with my entire FCS but once I export anything complicated from Motion with nothing open or a bunch of applications open my imac slows down tremendously. nothing but the color wheel and I cant even expose' without a 1-2 second pause on all switching of applications, saving anything... This lasts till I restart.
    iMac 2.4 Core 2 Duo 4GB ram 640HD.
    Final Cut Studio (3) up to date.
    Anyone else having this issue? Thanks!

    A couple thoughts:
    1: Are you saying that AFTER (like the title suggests) the export that your system is still unresponsive?
    2: Does the same thing happen if you export through compressor?
    3: Try and clear your RAM in the "Mark>RAM Preview" menu
    It sounds like your iMac is choking without memory. Not sure how much you have but there's never enough for Motion.

  • Sluggish performance (and Adobe applications slow)

    Not sure what the problem is here, well, outside of my Mac running rather sluggishly lately. Even Adobe applications take AT LEAST a minute or more to open up. I seem to be getting the spinning beach ball more often than not jumping between applications at times as well. And watch out if I leave the computer on 7 or more days straight... ouch, the performance drags.
    I've zapped the PRAM, repaired and verified permissions and the drive, my hard drive is only at 30% capacity, so I'm a little stumped about the performance issue.

    How many applications are you running at the same time? Perhaps you need more RAM.
