Performance related problem
I have identified following problem in oracle.
I would like to explain it through an example for the understanding of exact problem
I created a view say ‘view_1’ and another view ‘view_2’ based on view ‘view_1’ there are some functions like sum involved in each view that’s why there was a need to make view on view … I kept on making views based on other views upto 5th level that is keeping the order my last view was view_5 that was based on view_4
Now when I run the query of view_5 I get the required result but when I query the last view e.g select * from view_5 the system goes into a very long wait state. I waited for more then 16 minutes but nothing happened so I had to cancel the query.
is there any limitation in oracle or how can i view statistics of and reasons of this wait state?
please help me
The biggest issue about the views that they are not designed for performance but for transperancy, easiness. Views can be of two types, mergeable and non-mergeable. Mostly, if the view is non-mergeable, its going to give a bad performance( not a strict rule though). So as you are using so many of them, there are chances that this thing is effecting you. Suggest you to post your query, its explain plan over here with full database version. Please use the { code } tag(without spaces) to do so.

Report Server Performance related problem
Hi all,
We have a report which generates the output in PDF format. Our Report generates report of 2134 pages with some particular parameters.
If a user runs a 2134 long page report over the Web, is there a way to look at some of the pages rather than send all 2134 back to the browser? The output
should be in pdf format only. I have seen the parameter PAGESTREAM=TRUE, which works only with HTMLCSS,HTML output format only. Is there any work around for the pdf?
Thanks in advance..
regards,
srinivas.MI can't access my server now but i have searched httpd.conf file under all my oracle directory
and i only changed the one under apache folder
the_machine_name with ip
I didn't ping myservername but it only helped me to change the url under submit query button.
It was directed to http://<machine_name>/reports/rwservlet? ...
after this
it is directed to to http://<machine_IP>/reports/rwservlet? ... -
Hi
I am doing a project, a java desktop application. I am suffering from performance related problem in proj. Actually there is one jPanel(inside jInternalFrame, which is obvious inside main frame) which contains around 30 labels + 30 TextArea fields + 2 buttons(huge amount of GUI components placed on that), and it is too large to be fit into a desktop screen. that's why i have used a jScrollpane and placed jPanel on that. But now major problem is whenever i run a project it takes too much time, around 4 to 8 minutes. I think it is just because of huge amount of GUI components are placed in that jPanel which is placed inside jScrollpane & i think that jScrollPane is a lightweight component. But then 4-8 mins is a too much time to load a project. Can you tell me that is there any other way to put a large form inside a fixed (small) area without affecting performance of project.
In short i want to put a too many swing components inside a fixed area. Is there any other way apart from using jScrollPane?
What should i do in this case? Plz reply....
Thanks. It should not take 4-8 minutes to create a GUI. Maybe 4-8 seconds. You have some other problem you haven't described.
If you need further help then you need to create a [Short, Self Contained, Compilable and Executable, Example Program (SSCCE)|http://homepage1.nifty.com/algafield/sscce.html], that demonstrates the incorrect behaviour.
Don't forget to use the Code Formatting Tags so the posted code retains its original formatting. That is done by selecting the code and then clicking on the "Code" button above the question input area. -
How to take care of Performance related issue in DRM?
How we can optimize or take care of performance related issues when we have huge data in DRM application? especially when comes to Imports and Exports.
Thanks
-RameshHi Ramesh,
Below some suggestion from my side.
1-Try to keep Current version open at the time of export and automator run.
2-At extreme use derived property , else manage with somehow if you can
3-If you are creating any derived property make sure you are restricting to related hier
4-In case you are creating derived property check performance to take big hier with derived property node name and description ,if performance not seems to you satisfactory go with some other logic.
5-Don’t use much looking property like Nodeinhier, hiernodepropvalue etc , if need then only use these
6-Tack care of validation if you can do better with verification then don’t put validation in that case
7-I do see some problem while loading data from DRM to DB try to avoid and use some workaround if possible ( like Sql loader)
Not sure how much useful will be for you these points above.
Thanks!

Max No. of records in a table - performance related statistics of a table
Hi all,
Can anybody please help me on the performance related statistics depending upon the size of the table?
I have a question regarding the scalability and(I think so) and performance.
My record is having 20 columns and all columns together it will come upto around 200 bytes/record.
What is the maximum no of records that can be stored in a table?
Currently the table is having more than 500,000 records.
Every month, 15,000 new records are added. A new requirement came up now. If that is implemented, no. of records per month will go upto 50,000.
It means the table is getting filled up at more than three times faster every month.
How this will effect my application's performance - Querying / Inserts / Updates ?
Please help me.
thanks and regards.
PanduThere is no inherent limit to the number of rows in a table, I have several tables with over 20 million rows (and many of these are over 200 bytes per record).
The performance impact of larger tables largely depends on how you access the tables. The size of the table will not really affect Inserts. Updates and Selects will become slower as the table increases, however, the magnitude of the impact will depend on how you access the tables. If most queries/updates go after single rows using a PK, then the impact will be minimal. If most queries/updates affect large numbers of rows using unindexed columns as selection criteria, then the impact is potentially huge.
Depending on the nature of the data, and the way it is used, you may want to investigate partioning as a way of limiting the number of rows that need to be searched for any given query/update. Even with 500,000 rows currently and 50,000 a month coming in, you probably have several months to look at it before anything drastic needs to be done.
Just make sure that you analyze the fast changing tables frequently.

GUI related problem in solaris 8 02/04
Hello all,
I am facing GUI related problem in the software running on solaris when I upgraded from solaris 8 02/02 to 8 02/04.
The GUI which was working fine on 02/02 was giving some menu selection problem in 02/04. In GUI applications i was unable to select items after double clicking it in solaris 8 02/04 while it was working fine in solaris 8 02/02.
Are there any O.S. related problem?
Thanks and regards,

Hi guys and ladys!
I added the LD_LIBRARY_PATH, Why are you doing that. It's probably a bad idea.
but the Openwindows not run OK (e.g. start cmdtool window without csh % prompt etc.).That's very possible. Don't make global changes to LD_LIBRARY_PATH (by putting in your login files for example). Instead if you need it to run a particular program, make a wrapper that sets the variable and then calls the program. That will limit the scope of those changes.
vi .login
# Erasing LD_LIBRARY_PATH
setenv LD_LIBRARY_PATH
# Important Paths set
setenv LD_LIBRARY_PATH /usr/ucblib:$LD_LIBRARY_PATHDon't do that.

Just to give an example, Microsoft IIS webserver provides the
performance counters, which one can read from registry using
APIs provided by Microsoft from a C/C++ program and get all the
performance related data ... r some similar interfaces
provided by iPlanet webserver ???The spell checked version...
I really appreciate the replies. I have looked into RMI and think it might fit the bill, ,BUT, let me clarify a bit and see if there are any other ideas floating around out there.
A user, using a web interface on machine A will click the , "I want my file" button. This flags the DB to create a file for that user. I will have multiple daemons running on other machines B,C,D whose sole job is to check the db, compile the file (This is the part that takes huge overhead so I wanted it distributed), then write the file. The trick is the file needs to be written to machine A. So I figure, using RMI, I can write a simple "write this file" object that will accept a byte stream or byte array, and a correct path to write to. Does this sound like a good methodology?
I've never done anything like this so I am really shooting in the dark.
Thanks again for the posts.

End of ReportHow did you calculated all these ratios............I looked through the formatted output of the Statspack report, specifically the setion "SQL ordered by reads for DB" and found these SQL statements which are performing a large number of physical reads. Most of the SQL statements have similar WHERE clauses, except for the constants to the right of the = :

i also wanted to learn how to read the

Need help with applet related problems
First of all hello to everyone. I'm new to this forum. I usually can solve my problems google-ing around, but this time I just ran out of ideas.
I'm trying to develop a jni applet that can run native code for performance. I used netbeans so far and the applet works great when run from within the ide. At some point a managed to make the applet run inside firefox and iexplore, however somehow i screwed something up and now i can't make it run anymore. I don't really know what i did but i think it may be related to these lines in the console since everything up until awt works fine in the applet:
basic: JNLP2ClassLoader.findLibrary: Looking up native library: jawt.dll
network: Looking up native library in: C:\Users\Gladiator\AppData\LocalLow\Sun\Java\Deployment\cache\6.0\10\1082924a-7851bf5e-n\jawt.dll
basic: Native library jawt.dll not found
Ofc i may be wrong.
This also my be a local problem because a friend of mine tried the applet himself and said it's working.
All the jars are selfsigned.
below i posted the console output in case you want to take a look. Also I am interested about the "try again.." messages that seem to pop over and over again.

-----I am sorry for bold, i came here to ask for help. I used bold to differentiate output from my questions since i couldn't find tags.
I already validated jnlp using JaNeLA and got only optimization suggestions.
As I said in first post, this works for a friend of mine, so it's possible a local issue with my java or something ...
Also i reinstalled jre/jdk 7.0, then uninstalled and installed latest jre/jdk 6.
Hope I didn't leave a bad impression, i just want help. -
Since yesterday evening i'm experiencing some problem. I've noticed it's related to mdworker running in the background constantly when i'm downloading (using torrent client transmission). Whenever i'm downloading multiple files, going up to 100 kb/s and more I've noticed mdworker rising up in my activity monitor with CPU percentages ranging from 20 to 80 %. While I know mdworker's indexing is needed for, amongst others, spotlight, it causes my fan to run wild. I've read some mdworker related topics so far and read about mdworker causing the fan to speed up (especially since 10.5.7). However, this was caused mostly due to corrupted quicktime libraries. I don't think my problem has anything to do with those. I know one solution for my problem is setting download folder in spotlight to private, but this seems to me like a last resort, mainly because I hadn't been experiencing any problems untill yesterday.
Strange no-one comes up with this:
Transmission causes a lot of changes to files at high speed, and Spotlight wants to catch up with those changes.
So here is the trick:
add the Transmission download directory to the Spotlight's ignore list:
System Preferences -> Spotlight -> Privacy tab -> Drag your download location to the list, or add it with the +-button.
Saves you some overheating and gives you CPU performance for better purposes. -
Business Intelligence and performance point problem
Hi Everyone,
Please does anyone know why creating a dashboard from a Sharepoint list is such a hassle. I have configured performance point services, a secure store and a business intelligent website that has a data connection library and Performance Point content
list . Unfortunately anytime I try to use dashboard designer to create a new data source and specify the site settings(using unattended account method) I can't save it. It gives me an error claiming that I either don't have permissions or the data source
doesn't exist.
A search around the web for answers doesn't seems to solve my problem as it suggests that the problem is associate with many things which I'm not clear about. Please could someone who is good at this at least tell me the critical things to check and the
clearest way to set this up.
Thanks,
DominicHi Dominic,
According to your error " I either don't have permissions or the data source doesn't exist", it should be related to the unattended account permission.
Once the unattended service account has been configured, you must grant that account access to your data sources:
For SQL Server data, the account must have a SQL logon with db_datareader permissions on each database that you want to access.
For SQL Server Analysis Services data, the account must have read access to the cube or an appropriate portion of the cube, depending on your needs.
For Excel Services data, the account must have access to the Excel workbook in a SharePoint document library.
For data in a SharePoint list, the account must have read access to the list.
