Your client does not want you to use the scripts provided by Oracle that do exactly what you want but will allow you to run sripts that come from some unknown (to the client, at least) source????

  • INSERT Script stored as "SQL Statement Script" not firing on Oracle Alert

We are using Alert Manager to run Alerts based on absence information in EBS R12.1.3 HR tables.
    Application: Human Resources
    Period/Event: Periodic
    Frequency: Every Day
    The Alert has 2 actions.
One is to email a supervisor based on the Alert SQL finding staff who have had x number of absences over a set period of time.
    That is working fine.
The other action is defined as an "SQL Statement Script".
The SQL script inserts the variables defined in the SQL from the main Alert definition SQL, into a custom table.
When the Alert fires, we are getting the email generated, but the INSERT statement isn't firing.
However, when we look at the result of the Alert when it has run, and look at the steps which were fired, we can see the email step and the SQL step. When we look at the SQL in the SQL step which was generated, we can copy and paste it direct into TOAD and it works fine.
We have tried a simple SQL INSERT statement which even just does:
    INSERT INTO xx_tmp (VALUE1_DATE, VALUE2) VALUES (SYSDATE, 'this');
But even that does not work.
We wonder if the issue is that we cannot do a direct INSERT from an alert type of "SQL Statement Script"?
We have found another Alert which does a direct UPDATE on a table, but the SQL Statement Script definition has "Purchasing" as the Application, because it's updating a PO table.
In our case, we're trying to insert into a custom table held in our in-house XX schema.
Could the problem be that we don't have the "Application" set? If that's the case, we don't have a corresponding application anyway.
Or can we not do a direct INSERT like this - do we need to use a package instead, and call that?
    Any advice much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi Brian,
Alert issue - Custom SQL fix
    1. Define actions via "Actions" button on Alert Definition
    2. Create an action for e.g. "Send Message to Supervisor"
       Action type: message
Action - sends email to people
    3. Create another action called e.g. "Insert Record"
       Action type: SQL Statement Script
Fill in SQL in the "Text" section, no need to add a begin or end bit, just a simple INSERT INTO X etc ending with a semi colon
    4. Back on the main alert definition window, go to "Action Sets" button
Here, need one SEQ for the Message / Email (e.g. Seq 1), and then click on "Action Set Details" and click on "Members" tab and select the "Send Message to Supervisor" Action
Then close the "Action Set Details" window, and return to the "Action Sets" window
click into 2nd line, add e.g. Seq 2, and call it e.g. "Insert Record", click on "Action Set Details" > Members tab and select the "Insert Record" The problem was that in the first instance, we had a single Action Set, and under "Members" had selected the "Send Message to Supervisor" and "Insert Record" at the same time.
Short answer: each Action needs to be defined as a separate line in the Action Sets definition.

  • How to monitor worst performing sql statements

    Hi,
I am new to oracle 9i release 2. I come from the Windows world, where we used sql server.
When we performanced tested our product, we always monitor the worst performaning sql statement using the sql profiler. At the end of a 24 hour test, the profiler will list the sql statement with the longest execution time. What is the equivalent Oracle 9i tools that will allow me to monitor the worst performaning sql during a test that lasts between 10 to 24 hours?
    Thanks,
    Paul0al

Besides statspack and OEM you have a few other options.
If an SQL statement had been identified as performing poorly or a job that you can extract the SQL from then you have the option of explaining all the SQL statements and just reviewing the plans for reasonableness. You can also trace actual execution of the task or individual statemnts (alter session set sql_trace = true for basic 10046 event).
When the SQL has not been identified in advance you can query the shared pool SQL areas for SQL statements that have relatively high physical, logical, or combined IO counts. Then you can perform tuning activities for these statements.

  • Alert not firing for SQL Statement Script

    Hi All,
I have defined an alter which will trigger when a requisition is stuck with the requestor.
At the time i need to send an email to the requestor and update the status of the requisition to 'INCOMPLETE'.
i have defined two action sets one for email and another for update. The email part is working fine but the sql script which updates the status is not firing.
It is a standard script residing in PO directory sql.
    It has two parameters
    1) Requisition number 2) org_id
these two are the output of the mail alert query.
i have defined the application as 'Puchasing'
    arguments as &SQL_REQ_NUMBER &SQL_ORG_ID
and gave the file name 'poresreq.sql' in the file location.
but the status is not updating.
how can i know the reason for not firing.

    Jana

    Hi Jana;
What is your EBS and OS? Did you run query manualy? Did you get any error message?

for both days (i.e In this case 3rd january's rate is applied on both 4th and 5th january) ,
Similarly, 7th and 8th january are holidays so that's why 6th January's Exchange Rate is applied on both 7th & 8th January.
so,I need to write a query which will give such result as described in table B.

You haven't specified your database version for us.
You haven't provided example data in a form we can use (CREATE TABLE/INSERT statements, or a WITH clause).
You haven't specified your expected output based on that example data.
You haven't formatted your code/data using {noformat}{noformat} tags.

  • SQL statement help needed

I am sure some of you will laugh lol, but I am drawing a blank and need some assistance if anyone is willing to help:
    I have this query:
    SELECT DISTINCT ID
    FROM (SELECT productcode
    FROM sforce_product2
    WHERE productcode NOT LIKE 'DSXXX%'
AND productcode NOT LIKE 'DO NOT USE%'
    AND productcode NOT LIKE 'MAXXXX%'
    AND isactive = 'true'
    MINUS
    SELECT productcode
    FROM vew_product_export) a,
    sforce_product2
    WHERE a.productcode = sforce_product2.productcode
which returns 112 ID's (which is wrong)
    The inner SELECT statement:
    SELECT productcode
    FROM sforce_product2
    WHERE productcode NOT LIKE 'DSXXX%'
AND productcode NOT LIKE 'DO NOT USE%'
    AND productcode NOT LIKE 'MAXXXX%'
    AND isactive = 'true'
    MINUS
    SELECT productcode
    FROM vew_product_export
    returns 106.
Am I doing something simple wrong or is my query just mangled!
    TIA,
    Mike

      SELECT DISTINCT ID
        FROM (SELECT productcode
                FROM sforce_product2
               WHERE productcode NOT LIKE 'DSXXX%'
AND productcode NOT LIKE 'DO NOT USE%'
                 AND productcode NOT LIKE 'MAXXXX%'
                 AND isactive = 'true'
              MINUS
              SELECT productcode
                FROM vew_product_export) a,
              sforce_product2
WHERE a.productcode = sforce_product2.productcodethe above code is returning an ID column which i think most probable from the sforce_product2 table
while this query below returns the 106 value that is coming from the column productcode.
      SELECT productcode
        FROM sforce_product2
       WHERE productcode NOT LIKE 'DSXXX%'
AND productcode NOT LIKE 'DO NOT USE%'
         AND productcode NOT LIKE 'MAXXXX%'
         AND isactive = 'true'
      MINUS
      SELECT productcode
FROM vew_product_exportso i think there is nothing wrong because if you will review the 112 is from the column ID while the 106 is from the column productcode.

  • Sender JDBC adapter : Update SQL Statement : stored procedure

    Hi,
Can we use a stored procedure in the sender jdbc adapter in 'Update SQL Statement'.
The problem i am facing is like, we are selecting data from two tables in 'SQL statement for query' and then in 'Update SQL Statement' , we need to delete that data from these two tables.
Please let me know if it is possible.
    Thanks,
    Rohit

you can use a Stored procedure in the
    Query SQL Statement
    You have the following options:
    ·        Specify a valid SQL SELECT statement to select the data to be sent from the specified database.
    ·        Specify an SQL EXECUTE statement to execute a stored procedure, which contains exactly one SELECT statement.
The expression must correspond to the SQL variant supported by the relevant JDBC driver. It can also contain table JOINs.
so have your whole select and update as part of this single Stored procedure

However, most DBAs (even MS SQL Server ones) will tell you that that is bad form.
And of course the reason for doing that should never be because those field names are being displayed. Displaying field names breaks every model that seperates data from display (GUI.)

    The syntax should be

'AND' is improperly placed in the SET.

  • SQL Statement ignored performing List of Values query

Hi, New user just learning the basics. I have created a simple table PERSON with columns, ID, firstname, lastname, phone, city, State_ID
Then clicked create Lookup table - State_Lookup with columns State_ID and State_Name.
I create a page, include all columns from PERSON. For State the field is a select list that should do a lookup form the STATE_LOOKUP table. (I have entered 4 states in the table)
I am getting the following error however:
    Error: ORA-06550: line 1, column 14: PL/SQL: ORA-00904: "STATE_ID": invalid identifier ORA-06550: line 1, column 7: PL/SQL: SQL Statement ignored performing List of Values query: "select STATE_ID d, STATE_ID v from STATE_ID_LOOKUP order by 1".
I have not entered any sql, just selected all of my options using defaults and dropdowns. What is causing the error and what do I need to change?
    Thanks

Okay, learned something: The database link name used, must not contain a dash. The DB_DOMAIN is appended automatically when you create a DB link, so if IT contains a dash, the db link name does as well. Check DBA_DB_LINKS to make sure you don't hit this well-hidden feature.

    REgards,
    Abhishek

Thanks, but most of the people in the industry are still using the same, and it is working on their Machine
As far as I remember 9.2.0.2 was never released, one needed to install at least 9.2.0.4 (or .5). That´s why the official installation guides tell you to install the latest patches PLUS the latest interim patches for the database.
On top of that, Oracle 9.2 is out of extended support already, I would get a new installation CD set with Oracle 10g and use that for a new installation.
why it is not working on my machine?
Because those old database versions have many bugs that are fixed with patches - so why do you want to run such an old version if one KNOWS that it´s buggy and there are patches to fix those errors?
secondly from where i will get the latest patches, as told by you. pl do let me know any website from where i can down load them
    Check
    Note 938986 - Oracle Database 9.2: Patches for 9.2.0

    Hi Vishnu,
According to your description, you want to list all countries, states and cities, right?
I have tested it on my local environment, here is a sample script for you reference.
    select
    [dbo].[Country].[CountryId]
    , [dbo].[Country].[CountryName]
    , [dbo].[State].[StateId]
    , [dbo].[State].[StateName]
    , [dbo].[City].[CityId]
    , [dbo].[City].[CityName]
    from
    [dbo].[Country]
    left join [dbo].[State] on [dbo].[Country].[CountryId]=[dbo].[State].[CountryId]
    left join [dbo].[City] on [dbo].[State].[StateId]=[dbo].[City].[StateId]
