PERNR search help in ABAP Web Dynpro

All,
I wish to add a search help based on PERNR into my web dynpro application.
I have used the code:
*create a range table
lt_range_table = wd_this->m_handler->create_range_table( i_typename = 'ZEMP_SEL' ).
*add a new field to range table
wd_this->m_handler->add_selection_field( i_id = 'PERNR'
it_result = lt_range_table
i_read_only = read_only ).
And I have defined ZEMP_SEL as a data element with domain PERNR. This has added the search help to my screen but when i used it and select an entry from the search help, it populates the screen with the employee name and not the employee number.
Does anybody know why this would happen? or what should I use in I_TYPENAME for the search help to work properly

i want to achieve XK03 Tcode payment mode search help functionality in abap webdynpro,in clearly When i press f4 i payment mode input field a view should open with different payment modes like
a.ebanking payment method,
b.ebanking treasury pay method,
c.cheque ..etc..with check boxes when i select a and b methods types it should concatinate and shown as ab in payment methods field.
I checked for this there is no predefined search helpin data element level(dzwels),and domain level,i hope it is provided by programming.

how to re use the same screen design which is in XK03?

R/3 search helps in java web dynpro

Hello,
A customer of ours has some Z transactions in its R/3 system, which basically present a very simplyfied version of MIGO. This Z transaction makes extencive use of Search Helps, which in some cases have been extended.
A ABAP developer with some Web Dynpro experience showed me that it was easy to integrate these search helps into his web dynpro application.
I cannot find how to do this in java web dynpro with the developer studio. Is this possible and if yes, how?

Hi Walter,
You can use search helps in Web Dynpro for Java also. The feilds with check table in R/3 automatically give search helps. To provide explicit search help you need use EVS or OVS.

Search Help exits using Web Dynpro abap

Hi,
Before returning the values selected by the user to the input field, i have to set a column of the F4 result list based on some computation. How can i do that?

         I have a small doubt in web dynpro Java. Basically I am an ABAP developer. We created some custom Remote function modules (RFM). Now are able to call RFM through web dynpro JAVA in the portal. We are able to run the RFMs in the portal.
         But we have problem with search help. How can I built the search help for the input fields in the portal using web Dynpro Java.
         Can we bring standard search help (which is exist in R/3) in the portal?

I think there is no standered functionality available in WDJava to achieve this functionality like ABAP or WDAbap. but, you can still achieve this using OVS option. to do this also, first you should have an interface which can talk to the R3 system and search the dB as per the query parameters i.e, an RFC which can the desired form of input and give you the desired output.

Is abap web dynpro is a netweaver product?

Dear experts,
is abap web dynro is a netweaver product? ..i wonder why is it categorized under application server in sdn forums can anyone explian..
in addition to abap i am willing to learn abap web dynpro.how would be the prospectes of abap web dynpro in the us market ...or do u suggest any other hot topic to learn?..please feel free to comment on my idea and kindly suggest me a better option if my idea is not ideal....
i am not into java till now so i am not willing to learn java web dynpro..
please suggest a better option so that i can use my abap skills to the fullest..

Yes, ABAP Web dynpro is a Netweaver product. It cums with mySAP suite.
This is the hot technology in the market and if you are not a JAVA guy then you must go with ABAP Web dynpro.
Basically with the help of ABAP Web dynpro we develope custom products for the client. this is UI based technology and one of best option for "ABAPers" .
For Web dynpro ABAP you will require SAP ECC 6.0 onwards and WAS 7.0

Entering Data in Table (ABAP Web Dynpro )

Hi Experts,
I need help in ABAP Web Dynpro Table. I have a table where multiple line item rows are there.
In each row there is a input text field to enter the quantity. Usually the the user would not click the lead selection and enter the field value. The user would enter the value in any of the rows, but the lead selection will not change accordingly. therefore the validation will not work properly.
Kindly guide me the way.

If you have any button in the view,suppose like save or before leaving that particular view ypu can do the validations.
if you have a button.
What you can do is ,on action handler of button
Read the table and loop through it and do the validations.

ABAP Web Dynpro application in new UWL tab

Hi All,
I have been looking for an option to open a web dynrpo abap application in a new tab in UWL which i created. I have been searching on SDN for this but i could only find the help docs which say how to open a task in web dynrpo abap application.
But in my case i want to open a web dynpro abap application on click of a new tab in UWL. The WD ABAP application doesn't have any workflow task.
Also is it possible to restrict the tabs which user see based on their roles ?
please help me on this.

how did you open in administrative mode?
to open in adminstrative mode do as follows:
In se80 ,i.e in the menu bar:
Web Dynpro Application->Test->Test in Administation mode.
i hope u can see the option "Settings for surrent config" .

Hi Ahmed,
I dont think there are any standard components available on Webdynpro Java like ABAP. But, there are quite a few standard Project available on SDN if you want to practise some exercises. Just do a search on SDN you get lot of standard example projects that you download and Import them in to the WebDynpro Java Perspective of NWDS.

IView not found error when excuting ABAP Web Dynpro iView

Hi Chinna,
You need to check the following parameters like
Namespace - should be 'sap' as this is root node in SICF
Application Name: - check name of WD application in se80

Convert JAVA Web Dynpro to ABAP Web Dynpro application

Hi,
I was hoping someone could tell me if there is a way to port a JAVA Web Dynpro application to ABAP Web Dynpro. We have some JAVA WD apps that would now make more sense to have running on our ABAP system so we would like to convert them to ABAP WD apps.
I know the theory is that WD is metadata/XML based so it should be possible to port the WD definition to ABAP and have the ABAP runtime generate the application again in ABAP. I expect that any custom code that is written in JAVA would need to be manually rewritten in ABAP - but it would be great if there was tool or method to at least port the majority of the application.

You are correct in thinking that all WD apps are based on metadata, but unfortunately, the similarity between WD Java and WD ABAP is just a conceptual one, and no such tool exists to convert one to the other.
In addition to this, there are certain implementation differences between ABAP and Java that mean you could not convert one to the other. For instance, the whole concept of model objects does not exist in WD ABAP. Therefore, structural entities used in WD Java such as model components could not be tranlsated into anything that exists in ABAP, because the concept is redundant in the target language.
Sorry about that, but Java and ABAP are sufficiently different beasts that such a tool is not possible.

Adding an ABAP Web Dynpro application to a Java Web Dynpro screen

Hey fellow SAPers
This is an interesting one .........
We have developed a bespoke ABAP Web Dynpro screen that we want to include into a tabstrip in a Java Web Wynpro application. We have managed to do this by inserting an iFrame into the tabstrip, and then passing the UWL of the ABAP Web Dynpro app. This works. However, life is never that easy and of course whenever the screen is refreshed, the ABAP WD app is called again and so any changes to the data on the ABAP screen are lost as the data in the ABAP app is re-selected and the data returns to it's original state.
Does anyone know:
- of another way to incorporate an ABAP WD screen into a Java WD screen (as a tabstrip)
- how to de-activate a Java view so that the view containing the ABAP WD app is refreshed (i.e. the window is refreshed), the view is not refreshed and the ABAP app is not re-called .....
- any other ideas ....
of course, we could re-develop the same screen in Javam, but that would be too easy

I'm guessing you want to show this within the WDJ app not above, below to the left, right...
This is a very very difficult thing to do - I'm guessing that you are not actively passing data into the URL of the WDJ IFrame, but just have "decorated" the WDJ app with the a statically linked IFrame. In this case the only thing you have to tie the two together is the user id that you are using - and potentially the time the app was launched. You could in theory use a shared memory area (watch out for multi app server environments) to store the state of the app in case it got refreshed... but this is not a simple thing to do...
Consider if it is absolutely necessary to enhance the WDJ in place - hopefully you can just replace it with a WDA when you install EhP5

Call a ABAP Web-Dynpro-application via a BSP-Application

We have a BSP-Framework, that call several applications among other things other BSP-Applications, ITS-Application and other systems. Now I want to integrate a ABAP Web Dynpro-Application.
For the moment I can call the ABAP Web Dynpro-Application from our application.
This application runs in the same session as the Framework (verify in transaction sm04).
When I want to call another application in the Framework, the session will be killed (no more sessions in sm04). This happens also, when I want to call the ABAP Web Dynpro-Application a second time.
I guess, that the ABAP-Framework thinks I want to go outside the system (for example www.google.de) and close the session. I found out, that this wouldn't happen, if the application were suspended. But I found no way to tell the application via a url-parameter to suspend.
Can someone help me?

but I can't firea suspend plug. Because I'm in BSP. I understand the docu so, that you have the option to call a other apllication like BSP from a ABAP Web Dynpro.
I want to call the ABAP Web Dynpro form BSP like this way.
1. Start BSP-Framework
2. Call ABAP Web-Dynpro-Application from BSP
3. Call another Application from BSP without automatically logout by unload ABAP Web Dynpro. (I have a chance to call the ABAP Web Dynpro again via url to suspend before I call the other app.)

ABAP Web dynpro iview in your own namespace

Dear All,
We have our own name space in ECC under which all our portal development have taken place. When we test our abap web dynpro application it works fine as we have created a new node in SICF /<namespace>/webdynpro.
But now when we create ABAP webdynpro IView in portal it always opens up the iview with http://hostname:port/sap/bc/webdynpro/<namespace>/webdynpro/applicationname
where as we want
http://hostname:port/<namespace>/webdynpro/applicationname

To begin with -
Is there any specific need to have separate namespace at ECC level.
I believe name space is more relevant at the Java stack where we have com.abc instead of com.sap.
You define ZA and ZC for your Web Dynpro App and Component respectively & placed under ZXXX package name.
So the custom is clearly distinguishable from standard. So, is there a strong business need to define a separate namespace in ECC ?
By default when you create your Z WD - It gets added under /sap/bc/webdynpro/sap/za_* for instance.
So long story short - It is better to house your custom WD ABAP under standard SAP namespace, taking care of other Z conventions. Because from Portal integration stand point this works better currently (could be a framework limitation at this point).
In your case -
see if you have 2 WDA services under default and custom namespace in SICF. In case of duplicate deactivate the one you dont require. Make a reference from iView and specify the custom namespace in the iView.
Worst case switch to Option # 1.

Use ZBEX Anonymous Login Service in BIApplicationFrame in ABAP Web Dynpro

Hello,
We created a ZBEX Service as an alias of the BEX Service as per SAP OSS Note 516884 to allow users to anonymously access BW reports.
Now we want to embed the BI Web Application in an ABAP Webdynpro as a BIApplicationFrame.
Note that the ABAP Web Dynpro is on the SAP R/3 ERP side while BI is a separate BW instance.
The problem we are facing is the standard BIApplicationFrame element uses the SAP standard BEX service when it forms the URL and we do not seem to have a way to make it use the ZBEX Anonymous login service. Hence it always asks for the logon screen defeating our purpose.
Has anybody done been able to make the BIApplicationFrame use ZBEX service and if yes, what is the solution to this problem?

Hi Ankur,
Someone will somewhere call the EJB (not: "Java Bean"!). As an EJB isn't part of a request/response cycle but mainly thought for business logic, it is of course the task of the calling component to deliver the user (his logonID for example) to the EJB. There is not other way!
