Persistent Kernel Panics--need help!
I've had constant kernel panics lately and need some help where to start.
I replaced RAM and tested it, installed Leopard, cleaned caches... the list goes on.
Here's my panic log:

Repeating kernel panics, need help.
Okay, since today my Mac is totally unstable. It randomly freezes, won't wake up from sleep mode. I have seen different forms of kernel panics in the last hour, one with the "Please restart your computer" and another one where I could see lines describing the panic on the screen, just like in SUM.
It gets even stranger. When I restarted it like I was told (Holding down the power button) it didn't boot properly, instead the screen went for red to green to blue, then all three mixed in three different ways. It was like an acid trip. I waited, but it kept on repeating, so I held the power button for another 3 seconds. This time it booted properly, yet froze at the login screen. Next try, I could log back into OS X.
Here's the description of the panic:

Oh, and another thing, I can't boot from DVD/CD anymore.
Someone please help me, since I need the iBook tomorrow at school.
iBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.5) 60 Gb HD, 768 Mb Ram, Radeon 9200Scalepet,
This kind of thing happened to my brother's computer once; though, his was a blue & white G3 PowerMac with Panther. But that's not to specific to what I think may be the problem.
Kernal panics, when they're this frequent and rarely allow you to completely boot and log in, are usually a sign of very, very bad hardware. When hardware goes corrupt-which it does-Mac OS X basically freaks out during the power-on self diagnostic.
Solution? Start removing hardware. No, I don't mean grab the Alan Wrench and start removing the GPU and Optical Drive; I mean removing hardware that you were able to add; basically, stuff that didn't roll out of the factory in your computer.
Seeing as you have an iBook, this option is somewhat limited. But the kernal report is showing that you have 768MB RAM, which means that you have upgraded your RAM. So, lift up the keyboard, get to the RAM, and remove the extra chip; I think that may be what's causing the meltdown. If not, try the Airport Extreme card, if you have one. Also, your external hardware--USB mice, for example--should be unplugged.
Best of luck,
Nick L. -
Lot's of Kernel Panics Need Help
Hello every one,
I have the late 2008 Macbook pro (2,8ghz), And I have almost every day a Kernel Panic, first I want to say that I have checked the Hardware with the Cd nothing is wrong, and also I have repair all the autorisations.
Apparently the kernel panics always Occur while using eyetv (eyetv diversity with eyetv 3.0.4 ). It occur almost at any moment, sometimes even when I am not in from of my computer...
But I have been using Eyetv for years on my older computer, and I never had a kernel panic...
Am I the only one? Do you suffer from the same problem?
Do you have any idea for me to stop the kernel panic to occur?
Thank You!
If this can help you here are the 2 last Kernel panic Log I had.

KPs often can be caused by faulty RAM.

Week Old MacBook Air - Random Kernel Panics - NEED HELP!
Specs : MacBook Air 11" - i7 - 8GB RAM - 256 SSD
I have had this laptop for a little over a week now and continuously keep having KPs, what seem to be random and not tied to any specific program, just seems to happen while I am download a file from the internet. Frustrating because I can not even download the update form 10.8.0 -> 10.8.2!!!
I have done the following:
-Reset PRAM
-Reset SMC
-Restored from SCRATCH
-Disconnected all peripherals
-Tested RAM with memtest (OK)
-Tested HDD with DiskUtility (OK)
I would just bring it back to an Apple store, but I live in the Dominican Republic and picked it up while I was passing through Miami.
Below is the log form the most recent KP.
Please help!

After doing an extensive Hardware Test, I believe that I found the culprit. Looks like my "brand new" Macbook Air came with a faulty hdd. Seems to me as if Apple is starting to cut corners and be the Apple of old... Using their image to demand premium price and maximize profit while progressively using cheaper and cheaper parts within their products.
1. You clearly have no understanding of statistics and failure rate. Even a company with the most efficient and best products will have a certain rate of failure (even some products arriving dead on arrival), regardless of how much they do or do not spend on components and quality control.
2. Apple doesn't manfacture the hard drives.
3. How do you know how much they spend on parts? -

I've recently had 8 major crashes on my Mac book I'm running 10.5.1 with 2 gigs of ram. Here is the latest can anyone tell what is causing this. Three times the computer just restarted itself in the middle of a session.

installed Yosemite and now my MacBook pro won't start up. Keeps showing "kernel panic"
PLEASE HELP ME!If you can't start up and log in in the usual way, try in safe mode.
During startup, you’ll see a progress bar, and then the login screen, which appears even if you normally log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Log in as an administrator to carry out these instructions. If you have only one account, you are the administrator.
☞ If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a panic, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
Safe mode is slower than normal, and some things won’t work at all.
Note: If FileVault is enabled in OS X 10.9 or earlier, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a software RAID, you can’t start in safe mode.
If you're able to log in, launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ System Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of reports. A panic report has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends in ".panic". Select the most recent one. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report. -

After reading through the discussions, I have come to the conclusion that my computer is experiencing kernel panic. For the last two weeks it has been asking me to restart after I start up. I do- and then it seems to run ok- but very, very slowly.
So, I restarted in safeboot in order to delete any "recent or relevant" .kext files i found in system/library/extensions.
I did not find any that were recent except for itunes update.
so, i deleted the bootcache.ktext. and restarted.
upon restart, my computer was doing great until i pugged in my usb from my modem into the comptuer to connect to the internet. then got the restart screen.
then i checked the panic log and found this:

i don't know what this means- but i see some "usb" letters in there and wonder if this has anything to do with the external modem that my broadband company gave me. although i've been using it for a while and this has only happened recently.
next idea, is that i have recently installed third party software. I cannot determine what was the most recent (is there a log of this?) so i can uninstall it (and how do you go about uninstalling software- just trash it?)
I have recently installed Skype software for VOIP- but i've had it for a month now and this has only happened in the last 2 weeks. I'd unistall it but do not know how.
If someone could look at that log and decipher it- that would be great.
and- honestly, i need a true step by step plan to slove the issue.
thanks!!!I will run the test after work today- do I just put in the installation disk or do i need to be in safe boot mode?
I think yours is a good theory- that would explain why my computer is suddenly sooo slow.
If my memory did get knocked out of place- will i have to send it in to be repaired?
But then again- how could this be connected to the USB port?
i've repaired permissions yesterday before the posting. it found lots of errors and said it repaired them. do i need to run it again until it doesn't find any?
The other thing i'm wondering is that I only have 17 days left on my warranty- Should I purchase applecare? i used to think this was ripoff but now i might be singing to a different tune.
Thanks for your help- i'll let you know how it goes this evening. -

For almost two months, I've been trying to resolve a kernel panic issue with a MacBook Pro purchased 6/06. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.
Here are the logs of the two most-recent kernel panics (one of which occurred when the user woke the MacBook from sleep; the other may have occurred during a startup, but I'm unsure):

More details: Most if not all of this MacBook Pro's kernel panics have occurred either during startup or when waking from sleep; they occur inconsistently.
When the KPs first surfaced, I used disk utility and noted an error (invalid extent entry). What followed was wiping the hard drive and reinstalling the OS and other applications more than once, including once after calling Apple tech support\. I've zapped PRAM, ran Apple's HW test (indicated no problems) and rebuilt permissions along the way.
The panics persisted, so I called Apple tech support again (case #66615064). As a result, I had the user boot in safe mode. No problems occurred during startups in safe mode, but the user needed to reboot in standard mode to get his work done. There does not seem to be anything in the Library/Startup Items of the Accounts/Login Items that could account for the kernel panics.
I was in the process of setting up an external HD as step #2 of the troubleshooting steps suggested to me by Apple tech support when I came across discussions here suggesting that Airport may be to blame and that a patch had just today (?) become available. The user will be downloading the software update this afternoon, but at this point I don't know if this will solve the issue.
I've also seen posts here indicating the only true solution is a new motherboard. I also understand that external devices may be to blame; the user has an external Apple keyboard, Microsoft USB mouse and Apple display. Here is probably way too much info from the system profiler:

MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.7)
MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.7)Thanks to Garret Textor1 and iVmichael, this problem is solved: As soon as I pulled a third-party RAM chip, the kernel panics went away. And Kingston readily is sending a replacement, which is also good news.
Now, I'd like to mark the answers given by Garret and ivMichael with "solved" stars, but I've already marked them as helpful. How do I do this?
Thanks again!
G4 Mac OS X (10.4.7) -
After update Mac Pro boots to grey screen with Kernel Panic. Help please.
It would be great if someone can help me out. Yesterday I did a software update of iTunes and osx (it said to ease update to Lion) and now my Mac Pro tower (MacPro3,1) boots to a grey screen, kernel panic, telling me that I need to power down and restart my machine. I can boot into osx via the safe mode but unfortunately I don't have an install disk to repair the system disk. What are my options?
The machine appears to work in safe mode. I have tried resetting the PRAM. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Time since boot: 16 minutesThere's no point in reinstalling the same driver. It hasn't changed. It's incompatible with the OS update. Contact the device manufacturer to see if there's a driver update. In the meantime, you should physically remove the device so the driver doesn't load. If you uninstall the driver and leave the device installed, that might also cause a panic.

com.apple.kec.corecrypto 1.0If you have upgraded the RAM, the likely cause is upgraded RAM or some other hardware issue. Sources of RAM caused KP's are:
Failed RAM
Incorrect RAM
Unseated RAM
Start by removing all upgraded RAM and replace with the original RAM the computer shipped with and then test. If they KP's disappear you know your issue is RAM related to the upgraded RAM. -
Battery Failure and Kernel Panics. Help!
Hi all,
Thanks in advance for your help.
About a week ago, after I had left my computer alone for two days, it randomly shut off when the meter up top said it had 40 minutes. Then, when it was closed in sleep mode and I opened it, it told me it had to be restarted--which I, through reading the forum, found out is a kernel panic. Since then it has not given me any more kernel panics, however, it consistently turns off at about the forty minute mark. This is what I have done so far:
attempted to recalibrate the battery, which hasn't worked/I don't know if it really can because it doesn't get below 20% without shutting off. (btw, when I turn it back on, with the plug in, the battery is not dead, it's at around 20%).
have done the first three steps in the x guide to kernel panics.
Does this sound like a battery problem, and if so how do I solve that?
or does it sound like a kernel panic, hardware problem?
Thank you so much for any help, I desperately want to fix my computer.
Besos.
ibook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.8)Hi alby23,
Welcome to the Discussions.
If your computer is two years old, it's in need of a new battery. If you open System Profiler (Apple menu>About This Mac>More Info) the battery's capacity and charge cycles will be listed. If the Capacity is ~2000 you have less than 50% of a new battery's which is 4400mAh.
You may be able to solve part of the problem by resetting the PMU. That may get the time/percentage back to a more accurate number. If that doesn't help, get a new battery.

My macbook often kernel panic, if i plug hardisk external . can you help me for solve this problem ?
The forum specifically for MacBook Pro:

Avoiding eliminating Kernel panics
FAQ kernelpanic
Resolving Kernel Panics
Could be the case or cable - try a different cable.
If you are trying to use it with USB, do you have a different interface to use like Firewire?
When you do have panic, you also have left your internal system with corrupt directory that now needs to be repaired. Making and adding more problems.
Try boot from OS X DVD and repair your system - go to Utilty menu => Disk Utility: Repair disk drive
Get your system working. first.
Do you have backup from before this started? when or how did it begin?
What has happened to your external? able to repair the drive?
do you have a backup for it?
How is it formatted? what is it used for? TimeMachine? PC and Windows? other?
