Persistent Settings In Pseudo Device Driver

I am writing a meta device driver and need a way to make device settings persistent between reboots. I've tried the property update (ddi_prop_update_int) but these disappear on reboot.
Is there a way to do this?
Simon

Try using the driver.conf(4) file, you can then use the ddi_prop_get_int()(9F) to get it.

I have implemented a pseudo device driver. Can I export the device to multiple zones at the same time? All synchronization issues will be handled in the driver.
    Thanks!

yes, i think you could, just like to produce the zero, null those pseudo drivers. So you need to read the Solaris10 source code and undertand it how to create those pseudo drivers.

  • Windows 7 RC installation on MacBook Pro: 'DVD drive device driver missing'

I'm trying to install the Windows 7 RC on my unibody MacBook Pro (purchased november 2008). I create the partition in Boot Camp, insert the install DVD, and restart the system. Then the Windows setup starts as it's supposed to (Windows is loading files). The install program launches fine, and I get to choose language settings.
And now it all fails. After I've chosen language settings, I get the message: "A required CD(DVD drive device driver is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, DVD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now."
    Screenshot of the message: http://img25.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc00102yyh.jpg
I'm kinda baffled by this message. Obviously the drive can be use by the install program, but it still complains of a missing driver. I had no trouble installing the Windows 7 beta earlier this year.
I've done some googling, and it appears to be problem experienced by some others. Someone had the issue on an Asus machine (I think), and the solution was to download the driver and out it on a USB stick. But I can't seem to find the driver for the MBP DVD drive anywhere.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?

After countless days trying to solve this problem, I feel I can now add to the few solutions presented on the various forums of the internet. I'll post here because 1: i'm a mac user for everyday life although like most have as many pc's as well. 2: I already have a login for these forums!
okay so i tried everything from re-burns to usb install (which I could not complete because removable drives are not recognized by xp and I don't have a vista system). The problem for me ended up being because the DVD drive was plugged into the primary master ide channel. My hard drive for the unit i was installing windows on is sata and was configured as such (not bridged into IDE channel by bios). So in a nutshell it seems like the hard drive and the DVD drive are nit picky in regards to the IDE configuration of the drives themselves. This won't help for virtualization on a mac pro I realize but nonetheless is food for thought hopefully for all the people searching for " windows 7 install cd/dvd device driver missing " in their search engine!
Oh boy one more reason to love mac's

  • Flash Player Security Settings per your D:/ drive...

    Hi,
For anyone who read my post earlier in the day, I apologize for the redundancy; this is a new issue for me.
I've been working on an e-learning product using Flash Builder; it was developed to be web-based, but the client has changed the requirement and now they have requested a stand-alone dvd drive-based deliverable.
The project consists of a Main.html(launched per autorun.inf), Main.swf(which loads into Main.html no problem from the disk), and multiple .flv files - so Main.swf loads into Main.html from D:\ , but none of the .flv's will load. However, once I trust D:\ per going to the [Flash Player Settings Manager>Trusted Location Settings>add my D:\ drive to the Trusted File or Folder Location], everything runs well.
    My questions are:
    Why is that an issue?
Is there a way around it?
    What am I doing wrong?
Since everything is fully contained and running locally from the  D:\ drive, why does the Flash Player need me to trust that device in order to run the content? I t seems completely counter-intuitive which leaves me boggled.
When I build a release, everything works perfectly locally(without trusting the C:\ drive(obviously)), once I burn the files to disk the external content won't load until trusting D, and what's even MORE, when I copy the content "burned to disk" locally, it won't play either until I trust the C:\ drive!!
Little help, please? I know I'm doing something wrong, but I can't find anything online.
    Thanks in advance,
    ~Chipleh

    Hi mocca,
Thanks again for your reply. You are giving me things to re-think about, I thought about all these options yesterday, but now that you mention them as the solutions, I will re-think with more gusto. A few things I'm still dwelling on:
    Why is that an issue?
Because the users system settings should always override anything that comes from a disk... Same with any programm on my computer, if somwhere from a network/external drive wants to open my browser without my consent, why should it?
Agreed. It should not. However, per the paradigm of my project on disk, the user launches the browser, the browser loads the swf, but the loading of all the other content is restricted. That seems counter-intuitive - since the user has already launched the main app, they obviously trust the app to run on their box, but they now have to go through an extra 'security layer' step in order to load the accompanying content.
As per publishing to Air, I tried yesterday and Flash Builder kicked all sorts of errors. I'll try publishing to air more today...
In the mindset of the great John Peterman: "Ah, the 'client changing requirements', where the client's expectations are high, the knowledge of the "level of effort" is low, and the process is terribly frustrating."
    Thx again,
    Chipleh

  • WES 7 OSD standalone (works) vs bootable (fails) - Failed to find suitable device driver for device (help)

    Hi everyone,
I'm trying to deploy a Windows Embedded Standard 7 (trial key at the moment) image in SCCM 2012 SP1 with a very simple task sequence.
    I have a 'build and capture' and an OSD TS. I'm testing these on Hyper-V PCs and both work fine when i create stand alone media. The problem arrises when I try to deploy (or build & capture) with a bootable media;
The TS starts, formats the disk, applies the OS, Windows and network settings, Apply Device Drivers etc., but when it reboots into Windows
(or WES7 to be exact) it cant boot. The Windows Boot Manager reports a 0xc0000359 for storvsc.sys
And I can't figure out what's wrong. I will post the SMSTS log further down below. The SAME TS works fine when it's a stand alone media.
    I have tried to:
    - Apply the WIM manually (nothing wrong - boots fine)
    - Create and apply driver package for the Hyper-V machines (from the MSI's Windows5.x-HyperVIntegrationServices-x86 and Windows5.x-HyperVIntegrationServices-x64)
    - No dice
    - Create a new boot image with the hyper-v drivers in it. No dice
    - Google everything related I can think of.
I suspect it has something to do with the lines where it says:
"Failed to find a suitable device driver for device xxx”
It also has a couple of 401 errors when trying to get the packages, but it seems like it DOES end up getting the content.
Please help! What could it be?
I have 2 Hyper-V machines; one w. legacy network adapter - one not. Both have same issue.

  • Igxprd 32, device driver stuck in an infinite loop

Just attempted to reset a hard drive on our T61 to its factory settings (Windows XP) using the "Recovery CD Set"  (rescue and recovery cd, supplemental product recover cd, and 6 product recovery cd's).  During the final step, the computer reboots itself; however, Windows can't load.  I keep getting an error on a small blue screen, referencing a problem with "igxprd32" and that the device driver got stuck in an infinite loop.  How can I fix this issue.  (Product ID 6465CT0)  Thank you!

Kindly try to boot the system into Safe mode and then uninstall the display driver.
After this you should able too boot the system into normal mode. Download the latest driver from lenovo website

  • Upgrde NI-488.2 device driver

I'm currently running NI device driver 2.73 on my Windows 7 system.  I'd like to update the device driver to the latest-and-greatest NI-488.2 (version 3.0.2 I think).  Can I just install the new device driver or do I need to uninstall the old NI stuff first?
    Thanks, Mike
    Solved!

    Hi Wear,
Thanks for the quick response.  I installed the NI-488.2 3.0.2 package on my Win7 system and everything seemed to install OK.
But, now when I run MAX 5.1 and look at my (only) GPIB-USB-HS device MAX tells me that "GPIB interface properties can only be changed by an Administrator".  I am an Administrator but all the settings are still disabled.  What do I do now?
    Thanks,
    Mike

  • Equium A60-157: error caused by device driver

    Hi all,
I'm trying to write my PhD thesis at the moment and am being hampered by my laptop! It keeps randomly bringing up the blue screen of death and then restarting; when it's all loaded up, I get a 'serious error' message that says 'error caused by device driver'. As far as I know, all the programs I have are compatible... I was advised to restore factory settings, which I did a few months ago. And I've had the BIOS update suitable for my computer. But it's still happening!!
If it helps, the programs I use daily are Microsoft Word, Access and Powerpoint, Internet Explorer and MSN Messenger. I don't run any high spec games (only Minesweeper occasionally!)
What can I do? Does anyone else have this problem? Any advice would be much appreciated, as these crashes are not helping my work!
    Thanks...

    Hi guys,
I seem to have a similar problem. About a month ago I reinstalled windows using the product recovery cd and three days later I started getting a blue screen. But the error occurs only when shutting down (not always, I can`t see any pattern)- right before the shut down itself, windows has already logged off and settings are saved. The error code is 0x50 and the report says it is caused by an unknown device driver.
The day that stop error started I installed an educational software (Leankey's) for which I used a virtual cd. But at the initial launch the program "freezed" and I had to close it and open it again, there wasn`t a problem. After that I tried to copy some files on a blank cd (without using any burning software) and it said that the device was not accessible.
I tried disabling DMA but that didn`t help. In the event viewer I saw error messages that say the cdrom has a bad block. I`m not sure whether this has something to do with the stop error but they started at the same time. I can still burn cds with other software (nero). I tried to update the device driver but it didn`t help.
Maybe I have to uninstall the driver first but from the device manager when I check the properties of the device (driver details) it uninstalls the device and the driver remains. Should I delete the driver files manually? I have checked all device drivers and they are all compatible. All installed software is digitally signed. (I immediately removed the Learnkey`s software but I think it has changed some dll...
    I will appreciate any suggestions.
P.S. When I run the toshiba diagnostic tool it skips testing the cd/dvd but it doesn`t say why.

  • When the device tree node(dev_info_t) is built for a pseudo device?

    Hi Expert,
I am a new driver writer. I am writing a pseudo driver.
As my understanding, the a device node (dev_info_t) must exist before the attach routine is called.
    int attach(dev_info_t *dip, ddi_attach_cmd_t cmd);
For the hardware device, the node will be built when the system boots.
But when the node is built on the device tree for the pseudo device.
    Thanks,
    Eric

  • ATI high definition audio device driver

Same problem as aldwellangel (04-30-2014): failed attempt to install device driver.  The error message was preceded by a message box entitled "Installing device driver software" which said it was "Searching preconfigured driver folders ...".  Problem started some months ago for no apparent reason, but its only effect seems to be to delay startup.  At the same time a similar problem occurred with "IDT High Definition Audio Codec"; this was solved by installing the driver from the hp site.
I downloaded and installed the 64 bit driver in accordance with the posted Solution, but that made no difference. I then downloaded the 32 bit driver.  It would not install, the installation program reported "No driver was supported in this driver package".
I am running an hp Pavilion dv7 with Win7 up to date.

    Hey hgfr,
Try updating the chipset drivers. You can find these here: Intel Chipset Installation Utility and Driver.
Also, try reinstalling the GPU which controls the HDMI audio: AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver
If the pop-up is more of an annoyance it is possible to disable the popup from showing, but it's still going to search for new drivers each time you boot and will also hide other new hardware from showing up when connected. To do this:
    Press Windows Key + R.
    Type gpedit.msc and click OK.
Expand the Computer Configuration section on the left.
    Expand the Administrative Templates section.
    Expand the System section.
    Click on Device Installation.
On the right you should see a list of settings. Double click on Turn off "Found New Hardware" balloons during device installation.
Click Enabled in the upper left area. (Yes, enabled. Not disabled. You are enabling the turn off feature.)
    Click OK.
    Close the Group Policy Editor.
Let me know if updating the chipset or GPU helps or if disabling the popup is OK.
Please click the "Kudos, Thumbs Up" at the bottom of this post if you want to say "Thanks" for helping!
Please click "Accept as Solution" if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.

  • Ultranav device driver vs. Standby

    Hi,
everytime I try to switch in the standby mode an error appears:
"The device drive for the 'IBM ThinkPad UltraNav Pointing Device'
device is preventing the machine from entering standby. Please close
all applications and try again. If the problem persists, you may need
    to update this driver."
So I closed the applications and installed the latest version of the driver, but nothing changed.

Ok I fixed it. It was the fault of the PGPdisk driver.

  • Bluetooth peripheral device driver missing

Droid bionic connects to pc  win 7 64 bit  in bluetooth just fine, can play music through pc speakers, transfer files , use as a modem.  but in bluetooth devices it shows bionic with a yellow triangle. i right click on it and says trouble shoot . says unknown device, no driver installed. it did load several drivers when i first connected, but this one didnt for some reason. have been to windows update with no luck. bluetooth adapter on pc has latest driver. i have latest motorola usb drivers installed also on the pc.. I may have to contact tech support at motorola for this. also i will try reinstalling my adapter drivers. if anybody has any ideas, please let me know ty.

I tried several other solutions but none of them worked perfectly as the last one that I tried after vigorously searching online.
Here's what I did when bluetooth on Windows 7 PCs that I had:
    - Download the 'Windows Mobile Device Center' ( current version is 6.1 ) which you can download it from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...-download.mspx
this works for both Vista and Windows 7. I've tried it on both.
    - Install the downloaded software but it may not look like it worked on Windows 7 PCs. Vista automatically configures the settings on the bluetooth devices but for those who have Windows 7, here are the things you should do:
    - Go to 'Device Manager' from 'Control Panel' -Or- just right-click on Computer Icon and choose 'Properties' and then click on 'Device Manager'.
    - You'll see an 'Unknown Device' named 'Bluetooth Peripheral Device'
    - Right-Click it and click on "Update Driver Software" -Or- anyway you find it easy to bring up the Update driver window.
    - Click "Browse My Computer for Driver Software" button.
    - Click "Let Me Pick from a List of Device Drivers on my computer".
    - Select 'Bluetooth Radio' from the list if it asked you to select and then in the next window, it will show a list of drivers with Company Names in one list and Drivers in another. In the Company List choose 'Microsoft Corporation', not only Microsoft.
    - From the drivers list there may be one or more drivers with the name "Windows Mobile-Based Device Support" with different driver versions. Select one or the latest.
    - Ignore any warnings and keep pressing next and then Finish at last. If all goes well, the last screen will show the message that device driver is successfully installed.
Now, after manually updating the driver for your bluetooth device, in 'Device Manager' when you click on 'Bluetooth Radios', it should display one more item which will say 'Windows Mobile-based device support'.

  • Twist - Lenovo Device Driver Failure

    Twist 3347 running 8.1
Encountered this problem in device drivers after noticing my smartphone wouldnt connect... (mtp device driver not loading)
    HID Sensor Collection
    DDP UMDF Driver
    Lenovo Settings
    Lenovo Settings Camera Audio
    Lenovo Setting Power
Ive tried using the latest settings dependency package 2.2.0.26
Ive disabled, uninstalled, reinstalled, the drivers. Tried a system restore point. and no further details on the forums although this problem seems to pop up from time to time. It seems there is a conflict with the dependency package.
Ive tried reinstalling both Lenovo dependency package 1.6.25 AND lenovo setting dependency package 2.2.026 to no avail. I am trying to avoid a system refresh as I will have to install EVERYTHING. Sooo... help?

    Update 7-23-2014
I ran a system refresh. Before updating all windows files after refresh, made a note that HID Sensor Collection and Lenovo Settings, Lenovo Settings Power only showed up in Device Manager with issues.
Did a complete windows update and upgrade to 8.1 via the app store.
When going into the Lenovo Settings app it asked me to download the latest files (dependency.exe)
No change to device driver errors.
I went through Lenovo support pages and manually selected Lenovo Settings Dependency Package for Windows 8.1 (32-bit, 64-bit), n15sd27w.exe
Upon restart, HID Sensor Collection, DDP UMDF Driver, Lenovo Settings, Lenovo Settings Camera Audio, Lenovo Setting Power error reappeared in Device Manager.
It seems to me the system has some issue with the dependency packages installed. I have used:
    settingsdependency.exe
    settingsdependencytp.exe
    n15sd26w.exe
    n15sd27w.exe
    Please advise.

  • Invoking the device driver

    Hi
I have written a non-STREAMS character device driver for Solaris...It passes the 'modload', 'modinfo' and 'modunload' test successfully.....
Now, I have the xxopen(), xxclose(), xxattach(), xxdetach() entry points in my driver.. I am also using the ddi_create_minor_node() function in my xxattach() routine but I do not see any device node being created in /devices.
I am trying to write a sample application which will invoke open(2) and close(2) system calls... What is the path that I provide to the open(2) system call for oepning the file.. also, exactly when will the device node get created in the /devices directory.
also, how can my user-land application invoke the xxattach() routine of the driver ??
    Awaiting urgent replies..
    -Kaushik

Thanks a lot.... My driver is for a physical device, and hence is not a pseudo driver.
somebody told me that for a device driver meant for a real, physical device, I need to supply a set of PCI IDs the driver should bind to.... Can you tell me where to specify these PCI IDs and how do I get to know more about them ? (Basically, I want to know the process of creation of device nodes under /devices directory and symlinks in the /dev directory for 'real hardware' drivers and not pseudo drivers)
Also, upon copying my driver to /usr/kernel/drv and issuing 'add_drv' results in the following message
"Driver (vmci) successfully added to the system but failed to attach"
Running "dmesg | tail" tells me that only the init() routine was called when I issued "adddrv" command......
I then tried commenting the entire block of code inside xxattach() but it still gives me the same error upon issuing "add_drv".. Is it because I need a .conf file (containing the PCI IDs) before my driver is able to attach to the device ??

  • Bluetooth peripheral device driver not found-samsung fascinate

I have a samsung fascinate and a brand new dell inspiron laptop.  I cannot get these two together via bluetooth.  The laptop states the "bluetooth peripheral device driver not found."
Are there any solutions for this?
    Thanks!

Sure! Try this: First, make sure you have activated Bluetooth pairing on your Fascinate. You can do this by going to your home screen, select Menu > Settings > Wireless & Networks > Bluetooth. Once Bluetooth is on, have your Fascinate scan for your computer by going to Bluetooth settings > Scan for devices. You might be able to pair them that way, instead of trying to find the phone using your computer.
