Phone screen lost all primary colors!

My iphone 4 lost the normal colors and went to an all black background with white text and some yellow/tan colors just out of nowhere. I would describe it much like the colors in a negative picture. I went to my photos and they all looked just like negatives! I powered the phone off and then back on with the same problem there. I researched everywhere for a way that I could have possibly changed the format color for my phone by accident "somehow" and realized there is no way to do so, especially by accident! It was very odd! I was finally able to get it to go back to normal when I did a reset in the general settings, out of pure desperation because it was next to impossible to read anything on the phone. Has anyone seen/heard of this issue? What could have possibly gone wrong here? Not sure if this matters, but I was on an American flight at the time this occured. Thanks in advance for any input. I'm praying it does not happen again but would like to know the possible cause in case it does!

triple click the home button.. that should fix it then to turn of the white on black mode, go to settings - general - accessibility - white on black and turn it off then change your "triple-click home" to off as well

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

  • My husband and I both have iphones and share the same apple id. Everything was working fine until I synced his phone which lost all his contacts and pictures and gave him my info. I then used verizon's contact retreival app and got his contacts back

My husband and I both have iphones and everything was ok until I synced his phone and lost all his contacts and pixs. I downloaded verizon's contact retreival app and got his contacts back but now his contacts keep overwriting mine. I can sync my phone and get my contacts back but within a few hours, his show up again. We use the same apple id for purchases. What can I do?

Are you sharing the same iCloud account (in Settings>iCloud)?  And do you both have Contacts turned to On in Settings>iCloud?

While I have a few ideas, I think you'd have better luck troubleshooting this in the iCloud forum.

  • I had to reset my phone and lost all my ringtones, how do i get my ringtones back if I already bought them?

I had to reset my iPhone, and when I did I lost all my music and ringtones and all my apps. Well i was able to get my apps and the other music that I bought on iTunes back onto my phone but my ringtones are still missing. I don't want to go buy them again. How do I download them back to my phone? I have spend lots of money on ringtones on my phone. It happened before when I got a new phone and lost all of them. But I really want to know how to download and get them back.

  • My iPhone has recently been crashing (or rather the apps) when I would try to access my text messages, contacts, phonebook, facebook, or email. I tried restarting my phone and lost all of my contacts. Anyone know what's wrong/how to fix it

My iPhone has recently been crashing (or rather the apps) when I would try to access my text messages, contacts, phonebook, facebook, or email. I tried restarting my phone and lost all of my contacts. This has been happening more and more frequently. Today I was in my pictures and was trying to crop one and my phone shut off completely. Anyone know what's wrong with it or how to fix it?

Make sure all apps are fully closed:
    - double tap your home button
    - hold your finger on an app
    - when the apps start to wiggle press the red "-" button on all the apps
    Now do a hard reset:
    - hold the home button and the sleeps/wake button down at the same time
    - the phone will shut off then when the apple logo ppears release both buttons
If by then your contacts have not been restored you would need to try and retreive them from a back up on itunes/icloud that was made when the contacts were on the phone. You could even stream them from the cloud if they were synced to the cloud. The link beow will show you how to restore from an itunes/icloud back up:

Also to prevent this issue which i have seen alot when users are still running iOS 5 it would be best to update the iOS on your phone. To do this follow the link below:

    Hope this helps

    Hi, try this...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
    Reboot.

  • Loaded ios 6 onto my i phone and lost all data can it be retrieved

loaded ios6 onto my i phone and lost all data. not too worried about apps but lost contacts, all music downloaded onto i phone and photos, Is there any way it can be retrieved?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
You can only restore them from a backup. This has occurred because you are sharing an iCloud account. ideally you should each have your own iCloud account, that way you can each manage your own mail, contacts, calendars, documents etc and avoid unintentional deletions and unwanted editing. If there is information you wish to share between you, this can be done with a secondary account.
Having separate iCloud accounts, doesn't mean you have to have separate iTunes accounts, so whilst you keep your personal data separate, you can continue to share music, apps, books, TV shows, movies etc.

Her contacts would be wherever she put them
The iphone is designed to be synced to your computer or cloud service regularly.  If she failed to do this, then they are likely gone.

Does she normally sync to the MAC?  IF she does, she can restore her phone from a backup, if she has one.
If she doesn't normally sync to the MAC then she can sync back to her PC and then restore to her backup.

  • Wrong passcode RESET my phone and lost all data!!!

This morning my wife went to use my phone, she wanted to show my daughter some photos I took yesterday.  She wasnt aware that I changed my passcode recently (she knew my old one).  After attempting to enter my old passcode 3 times incorrectly, the phone shut down to the black + apple logo boot screen and came back into the factory reset state (the same state as when you buy the phone, with the welcome/setup flow).
I was baffled at how this could have happened, so I called Apple support.  The technitian I spoke with had no idea how that could hav happened and asked me to check for iCloud or iTunes backups.  Unfortunately I had not backed my phone up in the past 2 weeks of using my new 4S, and I didnt setup iCloud backup.  So there was no solution available from Apple, I had to start all over and lost all my data.
After looking into this more, I cannot figure out how this could have happened.  I did not set the Passcode setting to erase all data after 10 failed passcode attempts (plus my wife only tried 3 times).
I assume this is a big bug in the new OS (5) or some clever scam to get people to start using iCloud for backups.  Word to the wise, backup or use iCloud, and check your passcode settings for that erase feature.  If anyone has any clue how this could have happened I would love to hear.

I do, but it is from a few weeks ago when I backed up my old 3GS to restore my brand new 4S.  So I did restore to that backup but lost the past 3 weeks of photos, apps changes and more.  I just had a baby too, so I really screwed the pooch by not backing up or using iCloud.  I just cant imagine the data isnt still on the phone somehow, but maybe it did get wiped.
In any case, seems like a scary bug out there that others may hit, wanted to post this to help others.

  • I set my 3gs up as a new phone and lost all off my contacts is there a way of getting them back?

Well i was told by an apple guy at the store to restore my phone as a new one to remove al bugs. so i did and lost all of my contacts so i am trying to find out if i can find my contacts somewhere on my computer so i can re-enter them.

If you had previously configured to sync Contacts with outlook, google or yahoo contacts, you can do the same to recover your contacts.
    Otherwise two options:
Restore from backup. Right click your iPhone under 'Devices' on iTunes left Pane and select 'Restore from Backup'. Pick the old backup date and restore.  But then this will bring back your old issue you had on your iPhone.
The other option is to use a third party software to extract info from your backup folder.
iPhone Backup Extractor, you can download a free version with limited capability of a paid Registered version:
    http://www.iphonebackupextractor.com/
Here are locations of your backup folder.
    Win7 - C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\Mobile Sync\Backup
    Vista - C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Mobile Sync\Backup
    Winxp- C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Apple Computer\Mobile Sync\Backup

  • I accidentally backed up from my last phone and lost all my current information. can i get back my contacts or photos?

I got a new iphone a few months ago, and i just got around to putting music on it. I accidentally chose to back up from my last phone instead of continue as a new iphone and i lost all my information, and got all the stuff from my old phone. Is there anyway i can get the notes, photos, and contacts back? I didnt lose any apps, or ringtones, or anything like that.

I think what you're saying is you're hoping to retrieve information from your current iPhone before it got overridden with information from your last iPhone.
If you synch using iTunes, you can try this:  In iTunes, go to Preferences then choose Devices (from the top near the right).  You'll see dates and times of backups stored on your computer.  If the one you want is there, you can restore your iPhone from that.

  • I Phone has lost all sound

I have an I Phone 3G and all sound has been lost.
The touch keys, ringer, message alerts, etc. have all lost sound.
I have checked the settings and the button on the side.
Went to AT&T store, and they told me I would have to contact Apple.
Any suggestions on how to fix this?
    Thanks,
    Mat G.

    Have you tried a "restore"?

  • Upgraded phone and lost all apps and music

i upgraded via my pc to the 5.0 and now i have lost all of my apps and my extensive music library.  does anyone know how i can restore my info?

If you didn't encrypt your backup and it still requires a password it sounds like your backup is corrupted.
Aren't your apps and music still in itunes?  I don't understand why you can't just resync.
