Photoshop CS 5 start up issues

I just upgraded Lightroom 3 to Lightroom 4. After performing the upgrade, I went and opened Photoshop CS 5. I received the following error popup.
Could not initialize photoshop because the preferences file was invalid (it has been deleted)
I have no idea how this happened, or how to fix it. I would appreciate any help I can get.

But if you open CS5, then go File> Open and browse to a file, it opens correctly, right?
So you'll need advice from someone who knows Windows, which is not me!

Installation CS4 Master Collection (Trial): Photoshop doesn't start

After installing the following products from the CS4 Master Collections DVD (as 30 days trial versions):
- Acrobat 9
- InDesign
- Illustrator
- Photoshop
and everything (what is possible) else UNCHECKED I get the following error at the end of the installation:
"Finished, with Errors" and then the detail:
"Adobe Photoshop CS4 German Language Pack
Fehler:
Error 2."
The first 3 of the above programs starts in german and works fine. Only Photoshop will not start and show the following english error:
"Adobe Photoshop CS4
Some of the application components are missing from the Application directory, Please reinstall the application".
Unfortunately, there is no information about WHICH components are missing and WHERE is this "Application directory" where I could double-check this missing files.
Could anyone help me to find this missing components?
Is there a Logfile where I can check them?
Can I look for information about installation-errors?
(I know, we have a file called "Adobe Creative Suite 4 Master Collection 4.0 dd-mm-yyyy.log".)
But I need some help to find the missing components. Some lines that could describe the problem are this:

I have checked this "not found source filename" on my DVD#3 and found it with 8.35 KB (8'557 Bytes). I can open it and it contains readable code on 156 Lines starting with:

and ending with

Do you have any idea what could generate my problem if the file exist on the media, can be read but the installer tell me the exact opposite?
What could I try to solve this problem?
Do I have any chance to install the language pack separatly? (It seems, that Photoshop CS4 itself has been installed, at least a so called directory exists and many *.DLL and the photoshop.exe can be found)

Normalerweise solltest Du gar nicht in die Verlegenheit kommen eine südamerikanische Version in Deutschland zu installieren. Hast Du die Möglichkeit die DVDs alle zu mounten? Dann versuche das.
Ein anderer, aufwändigerer Weg ist der, dass Du die erste DVD mit allem drum und dran auf den Server kopierst, der Installer besteht aus einer vielzahl von Payloads. Dabei sind nach dem ersten Kopieren viele leer, von den nächsten DVDs kopierst Du die Payloads, nur die Inhalte in deren Ordner vom Installer der ersten DVD. Am Ende hast Du einen vollständigen Installer an einer einzigen Stelle, der bei Installationen von einem Netzlaufwerk Sinn macht und das zukünftige Installieren beschleunigt.

System Start up issue in my ABAP + JAVA system

HI,
when i try to start up my SAP (ABAP+JAVA) system, server processes fail to start. Below is the trace file.

Ich habe Adobe Photoshop 2.0 Starter Edition und habe mir meine fotos von der Festplatte in Photoshop Album geladen. Jetzt bekomme ich diese nicht auf Festplatte zurück. Kann diese auch nicht bearbeiten, mailen oder drucken.
Zusätzlich habe ich mit Adobe Photoshob Elements 4.0 installiert.
Dort sehe ich die Fotos nicht.

Sie bekommen die Bilder schon auf die Festplatte zurück, da beide Programme nur eigene Vorschaubilder und Datenbanken anlegen, die eigentlichen Bilder aber dort lassen, wo sie gespeichert sind.
Am einfachsten finden Sie die Bilder mit Start => Suchen und dann Klick auf Bilder, Musik oder Videos. Diese(n) nun gefundenen Ordner laden Sie dann in Album/PSE und können wie gewohnt verwalten/verbessern/versenden etc.

Photoshop does not start unless I reboot

I have been having this problem since yesterday. Photoshop does not start after I use the computer for a while. I opened Windows Task manager to see if any processes start at all, even though the application does not start. Two processes (1) AdobeIPCBroker and (2) Photoshop.exe process start, but photoshop application does not open , not does it show up in the applications. What may be going wrong?

Also, you realize everything you are installing and doing only remains in memory. Why are you installing all these packages? Are you going to repeat this installation and user creation at every reboot?
EDIT: something else is wrong too - but until you fix the above, it will be hard to know if it is a separate cause, or an indirect effect. /run/user/0 should not be relevant, but /run/user/1000 should be used. I suspect your method of starting X is logging out of the 'su'ed user and is dropping back to the root login that it is under. You'll likely need to change tty's to log in as your user - on a normal system you could log out of the root session and back in as your user - but on the iso I think autologin for root is set on tty1. Of course you could disable this too.

MAJOR Start-up Issues: Can my imac be saved?

Hello all-
I sure hope someone can help me. I am really worried about the state of my imac. It is only ONE YEAR old and has always been maintained with the latest updates.
Quick background: A few weeks ago, while in screensaver mode, I returned to my mac to find a white screen with a folder and a question mark. I had never seen this before! It was frozen. I had to force shut down by holding the button on back. Since that time, the same thing has sporadically happened when the computer was in screensaver mode. In the last few days the problem has worsened with start up issues. Yesterday, when i started up the computer I kept getting just a blank white screen and what sounded like "a slow revving" of the disc several times and then nothing. After continually trying to restart (including in Safe Mode) eventually I got the apple logo and it started. When that happened, I immediately backed up everything for fear my hard drive is dying and then began to troubleshoot.
What I've tried: After looking through the threads I have tried a number of suggestions.
- I repaired the Disk using First Aid (it says all was Okay)
- I repaired permissions
- I disconnected all cords & reset the SMC
- I booted from the disc & ran the Extended Apple Hardware Test (it said all appears Okay)
After doing these things last night, the computer started up several times just fine so I shut it down for the night.... which brings me to this morning!
Start up was MUCH worse than yesterday. Same slow revving sound, white screen and nothing (at least 10 times) - even when trying Safe Mode. Then it worsened to a black screen and no sound at all - as if nothing was happening. I thought it was dead! I unplugged the power cord for 15 seconds and tried again - this changed it back to the white screen and a sound of more revving power. After about 3 tries, I got the apple logo and the spinning wheel for about 2 minutes - then it started!
This is where I am now. I am afraid to turn it off and not sure what else to try. I thought after all I did last night, the problem was fixed. Why does the hardware test and repair disc say all is fine? And why after doing those things last night did it start up numerous times? (and speedy too!) But then this morning I'm back where i started.... ? How can I troubleshoot this problem further?
I would really like to try everything before resorting to taking it in. Money is tight right now.

New Development: From Disk Utility, I chose to run "verify disk" again. (Somewhere I had read that sometimes, it needs to be run a few times before it will find a problem with the disk).
Sure enough! This time I got errors and it suggested I repair the disk!
Errors in verify mode were in RED as follows:

The volume Macintosh HD needs to be repaired
Error: Filesystem verify or repair failed
I then restarted with the system disc, opened First Aid and chose Repair.
The following showed up in RED during the repair process:
Invalid index key
Incorrect number of thread records
Invalid directory item count
volume bit map needs minor repair
Invalid free block count
volume header needs minor repair
And finally in GREEN (after 10 min):
HD Repaired Successfully
** After doing this, and trying to restart, i get the white screen and the spinning wheel indefinitely. (even when i try Safe Mode) It appears I can no longer boot my HD. I wanted to share the errors above incase it brings anyone to any further insight, but I'm not so sure it helped my situation.
Suggestions?

My Photoshop 7 has started to corrupt documents I've worked on and I can't find out a way to stop it.

I have Photoshop 7 and have downloaded the Photoshop 7.01 download. I have a 64 bit computer and have been running and working with photoshop for about a year with no trouble. Now, It's started to corrupt files that I've manipulated in Photoshop. I start with a JPEG or PSD document and when I try to save it as a JPEG it corrupts it and I get a message indcating that when I try to open it. My objective is to insert the corrected file into a publisher document. I've been doing this same operation for quite a while but now it seems to be unworkable. I have Windows 7 home premium system.

You could also try resetting the photoshop 7 preferences.
Press and Hold the Shift+Alt+Ctrl keys just after starting the launch of photoshop 7
Keep holding the keys down until you get a dialog asking if you want to delete the photoshop settings file
Press Yes because you do.

Every since I updated to the latest Camera Raw and Photoshop I have the following issue: when I finish the photo in Raw and bring it into Photoshop I have white squares in the Photo. If I crop the photo the white square disappears until I zoom to enlarge

Does turning off »Use Graphics Processor« in the Performance Preferences and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?

Started having issues with camera raw. cannot access from bridge. Greyed out.

Started having issues with accessing camera raw from bridge. I have CS6 and LR5. Should I attempt to uninstall CS6 and reinstall. I have backup on external hard drive for my photos but will I need to reimport photos after uninstall? Some of the forums are suggesting that my program might be corrupt. Can anyone assist?

Having start-up issues with my 1st gen Macbook Pro

Hi everyone. I just started having start-up issues with my first generation Macbook Pro. It was working fine the other day when I last used it, but today I went to use it and it wont load up to my desktop...? It starts up (grey screen with the little swirly bar under the apple,) then it goes to a blue screen, then my background and dock appear, then (before any of my desktop files even show up,) it goes to a blue screen (that brightens up and then dims a little,) and it just keeps showing this with a little swirly progress symbol (shows when the screen is darker blue, then disappears when the screen is a brighter blue.) I've included a video that I took with my iPhone to show it situation. Any ideas as to what's wrong with it? Thanks in advance!

Safe Boot by restarting your computer while holding down the "shift" key. Safe booting disables all nonessential processes, often times allowing you to start up when you would otherwise crash.
As of OS X 10.5.6 Safe Boot deletes the dynamic loader shared cache location in the /var/db/dyld directory. A corrupt cache here can cause the blue screen crash. Once you restart normally, the cache will be recreated. This should take care of the issue.

Use Software Update to update your os to 10.6.8 and anything else that needs to be updated.

Indesign won't install past 42% then says it failed. I downloaded photoshop and illustrator with no issues.

Ive tried to download Indesign but it won't go past 42% on the download bar and then it says it failed. no information to why.

Dededededede I would recommend reviewing your installation log files to determine if the installation or download has failed. If the installation has failed then there will be a specific error within the log which will determine why there was a failure. Start up Issues with Mountain Lion?

Having start up issues with Mountain Lion. Gray Screen and nothing happens.

If you can't boot in the usual way, try a safe boot. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
During startup, you’ll see a progress bar, and then the login screen, which appears even if you normally log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Safe mode is slower than normal, and some things won’t work at all. Note: If FileVault is enabled under OS X 10.7 or later, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is on a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. If you're able to boot, launch the Console application in any of the following ways: ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search.
