Photosmart 2610 yellow color not printing

My Photosmart 2610 is being a pig.  It refuses to print yellow.  I have gone through multiple clean and prime routines and switched the cartridge to a brand new one but nothing elicits the slightest dribble of yellow.  Any help would be appreciated - thanks.
This question was solved.
View Solution.

I would suggest gently blotting the printhead on a damp tissue.  A working cartridge will have a strong blot of cyan, magenta and yellow.  I suspect your cartridge will show only cyan and magenta.
In this case there are a few things to check.  Are the cartridges original HP or reman/refilled?  The latter have generally poor quality, see the study here.   The other possibility is the cartridges are original HP but out of date.  There is not any "expiration" on these cartridges that would cause them to not print correctly after a certain date, but very old cartridges may have failures in one or more colors.  Check the end of warranty date (two years from the date of manufacture) as shown in the document here.  This date is also generally printed on the back side lower right of the package.  If the cartridges are very old and long beyond the end of warranty date this is the likely cause.
As a temporary measure it may help to soak the cartridge in about 1" of very hot water for about ten minutes with the nozzle plate down.  Remove the cartridge and gently dry the electrical contacts with a lint free tissue and try printing.

  • HP Photosmart 2610 All in One Printer Paper feeds OK but the software and sensors are a problem

HP Photosmart 2610 All in One Printer   Paper feeds OK but the software and sensors are not allowing paper to feed until several steps are taken first.
(I am using Windows 7.  I also use the virtual XP mode and mostly MS Office 2003 docs).
I have had this printer for several years and love it.  Before I toss it out, I thought I would check if I could get it to work properly before I buy another printer.  Note: I did put in a new HP black cartridge (because it was out of ink) but the printer was not working properly for several days before I changed the cartridge. The printer was at step 5 before ink change.
Lately, each time I turn on my printer, I have to go through the same routine
    1. The printer wants to align the cartridges so I push OK
    2. The paper feeds into the printer and stops at the exact place to start printing.
    3. Error message appears that it is out of paper.  So I press OK to continue.
    4. It says "aligning print cartridges" runs through 2 sheets of blank paper without trying to do anything and then states "cartridge alignment failed"  "Press OK to continue"
    5. Screen is now normal and it appears it is going to work.
    6. It makes no difference if I used the copy function OR when I send a print job from the computer, the paper feeds into the printer and stops at the exact place to start printing but nothing happens.
    7. Error message appears that it is out of paper. OR that it is the wrong size paper.  I pull the paper that was at the proper place to be printed from the printer and then the error message says "Paper jam.  Press OK to continue"
    8.  I press OK.  The printer will then quickly feed in and eject 2 sheets of paper before it will actually start printing the print job.  It will work fine after this as long as I print from the same document.
    9. If I want to print a different document then I have to start all over again at step 6 to get the printer to work.  If I shut the printer off I have to go back to step 1.
    What I have already tried
    A.  Uninstalled and reinstalled the printer driver direct from HP web site.  I have done this several times with both the basic driver download and the complete package download.
    B.  I have done a partial reset by unplugging the printer, and then re-plugging the printer while pushing the  "# and 3" buttons while turning on the printer.  I have done this several times.  Each time it will work fine until I try a different document of turn off the printer.
    C. I have downloaded the HP Print and Scan Doctor and used it several times.  It states that "everything checks out OK"
    D. I have downloaded the HP Hardware Diagnostic Utility 4.0 but it does not work with my printer.
    E.  I have cleaned all the rollers and blown air throughout to make sure there were no bits of junk in the paper's path or blocking a sensor.
    F.  I have tried different brands and weights of paper (all 8½  x 11) but nothing works.
Most of the problems started when I added the printer to the virtual machine so I could print XP files.  This may just be a coincidence because the printer has the same problems when I use the copy function without the computer being on.
Thanks for looking at my issues.  Any help would certainly be appreciated.

I just tried using Notepad as you suggested and had the same result.  Paper feeds in stops at proper place and error message "out of paper"
I just put in two new HP ink cartridges because the other two were low and I was told that this might be the problem.
I seem to remember that the HP 2610 shows 2 "ink icons" in the lower left corner.  One for black and one for color.  The ink icons would change from completly full to just an outline as the amount of ink went down.  Currently the black ink icon is missing
This is a very frustrating problem because the printer works great after doing a few steps to get around the problem.  The fact that the problem reoccurs any time anything is changed is the major problem
Most of the problems started when I added the printer to the Windows 7 virtual machine so I could work with Windows XP programs.  This may just be a coincidence because the printer still has the same problems when I use the copy function without the computer even being on.
I want to thank you for all of your efforts.  Perhaps this is a unique problem that will never be solved and it is best to take my losses and buy a new printer.  As a last chance, if possible, could you refer my post to someone who is an expert with the HP 2610 printer.

  • Cyan and yellow are not printing on HP officejet pro 8500 all-in-one printer A909

I have an Officejet Pro All-in-One 8500 A909a printer, using OS X operating system.  Cyan and yellow are not printing. I've ran the Print Quality Diagnostics Page and they do not show up there or on the align page. My ink levels are good.
Can you help me find and fix the problem?
    Thanks

    Hi DavidM2,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having issues with the Cyan and the Yellow ink cartridges as well.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
If you are still having issues then try to replace the cartridges.
Let me know how you make out and if you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

  • Colors not printing correctly. Only blue and black work.

I just got a new HP OfficeJet all in one inkjet 8620 printer. The colors aren't printing correctly. Everything comes out light blue with black lettering. I tried installing new cartridges (genuine HP) and also tried gently shaking the cartridges. But the problem persists.

    Hi @Iolanthe ,
I see that you are experiencing issues with the colors not printing correctly. I would like to help you resolve this issue.
I have provided a document with some steps to try to see if that will resolve the issue.
Fixing Print Quality Problems for the HP Officejet Pro 8610, 8620, 8630, 8640, and 8660 e-All-in-One...
Please let me know the results of the Print Quality Diagnostic Page?
If the test pages are printing properly, it could be a software issue.
What operating system are you using? Mac OS X: How Do I Find Which Mac OS X Version Is on My Computer?
Check the driver name that is installed for the printer. Make sure it shows just the printer's name.
Click the Apple menu and then click System Preferences. Click Printers & Scanners, highlight the printer name on the left side and on the right side of the screen it should show the printer's name. (Officejet 8620)
If the full printer name isn't listed correctly, delete it and add the printer name back in from the list. Click the - sign to delete the driver and then click the + sign to add the driver, might have to click the drop down to select the printer's name to add it in.
Let me know how the printer name was listed.
From the application, make sure you are selecting the proper paper type.
Try another application to see if you have the same issue.
How is the printer connected? (USB/Ethernet/Wireless)
If you need further assistance, just let me know.
    Have a great day!
    Thank You.

  • HP Photosmart c4780 refusing to NOT print in color.

    Hey guys, first time poster.
I generally consider myself to be tech savvy, but I have run into a bit of a problem. I am trying to fix my girlfriend's parent's printer, and it is giving me the most peculiar issue.
It is an HP Photosmart C4780, wireless, all-in-one, so on and so forth.
You see, when I try to print - anything - it comes out in color, regardless of if I select Black & White. The only issue is though, when I look it up online to try and find the issue, no one seems to have it. Most people have difficulty with their printers not printing black, but this one is printing black fine. It just also seems to print in color. I ran a cartridge clean through the settings, and it printed up a bunch of black letters, and then a bunch of colored boxes, yet when I try to print from both Firefox and Chrome, the images come out colored.
I thought, just to make sure, to try printing with "black," and "color" and both pages come out in color.
I have removed both cartridges and re-placed them, and still no change. I have tried updating the software on the computer, and still, to no avail. I've run an alignment check, I've printed a Printer Status Report, and still nothing.
Anyone know what the issue might be? Both cartridges are brand new (well... all this experimenting has probably done a little bit of damage, haha.) and show full levels on the estimation check. Please help! :]

    Hi @NovemberRain17,
Welcome to the HP Forums, and thanks for reaching out! I am happy to help.
You are right, this is kinda peculiar!  have you tried selecting grayscale, black ink only?
In your software application, click Print.
Select your printer from the list of available printers.
Click the option that opens the Printer Properties dialog box. Depending on your software application, this option might be called Printer Properties, Options, Printer Setup, Printer, or Preferences.
Click the Features tab or Color tab, click the Grayscale drop-down menu, and then click Black Ink Only.
Click OK, and then click Print to start the print job.
Please let me know if this does the trick or not. Please use the thumbs up below if you are pleased with my efforts If the issue persists, I will gladly do all I can to assist you!

  • D7460 Several Colors not Printing

On Photosmart D7460 printer, Light Magenta and Magenta colors stopped printing, not sure how long ago as I usually print black.  Checked the levels, they were fine, both above 70%.  Cleaned the printheads, self tested again, still no magentas.  To be clear, on the Self Test Diagnostic Page, I get the black, yellow, light cyan and cyan blocks fine, but whitespace where magentas should be.  Figured they might be clogged so I replaced those 2 cartridges.  No change in behavior upon a self test page, other 4 colors are fine, both magentas do not print.  Cleaned the printheads again, still neither magenta shows up.  The printer still prints, but anything in color looks like crap.
This is annoying and throwing money at it (new cartriges) didn't work so now I'm annoyed and angry being out the $50 or $60 I paid for a new set of cartridges.  Any ideas?   Has anyone encountered and corrected this problem?
    Thanks,
    Dan L.

I also have a photosmart d7460 printer. It has worked flawless for several years now. My problem started when I replaced the yellow and light cyan colors with refills. Now the printer always has a green tint in all of the photos. When I do the self test, it says all of the cartdriges have ink, but the self test is missing the light magneta, and the magneta colors on it. All photos have a slight green color added in some areas of the print. I have cleaned and aligned the printhead many times and get the same result. I also replaced the two cartdriges that the self test is missing and get the same result. Anyone else having this problem??? Doesn't make any sense-HP absoletely no help-PITIFUL!!!!

  • All colors not printing

The magenta ink is not printing. The light and dark blue, the yellow, the light pink and the black ink are being utilized in printing. I am not getting he colors to mix red. When I align the colors/printer, all show up except the magenta. I just installed a new HP Magenta Cartridge. What is causing this problem?

There should be a utility in your printer's setup menu to clean the cartridges, run it at different levels and take a look at the difference. If print quality does not improve, contact HP.
I just hope my replies will help you solve your problems!

  • HP Photosmart 6520 - Black ink not printing after being replaced

I have searched this forum and tried all suggestions to no avail. I live in Maine, USA. My printer will not print black, only colors. I bought new cartidges that gave the same result. I have had this printer for maybe 2 years and it is barely used. I am getting an error message 0xc19a0020. I have also followed resetting the printer instructions with no luck. I am appalled that HP sell such a horrible product with ZERO support on the support forum. I will not be buying another HP product!!!!

The post here has links to a troubleshooting document for the Photosmart 6520.  If the steps there do not resolve the issue please call HP Support, even if the printer is not longer under warranty.  In the US or Canada call 1-800-HPINVENt, elsewhere see the document here for contact information.  If the above does not result in satisfaction please post back here.

  • Pls. help w/ weird CS4 ID color (not) printing problem

Just recently moved up from CS2 to CS4, on a Mac running OS 10.5.8 and have run into a weird problem printing to a Konica Minolta BizHub color laser printer. It first happened when the solid light blue background on an old file converted from CS2 wouldn't print. Colors applied to text in the document printed fine, as did color in a placed .eps logo. In troubleshooting here's what what I've found: I can create a brand new document, create simple rectangles filled with solid cyan, solid yellow, solid magenta and black, and only the black will print. However, color filled POLYGONS do print in color just fine--it's only filled rectangles don't print. Here's what I've already tried to fix it: I exported the file back down the chain and printed it from ID CS2 from another Mac and it printed just fine (so it's not the printer); I can print colors just fine from Illustrator CS4 on the Mac where I have the problem (so it's not the BizHub driver); I've restarted the Mac and ID several times, AND I manually trashed the ID preferences (both the Defaults and Saved Data files). No luck. Any ideas?
More info: continuing my experiments I found that converting a non-printing rectangle through the "convert shape" dialog into a round-corner rectangle allow it to print. A polygon that prints fine, no longer prints if it's converted to a rectangle through the "convert shape" dialog. So the problem is strictly related to square-cornered rectangles.

InDesign CS4 Blends and ƒx junk didn't work with our BizHub until after applying the new RIP/Driver/Firmware cocktail.
Are you running V1 or V2 Creo RIP software? If you still have a support contract you can contact Danka (now Konica Minolta digital imaging) and see about getting the new software loaded. Should be running V2.0SP1. V1 has some major kinks with CS4 ƒx, especially nasty with the gradient feather.
I've got a BizHub here if you want me to see if it works on ours too.

  • Print Alignment Failed and Cyan color not printing on Officejet 8500 Primier

The Alignment Fails and the Cyan color is not printing. The Cyan cartridge was low and was failing to add the blue color.  Even though it was not empty, I replaced it.  After doing so it went through the alignment process and I received an error message "Alignment Failed"  I proceeded to take the following troubleshooting steps: 1.  Cleaned printhead & Alignment through the printer tools2.  Reinserted the Cyan ink cartridge, cleaned & aligned printhead3. Turned the printer off, unplugged the power cord from the back of the printer for one minute and then plugged back in.  I then went through the alignment again. None of these troubleshooting techniques worked.  The only thing I have not done, is replace the printhead.  They are so expensive and I'm worried that this may not be the issue.

  • Magenta color not printing

I have a Photosmart C7280 All in one printer.   Both my light magenta and magenta colors weren't working.  I've alinged and cleaned many, many times.  The light magenta finally started working, but not the magenta.  The ink guage says they are at 87 %.  They are HP cartridges and the expiration dates are in 2016.   Also the printer is out of warrantee.  Any suggestions?

    Hello,
Please perform the below mentioned steps that should resolve the issue.
Load plain white paper in the input tray.
Press Setup, press the Down Arrow (), press Tools, and then press OK.
Press the Down Arrow () to select Clean Printhead, and then press OK. A test page prints.

  • One color not printing

I have a Deskjet 841C and one color stopped printing. I replaced the color ink cartridge and the color still does not print.

Which color?  If cyan or yellow this is typically caused by a very old cartridge, well beyond its shelf life.  If the cartridge is an original HP check the end of warranty date as shown in the document here  You can verify the issue is the cartridge by gently blotting the printhead against a damp tissue.  A good cartridge will have a strong blot of cyan, magenta and yellow.  Yours will likely be missing the missing color.

  • HP Photosmart premium C309g-m not printing AGAIN

HP Photosmart premium C309g-m printer is not printing.  I use Vista.  This product will print when it wants to.  But every time I need to print from Quickbooks for a deadline, it refuses to print anything at all.  But if I have no deadlines, no problem!  I can print anything from anywhere anytime I want.  But the minute I need to send out an invoice from Quickbooks, like today, I'm screwed.
    I have:
tried to print.  message is Error Printing.  No reference number, nada, zippo!
restart printer.  reprint document.  same as above.
reboot laptop & printer.  reprint document.  (This usually fixes the problem) but sorry, same as above this time.
tried to refresh printer from control panel.  Nada.
tried to restart printer from printer list.  Screw you it yells back at me.
I try to use the Tech Help line for HP and they tell me.  "We can get it working.  But we charge $99."  And I say "Screw you, I don't have any money left."
My deadline is in two minutes, and the invoices are not done.  I have to go into a 2 hour appointment.  But I'll be back.  So maybe some kind hearted soul will send a message back on how I can fix this problem.  It is frequent and irritating as hell.

is anyone able to help with this WON'T PRINT problem???????
