Photosmart Prem-Web C309n-s. No warning for low ink levels.

Printer runs out of ink with no warning, and there is no way to verify the ink levels to monitor remaining level.  :-(

The ink levels can be checked from the printer front panel or computer as described here.
If the cartridges appear to run out of ink prematurely check the vents as descried in step 3, solution 6 here.

I cannot get this printer to actually print in Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.0 .  I choose the printer and then the HP Fax screen comes up.  Adobe says it is not their issue it is an HP issue but HP has not been able to give me any suggestions.
Any help is appreciated... it is such a pain.  I have to save documents as jpgs to print them in another program..HELP

    I have Photoshop Element 8, Window 7, HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909g.
Have the same problem with PSEl8, shows fax and printer; printer is chosen, but comes up fax. How/where do I change the name of the fax to see if that will work for me.
I've sent in a case to Adobe on this. No reply as yet.
I installed latest HP from website but didn't get all features. But photoshop worked then because it only had printer listed, not fax. I uninstalled HP. Had to install latest full feature software/device from HP. And got the same problem all over again because PSEl8 showed both fax and printer.
Looks like a fax problem between HP and Photoshop interface. Hope just changing the name of the fax will do for me as well. But we shall see.
I assume PS El 8 works with 64bit. Can't find where that info is mentioned in system info. Maybe that's a problem too between HP and Photoshop. HP now works with 64bit since I installed latest software/devices. Dell Tech support told me to check all software programs to make sure they work with 64bit. Don't know where to look with PSEl8 besides system info, which shows video card driver with 64bit; but plugplug.dll shows plugplug standard dll as 32 bit.
This is a big mess that Adobe and HP better figure out.

  • Photosmart Prem-Web C309n-s - How do I reattach parts in tray housing?

In trying to fix a printer problem, I removed the main paper tray.  When I tried to reseat it, a plastic guide (~2" long) and a related metal torsion clip/spring (~2" long) became unattached from the opening into which the main paper tray is inserted.  How do I reinstall these parts (can't find a diagram of how they fit together in side of the tray housing)?

I need help too!....This part just came off. How important is this part in relation to the pick up rollers? I am having a problem with these rollers not picking up and message code 0x61011beb is on display.
    Help, someone.....please.

  • Wireless Printing Problems - HP Photosmart Premium Web C309n

I hoping someone can help me with some printing issues I am currently having with my C309n.
When trying to print via my web browser (Firefox 3.5.7), the printer stalls while trying to respond, and when it does begin to print, it moves incredibly slow. I had the same problem when I first set up the machine when trying to print photos, but that issue seems to have resolved itself (I did nothing in particular; one day it just worked). I have no problem printing from programs such as Word, PowerPoint, etc.
The web printing issue still remains and I was hoping that someone could confirm that I have used the optimal wireless/set up settings before I start changing things in an attempt to solve my current problem. Also, of course, if anyone is aware of a quick fix for my printing issue, I would appreciate it.
Printer: HP Photosmart Premium Web - C309n
Computer OS: Windows 7 x64 Professional
    Anti-Virus: Norton 360 Premier
    Connection: Wireless
    Type: Automatic DHCP
    Port: 9100
Router: Linksys Wireless-N Gigabit Router (WRT310N)
    Firmware: v1.001
Settings of Router are as follows:
    - Network Mode: Mixed (a, b, g, n)
    - Security: WPA2 Personal
    - Encryption: AES
    - Radio Band/Wide Channel/Standard Channel: Auto
Also, I apologize if I provided too much info; just wanted to make sure I covered everything. Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm also having slow print issues on the HP Photosmart Prem-Web C309n-s.
The issue happens in multiple applications, such as printing a photo from HP Photosmart Essentials 3.5, printing an email from Internet Explorer 8, etc.  I am running Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit with Service Pack 2.
Also, noteable is that it happens on 2 PCs.  Same model purchased at the same time.  The issue seems intermittant and it seems to affect my wife's PC more than mine.  It may just be that she prints more???
I did not think it was a networking issue, but both my PC and printer are wireless.  I will direct my PC and see if the issue goes away.
My wife prints all her own photos and scrapbooks.  She is extremely frustrated and wants it out of the house.  I'm going to contact HP Support tonight.  If they cannot fix it in a reasonable time, I'm going to try and return it.
It also seems to rip through XL ink cartridges faster than any HP printer we have had.
    Best regards.

  • Low Ink level warning on new inks.

I own a Photosmart c309a and I am about ready to throw the thing out of the window.
I purchased all 5 inks required today, printed 1 test photo (6x4), 2 personal photos (6x4) and about 7 test pages as I have not used the printer for a couple of months and had to clean the printer head 7 times.
The problem I am now faced with is low ink levels. The Cyan, Magenta and Yellow inks are nearly empty, the Black is just over half full and the photo black is about a quarter full.
Remember, these official HP cartridges are brand new and purchased TODAY!
As my warranty expired with Comet about 2 months ago and HP is of no help at all as the automatic HP warranty check is a dead end, I am at a loss as to what t o do next, other than dumping the whole lot in the bin and buying a new (non HP) printer. Can anyone help?

    Hi @Mondo1, I'd be happy to help1
You can try changing the settings in the Printer Server Properties.
Click to highlight your printer, click Printer Server Properties, then click Advanced tab and check both "Show informational notifications..." boxes.  Click Apply and then click OK.
As you can see, this screenshot is not specific to your printer. you will need to look for your 6600.

  • HP Photosmart 7510 - Can no longer find option for checking ink cartridge levels

I have been using my HP Photosmart 7510 for about 3 years on my Windows 7 computer. In the past when I clicked on the printer icon it would bring up a window which allowed me to select what I wanted to do with the printer.  Scan, check properties, shop for supplies, and check ink cartridge levels, etc.  I still get a window but have lost some of the options. Unfortunately I do not remember what all my choices were previously, but the attached image shows the choices I am getting now.
There were at least two other choices that included things like scanning, checking ink levels, shopping.  I have no idea what happened to make me lose these options.
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
Please try start the printer BEFORE the computer. The menu has small change now, ink levels are always on, at the top. You may want to update its software (Oct 2012) using the following package:
        http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL39677/mp-108855-3/PS7510_1315.exe

  • Officejet 8600 Plus e N911g - Workaround for Toolbox Ink Level display

This is with a hard wired Ethernet hookup. I bypassed the router so as to eliminate any problem passing signal thru. It worked with and without the router.
Until HP comes up with a fix for the two way communication problem that everybody is having, I stumbled on a way to workaround this.
    1. Turn printer OFF
2.Start HP Officejet 8600 program from desktop icon or from HP folder in Programs.
3.Select "Estimated Ink Levels" from Shopping Resources.
    4. Toolbox (Network) should appear. (The computer is unable to establish two-way communication with the device.)
    5.Turn printer ON
    6. Select "Estimated Ink Level " tab. Ink levels should appear. If not, then select "Refresh" once or more times.
All other tabs should  also be available. This will only work one time. You will have to turn printer OFF again and start procedure over.
This worked on Windows 7 x64 and Windows XP 32bit both on the same network with a Linksys DIR-655 router.

    Hello,
If you are referring to the printer display in your below description "Then abt 6-weeks ago the display option for Scanning and Display Ink Levels just disappeared,", then i guess you may have to do the follwoing....
1> While the printer is ON, unplug all the cords from back of the printer.
2> Wait for full 60 seconds.
3> plug in the power cord directly into a wall outlet ( bypass the surge / power strip ) and then into the printer.
4> If the printer is not powering on, press the ON button once to do so.
5> If the display issue still exists, then try tilting the display.
6> If issue still persists, then call HP Tech Support for further assistance.
If you are in US , the toll free # is 1-800-474-6836 .

  • C309n-s Photosmart Prem Web

I have had this printer for about 2 years, no real problems.  Suddenly today every time we go to use it, the machine sounds like it's going to print, but then gives me an error message stating there is no paper in the tray.  There is.  There are no jams, and I have tried installing various amounts of paper.  I have removed all parts of the paper tray that can be removed, but when reassembled it still doesn't work.  Any suggestions?

Thanks very much for the solution feedback… We already followed all the HP Support Instructions and in all the forums too and none worked. We are still unable to print black (and now photo black too after installing replacement printhead assembly from an Amazon.com vendor who happens to be a HP reseller). Still same problem “alignment failed” message. We did lots of uninstalling and reinstalling the C309N drivers, realigning and cleaning and resetting to factory defaults and we almost depleted 2 sets of HP Genuine 564 colors, black, and photo black that we purchased from Staples.
Prior to buying this printer assembly part from an Amazon vendor who also happens to be a HP reseller, we already spent 72 clock hours for troubleshooting plus 1 set of inks and after we receive the order of printhead assembly, we spent 16 hours of troubleshooting time.
We believe the problem can be any of the following: the part that supports the printhead assembly (looks like the HP Reseller only gave us the printhead that holds the cartridges but not the one that holds the printhead assembly); or HP shutdown our C309n-s printer (you never know they have secret technology to shutdown your printer after 3 years using their forced product detection technology); or their chips inside the printer went bad.
We are out of extended warranty. Staples does not offer any warranty over than 2 years and we purchased from them the warranty. So we are toast. Hate HP now! Moreover, lost our faith in HP products too! We may not consider buying any extended warranty from Staples because they only run for maximum of 2 years which by the way is also expensive for just a 2 year plan max.
Called HP and the best they can do is replace the printer and charge us 15% discounted of the new Photosmart Touchweb model plus we have to buy their expensive warranty too. Our small company refused this offer from HP. We only want to pay $50 max for the new Photosmart Touchweb plus 4 years of free warranty. You cannot blame us because we already spent $399 on this printer last November 2009. In addition, the countless hours of troubleshooting and wasted inks.
***HP we want at least $200 credit or refund on the price of the original price of the C309N printer plus 2 years of free warranty so we can purchase from you a reliable all in one printer. This is our last offer of resolution.

  • Problem with touch screen on wireless Prem Web C309n

After the last automatic update was done the touch screen will no longer iniaialize - it just shows the hp logo and the on/off switch just continuously flashes.  I am not able to use any of the other functions like copying, scanning and faxing since the touch screen is not working.

Had not used my c309n for several years as I found  its operation  to be unreliable.  Decided  to try to make it operational once again.  Finally, was able to install the software and drivers.  The main problem is  with the touch screen.  At first, and still,  it mainly does not go beyond initializing.  However, at times the touch  screen is populated  but  will not function.  Then a parituclar item will highlight but not work.  Even when the screen items are present  nothing works well enough to  make any settings.  Prior to this I had one of your printers for scanning slides.  It was so defective that HP replaced it with the C309n which hasn't proved much better.  I also have an HP Photosmart 8750 which thankfully works just fine. • No audible warning for Low Battery?

I was talking with a friend for an hour when the phone died mid-sentence. I keep my phone in a case on my belt, so visual warnings are useless. Shouldn't there be an audible low-battery warning?

A message will pop up on screen when the battery reaches 20% and, then again, I think, at 10% and then just before it shuts down. I don't recall if there is an accompanying tone.

  • Low battery warning for  low signal?

Every once and while I get the screen showing the battery at red and asking to plug the Iphone in. When I looked at the battery life it's still had more than 30%, but my signal was on like 1 bar, could this be a reason why the Iphone might show a low battery warning?

I've seen this before, and believe it's a Bug:

  • Low ink warning for color cartridges, but I have not done any color printing in HP6700

I have an Officejet 6700 All-in-One.  I moved about a year ago.  When I installed the printer I got a warning that the color cartridges where low.  I replaced the color cartridges.  I have gotten the same warning of Low ink in color cartridges, but I have not done any color printing.  During the year I have printed no more than 10 test pages that have color, but no other color printing.  I leave the printer on all the time.  Could this be why the color ink warning appears?

    Hi,
Each time you turn on the printer, it uses color inks even you don't use color inks to print. It needs and uses color inks during warming up process.

I'd like to help as best I can with your Photosmart D5460
Where is it you're checking the ink levels?
What operating system is on your computer?
Are you still able to print or is it giving an error related to the ink?
Once I have this information I can look further into things for you!
