Pink screen during log in

I just had an upgrade to my operating system that came to me from the App Store.  After downloading it, my imac 27 now has a pink screen come up while signing in.  It only is a flash of pink and last a sec or less.  However it isn't something that has happened in the past, and I wonder if others have seen this or had it happen to them?

Some  of the display settings are stored in PRAM.

  • Audio lag from Canon XHA1 speaker during log and capture

    Hey All,
I'm working with a Canon XHA1. I'm logging and capturing video shot in HDV (1920 by 1080) @ 60i, . I can see the video on screen but the audio playing back from the camera is about half a second behind what I'm seeing on screen.
My video monitor on the camera sincs up fine with the audio during this process AND my final capture is fine. It's just hard to work with this audio delay during the log and capture.
Is this a settings issue? I don't think I can monitor sound through the computer during log and capture, right?
    Here are my settings:
    Sequence preset:
    HDV - 1080i60
    Capture preset: HDV
    Device control preset:

  • I5 17''MBP  gets blue screen during install windows 7 32 bit

    Hello all:
I heard that quite many people get classic windows' "blue screen" during using windows , whatever Windows XP, Vista or 7. But now i face the "blue screen" during install Windows 7, which means I even can not complete installation.
I bought my Macbook Pro i5 17'' one month ago, and I'm trying to install Windows 7 but I face the problem during the installation. After finishing first 4 steps the computer would restart and start to "finish installation", but at this time it gets "blue screen" and shows "error: 0x0000009c" and stuck there. I have to shut down the turn off button and interrupt the installation.
I don't know if there's any one else face this unlucky situation. I searched on the net and it says the problem could be from memory, graphic card (too new), or even overlocking the cpu, whatever it must be the problem of hardware. I thought it might be the problem of compatible.
If anyone knows how to deal with this problem??!! I do need to use some software under Windows system!

It is good to see that it is indeed a USB2.
The support software on the USB is used in the Pre-boot environment setup and provides drivers for Apple specific hardware, GPU, BT, Mouse, etc. You can verify that by looking at the USB contents. The DVD contains generic drivers when hardware is not recognized as defaults to use. Apple does enough 'secret sauce' to make them different. The following does not explicitly state the USB2 need when using the DVD Installer and mentions W8 (not W7).
From Boot Camp: Creating an ISO image from a Windows installation DVD - Apple Support
Insert a blank USB 2 flash drive that is a least 16GB in size into a USB port on the computer. Boot Camp Assistant uses this drive to store the Windows 8 install media and support drivers during installation of Windows.
Note: This flash drive needs to be formatted for the FAT32 file system and must use the Master Boot Record partitioning scheme. Use Disk Utility to check the format of the flash drive before proceeding, and partition or erase the flash drive if necessary.
I suspect the GPU is not getting the correct driver and the Installer fails. The Generic VGA should work. From the OS X side, can you see files in your BC volume? If yes, can you look for logs in the BC volume at the following locations.
    ./Windows/Inf/setupapi.dev.log
    ./Windows/Inf/setupapi.offline.log
    ./Windows/Inf/setupapi.setup.log
    ./Windows/Logs/SetupCleanupTask/setupact.log

  • Black screen during startup

I get a black screen during sturtup of my MacBook Pro (April 2011): the backlight are on, but the grey screen with the apple doesn't appear.
Then, after a few, the login screen appear, and after I log in I can use my MBP normally.
I tried resetting the SMC, but nothing changes. I thought to reinstall OSX (I have 10.6), but I realized that I can't if the screen is black.
I've also tried the Apple Hardware test, but I don't see anything.
    Any idea or suggestions?

Apparently I solved by resetting the PRAM.

  • ATI HD 6850 / "Pink Screen" / nomodeset

    Hello,
since upgrading one of my archboxes in mid-december (AFAIR) including Kernel and ATI-xorg-drivers, i have a big Problem.
    My System:
    AMD Phenom II X4 920
    AMD Radeon HD 6850
21" Samsung CRT "Sync Master 1100p plus" using an KVM-Switch*
    NVIDIA Chipset
Archlinux 64bit with systemd / grub2 installed around summer (afair)
Windows 8 on a second HDD works fine, even with games Like Diablo3 or BF3
My other archlinux box, (32bit, onboard ATI card) sharing the same Monitor with KVM works fine with the same resolution.
    Not Working
If i'm not using "nomodeset" as a kernel-parameter, i only get when booting to X a kind of not easy to describe kind of "pink screen with small lines", but no usable picture. Switching to the Virtuel Console 1 with Ctrl+Alt+F1 does "something". The Screen goes nearly complete black with some green lines and some green squares ... in the first "line" on the screen can perceive some grey lines, a bit looking like letters.
Before the update, everything worked fine with KMS
    A bit working
To get a usable Screen i tried, after a bit of research, the kernel line "no mode set" which helped immediately - the virtual console is OK, and X ist starting with the right resolution (1600x1200) but unfortunately with the wrong refresh rate. As i'm using an 21" crt this should be around 100hz, but i suspect it is more or less around 60hz, staring at it longer times isn't very comfortable.
I'm using no xorg.conf and in /etx/X11/xorg.conf.d/ are only two *.conf for input devices.
With "nomodeset" enabled i get this log:
    http://pastebin.com/s3KeqKhR
    Idea one:
I tried setting the right refresh rate like stated in the wiki https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xo … ng_started But with such an conf x.org crashes immediately.
    /edit i get xorg-errors like:
Screen deleted because of no matching config section
Device(s) detected, but none match the config
    Idea two:
Reinstallation xorg and the ati drivers: Nothing changes
    Idea three;
    Using KMS "earlystart": Nothing changes
    Idea four:
Using xrandr to set the right frequency:
    xrandr --newmode "1600x100_60.00"   12.75  1600 1648 1800 2000  100 103 113 116 -hsync +vsync
    Result: Nothing changes
Has anyone an idea? I know this is not very specific, i could try to make a photo without "nomodeset" if it helps, or paste some more xorg.logs or try to give you every piece of information you want.
Would it help installing the catalyst driver?
    Thanks for your Help!

Nope. Minecraft seems to run fine, albeit quite slowly:

The rendering errors at the bottom border of the "Cinnamon Settings" window and the white boxes between the chromium tabs. These are more or less permanent, they stay there until the window is destroyed, and reappear quickly after the window is first rendered. The white noise looking things on the chromium window stay there until the window repaints itself. Moving the chromium window causes the white noise to start flickering.
The screen froze when I opened a nautilus window and tried to resize it. Xorg.0.log doesn't mention any errors.
This doesn't happen in Cinnamon 2D, so I assume it has something to do with the OpenGL implementation.
    Forcing 7600M by adding
    BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
    to
    /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/20-radeon.cfg
causes Xorg to not even start.
I'm thinking that I've managed to improperly configure the drivers, although I don't see how.

The .wad (data file containing all the game's assets) isn't corrupted. The engine itself might be, as the sprites are always corrupted in the same way. Note the barrel on the right side that has parts of a lower resolution version of itself (mipmapping) and blue armour, the light thingy in the middle that contains a lower resolution of itself and a shotgun ammo, and the pillar in the other room that is just not nice to look at. Moving away or towards the sprite (which effectively changes the mipmap level rendered) might make the sprite look as it is supposed to be.

  • Vista Pink Screen Issue

My daughter uses a Z61M 9450 widescreen running Vista Business.  She was trying to login to a relatives wireless network and had to reboot after releasing IP manually or so she said!  When it rebooted everything looked fine and she logged in with user password on Vista entry screen. It processes the password and then the screen goes pink.  I tried safe mode and it brings a blank (black) safe mode screen with no desktop so it appears desktop interface is wacked.  HDD is running and all appears normal so this is does not appear to a major problem. I Ran diagnostics (everything good), hooked it up to external monitor and external is pink so it does not appear to be hardware related.  I am typing this from inside rescue recovery using the opera browser and about to embark on drivers which I assume got corrupted when she rebooted??  Anyway, besides the fact I probably should blow away Vista, any ideas??  Hoping driver updates will cure the problem...

Appreciate your comments.  I tried booting to the DVD and was able to run startup recovery but found no issue.  System thinks it is starting up properly.  It isn't at all hot because it happens even if the machine has been off and has just booted plus it is very cool to the touch compared to other thinkpads I run.  The really strange issue is being able to pop up Fn options over the top of the pink screen?  I can also run Opera under Thinkvantage rescue recovery and browse the internet so it appears the video card works great.  I wonder if the driver that loads when Vista starts is the issue?  I tried safe mode boot to VGA only and still get blank screen.  I can get to a C: prompt by booting to the Vista Dvd.
Have not been able to apply updates in the rescue recovery or update drivers.

  • Win Srv 2008R2 Black Screen at Log On (local and RDP)

    Hello everyone.
This is my first post on Technet Forum but I have used a lot the information provided here.
I have a very nasty issue which I have been struggling with. I am managing a SB network with a 2008 R2 server, running AD, DHCP, DNS, FS, WS and SQL. The server is not virtualized and has a pretty good configuration (E5506*2, 24GB, SAS 15k). I usually access
it by RDP but I also have a KVM switch when I want to work locally.
The issue I have started about a moth ago and presents like this: I start the RPD connection, the authentication is successful but I have only a black screen with the mouse pointer. If i connect via KVM locally it doesn`t even start my monitor. The only
solution to get video back is to hard reset, even if I press the shut down button the only thing that happens is that it powers up the monitor, but it wont power off the system.
When I connect by RDP and I get the black screen I sometimes get the following events on the server:
TermDD: The RDP protocol component X.224 detected an error in the protocol stream and has disconnected the client.
TermDD:The Terminal Server security layer detected an error in the protocol stream and has disconnected the client. Client IP: 192.168.10.100.
When this happens (black screen at log on) the services on the server start to fail one by one withing a few hours. The first one is SSRS, which is programmed to generate several reports and send by mail at 4 am. This fails but I don`t have any errors in
event viewer. It is followed by all others (ADWS, DHCP, DNS, FPT, etc.) Most errors refer to connectivity problem related to the directory server.
    Example of errors:
ADWS: Active Directory Web Services was unable to determine if the computer is a global catalog server.
DHCP-Server: The DHCP service failed to see a directory server for authorization.
I have tried everything I cold think or found online but to no avail.
Any ideas would be be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hi Alex,
Could you check if there is any warning or error logged in the event viewer during booting?
    It may give some hints.
    Best Regards.

  • FIOS DVR Info Screen during Pause and Playback unnecessary!

    Info Screen I'm talking about.
    www.prakashandlisa.com/comprak/uploads/blog/fios/fios6-thumbnail.jpg
The Info button on the remote is a nice feature, but am I the only one who thinks the Info Screen stays on to long? My count is 6 to 7 seconds. Where it is more of a pain is when you use the Pause button. The Info Screen will stay on until you either hit the Exit button or Play button. Hitting Play starts the 6 to 7 second clock before it disappears. Yes I know you can hit the Exit button and it will disappear. At this rate my Exit button will wear out soon.
There are 2 times when my fingers are constantly hitting the Exit button to cancel the Info Screen.
    1. Sporting events. When you just have to see the play again, you use the Skip Back 10 seconds button watch it again. Was he safe or out? Was it a touchdown or not? I don’t know because the Info Screen is showing. I have to go back and view it again and remember to hit the Exit button so the Info Screen will disappear so I can see first base or the end zone. The same goes for game stats that pop up on the screen during the game. You hit pause to view it and the Info Screen pops up over it. You have to hit Exit again.
    2. Newsmagazine (60 Minutes, etc.) / Reality shows (Survivor, etc.) / Subtitled movie or TV show (Heroes, etc.). For the rest of you who don’t like sports and could care less about my number one reason for hating the Info Screen maybe this will sway you. Every now and then during one of the above mentioned shows a text subtitle is bound to pop up. You hit the Pause or Skip Back button to read it. There is the Info Screen in the way.
I called Verizon to ask them if they could shorten the time the Info Screen stays when you hit the Info button or maybe they could make it a watermark image. The Pause is different because the Info Screen will stay on indefinitely or until you hit the Exit button. My suggestion was to get rid of the Info Screen during Pause, Play, Rewind and Fast Forward and just show a small watermark image of a Pause button on the side of the screen.
The response I got from them was that my complaint was logged. This will not get fixed unless other people complain. If you are also bothered by this call customer service and respond to this thread and maybe they will fix it. One can dream.
Message Edited by BOCswu on 09-29-2008 10:24 AM

I can’t believe no one else hates the Info Screen that shows up across the bottom of the TV when you Pause, Play, Rewind, Fast Forward, Skip Rewind and Skip Forward. If I want to know what I’m watching I’ll hit the Info button or OK button. I don’t need all those other buttons/actions to do the same thing. It is very redundant. Is anyone else tired of the Info screen popping up during the above actions? A solution would be very simple. Show an image of a Pause button or any of the other actions on the corners of the TV screen.
And yes I know you can hit the Exit button or OK button to make it go away, but why should I have to!

  • No Audio during Log and Capture

Hello, I have FCP 6.0 and am unable to hear my audio during log and capture. I have this problem on all 5 G5 Macs that I have, and have tried different editing docks and cables. I have used FCP for more than 5 years and have never had this problem. iMovie has audio during capture, so I am convinced that there is a pre-set in FCP that I don't have checked properly, but I've been over them many times and still have no answer. I searched past forums and didn't really find anything helpful to me.
My pre-sets are set to DV NTSC 48kHz and the playback pre-sets are set to default. I can hear audio of my clips after I log and capture, but I still need to hear audio during importing. I'm more confused than anything. If anybody has had this problem before or any suggestions for me, I'm all ears.
    Thanks.
    John

    ... as Bogie says.
However... this is a non-feature that dates back to slower CPU days... yet, still with all the different formats and such I (ME!!) I believe it's still good practice to leave it off.
Devoting as much CPU work to the capture process lessens the chance for something to go wrong. You can easily monitor the audio directly out of the deck as needed.
Sure -- octo cores need 30 apps open just to get your money's worth and I'm sure you won't have any issues using an 8th of one to send audio thru itself while the other 7 and 7/8ths are used for capture... but who wants to risk it?
Not me... I'm to old to change my ways.
Blast you FCP v1.2.5 on a beige G3 with 7gig and 15gig hard drive -- you taught me well.

  • B&W G3 - Pink Screen After Bootup?

My wife uses a B&W G3, OS 9.2.2. Motherboard Rev. B. Recently, the computer either:
-- boots normally, but after a short interval, perhaps as long as 10 minutes, the monitor goes pink. Solid pink like a sheet of construction paper. Monitor is an LCD screen.
-- tries to boot but never does, going directly to the pink screen.
Zapping the PRAM (multiple tries) did not rectify the problem. Replacing the PRAM battery did not rectify the problem.
Resources found on the web seem to indicate that this is a battery issue, but I could not readily find any description of a similar problem.
    Hints appreciated ...

There has been a history, in multiple brands of displays, of a problem with resistors in the Red, Green, or Blue input signals getting hotter than anticipated, squirming around, and making intermittent contact.
In the "good old days" these large-ish resistors were axial-lead components that were inserted through plated holes in the board and wave-soldered from below. They never came loose or had problems. More recently, in the move to all surface-mount components, they are now bar-shaped with contacts near the end. Too much heat and their solder joints can fracture.
Conventional wisdom for CRT displays was that to get to the resistors, you had to expose your self to potentially lethal voltages (upwards of 40,000 Volts) that could linger for months after the power was off. The voltages inside a flat panel display can reach few hundred volts, but there is no tube to act as a charge-storage device.

    Audigy 4
    LC Power 550 W PSU
I put in the installation CD that comes with the card. I want to install everything (full install), and mid-install I get a blue screen.
I then uninstalled everything and tried only to install the updated drivers from the website in safe-mode and still a blue screen. Should I get the dump file and send it to Creative?
How do get this card to work like it should? I also have a remote control that came together with the card.
Im currently using the onboard AC97 Realtek ALC850 soundcard.
Whats the whole procedure to make this work? Detailed please. How do I eliminate all traces of the audigy on my PC?
