PL/SQL final semicolons lost through worksheet

Something that's bothering me for quite some time now (across versions)...
Whenever I issue a PL/SQL "create or replace" statement through the worksheet, the resulting function or procedure is lacking the final semicolon (although I did put it explicitly in the worksheet), resulting in an invalid compilation.
This gets to be a royal pain if uses inside a script: since the create failed, the following statements fail in cascade...
Hoping for a future fix,
K.

I agree - it is still doing this in 1.1.2.25.79. This is one of the reasons that I am not using SQL Developer for maintenance of packages - I am still editing text files externally and using SQL*Plus to install them, rather than doing it through SQL Developer.

  • Image quality lost through editing with Photoshop?

    I find a number of professionals using Lightroom as their primary photo editor.
    I did a search on Lightroom vs Photoshop.  I found the following listed as the first reason for choosing Lightroom: 1.  Nondestructive Editing.  Nothing is actually changed (by Lightroom) in an image until it is exported.  This means you can make an adjustment, change it again and again, but no quality is lost as it would be with Photoshp.  This is reported in Outdoor Photographer.
    My impression is there is no lost of image quality in Photoshop if you are working on a layer copy of the Background.  Photoshop tries to prevent degradation of the original image by requiring it be copied  or otherwise freed before the background can be changed.
    Image quality can be lost in downstream layers through processes such as changing image size.
    Is my statement correct about loss of image quality and the 'analyst' from Outdoor Photographer misstating things?

    Hi Vince.
    I am just learning my way around Photoshp.  I have spent 18 months learning how to start and to stop it.
    Good point. But if we peg the learning curve of Ps at 10, Lr comes in around 2 or 3. Like learning to drive a car as opposed to learning to fly a jet.
    Smart Objects would make PS more re-editable.
    True, but still no match for Lr or Ps RAW.
    I have never before seens a comment that extensive work on an image in PS would deteriorate the quality of the image.
    Extensive work will do what the user asks it to do. In the first 18 months I had Ps, I asked it to do lots of things that I now realize deteriorated my images. Forever.
    Regarding LR, I have created for me a workflow that requires PS.
    So did everyone before Lr came out. And yet, Ps users by the thousands, if not millions, have adopted Lr. Many if not most with a greater time investment in Ps than 18 months. I dropped my Ps centric flo the moment I realized what Lr could do. I had been using Ps pretty heavily for about 5 years by that time.
    I feel LR works best for experienced photographers who are shoooting a lot of pictures.
    While it's true that experienced photographers might realize more benifit, maybe not. It works great for everyone.
    That person has good images, images that need little editing, to start the output process.
    This is not true in the sense that the majority of Lr users are mediocre photographers at best. For the simple fact that most photographers (even "pros") are mediocre at best. And Lr was conceived with these folks in mind. It has the true "pro" stuff, but in an amateur friendly environment. Judging by the images and questions posted on photo and Lr forums, there are many, many, low level photographers using it.
    I am an inexperienced photographer shooting just a few pictures.  So I put a lot of effort into getting a good print from my mediocre shots.
    You obviously care about your images. Care more when you are shooting them. This is boiler plate advice. Time spent mastering your camera will pay off better dividends than learning to fix bad photos. This was true before the digital age, and it's just as true now. Ultimately, no matter how hard you massage it in Ps, Lr, or any other app, the quality of your final image will be a function of the quality of the original pixels you captured with you camera.
    So far as masks and all the rest, Lr has an Local Area Adjustment Brush which does just that. You paint the mask, complete with any number or combination of adjustments, with a brush. The mask and the adjustments to it can be easily changed later. A good spot removal tool. A great red eye tool.
    File size isn't a huge factor these days, but it still counts. Instead of layers and the pixel data for each of them as in Ps, Lr has the pixel data once, and a sidecar file with the adjustments settings in a much smaller file. Not a big deal for storage, but when rendering, maybe a bigger deal. Lr also pre-renders previews at various sizes (you can program this, plus how long it keeps them). I could go on and on (and I have).
    Bottom line, it's a great tool for anyone who takes photos. For the price, it's a no brainer for $150. If you have the $150. Not true for many of us these days.
    Anyway, Vince,  I hope you don't think I'm picking on you. I answered you in detail because you made such good points. And the answers might be of general interest.
    Peace,
    Lee

  • Access/SQL connection being lost

    Hello,
    Here is the situation: Windows Server 2012 Standard Edition, SQLServer 2012 Standard edition, MSAccess 2013 using ODBC 11. Sometime Access users get a message that they do not have permission to access SQLServer or that is doesn't exist. I checked the SQLServer
    logs and could not find any errors. But, on the Windows NT Security Log, I found a lot of messages (all at the same time) that say An account was successfully logged on, then immediately: An account was logged off (with the user's login name). There were about
    50 of these messages in the space of a few minutes.
    The only way that user could restore their connection to SQLServer was to reboot their machine.
    I do notice a lot of logon - logoff messages for some of the users. Is this typical?
    I believe we have enough client access licenses to Server 2012. I may need to check this. One problem may be that we have only 10 CALs to SQL Server, but we have 11 machines connecting through Access to SQL Server. I didn't think this would be a problem
    because we only have 7 employees and they are normally only at one desk/logon.
    Any help greatly appreciated!
    Thank you,
    Albert

    SQLOLEDB is not an ODBC driver, it is an OLE DB provider. But since OLE DB has been deprecated for connection to SQL Server, maybe you should use ODBC instead. And, yes, it would be better to use SQL Server Native client:
    Public Const CONNECTSTRING = "Driver={SQL Server Native Client 11.0};User ID=myID; pwd=myPassword; Data Source=192.168.1.141; Initial Catalog=myDatabase; Integrated Security=SSPI;"
    You may have to change other parts of the connection string, as ODBC and OLE DB do not have exactly same keywords for the connection strings.
    However, the cause for your lost connections are likely to be elsewhere. The error message means that you were not able to read SQL Server at all. You mentioned entries about log in and out in the Windows event log. Were these messages from SQL Server or
    where were this account logging in and out from?

  • SQL edit window lost?

    Hi,
    I seem to have lost my SQL edit window and for some reason I cannot find any mention of how to reopen it in the help either. Can someone give me a hint?
    Thanks!
    neemeca

    Just go up to the top and click on the little SQL icon that has a little down arrow next to it, or you can right click on a database connection and disconnect, then reconnect. The default behavior is to open up a sql edit window when you connect.
    If you're on windows alt+F10 works too.
    Alternatively you can choose "SQL Worksheet" from the tools menu.

  • How can I copy SQL results to different csv worksheets in the same workbook

    Hi all,
    I'm running a series of select statements using SQLPlus and I want the results for each statement to be copied to different worksheets within the same workbook.
    For example, this is what I want: 'select statement 1' is run and spooled to file.csv / worksheet1. When 'select statement 2' is run it is spooled to file.csv / worksheet2. Same csv file but a different worksheet.
    Right now my SQL is creating a seperate csv file for each select statement. Here's an example of my SQL:
    spool c:\TEMP22\App_Eng1.csv replace
    Select A.OBJECTOWNERID||','||B.OBJECTVALUE1
    from PSPROJECTITEM B, PSAEAPPLDEFN A
    Where B.PROJECTNAME = 'PRJETSC342'
    and B.SOURCESTATUS = 2
    and B.TARGETSTATUS = 1
    and B.OBJECTVALUE2 = ' '
    and B.OBJECTTYPE=33
    and A.AE_APPLID = B.OBJECTVALUE1;
    spool off
    Is what I want to accomplish possible? Any ideas? Thanks.

    As far as I know you can't have "worksheets" for .csv files. They are simply comma separated values (a flat file). I would suggest that you generate separate csv files for each of your queries and then create a new xls file and import each csv file as a new worksheet.
    If you want to automate this process, I recommend you read this:

  • Creating multiple views in SQL Server 2008 database through sqlcmd

    I've written a script that generates a ddl file. The ddl file contains all the table creation, view creation and stored proc creation SQL statements for refreshing my database. The ddl file gets run by sqlcmd.
    From reading other forum posts, it seems that views and stored procedures can only be created through the sqlcmd command when they are part of an individual batch. Can someone please direct me to the documentation on how to do this?
    My DDL is below pertaining to view creation:
    CREATE VIEW [global].[viewDstLocations]
      WITH SCHEMABINDING
     AS
       SELECT REPLACE(STR(c.dstYear, 2), ' ', '0') AS 'DSTyear',
              a.countryCode AS 'CountryCode',
              a.countryDivision AS 'CountryDivision',
              a.stateCode AS 'StateCode',
              a.locationCode AS 'LocationCode',
              a.locationType AS 'LocationType',
              a.gmtVariation AS 'GMTvariation',
              c.dstVariation AS 'DSTvariation',
              REPLACE(SUBSTRING(CONVERT(VARCHAR(8), c.dstStartTs, 8), 1, 5), ':', '')  AS 'DSTstart_time',
              CONVERT(VARCHAR(8), c.dstStartTs, 12) AS 'DSTstart_date',
              c.statusMarkerStart AS 'StatusMarker_start',
              REPLACE(SUBSTRING(CONVERT(VARCHAR(8), c.dstEndTs, 8), 1, 5), ':', '')  AS 'DSTend_time',
              CONVERT(VARCHAR(8), c.dstEndTs, 12) AS 'DSTend_date',
              c.statusMarkerEnd AS 'StatusMarker_end',
              c.dataIndicator AS 'DataIndicator',
              b.locationName AS 'LocationName',
              a.latitude AS 'Latitude',
              a.longtitude AS 'Longtitude'
          FROM [global].[dstLocations] a
             LEFT JOIN [global].[dstLocationNames] b ON (b.locationId = a.locationId AND b.locale = 'en_US')
                LEFT JOIN [global].[dstLocationInfo] c ON (c.locationId = a.locationId);
    GO;
    EXEC sys.sp_addextendedproperty @name=N'MS_Description', @value=N'DST location info shown in the legacy table structure as well as data format.',
     @level0type=N'SCHEMA', @level0name=N'global', @level1type=N'VIEW', @level1name=N'viewDstLocations';
    GO;
    CREATE VIEW [global].[viewTypes]
      WITH SCHEMABINDING
     AS
       SELECT a.levelTypeId, a.levelTypeName, a.levelDepth, b.productId, b.productName, c.baseLevelTypeId, c.baseLevelTypeName
          FROM [global].[levelTypes] a
             LEFT JOIN [global].[products] b ON (b.levelTypeId = a.levelTypeId)
                LEFT JOIN [global].[baseLevelTypes] c ON (c.levelTypeId = a.levelTypeId);
    GO;
    EXEC sys.sp_addextendedproperty @name=N'MS_Description', @value=N'Displays level types and their associated products and base level types.' , @level0type=N'SCHEMA',@level0name=N'global', @level1type=N'VIEW',@level1name=N'viewTypes';
    GO;
    <<Several other views>>

    Kalman,
    I've followed that approach, but was getting an error. Hopefully this gives enough detail:
    First, I use a .bat file to generate the sql file as you suggest. The structure is as follows:
    USE [MYDB]
    GO
    <<All my create scripts, without GO between them>>
    GO;
    <<All my view scripts, without GO between them>>
    GO;
    <<All my strored procedures, without GO between them>>
    GO;
    Then, I run the generated SQL with the -i option as you mentioned.
    I get back the resulting error below:
    Msg 156, Level 15, State 1, Server DEV-238SQLEXPRESS, Procedure viewDstLocations, Line 2
    Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'EXEC'.
    Msg 156, Level 15, State 1, Server DEV-238SQLEXPRESS, Procedure spGeneralDeleteNodeAndSubtree, Line 2
    Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'PROCEDURE'.
    Msg 137, Level 15, State 2, Server DEV-238SQLEXPRESS, Procedure spGeneralDeleteNodeAndSubtree, Line 2
    Must declare the scalar variable "@parentId".
    Msg 137, Level 15, State 2, Server DEV-238SQLEXPRESS, Procedure spGeneralDeleteNodeAndSubtree, Line 2
    Must declare the scalar variable "@levelTypeId".
    Msg 137, Level 15, State 1, Server DEV-238SQLEXPRESS, Procedure spGeneralDeleteNodeAndSubtree, Line 2
    Must declare the scalar variable "@name".
    Msg 137, Level 15, State 2, Server DEV-238SQLEXPRESS, Procedure spGeneralDeleteNodeAndSubtree, Line 2
    Must declare the scalar variable "@name".
    Msg 134, Level 15, State 1, Server DEV-238SQLEXPRESS, Procedure spGeneralDeleteNodeAndSubtree, Line 2
    The variable name errormsg has already been declared. Variable names must be unique within a query batch or stored procedure.
    From the documentation, I saw that CREATE VIEW needs to be the first statement in a batch. I assume this to mean I will need to break out my view and stored procedures to separate files and call the sqlcmd command multiple times, once for the table creation
    and then once for each view and once for each stored procedure. If there is a way to still do this as only one file, that would answer my original question.
    If there is anything else I can paste or send, please let me know.

  • SQL statement in Drill-Through

    Hi, when you make a drill-through in excel add-in, is some way to get sql statement in excel? without open the EIS console.
    I need this because Drill-through don't work well in a metaoutline with filter IN, so the user can use the query to execute the sql statement directly in the database.

    there is no functionality to get the SQL that is about to be executed in Excel. There is a way to edit the columns or add filtering, but you really don't get the SQL statement.
    You would have to design it yourself. You could grab the sql statement that is generated in the metaoutline and bring it into excel and have a macro that does the replacements.

  • SQL Developer 3.0.04 worksheets not displaying

    Worksheets are not displaying in SQL Developer 3.0.04.34 (download included JDK1.6.0_11) on Windows 7 Enterprise 32-bit. I upgraded from 2.1.1.64 and chose to migrate existing connections.
    I am able to open all connections, view table and object listings in the navigator tree view, and expand tables to see column names, but nothing displays when I click the Data tab, Columns, Grants, or any other tabs. No column headings appear. No error messages appear.
    When opening views, I am able to click on the SQL tab and retrieve text.
    No data displays when I run a query. The same thing happens when I try anything that should return data, such as Tools...Monitor Sessions, anything from the new DBA navigator, anything from the Reports tab.
    This is only happening on one of two Windows 7 PCs I have installed it on (both upgraded from 2.1.1.64), so I know it should work.
    I have tried:
    re-installation
    reboots
    separate installation of Java JDK 1.6.0_25 and the SQL Developer version that excludes the JDK
    uninstalling Java to eliminate conflicts
    locating the SQL Developer folder outside of Program Files to eliminate Administrator permission issues
    editing SetJavaHome in sqldeveloper.conf
    Has anyone seen this same problem?

    I just solved my own problem. I don't know what caused it, but the fix is fairly simple.
    SQL Developer is not installed in Windows using an installation program, and to my knowledge doesn't have registry entries. Application-specific configuration and temporary data is kept in
    C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\SQL Developer\
    This folder contains information for all copies of SQL Developer installed on the computer.
    Before re-installing, it is necessary to completely uninstall version 3.0.04. This is done by deleting the folder where you installed SQL Developer, in addition to the following AppData folder:
    C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\SQL Developer\system3.0.04.34
    I also deleted C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\SQL Developer\SqlHistory, but that might not have been necessary.

    Is It possible? if yes how to do?
    is there any way of accomplishing this?

    Yes. Using Attunity Connect native drivers for Oracle. Attunity Connect drivers are also licensed and resold by Oracle under the name "Oracle Transparent Gateways" or "Oracle Eterogeneous Services".
    The OEM Oracle driver are "light" ones. The Attunity drivers are more complete. Consult www.attunity.com

    These property information are emtpy in the original document which we wanted to be copied and also in the new copied item ?!
    The SAP UI Command problem for copy a content item occures by selecting one content item and by selecting serveral items at the same copy execution.
    Please inform us about a fix to this problem. As we mentioned this behaviour to SAP at the DSAG fair in Leipzig, Germany we got the answer that this is a software bug.

    Copying content might not provide timebased publishing parameters, however, you can try it with "Move" Command.
    Move will copy all related parameters along with the file...

  • Template SQL for EIS Drill-Through

    I am trying to figure out the command that I need to add to my template SQL in an EIS drill-through report that will exclude all rows that have a 0 value in my data column when the report is executed. Does anyone have an example of how this can be done?

    The $$dimension-COLUMN$$ represents the column that contains your member name in your table and the $$dimension-MEMBERCOLUMN$$ represents the member.
    When you run the drill-through report the $$dimension-MEMBERCOLUMN$$ will be replaced by the member referenced in the cross-section.
    e.g. if you launch your drill-though on a cell where the product ID is 100-10 then the drill-though will only pull out data for product 100-10
    SELECT......WHERE SKU IN (100-10)
