Planning Unit - Changing Days to Hours

The project I am working in started with Engineering work, scheduled in days. I have added the Construction portion later, which needs to be scheduled in hours. How do I do this within the same schedule without affecting the previous work? I'm working in Primavera P6.1.

The default planning unit in P6 is hours. So, even though your Engineering work is entered in days, the schedule is calculated based on the equivalent hours.

    Hello,
    I have got a question concerning unit conversion in integrated planning.
    I created a key figure called "workload" and asigned the UnitInfoObject "0unit". Two input-ready queries are available in order to plan the workload in two different units of measurements. One allows planning in hours and the other in days. Furthermore, I would like to have the planned data only in the unit "hours" available in the InfoCube. This requires a unit conversion in some place for the input-ready query that retrieves workload data in days. I am not sure, if a planning function is the appropriate manner to solve this issue. The conversion factor should be 8 as 1 working day is equal to 8 working days.
    Can anybody explain me how to do that? The sap.help.com is not very expressive in respect with this issue!
    I found a "HowTo" paper in sdn. Apparently, you have to maintain an InfoObject in order to convert the data. I do not understand why you need an InfoObject as a the conversion is a simple factor (in this case times 8 ).

    Thanks for posting the CREATE TABLE and INSERT statemements for sr_request1. Isn't there another table involved, that provides the so_date and so_time columns?
    If Hoek's solution isn't doing what you want, post that table, and the results you want 9as few columns as possible, just to show the part with which you need help).

    Whether you use Hoek's approach or mine, it looks like you'll want to compute the number of days first, in a sub-query, so that you can use a simple number (rather than a complicated expression) two or three times to get the right format.
    That is, you'll want something like:

  • Calculation of planned costs in CS service order with 1 day = 8 hours

    Dear experts!
    What kind of possibilities do I have to calculate the planned costs in the CS service order (IW31) on the basis 1 day = 8 hours.
    Right now, when I create the operation with "amount of work" = 5 days, the system calculates 120 hours * x u20AC. My requirement would be, that the system calculates 40 hours * x u20AC.
    Do I have to change settings in transaction CUNI or can I use the work center to solve my problem? Or any other idea?

    Jens,
       You should be able to use the work center to solve this problem.Check the working hours in the operation work center and make sure its set to 8 hrs.This should solve your problem.

  • Error While Opening dataform after creating Planning Unit Hierarchy

    Hi All,
    I created a Planning Application through classic wizard. Then i created a planning unit hierarchy, after which I am getting the following error: (when i try to open a dataform, from some user other than admin/owner)
    *"Security and/or filtering has resulted in a required dimension not being represented on this data form"*
    I know that this error occurs when some dimension members are represented on dataform but are not assigned with security rights. But thats not the problem in my case. Because I assign security rights to all members of all dimension just for the sake of testing. I later on identifed that this error occurs due to dimensions present in POV i.e. I need to select a single member of each POV dimensions, then in such case this error disappears.
    Now my question is that why i need to select a single member from each POV dimension? I general i leave POV dimensions as it is, while creating dataform
    Right now i aad a dummy member at the top of each dimension, e.g Account_UnSpecified, Entity_UnSpecified and so on . . . and then i select this member from each of POV dimension.

    You can try creating new Root folder and new workspace for your NWDS.
    1.  Create a new folder with name ' <userID>_NWDS_NEW_ROOT ' in your machine
    2. Create a new folder with name ' <userID>_NWDS_NEW_WORKSPACE ' in your machine
    3. Open NWDS (and logon to DTR)
    4. Remove all configurations from your Development Configuration perspective (except 'Local Development')
    5. Go to Window --> Preferences --> Java Development Infra --> Development Configurations
    6. Change 'Root Folder' to the folder created in step-1
    7. Close NWDS
    8. Create ' Run_NWDS.bat ' file in your NWDS installation folder which has 'SapIde.exe' file
    (it will be generally in --> C:\Program Files\SAP\IDE\IDE70\eclipse)
    9. Type following in .bat file -->
    SapIde.exe -data "<complete path to folder created in step-2>"
    10. Now double click on this .bat file to open NWDS
    Now logon to DTR, import configuration, create project from 'inactive DCs' and you should be able to create project and see it in respective perspective.

    I have an requirement, need to create report which specifies all the list of Org Units that are created and delimited during the given period.
    The report has to display any changes for Org. Unit in HRP1000, HRP1001 and HRP1008.
    Please suggest how to find out any changes occured for Org. Unit.
    Standard report RHCDOC_DISPLAY needs to be used for Org unit change history report.

    You need to maintain the Settings for "CHANGE DOCUMENTS" in the Config;
    use this IMG Path :
    Personnel management -
    > Organization management -
    > Basic Settings -
    >Activate Change Documents
    Execute the link Activate Change Documents and maintain all the settings as below;
    Plan Version : 01
    Object Type : S , O , (all the objects that you like to put )
    Infotype : 1001 / 1008
    Subtype : *
    Active :  Tick the check Box.
    You need to create One line per Object type;
    Ex :   
    01(Plan)                                   S (OTYPE)                         1001(ITYPE)                             *  (STYPE)                         Tick Mark (Active)

  • Approvals Process:  Cannot promote a Planning Unit

    Hi, Am new to the Approvals process in Planning 11.1.2.2
    Have set up a Planning unit and assigned owner and reviewers to entities. Approvals template is set to "Bottom Up". Have also assigned a version and scenario to the Planning Unit H. When the Planning Unit is Started , the current owner changes to the user assigned as the owner and all is good. However when the owner attemptes to promote the planning unit to the next reviewer the promotion action fails with the message "Change status cannot change ownership to the new owner due to insufficient access". For my testing, have assigned the owner and all reviewers "Approvals Administrator" access to the planning application.
    Any ideas as to what access the error message is talking about ?

    -Please check with the Provision that you have given to the USER,
    -Use file based export and checke wheater you missed any user to mention that hierarchy.
    -IN the approval hierarchy check  every node weather you have given the user there or not, chances are that even if you miss one member you will get
    this error.
    -We faced the same issue and we got resolved it by checking the Provision of the User and following the above steps

    Is it possible to change days to be seconds in the lead time field of item master data --> planning tab ?
    if not, how could we include the cycle time of production machine in the MRP wizard ? We would like to know how much the production orders created from the MRP in one day and then we want to use MRP as controller of the capacity of production.
    E.g. we have maximum 1,000 ton of FG in our shopfloor and we want that MRP can check how much current capacity and then MRP can recommend the production order to fill the remain available capacity. We use B1 2007A SP01 PL10.  Pls adv.

  • Users having access can't promote planning units during First pass state

    There is something I do not understand using the workflow in Hyperion Planning 11.1.2 : on first pass state, users having access can not promote a planning unit.
    Only the owner can promote... to himself !

    Hi,
    I tried first with a Planner user, and then with a Interactive user, and there is no difference.
    When I try to change the status, I have an error message that tells me that I can't change status of the planning unit.

  • Running Rules on "Locked"/Promoted Planning Units

    Hi All,
    I'm using Hyperion Planning and Smart View Version 11.1.2.2.
    Does anyone know if it is possible to prevent users from being able to run rules on data that is supposedly "locked out" by virtue of a Planning Unit? I was under the impression that Planning Units were supposed to control who could change the data rather than simply who could type numbers into forms, maybe I had this wrong? It seems a bit of a transparent piece of functionality if users can still change numbers after they've passed ownership to someone else.
    A working Example:
    A user can promote their data, but is still able to go back to a form where that data sits and run Rules on-Save, through Right-click menus or through Smart View.
    I'm worried about someone accidentally interfering with data whilst another user is analysing it etc.
    Am I missing something here?

    Hi, Ed.
    You're right, Planning has so many parts to be developed. PU promotion doesn't prevent users from running BR's
    If you're really worry about it you can think up a workaround.
    You have to create a new form having design simular to a PU hierarchy. User have to enter data (suppose 1) in intersection of Scenario, Version, Entity and Account (if used in PUH) All others dims member should be Begbalance, Product n/a etc.
    All BR's you need to prevent from executing while PU is approved, freezed or just owned by the reviewer or in other cases you think about should include extra code before original calculation takes place. You simply check the value of 1 in all calculated PUs in current BR and throw an error if meet it (@RETURN with some justified text message)
    So when one user (lets say first owner) has finished entering data he goes to the form discussed above and enters 1 for related PU. You can build a task list having such steps After that no one can execute BR successfuly

    Partner with BP period 2011-01-01 to 2011-04-30.
    An advance invoice has been made out with payment date 2011-02-28. Now BB plan is inactive.
    Creating interim billing in 2011-03-05  (interim meter reading with billing)
    MR unit change from 06.03.2011 (MR unit with BB cycle=0)
    Error (el01) while creating MR order for installation (data: 20.03.2011)- interim with billing (02) ; message E9 035 'No objects
    corresponded to the selection criteria'.
    The only way is to do it with the device. Is there any way to do it for installaton?
    From 2011-06-01 everything is OK. (for both)

    If you would like to enter the MR result with MR reason 02 - Interim billing, you do not need to create MR order. Just enter the installation number, date of MR. After that you can enter the MR results and save.
    The MR order will be created immediately.

  • Three owners of one planning unit in EPM 11.1.2.1

    I building the budget block hierarchy and I've the situation:
    I have three owners of one planning unit (three planners with the same access to data forms, bus. rules and so on, 3 planners in one entity), but more than one owner can't be.
    How can I solve this situation without changing the hierarchy of Entity dimension?

    Hi. If I've understood your question well you want to assign 3 users as owners of 1 planning unit at the same time. So any of them can submit data and promote it to the next user (reviewers)
    It works in 11.1.2.2 and 3 users have to be included into group. The group is assinged as an onwer of such planning unit.

  • Planning Process Mgmt/Workflow function - Reset Planning Units

    We are rolling forward our Planning application for a new budget year. I changed the Budget scenario start and end years, but I cannot recall how to reset the Planning units for Process Mgmt/Workflow. BTW: All the units are currently designated "Under Review", but they were actually finalized last summer. Any help would be appreciated.

    You can reset them by taking the same route you did to start them.
    Log in as an admin
    Select File, then Process Management, then Manage Process.
    select a scenario.
    select a version.
    select the top entity > and choose cycle exclude.
    This will reset all process management for the scenario/version combination

  • Calcmgr rules circumvent planning unit ownership read/write restriction?

    Hi All.
    Planning 11.1.2.2
    I have obsaerved that a rule set up to allow writing a value on a database intersection, circumvents the planning unit ownership allowing users to write to an intersection in a unit that is not in their ownership and where they are not able to write from the UI.
    Is this expected/has it always been this way?
    I have a requirement that the user should not see the full account tree when loading a form, as not all accounts are relevant for all entities. Therefore missing rows are suppressed. In order for a missing row to become visible on the form I implemented a rule which allows to enter the value for the account, which then becomes visible on the form. However this same rule when run by a user on a planning unit they are not owning can still change values that the user cannot change in the UI as he is not a planning unit owner.
    I assume this is due to the fact that the planning unit ownership restrictions don't apply in essbase and the rule goes directly there, but I want to know if it is expected that business rules fail to honor ownership restrictions on planning units.

    These are correct, the calc will run whatever you tell it to run. If you use a business rule, it will still run the calc on what you tell it to run on, but you can prompt for a member (or take it from the form), and right your fix statement so that the calc only runs on the prompt. The prompt is related to security and a user can't select a member they don't have access to. That might help with your issue.
