Plant to Plant Asset Transfers

Hi,
I have one asset 123456.. I wish to transfer that asset from Plant 2120 to Plant 3130.
If I use ABUMN, I need to create a new asset in plant 3130.
However, my client does not want a new asset number. He wants the same asset number 123456 should move from Plant 2120 to Plant 3130 with all the values.
How can that be done?
Kindly assist on the same...

Hi,
ABUMN is within a company code. Within a company code you can not have 2 equal numbers.
I think you mean ABT1N: Intercompany transfer - right?
I'm sorry this is not possible. You have a number range interval  which is defined per asset class.
if you have a external number assignment you can assign a number
within a number range intervall.
To make this automaticaly you can use User-Exit / AIST0001.

  • Best Practice for Acquisition of Utility Plant Assets from another utility

My company is located in the United States and will be taking on an initiative of purchasing the Utility Plant assets from another company.  We are governed by Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) Accounting Standards.  In the guidance for the accounting where one utility purchases the assets of another utility, it states that the purchasing company must account for the Utility Plant Assets in FERC Account 102 at a net book value until FERC approval is received on the sale of the other utility.  Depreciation must be calculated based on the Gross Book Value and applied to this same FERC Account.  What must happen in order to track the assets is that the asset's APC Value and the Depreciation Value must transfer from the utility selling the Plant Assets balance sheet to the utility purchasing the Plant Assets balance sheet respectively.
    As an example:
Utility ABC is selling their plant assets to Utility XYZ.  The NBV of the plant assets is $60,000,000.  It is broken down to Debit $80,000,000 for the APC Value (in FERC account 101 on Utility ABC's balance sheet) and credit $20,000,000 associated to Depreciation Value (in FERC account 108 on Utility ABC's balance sheet).  When the sale is pending FERC approval the NBV is accounted for on Utility XYZ's balance sheet in FERC account 102.  This amount will be processed to the selling Utility on a PO for the purchase.
I have configured the Fixed Asset module of SAP to account for the APC Value and the Depreciation Value in separate sub accounts of FERC account 102, that are se-up as reconciliation accounts on the G/L, in the account assignment of the respective asset classes.  we track our assets based on asset class that pertain to the FERC Primary Plant Accounts.
I am trying to load the assets to the Fixed Asset module having the APC Value and the Depreciation Value reported respectively.  If the NBV amount is processed on the PO, what would be the best practice to load the  APC Value and Depreciation Value to the respective assets?
My first thought would be to process the PO for the NBV of the assets against a generic FERC Account 102, that is not set-up as a reconciliation account.  I would then process an asset transaction using t-code ABSO with transaction type 158 and use the generic FERC account 102 as the Offsetting Account in the entry and using Document Type AA.
I would like to follow best practice in this scenario.
You help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you very much for your response.
I hope I can provide some clarity on how the accounting needs to be handle per FERC  Regulations.  The G/L balance on the utility that is selling the assets will be in the following accounts (standard accounts across all FERC Regulated Utilities):
101 - Acquisition Value for the assets
108 - Accumulated Depreciation Value for the assets
For an example, there is Debit $60,000,000 in FERC Account 101 and a credit $30,000,000 in FERC Account 108.  When the purchase occurs, the net book value for the asset will be on our G/L in FERC Account 102.  Once we have FERC Approval to acquire the plant assets, we will need to enter the Acquisition Value and associated Accumulated Depreciation onto our G/L to FERC Account 101 and FERC Account 108 respectively with an offset to FERC Account 102.
The method that I came up with is to purchase the NBV of the assets to a clearing account.  I then set up account assignments that will track the Acquisition Value and respective Accumulated Depreciation for each asset that is being purchased.  I load the respective asset values using t-code AS91 and then make an entry to the 2 respective accounts with the offset against the clearing account using t-code OASV.  Once my company receives FERC approval, I will transfer the asset to new assets that has the account assignments for FERC Account 101 and FERC Account 108 using t-code ABUMN or FB01.

  • Partial fixed asset transfers

    Hi Experts,
In partial fixed asset transfers, why do we need to indicate whether it is a prior-year acquisition or current year acquisition? Why cannot the system pick this information?
Really appreciate your insight in this regard.
    Thanks in advance,
    Em Jay

    Hi Alex,
Thanks for your reply. But I need more clarification, here the assets need to have new cost centers updated in their master data.
Will ABUMN help in this case? I mean this is master data change in assets so how can we change it by transfer?
    Thanks

  • Mass Intercompany asset transfers

    Hello SAP Gurus,
I'd like to know the intercompany asset transfers(Mass). When I'm using the worklist and selected the intercompany assert transfers and released. I'm getting and error that the Asset classes differs from sending company code and recieveing company code.
My questions is if I wanted to transfers mass assets as we're using different asset classes in each company code, tell me what is the process of doing.
    Appreciate your help.
    Pradeep

    Hi,
I would suggest you go for LSMW instead of the worklists in your case. In the recording you have the option to create the new asset in your selected asset class in the receiving company.

  • Asset Transfer to another Plant without transferring Accum. Depreciation

Our Client has some special requirement in Asset Accounting.
Suppose he has an Asset at Plant A with Original Cost - 1,00,000/- & Accumulated Depreciation of 40,000/-.
He wants to transfer it to Plant B at 60,000/- & 40,000/- Accumulated depreciation to remain in plant A(old plant).
But When we use TCode - ABUMN - Asset Transfer within a Company Code,
it transfers both 1,00,000/- Original Cost & 40,000/- Accumulated Depreciation thereon to new plant(plant B).
    is it Possible in SAP?

  • AS100 Asset Transfers

I am trying to upload assets into a new company code.  But when testing this, the deprecation values that pull into AW01N are never correct.
I can't seem to get SAP to calculate the correct monthly depreciation charge.
I'm uploading the Company Code, Asset Class, Description, Cost Centre, Plant, Capitalization Date, Depreciation Area, Depreciation Key, Useful Life, Depreciation Start Date and Cumul APC Value,
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Many thanks,

    Susan,
Probably the reason for incorrect depreciation calculation is due to incorrect data specification for the asset transfer.
In IMG Path: Asset Accounting>Asset Data Transfer>Parameters for Data Transfer-->Date Specifications, specify the correct Transfer date/last closed fiscal year & the correct last period posted in previous system.
That should get you the correct results you expect.
    Regards,
    ~Vishal.

  • Asset Transfers

    Hi Guys,
I am geting this error while i am trying to transfer assets via T-code ABUM (since this t-code gives you an option to enter transaction type). Basic requirment is to pass-on the trading partner as well and thats why i am trying to use transaction type 350 -- Transfer prior-yr acquis to affiliated company.
Please suggest me how to get rid of the error - "Contact your system administrator(Table Error)"
    Drill down error is:
Contact your system administrator (table error)
    Message no. AA423
    Diagnosis
You are using a transaction type for a transfer between affiliated companies. You cannot post using transaction type 350.
According to the Customizing definition for this transaction type, posting has to be made to area 01. However, this area has been defined for 'Transfer from affiliated company - gross' (Asset Customizing: Valuation -> Areas).
    System Response
    The posting is rejected.
    Procedure
Check the transaction type entered and the specifications for the area named above.
    Thanks,
    Maulik

    Hi,
check whether any limitations are specified for TTY-350:
Financial Accounting> Asset Accounting> Transactions> Transfers> Define Transaction Types for Transfers> Limit Transaction Types to Depreciation Areas (OAXC)
if limitations exists include your depreciation area 01, other wise remove the limitations.
    Thanks

  • Oracle Assets: Transferring Assets between Books

With current 11i functionality there is no way to transfer assets between two corporate books. It would seem that the current workaround is to retire the assets in the "old" corporate book and then load them in the "new" corporate book.
What is the best way of achieving this? What are the things to consider?

    fix:
To upload negative assets from ADI, use one of the following workarounds:
    1. Upload the negative costs assets with the YTD Depreciation and Depreciation
Reserve set to NULL (not zero, null).
    2. Update FA_Mass_Additions with the YTD Depreciation and Depreciation Reserve.
    Or
    1. Upload the negative costs assets with a the YTD Depreciation and

    2. Post the assets.
    3. Prior to running depreciation for the book. adjust the YTD Depreciation

  • Asset Transfor - one Plant to another

    Hi Friends
We have 2 plants; let say 1000 and 2000 under one company code.
Plant 1000 is excisable unit and Plant 2000 is non excisable unit (Agriculture product). In Plant 2000, whatever we paid tax to vendor, we are adding the taxes to inventory, because there is no utilization.
Now my requirement is we want to transfer Assets Plant 1000 to 2000 Plant.
What is Process we should follow?
One of friend was saying simply change Plant in the Asset Master. I donu2019t think itu2019s not good solution. If we change like this again we have face legal problems. Because we taking plant trail balance. There should be some accounting entries to transfer asset one plant to another.
Someone was saying use STO process. For STO process we need Material. But we have not created asset as a material.
Please tell me what is process Plant to Plant Asset Transfer.
And what is Excise part in this process.
    Thanks & Regards
    Teja

    Hi Giris
Balance Sheet is always prepared at Company Level or at Business Area Level. We never prepare Balance sheet at plant level.
Secondly if you want to have plant wise balance sheet then you need to create plant wise business areas.Means non of plant should be equal to No of Business Areas.
To answer your question in that case when you will transfer the asset then
Asset A/c at (Receiving BA ) ........Dr
Asset A/c at (Sending BA ) ..........Cr
Then when you will do business area clearing the other leg that is Co responding Entry of Dr or Cr will be automatically posted and it will make your Balance sheet tallied at Business Area level.
    The Entry Will be
Inter BA Clearing A/C (Sending BA ).....Dr
Inter BA Clearing A/C (Receiving BA )....Cr
    Hope this had clarified you.

  • Transfer on Hold from one plant to another

    Hi Friends,
My client has capitalised a Fixed Asset. 50% of the Cenvat Credit is lying in Cenvat On Hold Account.
Now the customer wants to transfer the Asset to another plant. Consequent to this, they want the balance lying in Cenvat on Hold A/c also to be transferred to the new plant.
I understand that Asset can be transferred from one plant to another through T Code ABUMN, but I do not have any clue regarding transfer of amount in Cenvat On Hold A/c.
    Any suggestions please
    Thanks,
    Srinivas A

    Hi Hemalatha Madam,
The information given by  you is very useful.
For executing J2I8 transaction, I gave the following input and executed the transaction:
    Company Code
    Plant
    Excise Group
    Posting Date
Selected " List Based on Part2 Number"
    After executing the transaction,
I selected the relevant Line Item and Clicked on "Transfer Credit" button. The "Save" button was grey. So, I could not click on that button.
The system displayed the message "Accounting Documents and Part 2 entries created. SERIAL NO:=1000000005
But when I checked the GL A/c for Cenvat on Hold, no accounting entry was posted credititng the account.
In J2I9, the initial creidt of 50% is only being displayed in the transferor plant.
    Please advice.
Secondly, please let me know the transaction I should use for Excise Duty payment in the Transferor Plant while transfering the asset.
    Please advice.
    Thank You Very Much,
    Srinivas A

  • Excise invoice for Stock Transfer from Mfg. Plant to excisable Depot

    Hi Experts,
Which tcode (j1iin or j1is) should be used for creating excise invoice in mfg. plant for transfer the goods to exciseable depot and why.
And if we procure the material in mfg. plant and transferring the procured material to excisable depot then how can we map or assign incoming excise invoice to outgoing excise invoice so that same duty can be transferred.
Thanks in advance and points on satisfying answers.

    Hi There
we will be using J1IIN for the transfer for the simple reason that you cannot move the goods from the manuefacturing plant without paying the excise duty.
regarding your second query I am unable to understand your exact requirement but as per my understanding you will do the good receipt and CENVAT will be credited and outgoing or stock transfer will happen as the regular process afterwards by debiting the excise duty from the CENVAT account
    Hope this will help
