Play Edge animation only once

I have created an animation in Edge Animate, and placed it in the middle of a page in Muse and applied the Edge Animate scroll effect.
The animation works nicely, but it repeats over and over as I scroll. I only want the animation to play ONCE.
I tried coding a STOP ALL action on the final frame, but that seems to be ignored by Muse.
I even tried extending the end of the animation, and jumping back so it would sit and loop on the final frame ad infinity... that too seems to be ignored by Muse.
Is there really no way to only have an animation play once while scrolling?

SharedObject, using it to play an intro animation only once

Hi all,
Having some difficulty getting my sharedobject to operate.
All I am trying to do is have my intro animation play only once, so
that I can use the same swf on multiple pages without showing the
intro animation every time.
If the 3rd page was viewed first the intro animation would
play but then if the 2nd page was viewed the intro animation would
not play (because it was already played on page 3).

That would explain it.
I got around it by passing a variable through the querystring
to flash solution using some if statements.
But I also now have a difficulty doing it that way because of
this active content fix I am using, my post for that is here.

HTML website, SWF do a load animation only once. Same file used on all pages?

Hey all,
Just going through some thinking here. My HTML website is
going to using a flash header and navigation. Now I will be using
the same swf's on all of the pages across the site. I would like to
play a loading animation only on the first time the swfs are
loaded. Is there a way to do this? Or because I am using the same
swf's will it be okay to just tell my mc to go sit on a specific
frame and because it is in the cache each page will be using the
same file so the mc will still be at that frame or???
And help would be nice...

While Breqent is right that server side includes are the best way of doing this if you aren't up on
server side coding then you can use Dreamweaver to manage you menu.
You do this by simply ensuring you never edit the menu area on any individual page.
It should therefore be identical on all page and as such you can just use find and replace across the entire site or folder to edit all occurances of your menu.

I was hoping to play a small animation and launch the edge commons spotlight as soon as the animation ends.

The code launches the spotlight as the animation begins. I would like the 2 second animation to play out first before launching the spotlight.
Im sure the answer is really simple, though im new to JavaScript and am struggling to work out how to achieve this.

In a trigger at the end of my animation which has done the trick!
so:
1- I click on animation
2- it plays
3- then launches spotlight lightbox

Edge animation only plays when I arrive at the page from the next page

Hi Everyone, I'm really at my wit's end. Everythign was working fine Friday and then on Sunday, it just stopped.
I have several a 13 page Indesign CS6 file, one .OAM file per page. Page 1 plays fine, but when I advance to page 2, the box with the .OAM file flashes, then nothing. The rest of the pages play fine, but if I were to swipe to page 3, then back to page 2, page 2 now plays fine. But if I were to swipe from page 2 to page 1, page 1 does not play.
What's even more odd is any animation I move to page 2 will not play. So if I were to put a blank page as page 2, the non-working page 2 will now animate when it is moved to page 3.
This is an important job, is there a higher level of Adobe tech support I can subscribe to for 1 on 1 help?

Good point, Alistair. I've started rebuilding each page in a new InDesign document and things were going smoothly, until I reached the 8th page, which contains the 8th .OAM (there's one per page). Now, some animations have stopped displaying—same as my original problem. The similarity is while I had 13 pages built up in the original document, it started getting buggy once the 8th .OAM went in. Maybe I've reached the limit to what InDesign/DPS can handle? And once the glitch was set in, it didn't matter if I reduced the file down to 2 pages, the error remained.
Is it possible to divide up the document to two files, pages 1-7 and pages 8-13, then use DPS to combine them for the iPad?
I have plenty of RAM and hard drive space. 16GB RAM, 5 TB storage space, 470 GB internal.

page, the logo in the top left animates your first time in. After
that, it is static, even if you go to another page and come back to
the home page. Does anyone have any good suggestions on how to
accomplish this? I could do it with cookies, but I am wondering if
there is a better way. It's an asp page, so I could also pass a
variable in the URL string or the http header, but I'd like to
handle it entirely in Flash. I suppose I could do it if the flash
document can detect the refering page (not the page it's on, the
one the user just came from). Can flash do this? Any

How can I play multiple animations at once?

I'm trying to create a map using Illustrator for my graphics and Edge Animate for my animations. I want to have a hover effect where the state pops up and adds a shadow but will lay flat when you remove your mouse from that state. The problem that I can't seem to get around is the fact that when the mouse moves from one state to hover over another, that animation will automatically start playing and the mouse out on the first state will not play. I have the same problem with mousing out on a menu when you hover over another item.
Can anybody help with this?

I have a mouseover that I will use to bounce the state out and add a shadow to make it look like you just pulled it from the map. Then, I will have a mouseout event to reverse the mouse over event and drop it back into location. The problem that I'm speaking of will be when you go from one state to the next and it will stop the mouseout event to play the mouseover event of the next state.
Does this make sense?
Remember, I have not done this for this specific file. I did this on a menu that I created to try to get an animated drop down menu through Edge.

Play FBI Warning Only Once

In DVD Studio Pro, how do I have the "FBI Duplication Warning" play only upon disc insertion, but then to not play when I have viewers go to the "Main Menu" wherever they are on the disc? Each time "Menu" button is selected, it first plays the FBI Warning.
I realize its because I have that "FBI Warning" as first play, but since I went into the inspector I selected "Main Menu" for the Remote Control Buttons. I thought that would take care of it.
Any way around it?

I appreciate your help. I've authored a ton of DVDs, but not one with this issue. I have DVD Studio Pro version 4.2.2.
In the Disc Inspector with the General tab/Remote Control, I have my "Main Menu" selected for all three: Title / Menu / Return. I assume that way when people use these buttons on their remote they'll be brought to the "Main Menu".
My FBI Duplication Warning was made as a track and is the first play. Within this track's Inspector is the General tab/Remote Control and I have "Same as Disc" set for all Remote Control options.
Please clarify the direction you think I should take.
When a person selects "Title" they go to the main menu, but the client wants the "Menu" button to work this way and not have to view the duplication warning. Thank you.

Animated gif plays only once

I am using Captivate 5.5 on a Windows machine. I inserted an animated gif into my Captivate, using insert > animation... Then, I inserted a button. When I pressed F4 to preview the animation, it played only once. I put a check mark on the loop on the timing of the properties of the animation. Still, it played only once. It stopped when the play head stoped moving. I cannot make the animated gif play continuously. Does anybody know how to make the animated gif play continuously?

You can try this:
Stick this in the header area of your code

Yopu can rename "buylink", but you have to make sure you rename all instances or it will kill the script.
If you're not comfortable incorporating that, unfortunately, the other option would be to create a Flash animation and put a button in the last frame.
That would be just as difficult (if not worse) as writing (or tweaking) a javascript to delay the hotspot, and even worse because it would be invisible to phone users. Additionally, people who disable javascript would never see the link if you did add the script.
There isn't any way to do this with HTML or CSS, and you now know the flaws with the methods that will work.

Edge Animation plays only after page refresh in Firefox

There is an issue with animation playback in Firefox (I have the newest version - 27.0) - it works only after page reload or if you go to another page and come back to the home page.
I've saved Edge animation as .oam package and placed into Muse. My animation is floating clouds right above roof on homepage.
When I open html generated by Edge Animate in Firefox it works perfectly at once.
Please help!

Same FF version here, your page loads fine here, upon first visit and subsequent visits.
Have you tried clearing out browser cache; restart FF then reload/revisit your page.

Making symbol play only once

Hello,
I am new to Adobe Edge and I wonder if I can make my symbol play only once on mouseover. I want a picture to appear only when mouse finds it and stay there (I made a symbol in which there's animation of picture appearing from white). Now I only managed to make it appear when it's mouse over, but when my mouse is over the same area again, it plays over again and looks like blinking.

You might also want to try using mouseenter instead of mouseover. Mouseover also fires when you move the mouse, so you'll get some hiccuping/flickering as you mentioned.

How can I allow a user to control my Edge Animation using only the scrollbar?

I have seen a few examples of an Edge Animation being conrolled by the scrollbar, and I am wondering how I could achieve the same effect.

I have searched the corners of the internet and have found 2 or 3 different tutorials, but none of them have proven successful.
In basic terms, I am creating an animation that involves a character getting from Point A to Point B, from the beginning of my timeline to the end.
Rather than exporting my animation so that it plays automatically, by itself, I would like for a user to scroll vertically, and the playing of the animation moves in conjunction with the scroll bar.
As the user scrolls from top to bottom on the scrollbar, the character in my animation moves from Point A to Point B.
Also, if the user stops scrolling... the character will stop moving as well.
In addition, I would like the surrounding area, outside of my stage, to remain hidden. I do not want to allow the user the ability to scroll around and see off of my designated stage area. I only want the scroll bar to act as a playhead for the animation.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Never mind. I figured it out myself. I changed the myComp.play("scenefour"); to myComp.getStage().play("scenefour"); and it worked fine.

Adobe edge animation not playing properly on Google Chrome

i've just noticed that the edge animation plays the beginning of the animation then disappears completely except for a font here and there on Google Chrome.
it plays perfectly across all the other browsers. any idea what is going on here.
there is nothing nested. it is a straight time line. i am building it on a mac osX 10.9.4

DISCOVERY the reason adobe edge animation and google don't play well together is because if you use any sort of filter on your typography this will not appear on the chrome browser. sad but true. once i removed all the blur filters off my animations they started playing perfectly on chrome. this is too bad in that chrome is the largest used browser out there. thank you Redesign for your suggestion.

Why won't my Edge animation play in DPS?

I've created a very simple animation of svg elements fading from 0-100% opacity (no code) in Adobe Edge. When I import it into folio (set for for iPad) the animation would not play. When I preview it on desktop, I would only see the poster image and then quickly fade to white. From what I've read in one of the other forums, I have the Edge animation set up for retina (2048x1536), and then in InDesign: 1024, in folio: 2048; however, still no luck. I published the animation for Animate Deployment Package (oam), really can't think of anything else that might have gone wrong...

Thank you so much for for your help, I was able to download the zip file. As it turns out I wasn't using the latest edge animate and indesign. After updating everything, as well as downloading the DPS destop tool kit http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=5571 I tried to open the file you sent me. I got the error message: An error has occured while generating article preview. Could not find the adobe content viewer. So I tried to download the content viewer again but still, same message. I really can't figure out why...
