Please help - What software would be useful? (not sure im in the right category here)
Hi guys,
I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction regarding the following. I am studying abrasive particles and have many SEM still images of particles ranging from 10-120 microns. I am looking for some software that will allow me to easily calculate various properties relating to the particle, such as size, geometry, area ect - or anything really that might be of use to allow me to compare one particle with another.
1) Is there certain features which may be useful to know when it comes to comparing abrasive particles?
2) Is there simple software available that would be suitable (i was recommended a program called SIGMAscan but this seems perhaps too much of an investment at around $900 for what i need it for).

No, you are not on the correct board. Measure is an add-on for Excel.
NI sells a Vision Development Module and Vision Builder but both are considerably more than $900. Questions about either should be posted to the Machine Vision board.

I am a beginner, only recently started Java a couple of weeks ago. For an assignment at uni, I need to create a simple program which allows the user to enter a row number, 5 7, or 9, and depending on the number of row they select, display the letter H and U. (hope that makes sense).
We need to use several different types of techniques, selection, interaction, loops and methods. I have used all four techniques, but would like to improve the use of the techniques available. One way for me to do this is using a method, i.e. void print_h(), to let the reader know that this piece of code prints the letter h. I've put this method in, above my switch method, but for some reason displays a blank screen. Is this because I have closed the main method? or because I have written the method in correctly?
I would really reallty appreciate any help...I need to hand this in this week..been working on it a few days now, and I really don't know where I am going wrong.

I have accidently deleted safari from my iphone and can't find it to put it back. I did it ages ago as I didn't know what it was and I was trying to create extra space! Now when I click on a link say in an email, it doesn't come up with a browser. I have looked at the apple site but can only see a download for mac users. Not sure if this is the case because it is preinstalled on the iphone.

Need some help on Software Installation... not sure what is going on!!
OK... this should not be an issue and should be fairly straight forward. Having only been in the Mac world for a few months... I am still learning.
I purchased Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac... got it in today... thought I would just pop it in... go through a simple install... but no. Now let me say that I did download and run a demo version of this same software a month ago. Ran out of time and thought I had removed everything... but something is not right.
This is the message I get...

I have looked everywhere for the Setup Log files and don't have a clue where it is... used finder and spotlight. I don't understand the term incompatible payload.

RonnieUsually an Uninstaller does not have to be in a particular location to do its job. It knows the pathway to the files it is scheduled to remove. Download the uninstaller from Adobe and try running it from the Finder.
If for some reason that fails I would do two things. First download and install the trial or demo again. Then run the uninstaller. That should remove all vestiges of the demo.
I would also run the uninstaller, if there is one, for the purchased version and then do a fresh install. If there is no uninstaller for the full purchased version I would install it again over your first install to make sure any corruptions have been replaced with a fresh install. -

I have a ASA5505(base model) that my sales rep said would do what I need, but after trying to set it up I think I either need upgrades or a different product.
Allow me to explain what I'm trying to do and then hopefully someone will be able to advise. (note: I'm not super experienced with cisco gear, and will most likely be using the config gui software to setup and manage the device unless forced to use the shell.)
I have a /28 IP range from my isp, of which I'm trying to use 7 IPs, we'll say xxx.xxx.xxx.xx1 - .xx7
Behind the firewall is a Hyper-v server with multiple customer VMs on it. Each customer has a private NIC and a distinct subnet 192.168.1.x - 192.168.7.x
Each IP is connected to different internal network and needs to provide its own port forwarding rules as well as site-to-site vpn to that internal network. there will generally only be 1-2 devices on each internal network but they need to be segregated as they belong to different customers.
xxx.xxx.xxx.xx1 -->nat to --> 192.168.1.x with port forwarding and s2s vpn
xxx.xxx.xxx.xx2 -->nat to --> 192.168.2.x with port forwarding and s2s vpn
etc
The server is in the same rack as the firewall and is directly patched, so there is no trunking or switching concerns.
I get the feeling I'm either reinventing the wheel here or missing an obvious solution, but what I was trying to do was make 7 internal interfaces, (1 per switch port and assign each to be the gateway for its subnet, This looked great until I ran into a licence restriction, so here I am.
The above is my ideal situation, as each customer needs site to site vpn, and privacy. The cost is a factor, so I'm ok with paying for additional options on this unit, or buying another small product, but I'm not interested in spending 10k+ on some massive enterprise unit just to get 7 customers on 1 box.

If you use a trunk, you can configure up to 20 VLANs. The Security Plus license (ASA5505-SEC-PL=) is necessary. "show version" will tell you whether you have the Base or Security Plus license.

I'm not sure I'm in the right category here...
...but my iMac has a strange audio clip that plays randomly. It is totally spontaneous and unpredictable. As i do an action the audio file plays and if I try to repeat it, I can't. Is there a way to locate this file somewhere on the drive and delete it? Thanks out there.
...i've een unsuccessful in repeating the action that triggers the audio clip...it is completely random(in so far as perception goes,if a mathematical equation was put to it we may get more consistency in predicting the action) I never know when it will play...and it lasts so briefly that I've not time to catch it and have not been able to pinpoint it with CONSOLE messages. Thanks for responding.

You keep it on the usb stick for after you boot into Windows. From Windows you install the Windows Support software on the stick. Do you realize that you need to buy and install Windows? The Windows Support software you downloaded is only the Windows drivers for your hardware.

Please help me. My Apple id not be used in iCloud. After sign in, to iCloud, I have error massage: This Apple ID cannot be used to sign in to iCloud. Create a new Apple ID or sign in with a different one.
For whatever reasons, the "None" option is not always available to all users and I think it may be related to what country you live in. Short of contacting Apple to get it straightened out, if you haven't done anything with your new ID ye - you can create an Apple ID without a credit card and simply abandon the one that you just created.

The two big things that you have to remember for this to work are ... you have to sign out of your existing Apple ID .... Settings>Store>Apple ID - tap the ID and sign out. Then you have to try to download a free app to bring up the window that asks you to sign in or create an ID. Read the information on the website that I referenced above.
If you have not used the original Apple ID for anything yet, you can simply ignore it and use the new one - or like I said earlier - contact iTunes support and ask them to help you sort it out.

Contrary to what Geeks on Hugs is telling you, Mac OS X does indeed have a basic malware scanner. It is not a feature that is directly accessible to the user, and works a bit differently than every other malware scanner out there. Gatekeeper, which has been mentioned here, is entirely separate, and provides a different method for helping to protect you against malware.
The anti-malware scanner in Mac OS X is called XProtect. When you download an application (or any other kind of executable code), it is automatically "quarantined," so that when you open it you're asked if you really want to do that. I'm sure you're very familiar with this aspect of Mac OS X if you have ever downloaded any apps from outside the App Store. What you don't know, though, is that each time you try to open a new app, that app is checked by XProtect. If it is identified as malware, you will not be allowed to open it, and will be warned that it's malware.
At this time, there is no known malware that can infect a properly up-to-date Mac. All current malware will be blocked by one or more methods.

If your account is disabled you might be able to re-enable it via this page : http://appleid.apple.com, then 'reset your password'
You might then need to log out of your account on your iPhone and iPad by tapping on your id in Settings > iTunes & App Storeand then log back in so as to 'refresh' the account on it.
For your security questions, if you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) on your account then the steps half-way down this page will give you a reset link on your account : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5312
If you don't have a rescue email address then you will need to contact Support in your country to get the questions reset.
