Please help with the FOR loop and the array..

I was trying to place some words in the Movie Clip
"TextPanel" and set a
random position to each of them.
But it's not working.
1) I created a Movie Clip "word" and inside that MC I created
a text field
and gave it an identifier "textFiled".
2) The linkage name for Movie Clip "word" I set to "word".
3) In the actionscript I created an Array called "aWords".
4) Then I created a FOR loop that should
place (attach) Movie Clips "word0", "word1", "word2" and
"word3" to the
movie clip TextPanel, and set the textField text for each of
them to the
text from the Array.
But the script attaches 4 Movie Clips with a name
"Undefined", instead of 4
different names (from the Array).
What is wrong with this script?
var aWords:Array = [apple,banana,orange,mango];
for(i=0;i<aWords.length;i++){
var v = TextPanel.attachMovie("word","word"+i,i);
v.textFiled.text = aWords
v._x = randomNumber(0,Stage.width);
v._y = randomNumber(0,Stage.height);
Thanks in advance

But in my Post I already wrote v.textFiled.text = aWords
so I don't understand what were you correcting..
And one more:
I have tested it by changing the
v.textFiled.text = aWords; to v.textFiled.text = "some
word";
and it's working fine.
So there is something wrong with the Array element, and I
don't know why..

    Inbound.getTime() is a static method of your Inbound class, that always returns the same value, I presume? As opposed to each of the 25 members of your array in, which have individual values?

  • Help with a FOR loop and an object array

    I need to make a for loop that takes an array of objects that contain the parameters year, type, and model (all ints) and sort by year, then divide the array in all the objects with the same year and sort them by type, then divide the array again into the objects with the same year AND type and sort them by model.
    the object a Dress objects, the get methods are get+nameof parameter.
    the array is a 1D array called Dresses.
    I have made a paralell array to store the value of the parameters and sort that then move the array acording to that sorted array. The problem is in the division of the array.

    We'll give your request to do (or finish) your homework for you the attention it deserves.

  • Need help with a for loop

    Hi all
    I have a dir that has a list of folders that are created using php that my customers upload to. the PHP creates a new folder using the system date on the days that they upload. (using this format yyyymmdd)
    What I am trying to do is loop thou the folders and get todays folder and list the files that are in todays folder. I have been able to do this up to the point of if a customer folder does not have a folder called todays date.
    I know I need some sort of try / catch but don't know what.
    Can anyone help me please
    Thanks for you time and help in advance
    Craig
      public void getfolderList() {
        File dir = new File("/Users/craig/Documents/jBuilder_Epod/copy");
        File[] getFolderNames = dir.listFiles();
        if (getFolderNames != null) {
          for (int gf = 0; gf < getFolderNames.length; gf++) {
            String store = "" + getFolderNames[gf];
            if (!store.endsWith(".DS_Store")) { // This is a mac file name Only
              String folderName = "" + getFolderNames[gf];
              if (!store.endsWith(".DS_Store")) { // This is a mac file name Only
                //I need to have some sort of try and Catch here.
                // If there is no Folder called "todaysFileName" I need to go to the next folder
                //i.e. stop the for loop and go to next
                String setTodaysFileName = folderName + "/";
                String todaysFileName = setTodaysFileName + systemDate;
                File todaysFolder = new File(todaysFileName);
                File[] todaysFiles = todaysFolder.listFiles();
                for (int td = 0; td < todaysFiles.length; td++) {
                  todaysFileName = "" + todaysFiles[td];
                  System.out.println("There is no folder Today........" +
                                     todaysFileName);
      }

    A quick guess would be that after the sStatement
      File[] todaysFiles = todaysFolder.listFiles();todaysFiles is null if todaysFolder doesn't exist and you get a NullPointerException when trying to access todaysFiles.length in the following for-loop.
    If that doesn't help, please be a bit more precise what kind of Exception occurs...

  • Please help with "You can't open the application NovamediaDiskSupressor because PowerPC applications are no longer supported." I have seen other responses on this but am not a techie and would not know how to start with that solution.

    Please help with the message I am receving on startup ""You can't open the application NovamediaDiskSupressor because PowerPC applications are no longer supported."
    I have read some of the replies in the Apple Support Communities, but as I am no techie, I would have no idea how I would implement that solution.
    Please help with what I need to type, how, where, etc.
    Many thanks
    AppleSueIn HunterCreek

    I am afraid there is no solution.
    PowerPC refers to the processing chip used by Apple before they transferred to Intel chips. They are very different, and applications written only for PPC Macs cannot work on a Mac running Lion.
    You could contact the developers to see if they have an updated version in the pipeline.

  • Please help with correcting calling class and method errors

    Hi All,
    I have created a game (like battleship) for 2 tanks. I can't seem to connect the classes and methods to get the values for the last die face rolled; last direction rolled on a 4 headed dice; the x and y position for each tank; the armour value and the firePower (or hit value) to print.

  • Please help with workflow - iMovie '08 and Panasonic HDC-SD1

    My two teenage sons play high school basketball and I've been videotaping their games using our new Panasonic SD1. Picture quality is terrific, but I've been taken aback by how much time it takes to get the footage from the camera into iMovie and then how long it takes to burn a DVD from that iMovie file. I'm hoping I'm doing something wrong and that there's a quicker way to get the job done.
    The kids play four periods and I've been stopping and starting the camera in between, so I end up with four separate files on the SD card. Total time is usually an hour and change.
    Okay here's the workflow from there:
    ~ When I get back to my iMac (2.16 Core 2 Duo with 3GB of RAM) I place the SD card in a card reader and import the four files into iMovie from there. Importing the hours' worth of video takes a couple of hours.
    ~ I then make one project with all four files for export to iTunes so the boys can watch on our Apple TV. Exporting, using the "large" format takes another couple of hours.
    ~ I then use the same exported file to make a DVD for the coach using iDVD. That process takes more than three hours.
    I'd actually like to split out the four quarters of the game into separate menu items on the DVD. My thought was to make each quarter a different iMovie project, but it looks like I can't queue the four exports so I'd have to stay close to the computer to do them individually.
    Thanks in advance for the help.
    ...Barry

    If you only have 1 file per quarter, one obvious thing to do would be to edit out the time in between plays, the time-outs, and the like. That is easily done in iMovie.
    Having said that, importing (and exporting) in high definition takes time, and your times do not seem unreasonable.

  • Please help with restoring different apps and their data between 2 iPads

    I just bought a new iPad Air 2 . I currently have 2 iPads, 1st gen and iPad 2nd, each with its own set of apps and their data. I backed up each older iPad manually as  a full backup. I created a separate library for one of them when doing this. Now I want to transfer iPad 1st gen apps and data to iPad 2nd, so I reset iPad 2nd to factory and then restored from the manual back up of the iPad 1st gen and it seems to work fine. Before that I had backed up iPad 2nd's current data. So now I now I want to transfer the iPad 2nd apps and data to the new iPad Air. I selected the backup by the time stamp that I had backed up iPad 2nd. I didn't know how to rename each iPad to something unique. It restored from backup, but it's all the apps and data from my iPad 1st gen backup, not iPad 2nd.
    I'm utterly confused. Even when I have the separate iTunes library open it shows all the manual backups I performed, so it's not truly a separate library. Do I need to manually install/remove the various apps on the newer iPad?

    This is a project about projectiles.it is an animation of a cannonball being fired from a cannon and travelling under the effect of gravity.A cannon fired at angle 'a' to the horizontal and with an initial speed 's', will have an initial velocity given by:

    if the cannon ball land in the bucket it should stop and the animation should indicate a 'hit' in some way. maybe by displaying a message.
    if the cannonball hits the outside of the bucket it should bounce off.
    Extra Notes.
    1) The acceleration due to gravity is 9.8m/s to the (power of (2) eg s2.
    2) The distance travelled in time t by a body with initial velocity v under constant acceleration a is:
    v * t + a * t.pow(2) div 2;
    The velocity at the end of time t will be v + a * t.
    Distance is measure in pixels rather than meter so for simplicity we use 1 pixel per meter
    When i pressed the fire button nothings happens. I'm going crazy. Please please help!

  • Please Help with Physics Project Here are the codings

    I've got three(3) classes a Model, a view, and a controller.
    This is a project about projectiles.it is an animation of a cannonball being fired from a cannon and travelling under the effect of gravity.A cannon fired at angle 'a' to the horizontal and with an initial speed 's', will have an initial velocity given by:
    vx := s * cos(a);//velocity x equals the speed multiply by the cosine of angle a.
    vy := s * sin(a);//velocity y equals the speed multiply by the sine of angle a.

    Extra Notes.
    1) The acceleration due to gravity is 9.8m/s to the (power of (2) eg s2.
    2) The distance travelled in time t by a body with initial velocity v under constant acceleration a is:
    v * t + a * t.pow(2) div 2;
    The velocity at the end of time t will be v + a * t.
    Distance is measure in pixels rather than meter so for simplicity we use 1 pixel per meter
    When i pressed the fire button nothings happens. I'm going crazy. Please please help!

    Hi,
    U put something on forum and keeping silence.If it is not necessary dont put in forum.I moved your cannon ball.If u want continous movement I need some more information.

  • Please help with reinstalling Windows 8 on the U410 touch!

    Hello,
    I've recently dropped my U410 touch laptop from a small height, but it landed unfortunately and the hard drive was running, which eventually lead to its failure. After getting this hard drive replaced, I ordered the recovery disks in order to reinstall the Windows 8 OS on my machine.
    Here is the problem I encountered: the U410 touch does not have a CD drive and thus I cannot insert the recovery disks in the device. I have access to my old laptop and I have been trying for the past few days to connect the two, ( with an Ethernet cable) in order  to be able  to use the CD drive of my old laptop.
    What I have done already:
    - repaired my hard drive
    - allowed access privileges to everyone on my old laptop CD drive
    -recovered the Lenovo recovery disk for my specific model and Windows OS
    - tried numerous times ( to no avail) to get the cd working for my new laptop
    What I would really appreciate help with:
    - instructions how to connect my old CD drive to my newer laptop
    - launch the recovery sequence from the CD drive of my old laptop
    Any help would be really appreciated,
    I am quite lost with this.
    Thank you, for your time.

  • Help with Managing sub accounts and The page isn't redirecting properly

    Anytime I try to make a new sub account, and I click on "Sub Accounts" I get this error:
    The page isn't redirecting properly
    Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete.
        *   This problem can sometimes be caused by disabling or refusing to accept

    Before you ask, I'm a bit of a PC geek, I tried in both FF and IE8, same result, checked cookie settings, and they are NOT disabled etc.
    Any ideas?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Cookies are normal. The only exceptions are for SU.
    I found a way to manage the sub accounts. Through Yahoo. Which is completely asinine. Why do I have to go to Yahoo's page when IT'S RIGHT IN MY VERIZON!?
    I wish I could "unbrand" my dsl service.

  • Need help with basic "for" loops!

    Here is my prompt for class:
    Write a program that prompts the user to enter a sentence from the keyboard using JOptionPane.showInputDialog.
    The program will print the characters back with the first letter of each word changed from lower case into upper case. If you have a capital letter in the original line and it is not the first letter of a word, then this letter should be switched from upper case to lower case. The only capital letters that should appear in the line must be the beginning letter of every word in the line. All other characters will remain the same.
    I figured everything out except for one part. How do I make the first letter of each word change from lower case into uppercase? How do I switch a letter that is uppercase in the middle of a word to lowercase? Last but not least, how do I make sure that the only capital letters in the sentence are the first letter of each word?
    I need to do this using for Loops, charAt(), and if/else statements because this is just an intro class. I just can't figure this last part out! Help please!

    String words = ...;
    StringBuilder builder = new StringBuilder();
    for (int i = 0; i < words.length; i++) {
    char c = words.charAt(i);
    boolean isUpper = Character.?(look up the methods in java.lang.Character)
    boolean isLetter = ? (there are actually 2 ways to do this. Hint: you can use <= and >= and && to solve this)
    if (!isLetter) {
    continue;
    } else {
    // check if this is the start of the word. How do you know that you are at the start of a word?
    if (!isUpper && isStartOfTheWord) c = Character.toUpperCase(c); //Hint: there is a way you can do this with x + y
    else if (isUpper) //make c lower case
    builder.append(c);
    return builder.toString();

  • Please help with update for ios 8.1.3

    Some one PLEASE HELP ME!!!  I just updated my I phone 4s to ios 8.1.3 it was taking a long time then they finally updated and had the Hello screen after that I saw my photos then they would just delete it right in front of me I also lost some of my contacts but my notes still here can someone please help me find my photos are very important to me they have pictures of my relatives who passed away please help!!!

    After 4+ months of dealing with this data usage and battery drain problem that included 3 data captures of my wife's iMac, the trigger for us regarding the problems syncing with iCloud, and 5 hours of logs off my iPhone 6 to be analyzed by Apple engineers that included times my wife's computer was both on and off to demonstrate the difference in data usage and battery drain under those conditions, I can say with very reasonable certainty that the iOS 8.3 and corresponding Mac OS 10.10.3 update has solved the problem.
    We have now been running for about 2 weeks and data usage with the iCloud Servers attempting to sync has dropped from a rate of 31 GBs to under 15 MBs per month.  Yes, you read it right.  We were burning 2000 times as much data doing absolutely nothing important on both of our phones, a 5s and a 6.  Just imagine what that does to battery life!  The 5s would last about 5 hours and the 6 was dead in less than 14.
    The distasteful aspect of this process was how the engineers were quietly fixing the problem at the same time sending messages to my contact person within Apple that were dismissive in nature in the face of indisputable unreasonable results. I must say, this experience with the multiple times the engineers' responses were inappropriate put a little tarnish on the old Apple shine of the ‘It just works’ mantra. This was my first experience in 34 years that caused me to stop recommending Apple products without reservations and with a disclaimer.
    Since the update solved the problem, then I can only conclude that there was a logic bug regarding the reaction within the process to the incoming data that was corrected.  There was noting short of logging out of iCloud that circumvented the problem for us, Gator5000e and probably many others noted on other threads.  I am not trying to imply that this is the cause of everyones battery use problem, but it is reasonable that it was a cause for many.
