Plug-Ins in a delay feedback-loop
I would like to set plug-Ins in a feedback loop from a delay plug-In
maybe in a simalar way like this:
from a audio track "send", i route the send signal in a delay. the delay output goes after in other plugins (filter, reverb, pitch shifter) and comes back in the delay input, but only maybe maybe 20%-30% of the output volume.
Does anybody know how to do this routing?
Admittedly, I had not tried the routing I had posted. I was just "thinking it through"... evidentially, not very well...
I knew I'd read multiple posts over at Sonikmatter about this sort of thing. Here's the first one I came across doing a quick search:

See if that gets you closer to what you had in mind...

Red exclamation points over plug ins!
My previously recorded tracks now won't play back and there are little red circles with exclamation points on the plug ins( like the delay and compressor etc. plug ins)? how do I get rid of these? I'm using Logic Pro X HELP

Audio delay problem when using UAD plug ins on aux track
HI there,
I've been trying to route my drum tracks to bus 1, then send bus 1 to the aux 1 track also and apply UAD compression plug ins to it to mimick the NYC parallel compression technique.
But, when I do this, and add one of the UAD plug ins to the aux 1 track, the audio on that track becomes noticeably delayed by a few ms and you hear a kind of phasing/flamming sound as the bus 1 and aux 1 track combine slighlty out of sync. However, if i use logic's own compressors on the aux track there is no delay notivceable and it works fine.
frustrating as i'd like to be able to use the 1176 or lA2A on the drum track on the aux bus!!
any ideas?
J Ceetry this setting
I suppose that you need software monitoring for use Logic Compressor and reverbs in live monitoring mode
the setting is
Sample buffer 256 or 128
PDC set to Audio And Software Instrument...
this set if very good
I always use that with UAD plugins in Live mode on my professional studio
No latency at ALL
when Mixing set the buffer at 1024 and PDC to all...
this set is very important only in th Mixing Phase
feel free to ask for more advice

Can I use 3rd party instruments/plug-ins/loops with Garageband '11 running OS X 10.6.8? and how do I install?
10.6.8 won't run on a PowerPC Mac.
10.6.8 also won't run the latest Java. Here's what version of Java you can run:

Cant change plug ins parameters there in black....help!!!
i bought logic 7 when i was at uni, then my brother bought logic 8 he did not use it n said i could have it. i loaded it up onto my mac (logic 7 was already installed) and logic is ok but when i want to use any of logics factory plug ins they come up in a transparent black box. i can change the sounds but not the parameters on them?? infact the only plug in that works is the stereo delay....strange!!!
i look forward to hearing from any1, im desperateOkay. Well plugins are the little subprograms that you insert as effects in the signal path (reverbs, EQ's, compressors, etc etc). Software Instruments are also plugins, though they do not modify a signal, but create one (generally). Loops are just short pieces of audio, and they are not referred to as plugins. What I understand (hadn't heard of them 'till now) is that Puremagnetic are samplepacks, which you can load in a variety of Software Samplers (=a specific type of software instrument). The samplepacks themselves are not plugins either, they have to be loaded by a Software sampler, such as the EXS24.
To get a grasp of the basics and thus know a little bit more what you are doing I advise you to open the LP8 User Manual.pdf, the Getting Started Guide.pdf and the LS Intruments and Effects Guide.pdf. You can use the little Spotlight search field top right to look for certain keywords. To understand the basics however, you should really read the (whole) Getting Started Guide and the first four chapters of the LP8 User Manual. Because if you don't know what you are doing you will probably not get very far...
So how have you used the Puremagnetik samplepacks before?

Plug-ins you can't live without
What are your favorite third party plug-in? I'm looking for drum machine, synth, and sampler recommendations for use on an Intel Mac with Logic. With my old powerbook and Logic 4.8.2 I was using mostly hardware. Now with the new Macbook Pro I'd like to get into using more plug-ins, but i don't have much experience with them and their integration into Logic. I was considering the Native Instruments stuff, Battery, Absynth etc... if anyone can comment on the quality and integration. Also, any more obscure gems out there you can recommend would be great. I'd really like something that can do what a Elektron Machinedrum can do in software. Or maybe a good 909 or 303 emulator?

what kind of music do you make? helps to know, different things are good for different styles of music.
anyway, a couple of things I'd rather not live without, in no particular order are:
ohmboys delay.
I find the delays in logic to be really creatively lacking and just plain average. the tape delay sounds authentic and all, but it kind of just does the one thing, and frankly I can pick it whenever I hear it in anything nowadays. ohmboys delay gives you a lot more colour and a lot more ways to create a bit of mayhem. and then it also has that awesome loop button, which is fantastic for controlling the madness and using it in musical ways. it's my go-to delay for when I'm working on remixes.
UAD card.
on my G5 system I have a UAD card with all the plug ins enabled. I'd have to say that it's a keeper as well. I miss those plug ins on my MBP setup, but I don't think I miss them enough that I'll buy one of those portable units that UA are releasing. frankly I think I'll replace the concept of the UAD on my portable machine with URS plug ins, or maybe a liquid mix later on.. much more bang for the buck, and really for me the only plug ins that I use all the time on the UAD are the dynamics and EQ ones, 1176, LA2A, pultec, neve.. and also the plate reverb.. but maybe I'll make space designer impulses of that and see how that goes.
melodyne plug in.
not much to say about this, it's just so good at what it does and so dang useful. I think with few exceptions, most users should have it.
sonalksis EQs and comps.
hard to get super super excited about these, but they're just really good and really solid. you can tell that there's good quality design inside these things, right down to no latency operation and just good reliable results. I use them all the time on my MBP setup cos I don't have many good EQs and comps on that machine, and they are by far the best I have.
ivory piano.
I love the intimate sound I can get from this plug in. a lot of people rave about NI akoustic piano and how much better it is. I can't say, but I love ivory for the piano sounds I usually want to go for.
ohmforce symptohm melohman.
I just love looking at the interface of this thing.. it's like looking at a comic or a zine, with touches of manga. also, I think it's a pretty underrated synth. it makes some beautiful, bizarre harmonic resonant sounds, and also some solid punchy sounds too. not everyone is using it, so it brings something unique to things, when everybody else's idea of unique is absynth..
reaktor.
I doubt I'll ever fully and deeply get into reaktor. but when I need to go off on a trek to make soundscapes or I feel the need to try and bring some randomness to a track, I'll often spend some time going through my reaktor ensembles to see what happens.
URS neve channel EQs.
I think these are lovely. used them a lot on a film score once, to bring out the grain and sizzle in some sculpture sounds I made. they are also great for rolling off bottom end and driving the midrange in sounds, to bring out a great presence. very very good for shaping your sounds into main characters in a mix. -
Plug-ins and Virtual Instruments
Can someone explain to me a little bit about plug-ins and virtual instruments. Namely ones that are compatible with logic express 8. I see the ads for them all the time but don't know much about them. What's good... What's bad... Can I use them in LE8. I was looking at SyntAX. How user friendly are they or should I stick with what I know... Namely Midi Instruments and Loops?
syntAX says it's compatible with Logic... Does that mean it's also compatible with LE8? I'd like to get some feedback before I shell out $199 for the plug-in.
Help!! Thanks!!Ok. Thanks! But can someone give me feedback on the usage of them? (Especially syntAX)
It states it's compatible with logic but doesn't actually state .AU ready. Will I need a wrapper of some sort to use this plug-in? The only plug-ins I really use in LE8 at this point are ESX24 and the FX. I have tons of apple loops but never really looked into using VIs in Logic. I tried using a few that come with LE8 (namely AMGs One) but it doesn't work properly as it can't find certain files.
Any one with advice on some good Logic compatible plugins? -
Does anyone know if it is possible to move plug-in windows in Logic X to other spaces (desktops) with Mission Control? I was hoping to get a setup like in Reason where one screen has the mixer panel, another has the rack, and another has the sequencer panel. When I open a plug-in (Battery in this case), it can be moved to another space, but when I open that space and click on Battery's plug-in window, Logic's gui slides back over and they are both showing. Does anyone know what I'm talking about and have a solution?

DONEHi,
This is a problem that is not made clear in the note. What is probably happening here is that both plugins are being fired when a user logs in. OID will only read the value returned from the final plugin to fire. This can be a problem if the user authenticates correctly against the first plug-in but fails on the second. This is entirely legitimate as this note tells you to configure this way but the OID only observes the final result. The note doesn't tell us this.
Here's an example:
We've two OID User users in different containers: cn=Al is in container cn=usersA,dc=oracle,dc=com and cn=BOB is in container cn=usersB,dc=oracle,dc=com.
We have two plugins: pluginA and PluginB. Installed in that order.
When Al logs in the two plugins fire. pluginA finds Al and returns a true, but then pluginB fires and returns a false undoing the good result. OID only accepts the final answer and so rejects the user. When Bob logins in both plugins fire again but it's the second plugin that returns the answer again. This is true and bob gets in.
There's a couple of ways around this and one of the more effective ways is to associate the plugin with the dn. So in our example, we associate the pluginA to fire only for the dn cn=usersA,dc=oracle,dc=com and pluginB only to fire when a user is in cn=usersB,dc=oracle,dc=com. This gets around the problem of mulitple plugins firing and giving conflicting answers as the appropriate plugin only fires once.
I've used this solution in a realtime environment when connecting and provisioning multiple ADs into one OID and found it to be extremely effective.
Another solution is to associate the plugins with groups.
Both of these options may be configured easily by modifying the plugin properties in ODM. Don't forget to restart OID after you've made the changes.
HTH!
Phil.

Does this mean that I do not have ANY plug-ins or is there likely to be another cause.
I wish Apple paid attention...
On this Forum, Apple does not pay attention. This is a user to user forum.
For that exact reason, we have no ability to fix bugs in iTunes. You can however, report them directly to Apple:
http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunesapp.html
I see that you do not care for the workaround that I proposed, which is of course entirely up to you. -
How do I get my speakers to play the Apple TV? My TV is recognizing the Apple TV and the sound is playing out of the TV speakers, but even though I plug my speakers into my TV, it does not play what the TV speakers are playing. Do I have to plg the speakers into the actual Apple TV unit? If so, do I need an "optical audio" plug in?
appletv play audio out of optical out of hdmi and the old alu one play out the RCA too
the typical the white and red plug ins would be RCA if you have a atv2 (the black one) you cant use
RCA as that is analog and optical and hdmi are digital
you can get converters but some would be pricy and could cause delay between image and pictures for video -
The hp laptop running windows 7 seems to me to be running very strange and many programs have appeared that I did not download as if someone else is actually using it as a server. I am constantly changing passwords, updating plug-ins, software, using a wired ethernet linksys router wrt54g for my lan and still have problems with settings getting changed, programs not working , developer programs appearing, having to reboot, ad infinitum and now I am looking at my Firefox Plug-Ins and see RealJukebox NS, RealNetworks RealPlayer Chrome Background Extension, RealPlayer G2 LiveConnect-Enabled, RealPlayer Browser Record, and RealPlayer HTML5VideoShim not to mention the non-RealPlayer Plug-Ins. My question is do all of these exist and why would I have them when I did not install them. Also, would I need them for Windows 7 64 bit. Any information provided will be most appreciated. I'm about to quit and look for another hobby.
Frustrated in the MidwestHi,
Have you tried ping ip address of printer? and check if there exists any data lost in network connection. If your network connection is crowded, it can cause delay for printer.
Also, please attempt to disable all security software temporarily, such as antivirus, firewalls, etc and
clear all printer cache.
Locate to task manager, check the state of spoolsv.exe, including cpu and memory. If it has high cpu or memory usage, it may be caused by malware. Thus, you'd better to make a full scan with the latest anti-virus.

After activating "Click-to-play" plug-ins, I cannot open pdf files.
In the latest release of Firefox, information about how to prevent plug-ins from loading automatically was in the release notes. I activated this in about:config. (Click-to-play).
After that, I cannot open pdf files! When I click on a link all I get is an empty window. Reloading page don't help.
What I can do, is to click on the button next to the awesome bar and set that plug-ins will always load automatically for this page. Then the pdf file loads.
Another work around is to copy the link and paste it in IE.
Is this a bug with "click-to-play"?Thanks cor-el. I have read the various bug reports and it is indeed the same. Has been known for a while...
Anyway, I find no mention of the work-around: "Click on the button next to the awesome bar and set that plug-ins will always load automatically for this page."
I don't know if there is a place to give that feedback. -
Can you import software instruments and plug-ins from Logic Pro to GB
Hello,
I purchased Logic 7 Pro and I find it to be way too much for me. Is there a way to take the software instruments from Logic to GB? I am not even sure Logic comes with more software instruments than GB. Do they both rely on the Jam Packs for additional instruments.
Is there anything else GB can borrow from Logic. I know I can move the sound effects aif files and use them. Just wondering about other plug-ins and the like.
Thanks!!
Mac OS X (10.4.6)Here's how you get past the static interruption.
Make your software track and ignore the static interruption. Its not being recorded into the midi information.
Then export the track out and reimport it to a new track. Do this twice. Your export/import WILL have static in it but since it was random your two tracks will not have the static in identical places.
Edit out the static in track one by replacing it with a static-less portion from track two. You'll now have a complete loop with no static interruption.
xs4sis. The cool thing about the demos is you don't have to program anything just use the presets. Who CAN program those **** synths anyway?
There are some demos that have a hundred presets to them. I love that! -
I have two 3rd Party plug-ins (Slate Digital Trigger and IK Media Ampeg Bass Amps). Both will no longer work in the new GB 10.0. On top of that, my entire drum tracks are missing that were connected to Trigger plugin. GB stated that theese two will not work and suggested that I reload both. This DID NOT solve the problem for using the plugins and my drum tracks are still missing.
