How to track Service Item in Install Base

Hi,
How to track a Service Item in Install Base. If I'm right, when we define the item as Service Item in Inventory, Install Base Trackable cannot be enableed...
Scenario:
Customer is doing some services to its customer which has a contract for 1 Year. So we are creating service as Service Item in Inventory and then we create a contract for this service item.
How do we track this in Install Base?

Hi,
A service item by definition need not be tracked in IB. The service may be provided on a machine or asset which will be tracked in IB. Since service item is not a tangiable item, it is not IB trackable.
Kindly explain the business scenario to track the service item in IB.

Automatic creation of installed base?

Dear all,
We are using CRM 5.0
We are creating BOM for material in R3.
Line :10 --> Header level item
Line : 20 --> Parent item 1
Line : 30 --> Parent item 2.
Now as per standard When we are doing the delivery of any item in R3, A Installed base is created in CRM (Based on Delivery).
But we are using BOM so line item 20 and 30 is attached to header item 10.
and when we are creating delivery, three different installed base are creating.
Actually i want One Installed base of item 10 and Attached item 20 & 30 becomes a component
How can i do?

How to create an Installed base from the sales order

Dear Friends,
could any one let me know the process of creating an Installed base with the below process.
Once a sales order is created in SD, an istalled base need to be created in CRM system with reference to sales order.
There are around 50 final products and approximately 2000(BOM)components for each product exists. but the client wants to maintain only few components
like 100 to 200 components in Installed base.
In CRM system, can we maintain Installed base Template with that 100 or 200 components. If yes, how do we assign the Individual objects(Serial numbers) to each component.

there can be two possibilities
Option 1. Create Install base in CRM while creating Sales order in ECC using RFC CRM_IBASE_CREATE. Make some reference of sales order in the Ibase. later when you move equipments to CRM then you can attach these equipments to Ibase (Already created in Thru RFC)in Badi CRM_EQUI_LOAD(This BAdi is called while moving equipments from ECC to CRM).
Option 2. Don't create Ibase at the creation of Sales order. but while creating Equipment just add some indiacator in the equipment to know which sale sorder this equipments belongs.
and once these equipments moves to CRM. Using the BADI CRM_EQUI_LOAD you can club all the equipments(of same sales order) under one ibase.

How to link Sales Order with Service Contract and then with Install Base?

Hi Friends,
1) I would like to know the integeration process from sales order to Service Contract and then with Install Base.
2) I couldn't see anything enabled in Service Tab in Order Lines, its grayed out. Is there any set up/profile option to get it enabled?
3) How can we create AR invoice from Service Contract?
Please let me know if anyone has idea on this.

Thanks for your promt response.
Let me explain you what I did.
1) I have booked a Bill Only sales order which has one order line, mentioned it as Service Item and provided the same details in Service Tab in Order lines. Now Line status is "Fulfilled"
2) Then Submitted Workflow Back Ground Process for OM Order Lines and it has created an AR Invoice and closed the line
3) And then submitted "Service Contracts Order Capture Integration Program" from SErvice Contracts Responsibility and it completed normal.
4) Now I went in to Launch Contracts Window and queried with the sales order but couldn't see any contract created
5) Then I went in to Reprocess Order Window and found this order shows an error message as "Referenced Product not present in the Installed Base", then I tried to reprocessed it, but the same error message again.
Here I have few doubts:
1) Are the AR invoice and Service Contract Billing Invoices same?
2) In above scenario AR Invoice has been created, I would like to do the billing from SErvice Contracts and need to create an Invoice in AR? how can I do that?
because as you explained in one of my questions earlier, A Single Invoice can be created for the whole duration of the contract. I want to do that and trying for the same.
3) Regarding the above error message, how can I resolve it and create the service contract against that Order?

No Configuration In Install base for procured Items

No configuration is build in Install base for Configured Items procured thru PO.
Problem Description:
We created a PO for a Configured Item and received into an Org ( setup as serialized at receipt) for stocking purpose. The Entire Configuration is not created in Install base. We expected both the Parent and the child ( which are IB-trackable) to be created in the Install base. But the child is not created in the Install base.
We set the profile CSI:Explode BOM as "yes" and still it did not help.

FYI, the error code is as follows...Can you give us the error code?
Also paste the procedure structure that you are using to call the IB API where you are trying to trap the error.

Equipment hierarchy with Non serialized products to Installed base in CRM

Hi,
I have just performed an equipment download from R/3 to CRM. I now have these records created as individual objects assigned to an installed base.
However my equipment record in R/3 has Serialized Products as well as non serialized products in form of BOM (bill of material).
Example: Equipment Hierarchy (In R/3 )
    10123428 Main Equipment have 2 non serialized product
199-012100         (Non serialized product under this equipment)
                270-012200         (Non serialized product under this equipment)
       10123429         Subordinate equipment to main equipment
                              (Serialized product )
340-070800 (Non serialized product under this 2nd equipment)
              270-562700 (Non serialized product under this 2 nd equipment)
The Main equipment(10123428) is created as installed base in CRM successfully.
     The Subordinate Serialized product (10123429) to main equipment is created as individual object under this Installed base of the Main equipment properly.
     But the non serialized products (199-012100,270-012200 ) for main equipment and non serialized products (340-070800 ,270-562700)for the subordinate serialized product are not coming in CRM .
Because When I go to IB53 transaction there is no entry in the components in the product Tab under product id column.
Has anyone replicated R/3 equipment records with BOM structure into CRM and got their Non serialized products visible in the components of the Individual objects.
Any help would be most appreciated.

Hi Prabhakaran,
You can filter the data downloaded from R/3 to CRM based on the filter criteria assigned to adapter objects. You can do this via transaction R3AC1 wherein you specify the table and fields based on which you want to filter out the data.
For Serial Numbers and Equipments the business objects are SERIAL and EQUIPMENT respectively.

Software Metering Report - Install base for all metered software programs - Returns 0

Hi All
I have an issue with one of the software metering reports, Install base for all metered software programs. when run it returns that the metered software is installed on 0 computers.
All usage reports seem to work correctly and I can see usage data for the monitored applications. But anything related to install base such as the one listed above and "Computers that have a metered program installed but have not run the program since
a specific date" either return 0 or are blank.
Any help will be greatly appreciated

Hi All
finally found a fix to the problem. It was very closely related to what Gareth had mentioned regarding Asset Intelligence. The actual method of detecting if a program is installed is done through Software Inventory
Under Custom Client Settings i had enabled Software Inventory on client but never setup any rules to gather data. So i created a new rule for all *.exe files and around an hour later the report started to show up clients.
This blog post also describes the method of setting up software inventory correctly

Report Related to Installed Base (T.Code IB51and IH20)

In IB51 Installed Base Number is generating based up on Header Material Number and Serial Number.
and it will be generated based up on both Header Material and Child Data .
But my problem is I need to Find the in which Table IBASE number is storing.
I Need to Generate the report which Needs to be display the IBASE Number along with all the data.
PLease anybody help me to find out the table of IBASE Number..only I hav the inputs Material Number and Serial Number.

I need to generate report which gives details of Installed base in CRM like Partner details, Product details, Sales area details & so on...I'm unable to find Functiona module that gives me data for all these paramaters. If you have found solution for this already kindly let me know.
i've found 2 tables that gives IB no, & its components. IBIB & IBIN.

Installed Base Status Profile Structure

Hi Gurus,
I have a doubt respect a status profile structure.
I create an Installed Base Z, after that I assigned an User Profile Status. I've intented to find the field structure into the general data view in CRM UI, but is imposible,basically in the view this structure is hidden or not exists. The structure name is RIBIB and I need to recover its information in order to show the information about status profile.

You could use the IBase function modules that all start CRM_IBASE_* to create the IBase and use the ORDER_SAVE BADI as a trigger.

Clarity on basics of oracle Install Base

I am not getting clarity over the below mentioned items even after going thru documents. Can anybody please highlight on these...
--> what exactly is an instance in install base and how is it associated to a serial number of an item or product?
--> what is meant by maintaining relationship between instances?
--> At what position specific to Service Contracts / Order Management / Shipping applications, an instance gets created or updated in install base?
--> what is meant by serial control over an item from an shipping organization perspective?
--> what are the other applications that can be a source for an Install Base transaction?

Ans:Yes, In One oracle block there can be more than one row whether it is oracle 10g or 11g doesn't matter.
Question2.
Every row stored in an oracle block is referred to as a Row piece in Oracle terminology. Right?

hi,
You need to assign partner determination procedure to install base. First define partner determination procedure. Then assign it to your install base category. You can do the same in spro crm> master data> install base.
Now, after assigning pdp to install base category, when you will create install base and click on goto partner, you will get partner whose partner function you have used in partner determination procedure.

IBASE -> A collection of function modules used for VC or Hierarchcal structures.
Fleet -> Is used for example if you have to maintain many vehicals i. e. car park etc.
this is the easiest way to describe the use of both elements.
