Pmset Applescript sometimes prompts for PW...

Curiosity... I developed a script yesterday that I was able to access pmset and provide it with my password so that I could change the sleep times without prompting for my password... it seemed to be working fine...
I just rebooted and now (despite the script remaining the same and providing my pw) - it now prompts me for my pw... UNTIL I provide it once and then it no longer asks for it...
Here is the code...
set Day_SleepTime to 60 --Idle time for Day Sleep
do shell script ("/usr/bin/pmset -c sleep " & Day_SleepTime & "") password "my_password" with administrator privileges
Any thoughts?

  • Report sometimes prompts for database logon prior to execution

I have installed the Crystal Reports Integration Addon on our system and it works correclty for users on our terminal services server.  But when I installed it on a user's PC running Windows XP, when I go to execute an existing report, the Runtime viewer launches, and then displays a Database logon panel with the Server field filled in, the database field is blank, and the SA user and password fields are populated, and I get an error that says logon failed.  I type in the SA user id and password, but get the same error.
If the same user logs onto the TS server, the runtime viewer launches correctly and the report prompts for input, then displays the appropriate data (no database logon is requested). But if it runs at that user's workstation, the viewer launches, and then prompts for database logon.
We are running SAP 2007A SP00 PL47, CR Basic 2008 for SAP Business One, and the runtime viewer is Crystal Reports 2008 Runtime SP1. version 2.0.0.7

    Hi Bruce,
I am not sure what the problem is.
The only workaround I can think of is to change the Integrated Security in the report to true. This means that you will be using Windows Authentication as opposed SQL Authentication. This will not prompt for SQL username and password.
Usually this is NOT an ideal process as you will have to Add each and every Windows user in the SQL Database you are trying to access. For example, you have to add DOMAIN_NAME\User_Name under the Database Properties.
I am not sure what the minimum security you need to run the report. You will try a few different options and see what works best for you. Avoid permissions that would give users ability to write to the SQL database.
Again, I know this is not ideal. But I am not sure what else can be done here.

  • Micrsoft Outlook somtimes prompting for username and password

    hello All ,
I Have Exchange 2010 sp3 installed two mailbox servers & two HUB & CAS Servers  and Outlook sometimes  prompting for username and password .
    how can fix it .
    Thank you

    Hi,
    Please check the following points:
    1. Does the issue happen to your external users or internal users?
    2. For all users or some specific users?
If the issue happens to internal users, please configure the authentication in Outlook Security tab with Negotiate Authentication to have a try.
    Thanks,

  • Since upgrading to iOS 6 I am not getting prompted for my password when I update apps. Why is this?

When I updated apps on my ipad2 and iphone4S I used to get prompted for my password within a certain time.  So I could update a couple and then 10 minutes later if I wanted to download or update something else I would need to put in my password again. Since I upgraded to iOS6, I don't believe I am prompted for my password the same amount of times. I updated an app this am after not using iPad through the night and it just updated, no password required. This has me concerned now because sometimes I bump buttons by accident and now I will be charged for these accidents. What has happened to Apple's brilliant security?

They've changed it in iOS and updates (and updates ONLY) do not require a password since it is really unnecessary as they have it on record that you were the one who bought the app. Why is more security needed, you aren't going to be charged for anything?
Next time you update and app go to the App Store and try to buy something. You will be asked for your password.

  • Exchange 2007 to 2013 Migration issues. Prompt for credentials, Public Folders inaccessible, Apps not working

    Exchange 2013 Migration issues
I have three issues and decided to list them here. Please pick and choose to assist. Thanks in advance.
    Environment:
    Mixed 2007 SP3 R12 and 2013 CU3. 2007 Environment was webmail.domain.com. I installed new Exchange 2013 (1 CAS, 1 Mailbox) according to:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff805032(v=exchg.150).aspx. Exchange 2007 is now legacy.domain.com and Exchange 2013 CAS is webmail.domain.com.
Machine 1: Windows 8.1, not domain joined, using Outlook Anywhere external. Outlook 2013
Machine 2: Windows 7, domain joined, using Outlook Anywhere internal. Outlook 2010 SP2
I have migrated 1 user so far to Exchange 2013. This user was a Domain Admin. I have removed that membership. I checked the box to inherit permissions of the security of the object and reset the AdminCount attribute in ADSIedit to 0 and verified this replicated
to all domain controllers. ( I originally thought this to be the issue with it prompting for the password. )

    ISSUE 1
Issue: On Machine 1 (reference above) Windows Security prompt that says "Connecting to
[email protected]". Almost always prompts when Outlook is first opened. Afterwards (if it goes away) seemingly random on when it asks for it. I put in the credentials (absolutely correct) and it fails and prompts again.
I always check the box for it to save the password. To get rid of it, I click the Cancel button at which Outlook reports "NEED PASSWORD", but still acts fine sending and receiving emails. Eventually the "NEED PASSWORD" sometimes changes
to say "CONNECTED", but it works regardless.
No issues on Machine 2 so I don't know where the problem might be as there are a lot of variables in play here.
    ISSUE 2
Migrated user is unable to open Public folders from Exchange 2007.
Cannot expan the folder. Microsoft Exchange is not available. Either there are network problems or the Exchange server is down for maintenance. (/o=...).
This error occurs on Machine 1, Machine 2 and from OWA, same error each time.
    ISSUE 3
Apps. Installed by default are 4 apps (Bing Maps, Suggested Meetings, Unsubscribe, Action Items). I have made sure the apps are enabled in OWA and they show up in mail items on both Machine 1 (Outlook 2013) and OWA. They do not show up in Machine 2 (Outlook
    2010). I'm assuming that isn't supported.
In OWA, when I go to the installed apps listing it shows all of the apps but has a broken link on the image describing the app.
When I click the app in either Outlook 2013 or in OWA, I get "APP ERROR, Sorry we can't load the app. Please make sure you have network and/or internet connectivity. Click "Retry" once you're back online.
Current workaround is just disabling them through OWA.

    Hello,
In order to avoid confusion, we troubleshoot a issue per thread usually.
For your first isue, I agree with Ed's suggestion to check if your certificate name is correct.
Besides, I recommend you change ExternalClientAuthenticationMethod from Basic authentication to Negotiate authentication to check the result.
For the second issue and third issue, please create a new post.

  • Turn Off Distiller Prompting for Filename on MAC like you already can on windows.

I've posted about this before, but with no useful reaction. There is a documented feature in the Windows Distiller, that would be just as useful on mac, but doesn't exist there. In the Adobe documentation, it's called "Turn Off Prompting for Filename".
In short, I'd like a way to stop the MAC distiller from showing dialogs that are not needed when controlling it externally, when the options 'ask for pdf file destination' and 'view pdf when using distiller' are turned on by the user, like this is already possible in windows.
Below is a copy of my original post, with more details.
Distiller brings up dialog while running from applescript
    Arnt Witteveen - 06:08am Dec 19, 2005 Pacific
    Hi,
I've read DistillerAPIReference.pdf (and DistillerParameters.pdf) from the developer documentation, and I have not found a way to do what I need: 'override' the distiller setting to ask for the destination filename and to open the pdf in acrobat when it's done. On windows, this does not seem to be a problem, it's documented under "Distiller API for Windows", in the paragraph "How to Turn Off Prompting for Filename". Even better, when sending the command line "/V /O outfile.pdf /J joboptionsfile inputfile" using DM_CMDLINE and WM_COPYDATA, it doesn't seem to bring up the dialog or open it, which is just what I need (even though I see no reason why it doesn't).
On Mac however, there is no such thing (in fact, the documentation for controlling distiller in this way on mac is very short: 5 mostly empty pages, explaning only that you can start and stop it and pass it a file to distill).
So, how do I stop the mac distiller from showing dialogs that are not needed when controlling it externally, when the options 'ask for pdf file destination' and 'view pdf when using distiller' are turned on by the user?

sorry, but the 2880x1800 is hardware; in fact what makes non-optimized sites look (relativly) ugly is that to upscale the graphics to the apparent resolution of everything else each pixel is represented by 4 pixels, and as you know being in graphics, upscaling pictures is generally results in ugly.
Back to my point, there's no software to make the display lose 75% of its pixels; you'll either have to use another machine and/or wait for sites to optomize their graphics for the retina displays...which may or may never happen depending on the sites awareness/closeness with Apple's technology

  • ABAP consuming Web Service in HTTPS keeps prompting for credentials

I have a Share Point Web Service that I want
to call in HTTPS from ABAP
in an ECC 6.0 SAP_BASIS 700 SP 30 system. The
    following steps have been
    executed:
    BASIS work completed –
    SAPCRYPTOLIB, HTTPS Activation, profile
    parameters, STRUST certificates
I have created the Client Proxy in SE80 for the SharePoint WCF Web Service
The Logical Port was created in SOAMANAGER
The issue I have is when I test the process using SE80 sometimes it will prompt
for credentials, sometimes it won't. The behavior is very sporadic, I
can run it once and it prompts then the second time it doesn't. This is
especially true after a restart of the system. The user and password
are on the RFC destination under consumer security tab.
Any suggestions why the prompting for
    credentials?

  • Prompt for user profile photos

    Hi,
When we try to open any page in SharePoint with intranet users' pics in it, sometimes it prompts for user name and password and that to many times not once. So if I provide the username and password then it allows me to see the profile pics in the
page otherwise shows a "x" on the picture.
I want to know why this happens for some pics only not all?

    Hi ,
What do you mean intranet users' pics?
Does your MySite Host site have different FQDN from your SharePoint site?
Please check if adding MySite url in IE browser trusted sites zone could work.
If it still doesn't work, please check ULS log see if there is any related error for any clue when access the SharePoint page containing intranet users pics.
    Thanks

  • How do I prevent auto-login? I never EVER save passwords, yet FF logs me into gmail without prompting for login.

I never save passwords - never have, never will. Using evil IE, Gmail works correctly in that it prompts me for ID and password for each new browser instance. Yet when I open gmail with FF, it goes straight to my inbox without prompting for ID or password. I use gmail in "always secure" mode. Cookies are enabled, of course, just did not expect my password to be saved and loaded from a cookie. How can I rectify this problem?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened

I have this issue too. I have never asked to be "always signed in" with gmail, yet sometimes it will sign me in automatically when I open my Firefox browser. I try clearing everything I can clear ( even though I've said NOT to save my password or sign in automatically), but it still happens. It's not even consistent - sometimes it will happen and sometimes not. This is very frustrating. I share my computer and I do not want automatic sign in anytime! >:o(

  • Messages keeps prompting for password

Messages(iMessage) on my 13" Macbook Pro is constantly prompting for the password when sending or recieving messages. Sometimes multiple times while typing a response, or trying to send a response. It used to work, but for the last month it has been driving me crazy. I have tried several things found on this forum with no luck. Any help is appreciated.

    Hi,
Although the Messages app stores the ID and the linked Password separately from other apps it does seem odd that it seems only Messages is effected.
However I would check ownership of the Keychain.
    Open a Finder window.
Go to the View Menu and chose "Show Path Bar"
At the bottom of the window an extra set of details regarding the route to the folder you are currently looking in will be displayed.
Now use the Go Menu > Go to Folder  and type (Copy and Paste) ~/Library/Keychain
There should at least be an item called login.keychain
Highlight this then use the CDM + i "Get Info" keystrokes.
At the bottom of this panel it will tell you if you have Read and Write permissions
Your name should be in the list and when you highlight your name and then use the Cogwheel icon below the list you should find the Phrase "Make yourshortname (Me) the Owner" is greyed out (as if already done)
I would also tend to use the Finder's View Menu > Show View Options and display the Modified column to see that the Keychain is being updated.
IF the Keychain is owned by  you and you have Read And Write permissions then right-click the Library on the Path Bar.
Use the Get Info option and check you Own this and have Read and Write Permission.

  • App store prompting for credit card information

I am using an iPhone 3G and iOS 3 (I have not updated for several months).
Occasionally, when attempting to download an app from the app store, I am prompted to read the newest version of the EULA. After agreeing to it, I have to download the app again.
Something similar is happening and I'm a bit weary. I am not being prompted to view a new EULA. Instead, I am being prompted for my credit card information. In the couple years I have owned the phone, I have never seen this happen.
Upon trying to download an app, I first receive a popup called "Verification Required" telling me that "Before you can make purchases, you must tap Continue to sign in, then verify your payment info."
Please note that I have already typed in my password to download the app and the app is FREE.
When I click "continue," I am taken to an application page (I'm assuming in App Store) asking me to type in my credit card information. All of the information is already filled out (as I already have my cc set up with my iTunes account) except I'm required to type in my security code to procede.
What exactly is going on here?

The only time I have seen this is when either the CC has expired or I have changed the card I used for a purchase in iTunes and the phone then asked me to verify the card information when I wanted to buy an App.
A few days ago I wanted to use my AMEX card instead of my bankcard that I had originally registered to make a purchase through the iTunes website store and when I then wanted to buy an App from the phone I had to enter my AMEX card info into the phone. It still requires verification if there has been a change even if it is a free App.
Has the card you originally entered in iTunes expired and been renewed in which case the phone will ask for the new expiry date or have you opted to use a different card in iTunes at sometime?

  • GMail (application specific password) on Mac Mail Keeps prompting for password

i keep entering an "application specific password" on my MAC PRO computer running Lion (10.7.5) and it keeps getting lost somehow every so often. sometimes after a month and sometimes after a couple of days. this means i have to go back to the Google Application Specific Password site and generate a new login and put it back in the prompt for my gmail account.
any ideas on how to fix this or what is going on? works fine on my mac book pro.

Bump.  I have the same question.

  • Prompt for Password on Application Sync

Is it normal for the iPhone to prompt for a password when synching applications? (NOTE: this prompt is behind the "Sync in Progress" dialogue window on the iPhone itself and can only be visible if you slide the cancel bar)
I didn't notice this with my initial sync with applications (in which I downloaded a few from the iTunes Application store and then performed a sync, however after having downloaded a few from the Apps Store directly on the iPhone and then trying to sync back to my Mac I've noticed this behavior.
Am I missing something? Is there a setting so that my iPhone will remember my iTunes password for a given amount of time or prompt me prior to performing the sync?

I had the same problem with my iPhone prompting for the iTunes password from the home screen. It sometimes happened after unlocking, but mostly after syncing. It appears to have been related to an app I am using named "Fit Phone". The latest update to this app requires a "sync" before the install will complete. Needless to say, after repeated sync's the app was not installed and the iPhone kept prompting for my password. The Fit Phone icon was also greyed-out and unresponsive after sync and restart of the iPhone. To fix the problem, I deleted the app from the phone and I also had to delete it from the local iTune's library on my PC. Only after the program was completed deleted did the password problem go away. If you have an app icon that is greyed-out, try deleting it complete to see if it corrects the problem for you as well.

  • Prompted for more than one password when updating/buying apps

My wife and I both have iPhones synced to iTunes on one laptop.  As such we both sync/back-up our phones to a single library.
When we update/buy apps we are sometimes prompted to enter each others passwords when using our own phones?  That is I am asked to enter her password when I am using my phone and she is promoted to enter mine when using here phone.  How do we avoid this?
    Thanks

I've seen this happen for myself and my partner's iPhone too. I came to the same conclusion - the apps I'd "purchased" (even free apps are classified as purchased in iTunes) on my iPhone got pushed to my partner's phone when she connected it to the same iTunes instance.
Apple suggest a few different methods for managing two iPhones on one machine here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1495
In general, they suggest keeping the iTunes libraries separate. There's also a link to another article which explains about sharing music between more than one library.

I have a controller that sometimes does and sometimes doesn't prompt for memory test at boot up. What triggers the prompt for memory test at boot up?
