  • Query Builder - Where Clause - Could not format error using date comparison

    We've come across a bug in the Query Builder, under the Create Where Clause tab, if you select a column of Date type plus one of the comparison operators =, !=, <, >, <=, >=, BETWEEN or NOT BETWEEN it displays an error in the Logging Page:
    Level: Severe
    Source: o.d.r.queryBuilder.SQLGenerator
    Message: Could not format :2010-09-02 16:20:31.0
    Then under the Show SQL tab it doesn't display the date(s) you selected, e.g.
    WHERE LAST_UPDATE BETWEEN AND
    Also the View Results tab does not display any results.
    You can still press Apply to add the SQL as is to the editor window and from there you have to manually code in the date parameters.

    Hi Gordon,
    When I add the following lines:
    declare @refdt1 date
    set @refdt =
    /*select 1 from jdt1 t0 where t0.RefDate*/ '[%1]'
    declare @refdt2 date
    set @refdt =

    WHERE T0.RefDate >= @refdt1 and T0.RefDate <= @refdt2
    ... the error message is now:
    Must declare the scalar variable @refdt1
    Note: Before adding these lines, the query works perfectly, and returns totals from the whole database (with dynamically generated column headings!)

  • SELECT DISTINCT does not work - Another Problem!

    Dear All
    Previous Post
    I just posted a thread, which has been answered by an expert. It's here:
    SELECT DISTINCT does not work. Why?
    My original problem was that the Query returned duplicate records, and SELECT DISTINCT did not work.
    The solution was to change this select:
    T0.[U_SupInv]      AS 'Link'
    ... to this:
    CAST(T0.[U_SupInv] as nvarchar(100))      AS 'Link'
    The amended Query worked.
    New Problem
    I just discovered that resolving the problem created a new one.
    The field U_SupInv (Link) is in fact a UDF.
    I created it so that all Suppliers' Invoices could be Scanned to pdf files, and these pdf could be linked
    to the respective AP Invoice.
    Originally, when I clicked 'Link' in my Query results, the pdf scan pops up.
    When the Query is amended by adding CAST, the link becomes dead.
    Help
    Could anyone tell me how I can make SELECT DISTINCT work, as well keeping the LINKS live?
    The main purpose of my Query is to help users view the pdf scans by clicking on the links.
    Thanks
    Leon Lai
    Here's my Original Query
    SELECT
    T0.[UpdateDate] AS 'Update Dt',
    T0.[TaxDate] AS 'Doc Dt',
    CASE T5.[TransType]
         WHEN '18' THEN 'PU ' + CONVERT(VARCHAR(6), T0.[DocNum])
         WHEN '19' THEN 'PC ' + CONVERT(VARCHAR(6), T0.[DocNum])
    END 'SAP Ref.',
    T1.[ImportLog]     AS 'Ship #',
    T0.[CardCode] + '' AS 'Supplier #',
    T0.[CardName]      AS 'Supplier Name',
    T0.[DocTotal]      AS 'Rs',
    T1.[BlockNum]      AS 'Reqn #',
    T0.[DocNum]        AS 'Doc No',
    T0.[U_SupInv]      AS 'Link'
    FROM klship.[dbo].[OPCH] T0
    INNER JOIN klship.[dbo].[PCH1] T1 ON T0.[DocEntry] = T1.[DocEntry]
    INNER JOIN klship.[dbo].[OJDT] T5 ON T0.[TransID] = T5.[TransID]
    WHERE
    (T0.[UpdateDate] >= '[%2]' AND
    T0.[UpdateDate]  <= '[%3]' AND
    T0.[U_SupInv] IS NULL)
    OR
    (T0.[UpdateDate] >= '[%4]' AND
    T0.[UpdateDate]  <= '[%5]' AND
    T0.[U_SupInv] IS NOT NULL)
    FOR BROWSE

    Dear István Korös,
    Thanks a lot for your answer.
    I will test your suggestion tomorrow, as it's night and I am returning home now.
    However, I do not think it will suit my requirements for the foll reasons:
    - I worked hard to get rid of the need to enter anything in the @Scan2 field.
    - This UDF was created solely as a text of instruction for my staff.
       Unfortunately I had to fill in something to make the Query work.
    - The problem is that if the user forgets to click the drop-down arrow and leaves @Scan2
       blank, the query does not work.
    - With the help of another expert, I succeeded in ignoring @Scan2 altogether.
    - I posted only a simplified version of my Query on the forum, without the codes relating to eliminating the
      need to enter something in @Scan2, so you may not be aware of my requirement.
    - I hope you understand my reluctance. But I will try your suggestion nevertheless.
    My Suggestion
    I think using PCH1.VISORDER may be the solution.
    If we select only those rows where visorder = 0, then
       - there will be no duplication
       - I need not use SELECT DISTINCT
       - All my LINKS to pdf files will be live because I need not use CAST
       - I may retain that part of my Query which permits ignoring @Scan2 altogether.
    - A Dream!-
    The problem is that I don't know how and where  to place that VISORDER.
    If you think I may be right, could you help me along that line?
    Best Regards
    Leon Lai

  • Batch file to query an IP address and amend it

    Iain Smart wrote:So a client can have an IP address from any of 4 subnets?Do you have routing between the various subnets? Otherwise how do the clients connect to other internal resources (server, printers etc) that may be on another subnet?It sounds like you need to have some form of failover at the router rather than switching IP address at the client.This way you can leave the internal IP range and the router handles the multiple connections.However, you can use this command to change the IP address (needs admin priviledges):
    Batchfilenetsh interface ip set address name=”Local Area Connection” static

    Hi Guys,Right, I need to create a batch file which will query the LAN IP address then display what connection it is connected to.So, at one of our sites we have multiple internet connections due to it being in the middle of nowhere and the internet connections are very unstable.We have 2 ADSL connections and 2 4G/3G/2G connections which are all on the same LAN but are seperated by different subnetsSo I need the script to check the IP address and display whether it is on Connection A, B, C or DI will then need the script to ask the user which connection they would like to be on and then it will change the IP to fit the criteria of the subnet they wantThe DNS addresses stay the sameOh and this script will be ran on many different PCs so it needs to check the Local Area Connection and amend it current IP. for example:192.168.3.1 -...

  • Query For Sales Order Amendments

    Hi,
    Does anyone have a query that lists the amendments to a Sales Order?

  • Using multiple 'and' conditions in a SQL query

    Is it possible to reduce the SQL required to query using multiple 'and' conditions, e.g. I have a query like the following:
    select stat.personal_id, appt.username, appt.password, apps.rgn_apt_id, apps.apy_apn_id
    from apy_ast_application_status stat, rgn_usr_user appt, rgn_aps_applications apps
    where stat.apy_apn_id = apps.rgn_apt_id
    and apps.rgn_apt_id = appt.rgn_apt_id
    and stat.application_completed is null
    and stat.application_started_date > '01-MAY-11'
    and stat.amount_paid is null
    and stat.personal_details = 'C'
    and stat.further_details = 'C'
    and stat.education = 'C'
    and stat.employment = 'C'
    and stat.personal_statement = 'C'
    and stat.choices = 'C'
    and stat.reference = 'C'
    and stat.student_finance = 'C'
    Is there a way, to reduce all the multiple 'and' queries, to be read from say one line? If you know what I mean.......

    Ah, Ok this looks nice, thanks very much. It doesn't quite run as is because the stat.amount_paid query value is 'is null', while the others are 'C'. I tried amending the relevant line to various versions of the following:-
    in (select 'is null' 'C','C','C','C','C','C','C','C' from dual)
    which doesn't work.
    I can get the following to work so I am assuming that the it is not possible to use different query values within the brackets of the 'in (select....' statement?
    select stat.personal_id, appt.username, appt.password, apps.rgn_apt_id, apps.apy_apn_id
    from apy_ast_application_status stat, rgn_usr_user appt, rgn_aps_applications apps
    where stat.apy_apn_id = apps.rgn_apt_id
    and apps.rgn_apt_id = appt.rgn_apt_id
    and stat.application_completed is null
    and stat.application_started_date > '01-MAY-11'
    and stat.amount_paid is null
    and (stat.personal_details, stat.further_details, stat.education,
    stat.employment, stat.personal_statement, stat.choices, stat.reference, stat.student_finance)
    in (select 'C','C','C','C','C','C','C','C' from dual)
    Thanks for everybodys help - the suggested alternatives seem so much more elegant

  • FIFO Query to generate report Which relates the out-quantity to in-quantity

    Dear Experts,
    I am trying to generate a report to find out the Inward documents of Items which are issued or transfered. Items are managed with FIFO. Certain Items are serially managed and certain not.
    I am using the tables OIVL, OIVE and OIVQ for getting the details.
    Now my problem is in certain situations the relation between OIVE and OIVQ returns more line items than required and not able to specifically found out the rows. (Same TreeID is used for several transactions)
    Please help
    Thanks and regards
    Ajith Gopalakrishnan

    Hi,
    This Query help you a lot as I made this query for displaying the recieve and out quantity of an item as per the date i.e. On which date you recieve how much quantity of an item and how much quantity you release of an item. and please amend the remaining transtype from the transaction table (OINM).
    In case of FIFO you know that First IN First OUT is followed so you can easily see that which item on a particular date you recieve and which item on a particular date you release...and if any more further enhancement you required then please let me know ....if will definitely make out some time to help you out.
    select distinct SUM(InQty)as InQty,SUM(OutQty)as OutQty,ItemCode,Dscription,DocDate, TransType,
    case TransType
    when '-2' then 'opening Balance'
    when '20' then 'Goods Reciept PO '
    when '59' then 'Reciept From Production/Good Reciept '
    when '15' then 'Deliveries '
    end as 'TransName'
    from (
    select ItemCode,Dscription,DocDate, InQty,OutQty,TransType from oinm ) as OINM
    group by DocDate,ItemCode,TransType,Dscription order by  docdate asc
    Thanks

  • To lock the output of a SELECT query

    Hi,
    I want to lock the output of a SELECT query to some transaction.
    I have wriiten it as follows , the output of the query is a single row;
    SELECT empname
    FROM employees
    where empid = 100
    FOR UPDATE;
    Specifying only FOR UPDATE is proper or do i need to specify some more clause ??
    Thanks.

    bscalzo wrote:
    You can also specify the columns to lock if you like:
    select x, y, z from aaa where x = 1 for update of x, y;
    But the locking is still currently only done at the row level - but who knows what the future might offer. May not hurt to have the columns named for thay day when the syntax and engine sync up :)It might be worth to amend that specifying the columns is already particularly relevant if you select from multiple tables/views in order to specify which rows of which table/view to lock.

  • Update Field On Change For A SQL Query (updateable report)

    Hi,
    I'd like to request help from anyone with ideas on how to solve this.
    We are using APEX 4.2, 10GR2, RedHat5.
    I have a report that comes from SQL Query (updateable report).
    I'm using the apex_item.text and apex_item.hidden on fields.
    I'm using a button to submit and after submit process to add some logic that I need.
    There could be 1 - 10 records in the report.
    There is only 1 field that is needed to enter a value, but the value of this field determines the value of another field.
    I think that I can do this with a submit button and an after submit process where I loop through all the records. I think I have this handled.
    This is the question
    When the value of that field is changed then the value of another field in the same row changes immediately.
    Is this possible?
    All the examples I've seen so far are for a single record and that doesn't work for us.
    I guess this is a MRU process but I haven't seen an example where a dynamic action is possible on a Multi Row Update.
    Could anyone direct me to where I can see an example or help me get directions?
    I appreciate all your help an comments and I thank you in advance.

    Yes why not...what you looking for is a ajax call
    See {message:id=10390979}
    Please note:-you can also do this as a dynamic action as shown below
    Event: Change
    Selection type: jQuery Selector
    jQuery Selector: input[name="f01"]
    True action with Execute JavaScript Code and put all code inside the test funtion, you may need to amend the code to use this.triggeringElemnt in place of this

  • Understanding the DECODE statement in an SQL Query......

    Hi,
    This is my query:
    SELECT
    DECODE(IT.master_flag,0,'-',ea_submission_date),
    DECODE(IT.master_flag,0,'-',ea_approval_date),
    DECODE(IT.master_flag,0,'-',ea_date),
    DECODE(IT.master_flag,0,'-',ea_comments)
    FROM
    amendment it,
    {CODE}
    The master_flag on the AMENDMENT table can be 1,0 or NULL.
    I want the above query to output a '-' character in the result set in the 4 columns being selected if the master_flag is either 0 or null.
    If it is one 1 however, then display the value of the column. E.G display the data in 'ea_submission_date', 'ea_approval_date', 'ea_date,  and 'ea_comments' (if there are values in these columns of course.
    Am I right in using the above query?

    DECODE(IT.master_flag,0,'-',null, '-', ea_approval_date) ea_approval_date,

  • SQL Query Help - Is this possible or impossible????

    Hi guys,
    I need help with an SQL query that I'm trying to develop. It's very easy to explain but when trying to implement it, I'm struggling to achieve the results that I want.....
    For example,
    I have 2 tables
    The first table is:
    1) COMPANY create table company (manufacturer varchar2(25),
                                                          date_established date,
                                                          location varchar2(25) );My sample test date is:
    insert into company values ('Ford', 1902, 'USA');
    insert into company values ('BMW', 1910, 'Germany');
    insert into company values ('Tata', 1922, 'India');The second table is:
    2) MODELS create table models (manufacturer varchar(25),
                                                 model varchar2(25),
                                                 price number(10),
                                                 year date,
                                                 current_production_status varchar2(1) ) ;My sample test data is:
    insert into models values ('Ford', 'Mondeo', 10000, 2010, 0);
    insert into models values ('Ford', 'Galaxy', 12000,   2008, 0);
    insert into models values ('Ford', 'Escort', 10000, 1992, 1);
    insert into models values ('BMW', '318', 17500, 2010, 0);
    insert into models values ('BMW', '535d', 32000,   2006, 0);
    insert into models values ('BMW', 'Z4', 10000, 1992, 0);
    insert into models values ('Tata', 'Safari', 4000, 1999, 0);
    insert into models values ('Tata', 'Sumo', 5500,   1996, 1);
    insert into models values ('Tata', 'Maruti', 3500, 1998, 0);And this is my query:
    SELECT
            com.manufacturer,
            com.date_established,
            com.location,
            DECODE(nvl(mod.current_production_status, '0'), '0', '-', mod.model),
            DECODE(nvl(mod.current_production_status, '0'), '0', '-', mod.price),
            DECODE(nvl(mod.current_production_status, '0'), '0', '-', mod.year),
            mod.current_production_status
    FROM
           company com,
           models mod
    WHERE
          mod.manufacturer = com.manufacturer
          and com.manufacturer IN ('Ford', 'BMW', 'Tata')
          and mod.current_production_status IN (1,0)
    ORDER BY
            mod.current_production_status DESCWhat I want the query to output is this:
    com.manufacturer        com.date_established          com.location          mod.model          mod.price             mod.year     mod.current_production_status
    Ford               1902                    USA               Escort               10000               1992          1
    BMW               1910                    Germany               -               -               -          0
    Tata               1922                    India               Sumo               5500               1998          1If current_production_status is 1 it means this particular model has been discontinued
    If current_production_status is 0 it means the manufacturer does not have any discontinued models and all are in procuction.
    The rule is only one record per manufacturer is allowed to have a current_production_status of 1 (so only one model from the selection the manufactuer offers is allowed to be discontinued).
    So the query should output the one row where current_production_status is 1 for each manufacturer.
    If for a given manufacturer there are no discontinued models and all have a current_production_status of 0 then ouput a SINGLE row that only includes the data from the COMPANY table (as above). The rest of the columns from the MODELS table should be populated with a '-' (hyphen).
    My query as it is above will output all the records where current status is 1 or 0 like this
    com.manufacturer        com.date_established          com.location          mod.model          mod.price          mod.year     mod.current_production_status
    Ford               1902                    USA               Escort               10000               1992          1
    Tata               1922                    India               Sumo               5500               1998          1
    Ford               1902                    USA               -               -               -          0
    Ford               1902                    USA               -               -               -          0
    BMW               1910                    Germany               -               -               -          0
    BMW               1910                    Germany               -               -               -          0
    BMW               1910                    Germany               -               -               -          0
    Tata               1922                    India               -               -               -          0
    Tata               1922                    India               -               -               -          0However this is not what I want.
    Any ideas how I can achieve the result I need?
    Thanks!

            com.date_established,
            com.location,
            DECODE(nvl(mod.current_production_status, '0'), '0', '-', mod.model),
            DECODE(nvl(mod.current_production_status, '0'), '0', '-', mod.price),
            DECODE(nvl(mod.current_production_status, '0'), '0', '-', mod.year),
            mod.current_production_status
    FROM
           company com,
           models mod
    WHERE
          mod.manufacturer = com.manufacturer
          and com.manufacturer = 'Ford'
          and mod.current_production_status IN (1,0)
    ORDER BY
            mod.current_production_status DESCThe value of:
    and com.manufacturer = 'Ford'will be dependent on front end user input....
    When I run the query above I get all the rows where current_production_status is either 1 or 0.
    I only require the rows where current_production_status is 1.
    So if I amend it to look like this:
         and mod.current_production_status = 1This works....
    BUT if a user now passes in more than one manufacturer EG:
    and com.manufacturer IN ('Ford', 'BMW')The query will only return the one row for Ford where current_production_status is 1. However because BMW has no models where current_production_status is 1 (all 3 are 0), I still want this to be output - as one row....
    So like this:
    com.manufacturer        com.date_established          com.location          mod.model          mod.price             mod.year     mod.current_production_status
    Ford               1902                    USA               Escort               10000               1992          1
    BMW               1910                    Germany               -               -               -          0So (hopefully you understand), I want both cases to be catered for.....whether a user enters one manufacturer or more than one...
    Thanks you so much!
    This is really driving me insane :-(

  • Editable column in a query

    I am trying to create some queries and post it on the portal as a dashboard using visual composer.
    one query is a basic query with actual, budget, variance and forecast.
    The client has a unique requirement. If in the query, the actual amount is more than the budget amount, he/she needs to have the option to change the forecast values to be more than the budget amount (also more than the actual amount) and save it. Additionally, the client wants the system to keep a track of the changes that were done.
    Is it possible? The client will be seeing this query in the portal. i don't know if they can make changes to a report on portal.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Sam

    Hi Sam,
    What version of BW are you on?
    Where do your budgets/forecasts come from?
    You could look at using an Integrated Planning layout if on BI7.0 and load the forecast into the Planning cube, then switch it to plannable and then they could amend the forecast using standard IP functionality.

  • Query to compare 2 different tables from 2 different database

    Is it possible to write a SQL query to compare 2 Tables from 2 different Oracle Database. Also I need a query to do the same when the database is same.
    Thanks in advance

    OK, well "compare" can mean one of two things: Compare structure or compare contents. Here is a quick script to compare column structures of two tables on one database:
    (select COLUMN_NAME,
    DATA_TYPE,
    DATA_LENGTH,
    DATA_PRECISION,
    DATA_SCALE,
    NULLABLE
    from dba_Tab_columns
    where owner=:OWNR1
    and table_name = :tablename
    minus
    select COLUMN_NAME,
    DATA_TYPE,
    DATA_LENGTH,
    DATA_PRECISION,
    DATA_SCALE,
    NULLABLE
    from dba_Tab_columns
    where owner=:ownr2
    and table_name = :tablename)
    union all
    (select COLUMN_NAME,
    DATA_TYPE,
    DATA_LENGTH,
    DATA_PRECISION,
    DATA_SCALE,
    NULLABLE
    from dba_Tab_columns
    where owner=:ownr2
    and table_name = :tablename
    minus
    select COLUMN_NAME,
    DATA_TYPE,
    DATA_LENGTH,
    DATA_PRECISION,
    DATA_SCALE,
    NULLABLE
    from dba_Tab_columns
    where owner=:ownr1
    and table_name = :tablename)
    If this query returns any rows, then these indicate that there are structural differences between the tables. We do a minus in both directions to ensure that an additional column in either schema will be returned in the query.
    If you are going across dblinks to remote tables then you have to amend the "dba_tab_columns" to "sys.dba_tab_columns@yourdblink"
    If you also want to compare indexes, triggers, etc then do the same sort of thing for the associated dba_ views for those objects.
    And if you want to compare table contents, then often the fastest way is also to check minuses in both directions, if the tables are not too big:
    e.g.
    (select * from schema1.table@dblink1
    minus
    select * from schema2.table@dblink2)
    union all
    (select * from schema2.table@dblink2
    minus
    select * from schema1.table@dblink1)
    local tables, of course, simply omit the "@dblink" issues.
    There are tools to help in such things. TOAD, for example, has a pretty good schema comparison tool, and there are plenty of other options out there. But if you need to script this yourself then the logic I've shown is a good starting point.
    Cheers,
    Mike
