Polling in BPEL

While configuring the dabatase adapter for polling, In step 7 of 9 of database adapter configuration, we have 5 options to implement polling. Can anyone help me out in proceeding further while choosing the options other than the first one? How to use Update a sequencing table, Update a sequencing file and the rest of the options?

hello,
i have to do database polling..this is wat i have done.but instance is not getting created in BPEL..
i have created a sequence in databse.
i have created a source table in database which has three colums id,name, sequence.(generated by doin seq.nextval)
i have created a table as seqhelper table which has two fields table_name and seqid.
now i hav dragged a db adapter.I hav chosen poll, update seq table..and given my seq table name, seqname filed as table_name,seqvalue field as seqid.and sequence fiels ad sequence column of source table ...and done polling frequency as 5 seconds.
now created a bpel process, chosen interface as based on wsdl and selected db adapters wsdl file and linked to bpel after removing the default exposed service of bpel..so bpel as one receive activity joined to db adapter...
WHEN<
i am inserting any new records to source table....instance is not getting created...please help..

  • Model Class Assignment & Polling in BPEL

    Hi,
We are currently stuggling with the following issues:-
    BPEL
We are need to know, how to assign the elements of soap body to a model class and then that model class to session bean in bpel flow, visa-versa.
    Polling
We are using 'Oracle Bpel Manager' to publish our services. As of now we are receiving the request--> We process it --> Send back the response to the client.
But now our client requires implementing polling in Bpel i.e. instead we are sending the response to client, client need to poll for the response.
    Case 1
If response is not ready and if there is any error we have to give the error msg as a response when the client poll for response.
    Case 2
If there is no error and response is not ready then we supposed to give the acknowledgment msg to the client, when the client poll for response.
    Case 3
If response is ready then we have to give the response when the client poll for it.
We checked about the correlation/sensors/Event handlers. But we didn't get any proper concrete answer.
Please help to resolve the above mentioned issues.
    Regards,
    Himanshu

    Hi,
I checked the same still no luck. I checked approx all combination.
First I created a SOA-SAR file(jar file) , I extracted it and checked all jar files were there. orabpel.jar and bpm-services.jar and log4j jar. when i deployed that jar file. but it was not working
then I put this in weblogic sever lib. it not worked.

  • Can i Create Output Variable for DB Polling in BPEL 11g?

    Hi Team,
I want to create the Output Variable for DB Polling,But when i double click on Reply Activity-->Create New Variable it is giving error message like "Can't Create output variable. The Selected operation doesn't have an Output Message".
My Question is Can we create Output Variable for DB Polling, if Yes tell me the procedure to create the Output variable ?
    Regards,
    Kiran

    Hi Kiran,
In these scenario generally runtime faults occurs so you can use the CatchAll activity and rethrow activity to complete the instance in error state. Also before the completion of the process if exception occurs you can rollback all the transaction.
    or
you can use the Fault handling framework:
    Using Fault Handling in a BPEL Process - 11g Release 1 (11.1.1.7)

  • How to read file on demand (or) avoid polling in bpel 11g?

    Hello -
Scenario - Receive two files(A & B) which should end up in two tables (Header, Lines)
    BPEL process -
    1) Receive acitivity - To Read file (A) via File adapter
    2) Tranformed
    3) Invoked the Db adapter to insert into "Header" table
    4) Added another Receive activity - To Read file (B) via File adapter
    5) Transformed
    6) Invoked the Db adapter to insert into "Line" table
Issue - Step 4 gets fired as a SEPARATE instance (but no data in lines table) . At the end - I see the BPEL process which is waiting for File B. Even after I dropped File B - I dont see any records going into tables.
Is there a better way to design this process? Do I need to separate BPEL process to insert into Header & Line table? If so - how can I make this sequential process?
    Appreciate detailed steps, if possible
    Thanks
    Babu

If its really a SyncRead Step 4 willl not run as a seperate process.
Step1: Initiates the process once the header file arrived
Step4: Will be invoked like a normal partnerlink.
Just make sure, you put the lines file before the header file in the directory.
If it doesnot resolve the problem, send your project to me helloprasanna at rediffmail.com . I'll have a look.

but try to implement it and can't find folder BPEL in <SOA_HOME>
now i can utilize email polling from fusion middleware Oracle Service Bus. but it would be more suitable if i can do the polling from my bpel instance.
if someone has experience in this, pls share and will be very appreciated it.

using the tutorial from amis.nl, how can i get the sender, subject (email header) from the email that i'm polling ? with an empty body message email.
i'm facing issue the xml that ums adapter poll and send to the bpel process is only the message body part. can not get the header part.

  • Help required in UCM BPEL integration

Myself Rahul Dutta from itech Technology Sales Consulting team India.
We are working on a customer scenario where we need to call a BPEL
process when we are checking in a document in the UCM.
The document checkin and the BPEL process triggering is totally
independent (not like UCM BPEL integration where the UCM document will
be released into the repository after BPEL workflow gets completed and
    callback happened to UCM).
The scenario here is I will checkin a document in UCM and it will be
released there but parallaly it will trigger a BPEL process which we
will use to do some notification and workflow staff, but the workflow
outcome will not have any impact in te UCM.
We need your help in implementing tis scenario. How we can sence/trigger
a BPEL process when a document is cheking in. I have though of multiple
possibilities like if UCM can do some update in some table which we can
poll from BPEL or if UCM can call a webservice at the time of document
    checkin or any other way.
Please help us in this regard.

    Hello Mukesh,
If you want to learn about RFID technology in general
http://www.rfidjournal.com can be the best start.
As you are a expert in XI it would be very beneficial and your learning curve for SAP RFID technogy will be very easy.
    SAP RFID Solution Suite includes:
    1) SAP AII
    2) SAP EM
    3) SAP OER (a new component that encompasses - SAP AII, SAP EM and a data repository for storing RFID events happening across the supply chain)
Scope of XI here is quite important.
You will integrate SAP AII to backend R/3 using SAP XI
You will integrate SAP AII with SAP OER using SAP XI
You will integrate SAP AII and SAP EM within SAP OER with SAP XI.
To learn more about RFID in general and the domains it is being used and useful for you can also look into:
    http://www.bridge-project.eu/
Here you can find a free software deliverable which explains very well how RFID works in warehouses and distrbution centers. Once this is done, you can easily transcend to learn SAP AII and SAP EM
To find basic documentation on SAP AII please refer:

  • DB Adapter Polling control

    Hello,
I am working on the an Integration that uses a DB adapter for polling a table. BPEL process is working as expected. We have some requirements to stop the table polling during some time frames in month.
Is there a way to program it to stop during certain interval without going to EM console ? I tried wait activity but that still polls the table and then waits.
Or has anyone tried to use polling when BPEL process is called instead of a set frequency.
    Any suggestions appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Satya

    Hi All,
This issue got resolved, I deleted the existing Partner Link based on DBAdapter and re-created a new partner link, and after this the issue got resolved.
    Thanks

  • Polling Mechanism in ODI

We have a requirement where ODI interface should be triggered whenever there is an update on a particular column of a table.
We have around 1 million records in source tables so polling through BPEL takes a while, is there a way it can be done entirely in BPEL?

That tool is commonly used for Journal process... If you use the ODI journal process than that will be the API to check for data change.
If you are able to deal with Logminer there is an excellent set of KM and ODI toll that can help you detect the update at the column without need to create trigger... and with NO QUERY at source... at systems with high transactional access it means a very important gain of performance..
Does it make sense to you?

  • Multiple File Location in Read operation in File Adapter.

    Hi,
I am using File Adapter for Read operation. Normally we would make a Logical Directory for reading files at that location. But I have come up with a scenario where we need to read file from 6 different File locations.
Is there any way that the same BPEL process can read file from 6 different locations.
    OR
Do I need to make 6 BPEL processes to read file from 6 different locations.
I am using Oracle SOA 10.1.3.4 and JDeveloper 10.1.3.4.
Will really appreciate if someone can help in this regard.
    Thanks for the needful.
    Cheers,
    Varun

    Hi Oracler,
    Thanks for your reply.
As suggested, the BPEL process with six different file adapters for six different directories and put them on each of the six branches of the pick activity. Will there be any performance oriented issues if you use six adapters for polling at 6 different locations??
Also, the other solution that you have provided from this link Re: Can we have dynamic folder for Polling in BPEL works fine. One of a problem that I encounter while using this solution is that everytime you do any chnages in your BPEL process, the entries from bpel.xml are missing.
    Thanks for the needful.
    Cheers,

  • How to poll a PL/SQL procedure in BPEL?

    Hi,
Normally in BPEL your start your process flows by receiving an event. You can only create a BPEL instance via a Receive or Pick activity. I have a couple of integrations where I have to continually call a PL/SQL procedure and then call another PL/SQL procedure with the output from the first procedure. This is done by invoking 2 partner links and a While activity. I got this working fine. The problem is how to create the instance. At the moment I start the flow by reading in a dummy file with a Receive event. This works for now but if the process has to be restarted it will not work since BPEL know that it has already read the file.
I have tried to start the flow with a receive activity that calls a PL/SQL procedure but I get the error “Operation is not specified” (http://theheat.dk/bpelDb1.jpg). Normally you would use a Invoke activity when calling a PL/SQL procedure, but when I try that I get an error because I don’t have a receive activity first (http://theheat.dk/bpelDb2.jpg)
So basically I need a way to have a receive activity call a PL/SQL procedure.
I have the exact same problem when I need to continually call a Web Service and send the output to a PL/SQL procedure. Here I need an Invoke activity that calls the Web Service and an Invoke that calls the PL/SQL procedure but to get the flow initiated BPEL wants a receive activity.
    Regards Pete

I found a simple solution that works but I would like to hear if anybody can see any problems with this approach:
I create a dummy table with one row. I create a partner link that polls the dummy table every 5 minutes. The operation on the table is an update, but the Read value and Unread value are the same!
Every 5 minutes BPEL kicks of a process that calls a PL/SQL procedure etc. There will always be a row in the dummy table and as long as my polling interval is longer than the processing time of the flow I will never have more than one process in-flight at a time. This should ensure that the solution is robust.
    Regards Pete

  • FTP Adapter stops polling on updating descriptors in BPEL Console

I have a bpel process activated by a file in a FTP dropzone. An FTP Adapter listens to this dropzone. I have set up a few preferences (Deployment descriptors) for this process. Once when I update any of these user defined preferences, ftp adapter stops polling the dropzone.
    Any idea why this happens?
    Workarounds?

    Hi Shishir,
Bouncing the server working most of the times, which might not be possible all the time in case of production environments ;/
Do you find any errors on the logs when the cube engine and activation loggers are set to DEBUG ?
Could you please mail me your project to [email protected] ?

  • Roll back in Adapter DataBase using Polling | BPEL 11g

    Hello Guys,
I'm having a problem with roll back for polling "Update a field in Table(Logical Delete)" in DataBase Adapter BPEL 11g.
    My process is:
Does polling in the table from the database changed the value in column from 0 for 1 and then put the message on a JMS queue.
    The problem is:
When an exception occurs in the process, for example, exception when posting message in the queue, he does not roll back the database, then the value in the table column is changed to 1 and not 0 as it should.

Could anyone please help me on this.
    Tks,

You need to ensure that your process is working in a single transaction.
You are correctly using the XA datasource.
Next you need to ensure that you do not have a dehydration point in the process and if there is a call to another BPEL process they are in a same transaction.

  • Polling from the database view in BPEL 11g

    Hi,
We do have a requirement of polling from the database view in BPEL 11g. I am exploring the following polling strategies in our case:
    - Delete
    - Logical Delete
In case of Delete polling strategy, can we delete the record as the view does not allow deletion. In this case, do we have any other way to achieve this functionality?
In case of Logical Delete, We have to mark the status column with particular value. how could we achieve the same when the view is not updateable.
In 10g, we can override the delete polling strategy with an update statement. Is it possible in 11g?
    Thanks & Regards

  • Need  file adapter polling with read operation to be triggered by a BPEL without using synchronous read

    The scenario is:-
Web Service Client -->input-->BPEL-->if input valid-->trigger file adapter with read operation--> receive file
i am not able to stop the polling until it is required to trigger the polling.
As soon as i deploy the composite the file adapter starts polling without waiting for input.
Since i am using two receive activities, the second one which is suppose to receive file from file adapter is always showing pending state. (asynchronous callback)

    Hi there,
IMHO the traditional read is used only as inbound operation, that means
that it starts polling the input folder as soon as the composite gets
deployed - which is the same you are experiencing.
In your case you need an outbound operation that needs to be invoked at
a certain moment. I don't know what are the reasons not to use sync
read, but this is the only outbound read operation supported by the
adapter. If you can not use the sync read, then you would have to design
some custom solution where you call a web service or EJB for instance
    that reads the desired files.
Another option I can think of, though have not use personally is using
the adapters programatically in Java - take a look at this blog post as
it seems related to this topic -
    https://technology.amis.nl/2012/01/22/using-the-oracle-weblogic-technology-adapters-with-custom-java-message-driven-bean-mdb-triggered-by-file-adapter-part-of-the-story/.
    Hope this helps,
    A.
