Poor reception West Kentucky Community and Technical College

I came to Verizon from AT&T a few months ago.  For the most part I have been pleased, however I work at West Kentucky Community and Technical College and the reception here is horrible.  Outside of the buildings you do get signal although it is low quality signal, inside there is next to no signal at all.
Just a couple of miles further in the mall area the signal is maxed out inside or outside.  When I went with Verizon I was told that this area was well covered.
Are there any plans to put a tower anywhere close to a location where thousands of people are weekly?
If not since I am on Edge I can go back to AT&T in Dec but other than this I am satisfied BUT since I am here at least 1/3 of the time it is a major inconvenience.

We want to welcome you to the Verizon family, cryckert. We take great pride in being able to provide service in many more areas than other providers.
We don't have access to information on new towers being implemented. Even though we are not able to guarantee coverage indoors, we do have network extenders to help in those instances http://bit.ly/10FW8pQ.
Areas can also be variably covered due to infrastrutcture, foliage, network congestion.

  • No signal or poor reception in nyc

so the building i work verizon phones are useless inside. no reception at all not. maybe others have the issue in buildings in nyc

We are using Verizon Wireless family plan, and we suffer from poor reception both at home and at work, here at South Hackensack NJ, just 10 minutes away from NYC, one of Verizon's strongest markets. We usually have 1 bar or 2, if we're lucky, and data is usually only 3G, or very slow 4G. It's been like this since we switched to Verizon last year. If we didn't have ongoing contracts, I would've definitely switched to another carrier (T-Mobile and AT&T have excellent reception for both data and voice).
I hope someone looks into this problem we're having at zip code 07606.
    Thanks.

  • Have recently acquired an additional black MacBook, and installed Snow Leopard onto it. Trying to get it to connect via a plug-in USB wifi unit (poor reception on Airport) I have an extra Network Location which does not work.  How can I remove it?

Need to get a second hand black MacBook connected.  Poor reception on Airport so tried a plug in wifi aerial. That didn't work, but now have  a Network Location I can't get rid of.  How do I remove it ?

    Hello my ginger,
I tried what you suggested - but to no success.  The problem came up when I was re-entering the new settings.  If I left it as using DHCP it would run for a few seconds with no IP address, then drop in a 169.254 one which would not connect through.  To overcome this I tried using the 'Using DHCP with manual address' option and entered in an address which it had set up from the clone boot.  This appeared to be okay.  When I then tried renewing DHCP lease sometimes that address held.  When I tried connecting though - no sight of the internet, and the exclamation mark was across the wifi icon in the menu bar. If I switched it to Using DHCP it would randomly fall back to the 169.254 address.
The only significant differences I could see when cross checking all the settings info was in the WINS panel the NetBIOS had a slightly different configuration of the name - but as they ended in the same numbers I assumed they were the same.  And, when looking under Keychain Access, in the System section list (it also appeared in the login section) additional info box they had different locations - 28 characters in four groups.  I don't have a clue what this refers to.  Also the allow access list in the boot clone included System Preferences, but did not in the Snow Leopard boot, so I added it in.  With no success.
I am so frustrated I am thinking of giving up.  I seen have loads of postings on the net about a variety of problems with wifi connection on Snow Leopard.  I have version 10.6.3.  Did it get any better in later Snow Leopard ?  Or in any of the OS s after that ? It was always so easy and so solid under Leopard - why the h**l did they change it ?

Hi sandrabaugh, I have a Droid Maxx. Are you somewhere that would cause physical interference? Perhaps in a building or location. That has a lot of concrete walls, metal, glass, or near any electronic equipment or computer router type of things? Is it isolated to one particular place, or where ever you use the Droid Maxx?

  • Complaint - Poor Customer Service in Store and Inconsistent Communication

I am writing on this discussion board in hopes that my complaint will be reviewed and communicated to those in a position to make a change so that other Verizon customers will not have to experience what I did yesterday. On June 24, 2013, I had an exceptionally bad experience with Verizon. My iPhone 4S completely shut itself off while I was reading an email on my way into work. It had a full charge and I wasn't doing anything differently with it, simply scrolling through emails before it shut down. When I got into work, I attempted to connect it to my charger to see if it would recognize it, which it did not.
On my lunch break, I went to the closest Verizon store to my office, located at 209 S LaSalle St., Chicago, IL 60604 (312.658.3900) to speak with them about my options. They looked at the device and informed me that thye couldn't read anything from it. They also noted that there was no water damage and the device was intact - no cracks or anything of that nature. Knowing that my upgrade date was a mere 22 days away, I asked if there was any way they could please bump it up so that I could upgrade to the iPhone 5 and have a working phone. John-Paul, the individual who I spoke with, informed me that I could go to the Apple store and see if they could help revive the phone, and if not, I could call Customer Service (800.922.0204) and ask if they could bump up my upgrade date because, "Customer Service are the only ones who can do that."
In order to be proactive, and knowing that I might not have a working phone to call Customer Service with later last night, I went back to my office and called  Customer Service to see what my options were. I spoke with an individual named Gabby at around 12:30 PM - 1 PM CT who was very helpful. She was baffled that the store hadn't helped me since there was a Corporate offer (Eligible Device Offer Upgrade) taking place throughout all of Verizon which offered customers the opportunity to upgrade for the discounted price of the phone, so long as they were upgrading from a 3G to 4G device, which I had been trying to do when I went in the store (since my phone is a 3G and the iPhone 5 is 4G by default). She asked for the store's contact information that I had just been in and put me on hold while she called them and told them that I was eligible for an upgrade and could receive the iPhone 5 at the upgrade price. She informed me that she had spoken to John and that he had located the promotion code, and suggested I go back to the store before he left for the day since he was the individual she had spoken with about my particular situation.
I immediately walked back to the store and found the John she spoke with << Full name removed >> and he was very helpful. I confirmed that I could upgrade to the iPhone 5 at the upgrade price, knowing there was an additional standard $30 upgrade fee, in addition to taxes and insurance. When he went to get me the phone, however, he informed me he had just sold the last black one of the GB size I needed. He informed me that another store in Chicago had 9 iPhone 5 devices in black in the GB size I was looking for.
I left work at 5:45 pm CT and walked to the Verizon store located at 36 S State St., Chicago, IL 60603(312.726-8277) to purchase my  upgrade. However, upon entering the store, I was immediately told they couldn't promise me anything and that they might not be able to upgrade me for the price I was quoted, but instead, only shave off $50 from the phone. I asked to call and speak with a Customer Service rep while in the store since I had been told earlier in the day, by a Verizon Customer Service rep, that there was an Eligible Device Offer Upgrade promotion currently taking place that I could take advantage of that would allow me to purchase the iPhone 5 at the upgrade price. I was troubled to hear that the Customer Service rep on the phone was now telling me something differently - in fact, there was no promotion, and the only promotion I could take advantage of was the one in which $50 would be shaved off the phone's full price. I asked the individual who was assisting me at the store to call the LaSalle Street store to see if they still had the iPhone in the size I needed in white (at this point, I didn't care about the color, so long as I had a working phone) while I continued to speak with Customer Service. I was told by the CSR on the phone that it is each store's manager's individual choice to decide if they can override the upgrade date, which I told her I had been told the EXACT opposite in the LaSalle St. store earlier in the day by John-Paul. She explained that individuals in Customer Service have much more extensive training than those in the store, implying John-Paul might have misunderstood the policy. However, I asked her if they received such excellent training (and I would have to assume the same training), then why was I being told something completely different than what I had been told by a Customer Service Rep earlier in the day. I was obviously frustrated at this point as I'd been given the ring-around all day and still had no working phone, which again, was NOT my fault - the device simply died.
I hung up with Customer Service and was informed that the LaSalle St. store had now told the State St. store they didn't remember telling me they would be able to upgrade me at the promotional price, and had only said they would give me $50 off the phone. I was more than upset at this point as I had clarified three different times the total cost of the phone while I was at the LaSalle St. store earlier in the day, and they had confirmed it would be the promotional price. A manager at the State Street store informed me I had three choices: buy the iPhone 5 at the full price and they would only shave off $50; go to the Apple store and see if they could fix the phone; or buy the iPhone 5 with a music bundle. Know that the price of option one was out of the question, I asked how much my third option was, and after looking over my outfit, the handbag on my wrist, and the jewelry I was wearing, he asked me, "How much did you bring to spend?" I was appalled that he had the gall to even ask this and told him that I had brought in enough to cover the price of the phone at the promotional price that was quoted to me by a CSR, as well as an individual in the LaSalle St. store. He told me he couldn't help me and suggested I go to the Apple store to see what they could. When I brought to his attention that the phone had simply died and not due to anything I had done, and my upgrade date was only 22 days away, and the most recent CSR rep I had spoken to said that it was up to the individual manager's discretion to override the upgrade date, the manager tried to tell me the exception to that rule was the iPhone. I was utterly flabbergasted since every conversation I'd had was either in person (where an individual could see me with my current iPhone 4) or on the phone where I stressed I had the iPhone 4S and wanted to upgrade to the iPhone 5.
I left the store feeling frustrated and disrespected. At the end of the day, I had been strung along by Verizon, being told different things by different people, and quite frankly, was lied to and manipulated by their representatives. I would suggest that respect, communication and customer service be re-evaluated and stressed to those that work for Verizon, no matter the level.

Apple does not allow?? If you or I walked into an Apple Store and plunked down full price they will assist you to no end.  I pay full price for my devices, however when I visit the Apple Store near me the purchase price is something like 16 GB for $199, 32 GB for $299 and 64 GB for $399.   Strange since I don't purchase on contract and pay the $700 out right. Me thinks Verizon is trying to get my Unlimited Data and lock me into a contract. However that is not going to happen. So sorry Verizon   I have been looking at T-Mobile as of late. Was thinking of putting my emergency phone on their network just to try it out.

  • Horrible reception in the house and spotty reception outside?!

Our wireless reception is horrible in the house. We cannot hold calls at all. We typically have to dash outside to take/make a call. Even then, the outside reception in the yard tends to be spotty. We have to walk around and watch for bars. We noticed a problem when we moved into the house almost 2 years ago but it seems to be worse now. We have also noticed over the past several months that our phones switch over to 3G when we are on one end of the house. They did not do that in the past so I don't understand what the problem is. It is eating up our data. We do not have a land line and rely on our cells for work purposes. The lack of coverage is a huge frustration that we would like to see resolved. We live in the 23061 area. Please help!

    Hello Sir,
I apologize for not responding to your email in a timely manner.I read it, told myself I'd reply later and then promptly forgot. We noticed when we moved into the home in November of 2011 that the reception was not as strong as it was in our previous house. It was possible to answer and make calls at some places throughout the house while other spots would drop the call almost immediately or communication would fail with the person on the other end hearing what we said but us not being able to hear them. We would hang up and try again at another spot in the house.
For the last year, at least, we have noticed that there are now only a couple places in the house that will hold the call for any time at all now. In those couple of places, it is almost impossible to finish a conversation without the line going dead on our end. We then are forced to step out onto the front porch or the back deck to place/answer a call (which is such a pain in the rain and the cold!). This is still not a perfect solution because certain places in these locations also have poor reception and the call will drop. I go outside, watch for the bars to be favorable, place the call or answer and stand as still as possible in hopes that the call won't drop. As you would probably imagine, this is very irritating for us as this is our work and home contact for the entire family.
Any way you could help us would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Holly

  • Another HP Customer Escalations Team Lack of Communication and Warranty Replacement

I have been dealing with issues on my under warranty laptop for the past six months and have had nothing but problems with HP services. I love my laptop and everyone has been very very nice to me, but nothing is being done. I was supposed to receive a box to ship in my laptop to be diagnosed after two technicians could not fix my overheating, touchscreen, USB, and finger scanner issues. The box was supposed to arrive yesterday because I am leaving the country. I never have time to be without my laptop because I am in full time school however I have a week break during this semester change and this was the only time for me to work this out. I am just at the end of my patience here and so I tried sending an email to the Americas Escalation Management Team with this mesage:
    Hello,
I have been in touch with my case manager Catherine regarding my situation over the past couple of weeks. My laptop issues have been going on for over 6 months but I have not been able to send in my laptop to be looked at because I am in full time school. HP has sent out two technicians to try and repair my problems, the first of which I paid for, but nothing has changed. My laptop is still overheating and certain specs such as the touch screen, USB, and finger scanner are still malfunctioning.
Catherine has been absolutely amazing as far as following procedure and helping me as quickly as possible. I do not blame her for any of my problems but I am still in need of help. Her and I had decided to send me a box to ship in my laptop to the repair "factory" and that box was supposed to come yesterday. As I said, I am in full time school but for 6 days I have a break between semester and I am leaving the country during that time. I needed the box to be here yesterday so that I could send it today and then have it returned to me sometime after I returned for the semester. The box is not here and I am leaving in about five hours. I'm not sure where the information relay was confused but at this point I am just very frustrated with HP's service.
My laptop is still under warranty and until this, I have had zero problems and have absolutely loved my laptop. I just feel like my patience is at the end of the line and I do not know where to go at this point. I do not want to give up and lose hope on HP products and customer service because myself and my family have been HP fanatics since I purchased my first laptop, but after talking with those around and other manufacturers, I just feel like I have been dealt the short end of the stick and I do not know how much longer I can hang around.
I do not know where this email is being sent to but please, help me. If it sounds like I am begging, I am. I have no other options at this point and as pathetic as it sounds, my laptop is my life because it is the center of almost every single class I am enrolled in. I won't beat around the bush so to be frank, I believe I deserve a new laptop after everything that I have been put through. Doing so would be an incredible act of kindness and I only hope that this can be done.
Last thing, this email is in no way meant to talk poorly about my case manager Catherine or anything she has done for me. She has been amazing and very helpful. All I ask is that someone can help me.
    Thank you for you time,
... The emails my case manager has sent me had this email address for me to respond to, [Personal Information Removed] but immediately I receive an email saying that this email address is invalid. I am normally  a very patient person but this is pushing me over the edge and I just need help. Clear communication and help is all I ask for.
Hopefully this forum will push my progress a little bit, but I won't even know because I'm leaving the country in 5 hours! Well HP, please help me.

    williamsBank17:
Yaeh right they fixed it. I have a bridge in Brooken New York I will sell you to. You need to cut it off at HP's tech level and contact HP's excutive office and ask to speak with their boss. He will then give you the direct contacts to Chad's office. HP monitor will not allow me to post any of their HP contacts here in the forun. I am sure they will not like it for writing his name Because HP's forum monitors do HP's do not like me posting HP's top CO's dirrect contact information. When I do they will e-mail me and whipe out the information. The real people to contact and not some India HP tech who speaks very poor English. Chad is Catherine's over all boss. You can even ask her that you would like to speak to her boss. If she puts to her supper visor ask their supper visor to put their boss on the phone keep going up the chain untill you have reached Chad's office. He his the top CO for lap top repair center. Then you know your lap top will be fixed or replace. Do not for get to tell him you can cook an egg on your lap top.
    You are welcome,

  • Use of Business Systems and Technical Systems

    Hi
What is the use of having business systems and technical systems in SAP XI. I don't see any configuration details needed to create these. I understand that it logically divides the interfaces into different business systems but is that the only use? The only place I see the real configuration done is in the adapter configuration.
    Vijay

    Vijay,
The technical system actually works better for our non-SAP systems than the SAP systems. Here is our scenario:
We have an AS400 business system that uses a file adapter to send files to XI and then uploaded to SAP ECC. The file adapter does not ask for the system information so we can switch between dev and test by changing the DNS address in the technical system entry (dynamic reference like a property file lookup). The communication channel settings do not have to change.
The receiver is SAP using an RFC adapter which requires the system ID, and client (hard coded).  Everytime we change clients, we have to change the settings in the RFC adapter. This is more to your point of why do we have a technical system if we have to provide the settings in the adapter as well. The RFC adapter should read the application server and client values from it's parent business system so the changes don't have to be made everytime we point to a new client( such as QA). This is irritating.
So maybe the theory is good but the implementation could be better in this case.
    Thanks,
    Troy

Here are the specs for your HP Pavilion p6144f Desktop Computer. According to the specs, your wireless card supports two (2) antenna connections: 2 internal posts to connect an internal or external antenna. Please verify that there is an antenna or two connected to the 802.11 wireless card. Also, if you are attempting to use 5GHz, consider using 2.4GHz instead. I have tried using 5GHz and the signal doesn't travel very far (example; router down stairs, simultaneous 2.4GHz and 5GHz... phone upstairs, 6 bars on 2.4GHz, 1 bar on 5GHz)

  • IPhone 6 poor reception fixed yet?

I just wanted to know if Verizon has figured out why using Voice and Data results in poor reception quality?
I bought an iPhone 6 and returned it days after because when I enabled Voice and Data over LTE often the best I could get was 1x while trying to use data on a call, and I would often be on 3G most every where. When I switched it back to Data over LTE only, I would get 2 bars, 3 at most. I never sent the command to show the cell signal in db's. I should have.
I have access to a ton of iPhones through work, so I grabbed a couple both Verizon and At&t, and ran some non scientific test. Results were, At&t never had a problem, but of the 3 verizon versions, all of them exhibited the same reception problem. So, it can't be just a bad phone...
Reading the internets, it seems people say to solve the problem just use LTE for data only, replace the phone, and replace the sim. I am sorry that is an unacceptable solution, as I need both data and voice at the same time.
It is not a network coverage issue, as I live within 15 miles from Verizon World Headquarters, and I am neighbors with the CEO (sudo neighbors, live in the same general area)...
Using my Verizon LG G2 with VoLTE, not a single problem. Signal strength is very strong, have always been able to get calls, no dropped calls, etc...
    So, any solution yet verizon?
    Thanks....

    second part...
So, that $500 million and then some check from Uncle Sam to upgrade the infrastructure went to what...also, i would really love to understand why I get charged for text messages (have an old plan, unlimited data though) since it cost ABSOLUTELY nothing to send a text message, its tacked onto the carrier signal of a voice call, that is being transmitted from the tower, and doesn't even have to be Verizons tower.
I put up with Verizon's ridiculous prices and their crippled phones (see verizon bloatware, added Skins/UIs, and root checkers), because the service was always consistently the best. One of the man reasons I like the iPhones, because Verizon can't cripple them...so imagine how thrilled I was to get the new iPhone 6...but only be disappointed because of this problem. I have a Lg G2 because the battery last 2 days for me and I am heavy user...if anyone is wondering. I have an iPhone 6 for work on At&t...so I am not totally upset, just wish my personal phone worked so well.
    Sorry rant over...

Hi there,  i'm new to the iPHONE community and please can someone tell me how to backup my phone to iCLOUD. How do i connect with wi-fi. Must i buy a wi-fi connetion or what.Thank you kind regards

Do you have a wi-fi network in your home ? If you do then you should be able to connect your phone to it via Settings > Wi-Fi on your phone - that should show any networks that are available, and tapping on the network that you want to use (and typing in its password if it's password protected) should connect the phone to it. If you don't have a wi-fi network then yes, you will need wifi router in your home, which is connected to the internet (e.g. via your phone line) to be able to back up your phone to iCloud.
