Portability problem for XSL stylesheet

Hi,
I created a xsl stylesheet and a java program which just do the normal xml transformation. however, they works fine in my windows XP environment, but once i move them to my Red hat (linux) environment, they stop working... why this happening? from the exception error, the problem occurs when the stylesheet is loaded. some friends suggest that i should try to use different xslt processors, but how should i do this in the run time?
(I am currently using Xerces2.6.2 to vaildate xml file and do the transformation)
Thanks for any help

You should look at the stacktrace from the exception and fix your problem based on what you see there.
Or you could post it here so we don't have to guess...

  • Cache problem for included stylesheets on remote server

    Hi.
    We are building an XSL page that includes changing named templates through xsl:includes where the included stylesheet is on a remote server.
    The content of the remote stylesheet can change at any time. The problem is that the Oracle XSLT caching mecanism does not "see" this, so we get the old page..
    How can we turn the caching off? Is it possible to turn caching off for selected stylesheets?
    Any clues or pointers?
    Regards
    Lionel

    I by no means want to sound belittling... so don't take me that way..
    You need to understand the basics of files, and networks. You can't check if a file exists on another machine if you don't have a network protocol to communicate with. The reason \\ works under windows is because you are using an invisible (to you) network protocol. You probably know it as windows sharing. If your file were not shared under it's own name, that method wouldn't work (I'm assuming your entire drive is shared without a password... a horrible security flaw...but one thing at a time)
    You can use FTP protocol to check if a file exists. You can either send the raw text FTP commands through a socket connection in java, or you can use a freely available FTP java API to make it a bit more simple. You could also write a small java server on the other machine, and have it tell you what you need to know with a socket connection. In this way, you have created your very own network protocol.

  • Problem for XSL copying  XML file with Error in expression '*|/'.

    Hi,
    I am trying to convert xml file to another xml through command-line interface but failed.

  • XMLForm problem with XSL Stylesheet

    Hello all,
    I've been asked to have a look at a problem that a friend is having with XMLForms. They have recently upgraded to NW04 SP11 (from NW04 SP9) and now they cannot 'Create New' for each of the XML forms that they based on 'SAP Demo News'. They also cannot create new 'SAP Demo News'.
    In each of their *Edit.xsl forms there is the line
    <xsl:include href="wcm://etc/xmlforms/htmledit/htmledit.xsl" />
    When they try to 'Create New' for any of these forms they get the following error
    com.sapportals.wcm.WcmException:
    Could not load stylesheet.com.sap.engine.lib.xml.util.NestedException:
    Could not resolve: 'wcm://etc/xmlforms/htmledit/htmledit.xsl'
    base: '/etc/xmlforms/Company_General/Company_GeneralEdit.xsl'
    -> javax.xml.transform.TransformerException:
    Error downloading from URL: wcm://etc/xmlforms/htmledit/htmledit.xsl,
    No user in context
    that is just the first line but I believe that it is the important line. The portal seems to be unable to access 'htmledit.xsl' and perhaps because there is no user in context.
    Has anyone come across this or know of a solution?
    Thanks in advance,
    Patrick.
    EDIT.
    I see that this is directly related to having a HTML Editor on the form. When I remove that component the form works, when I re-add that component it all falls over again.
    Any ideas?

    Hi Patrick,
    I got a response from SAP. The problem was that there were two anonymous users both in ADS and in the DB.
    The following procedure fixed it:
    The problem is that there are 2 anonymous users both in DB as in ADS.
    To solve this, please add the following entries in the ConfigTool, UME
    LDAP data, Additional LDAP properties:
    ume.ldap.blocked_users(global) = ....,anonymous
    ume.ldap.blocked_accounts(global) = ....,anonymous
    Restart the engine if already started.
    These changes force to use the user “anonymous” from the DB.
    Hope this helps for you!
    Thanks for rewarding!

  • Problem applying XSL template for Hash calculation.

    Hi,
    This may not be exactly a Java problem,
    I got a problem removing whitespaces in XML via XSL.
    My XSL:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
    <xsl:stylesheet version='1.0' xmlns:xsl='http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform' xmlns:ns1="http://www.serverurl.inf/patterns/dss/schemas">
         <xsl:output method = "text" indent="no" encoding="ISO-8859-1"/>
         <xsl:strip-space elements="*"/>
    <xsl:template match="/"><xsl:value-of select="normalize-space(/ns1:messageDSS/ns1:header)"/>
    <xsl:value-of select="normalize-space(/ns1:messageDSS/ns1:body)"/>
    </xsl:template>
    </xsl:stylesheet>This XSL woks fine until I got Strings with duplicate spaces within, like:
    <!-- xml fragment -->
       <ns1:tagA>Aaa Aaa</ns1:tagA>     <ns1:tabB>Bb Bbb</ns1:tagB>
       <!-- will be transformed to:  Aaa AaaBb Bbb -->
       <ns1:tagC>Cc  ccc</ns1:tagC>   <ns1:tagD>Ddd    DD</ns1:tagD>
       <!-- will be transformed to: Cc cccDdd DD -->
       <!-- but should be transformed to: Cc  cccDdd    DD -->
       <!-- the within string repeating spaces are removed, and this is not what I want. -->Thanks for any help.

    I don't think XSLT/XPath 1.0 has any built-in or easily accessible way to trim the strings the way you want. With XSLT/XPath 2.0 you can use replace(foo, '^\s+|\s+$', ''). With XSLT/XPath 1.0 you will need to check whether an extension function supported by your XSLT processor allows a similar regular expression based replacement or you will need to write your own template trimming the spaces.

  • Expert in xsl - stylesheets for unicode (UTF8)

    Hi,
    I am looking for an expert in xsl-stylesheets for unicode (UTF-8 format) in order to check the syntax of a stylesheet for the browser-based PI-Sheet in SAP ERP PP-PI.
    Can you advise someone ?

    Hi Kannan,
    thanks for your answer!
    Unfortunately this problem is a bit more tricky.
    We are looking for so. who really can check the syntax of ~ 1.000 lines of XSL coding. The problem is that it cannot be converted to UTF8 because of syntax errors.
    => Do you have an idea who could help here?

  • Howto add static text in xsl stylesheet

    Hi,
    I'am having problems trying to write a static text to a fixed length file using the file adapter.
    I'am using the FlatStructure sample provided.
    When I run the sample, there's no problem... But when I remove the mapping from tns:State <-> fix:State (in addr1Toaddr2.xsl) and change the fix:State to a static text (Set Text option in right mouse popup menu) then this text will NOT show up in the written fixed length file.

    greetings,
    Jan.

    Hi ,
    I am assuming you are using Oracle JDeveloper XSL Mapper for designing the XSL. Currently , our XSL Mapper has a limitation due to that whenever you add any static text to target node in mapper, it adds an extra "\n" with that static text. And so our Native format translator doesn't find the definition for that and that's why it doesn't get printed in the file.
    Workaround [although little painful] is remove those extra "\n" after you finish your XSL design.
    We are working to fix this issue asap.
    HTH.
    Thanks,
    Rakesh

  • Problem for using oracle xml parser v2 for 8.1.7

    My first posting was messed up. This is re-posting the same question.
    Problem for using oracle xml parser v2 for 8.1.7
    I have a sylesheet with
    <xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/TR/WD-xsl">.
    It works fine if I refer this xsl file in xml file as follows:
    <?xml-stylesheet type="text/xsl" href="http://...../GN.xsl"?>.
    When I use this xsl in pl/sql package, I got
    ORA-20100: Error occurred while processing: XSL-1009: Attribute 'xsl:version' not found in 'xsl:stylesheet'.
    After I changed name space definition to
    <xsl:stylesheet xmlns:xsl="http://www.w3.org/1999/XSL/Transform" version="1.0"> in xsl file, I got
    ORA-20100: Error occurred while processing: XSL-1019: Expected ']' instead of '$'.
    I am using xml parser v2 for 8.1.7
    Can anyone explain why it happens? What is the solution?

    Steve,
    We are also creating an XML DOM from java and are having trouble getting the tags created as we want. When we use XMLText it creates the tag as <tagName/>value rather than <tagName>value</tagName>. We want separate open and close tags. Any ideas?

    Every time I add transform process activity and try to create mappings I am not able to save them.
    In source view I see this error "Required attribute version missing from element xsl:stylesheet".
    I cannot continue and do not understand how to proceed.
    Any ideas ?

    We have the same problem here from time to time. This has to be some kind of bug in JDeveloper. There is nothing wrong with our xsl files! But for some reason JDeveloper complains about the version attribute of xsl:stylesheet which in all the cases I've seen IS THERE!
    Sometimes restarting JDeveloper helps - sometimes not. I even ended up reinstalling JDeveloper a few times.
    I hoped this would be fixed in 10.1.3.3 (we use 10.1.3.2) but sadly it's not it seems.

  • Using xsl stylesheet with List View Web Part to display custom text

    Hi
    i have an xsl stylesheet with sharepoint listview webpart. The list view shows some items based on a filter. I want to display custom text such as "No Items" when there are zero items in the list view using the xsl stylesheet. How do i achieve
    this. I have spent hours searching but couldnt find the exact answer. Please help me out. I am a light user not a hard core developer so I dont use Visual Studio. Thanks in advance

    Hi
    I have customised the list view webpart using a custom xsl file by including it in the xsl link of the list view webpart. So i think i need to include the condition in the xsl file itself else it wont work. Since the list view webpart isnt using the default
    xsl. Please let me kknow if you have any idea about including a condition in xsl to check if there are not items in view.
    The code of the xsl is included below.
