Portal Configuration 9.0.1.1.1 using  9iAS 1.02.2.2a -Fails

Hi
I have installed 9iAS minimal edition on 9.0.1.1.1 on SE edition database on windows 2000. I have problem configuring Oracle Portal. After the initial screen once I pass the sys password and hostname:port:sid, the configuration assistant fails returning error 'can't connect to the database'. I am 100% confident that all the parameters I have passed are right and database is up&running . Apache server is listening on right port.
This is high prioirty . Any help appreciated. I have opened a TAR too.
Thanks

I have gone through the same problem (several times), but because I was using a test machine I ended up uninstalling Oracle9i & installed Oracle8i and was immediately able to connect to the database. Now I think that I could have kept Oracle9i and set the init parameter (07_DICTIONARY_ACCESSIBILITY = true).
Try that & good luck

Currently we have ISE 1.2 configured using a multi-portal configuration.  We use a guest portal for both Guest Access and for devices we consider non-compliant employee.  Guest users are authenticated against an inernal user database in ISE, and the company owned devices auth against AD.  If we login with a guest account that was created using the sponsor portal, we do not get the acceptable usage policy to check before getting access. If we login using the AD account, we do get the Acceptable Usage Policy to check before getting access.  It appears this is the same portal, so why do we not get it for both?

How to configure Oracle 10g Advanced Security to use SSL concurrently with database User names and passwords
In Oracle Advanced Security Documentation it is mentioned that i can use SSL concurrently with DB user names and passwords. But when i configure the client certificate on the client my DB connection is getting authenticated using the certificate, which out passing user id or password.
We want to connect to Oracle DB over SSL channel so that the data packets are not in clear text. Also we want the user to make a connection using user id and password.
Basically we want SSL with out authentication.

    Tks in advance!

There has been some confusion around certification on SE over the past week. I want to clarify the situation.
We discovered an issue with the Portal on SE last week. We inadvertently used function based and bitmapped indexes (EE only features). This issue has been masked to date because the install proceeded normally after the errors were raised. In 3.0.9 we made the install more strict in that it will stop by default if it hits an unexpected error.
On further research, we have determined that these errors have little or no impact on the general functioning of the product and as such are maintaining the position that Portal 3.x is indeed certified on 8.1.7
    Standard Edition.
There is unfortunately a necessary work around to the install issue (which we will rectify as soon as possible). In order to install on SE, you must execute the Oracle Portal Configuration Assistant (OPCA) from
the command line and specify the "verbose" mode (see next post). In this mode, the errors are ignored and the install proceeds appropriately.

    btw,

    1. Install MT BI software on Machine B (ignoring opca errors done OK).
    2. Install Infrastructure metadata repository at Machine C (db v90150 done OK).
    3. Implement the metalink://note.276688.1 (in process, report follows).
    btw2,
JAVA$CLASS$MD5$TABLE is only table absent in RepCA's portal schema (in comparing with usual way installation). Treated it as a "version table" by opca?

  • Oracle Portal Configuration Assistant will not connect

I am attempting to install an Oracle Portal 9iAS with the software provided in the book "Application Server Portal Handbook" by Seve Vandivier and Kelly Cox.
Ok, all goes well until I get to the Portal Configuration Assistant. I want to connect to the database (on a different box over the network) and install the repository.
No go. I cannot login. I know the password for SYS. but the connect descriptor it is looking for should be noodle:1521:fastdb (noodle is the host, 1521 the port, fastdb the SID).
I cannot figure out why this does not connect. If I open a SQLplus window on this computer, I can connect successfully, although this would use a TNS connection, which is not the same.
So, where am I going wrong?????
One more clue, the book talks about connecting to an Oracle 8i database, and I am trying to connect to an Oracle 9i database. Does this matter???
    Any help would be appreciated!

Assuming you are installing 9ias Rel1 with portal 309.
Apply the RDBMS 8.1.7.4 patch to the 9ias Oracle Home and re-run the configuration assistant. It's been awhile since I've had to install Rel1, but that was the fix when we last asked oracle about it.

Can anyone please help me out...why is Oracle9iAS so
complicated as against the other commercial servers????
    TIA
    Clement

    Hi Clement,
If you are using 9iAS 10221, You can install J2EE by choosing
the Core Installation Type, which is the first installation
type. It's so easy to install Core (which contains J2EE, Apache
and Webcache). And takes around 15 minutes.
If you are using 10220, it doesn't contain J2EE. So you may want
to upgrade to 10221 for your need. You'll find installation
for Core fast and easy. Hope it helps your need.
    Thanks,
    yuning

Mike, the short answer is that I recommend you have a read of the white paper "Oracle9iAS Portal Configuration Options" which can be found on Technet at http://technet.oracle.com/docs/products/ias/doc_library/1022doc_otn/portals.102/a90096/toc.htm.
The long answer is really long so I'll make a few comments. I'm a bit confused that you say that you can click on the "Mod PLSQL configuration menu" from the "http://myhost.mycompany.com/pls/portal30" page. Normally you would access the "Mod PLSQL configuration menu" from the default 9iAS HTTP Server page of "http://myhost.mycompany.com" so I'm assuming you made a typo with your cut and paste. A few suggestions would be:
    1. Can you get to the http://myhost.mycompany.com page from outside the firewall?
    2. Can you then click on the "Mod PLSQL configuration menu" and get to the 'Gateway Configuration Menu' page?
Getting to 1. is just talking to the Apache listener in 9iAS, however once oyu try to access 2. you must go through the Single Sign On Server and login. If you can;t get to the login page then you should rerun the ssodatan script as detailed in the above paper to make sure that all your configuration is correct.
    Hope this helps,
    Mick.

  • BAM Portal configuration error in BizTalk Server 2013 R2

I have tried 2 attempts to build out a BizTalk Server 2013 R2, I have followed the MSDN Install instructions, and I keep on getting an error when configuring BAM Portal. I have the logfile available, I need to know what the experts need to see in order to
give me an answer. Understand that we have been using BizTalk Server 2013 for the last two years, and a new developer wants the R2 version and BAM Portal configured. As an administrator I have fought this to no end, and now I have enough evidence to go back
to our project manager and explain why you do not install every feature on a server. Prove me wrong EXPERTS!

" I need to know what the experts need to see in order to give me an answer."
    Experts needs:
    1) Little background of the issue you are facing.
    2) The log file generated.
    3) The configuration of your server.
"now I have enough evidence to go back to our project manager and explain why you do not install every
    feature on a server."
Disagree, It is indeed possible to install all the components and feature on a server. Somewhere someone would have installed BizTalk 2013 R2 and all its components in exactly same server configuration successfully in which you are trying to achieve, the
only difference could be a missing Package, Patch, Cumulative Update, Service or any configuration miss at your end.

  • Trying to configure a Win 2003 Server to use TLS server authentication . . .

    I am trying to
configure a Win 2003 Server to use TLS server authentication following Method 2 in KB 895443 - see below:-
Method 2: By using the Certificate Request Wizard
The following steps describe how to obtain a certificate from a Windows Server 2003 Certification Authority. You can also request a certificate from a Windows 2000
Certification Authority. Additionally, you must have Read permissions and Enroll permissions on the certificate template file to successfully request a certificate. Use this method if one or more of the following conditions are true:
You want to request a certificate from an Enterprise Certification Authority.
You want to request a certificate that is based on a template where the subject name is generated by Windows.
You want to obtain a certificate that does not require administrator approval before the certificate is issued.
To obtain a certificate, follow these steps:
Click Start, click Run, type mmc, and then click OK.
On the File menu, click Add/Remove Snap-in.
Click Add, click Certificates, and then click Add.
Click Computer account, and then click Next.
If you want to add a certificate to the local computer, click Local computer. If you want to add a certificate to a remote computer, click Another
computer, and then type the name of that remote computer in the Another computer box.
    Click Finish.
In the Add Standalone Snap-in dialog box, click Close, and then click OK in the Add/Remove
    Snap-in dialog box.
Under Console Root, click Certificates (Local Computer).
Note If you configured the Certificates MMC snap-in to manage a remote computer, click Certificates (servername)instead of Certificates (Local Computer).
On the View menu, click Options.
In the View Options dialog box, click Certificate purpose, and then click OK.
In the right pane, right-click Server Authentication, point to All Tasks, and then click Request New Certificate.
In the Certificate Request Wizard that starts, click Next.
In the Certificate types list, click Server Authentication, click to select the Advanced check box,
    and then click Next.
In the Cryptographic Service Providers list, click Microsoft RSA SChannel Cryptographic Provider.
I get as far as step 11 and I get the error message:-
The wizard cannot be started because of one or more of the following conditions:
    - There are no trusted certification authorities (CAs) available.
    - You do not have the permissions to request certificates from the available CAs.
    - The available CAs issue certificates for which you do not have permissions.
This is covered in KB 927066 – see below:-
To resolve the problem, follow these steps:
Verify that the CERTSVC_DCOM_ACCESS group exists in the domain that hosts the certification authority. This group is in the CN=Users container.
To do this, follow these steps:
    Click Start, click Run,
type Dsa.msc, and then click OK.
In the left pane, click the Users container.
Verify that the CERTSVC_DCOM_ACCESS group is in the right
pane. If the CERTSVC_DCOM_ACCESS group is not in the right pane, go to step 4.
Verify that the CERTSVC_DCOM_ACCESS group includes the following member groups:
    Domain Users
    Domain Computers
If these member groups do not exist in the CERTSVC_DCOM_ACCESS group, go to step 4.
Note If users or computers in other domains need to enroll against the certification authority, you must also add those users and computers to the CERTSVC_DCOM_ACCESS group. If the current problem occurs on a domain
controller, you must also add the Enterprise Domain Controllers group to the CERTSVC_DCOM_ACCESS group. By default, domain controllers are not members of the Domain Computers global group. Therefore, domain controllers
do not have sufficient DCOM permissions.
Verify that the CERTSVC_DCOM_ACCESS group has the appropriate DCOM Access permissions and DCOM Launch and Activation permissions on the computer that hosts the certification
    authority.
    Click Start, point to Program,
point to Administrative Tools, and then click Component Services.
    Expand the Component Services node.
    Expand the Computers node.
Right-click the My Computer node, and
    then click Properties.
    Click the COM Security tab.
    Under Access Permission, click Edit
    Limits.
Verify that the CERTSVC_DCOM_ACCESS group has Allow Local Access and Allow
Remote Access permissions, and then click Cancel.
Under Launch and Activation Permissions, click Edit
    Limits.
Verify that the CERTSVC_DCOM_ACCESS group has Allow Local Activation and Allow
Remote Activationpermissions, and then click Cancel.
Click Cancel, and then close the Component
    Services console.
Settings may be incorrect if any one of the following conditions is true:
The CERTSVC_DCOM_ACCESS group does not exist.
The default membership of the CERTSVC_DCOM_ACCESS group is incorrect.
The CERTSVC_DCOM_ACCESS group does not have the correct permissions.
If any one setting is incorrect, run the following commands at a command prompt. Press ENTER after each command.
    certutil -setreg SetupStatus -SETUP_DCOM_SECURITY_UPDATED_FLAG
    net stop certsvc
    net start certsvc
Repeat steps 1 through 3 to verify that all the settings are correct.
Note If the changes affect the group membership of the certification authority server, you must restart the server for the changes to take effect.
The only part of the above instructions which I have not been able to complete is:-
“you must also add the Enterprise Domain Controllers group to the CERTSVC_DCOM_ACCESS group”.
When I click on the CERTSVC_DCOM_ACCESS user then click the Members tab & go to add Enterprise Domain Controllers the option is not there.

    Hi Nick,
Have you successfully set up an enterprise CA?
If yes, is the enterprise CA’s certificate located under the Trusted Root Certification Authorities store?

    // Change to pulse mode
    ret = DAQmxExportSignal( task_, DAQmx_Val_CounterOutputEvent, "/Dev1/Ctr0InternalOutput" );
    errorMsg(ret);
    // Start the counter
    ret = DAQmxStartTask(task_);
    errorMsg(ret);
The above code works fine, in toggle mode, if I just comment out the DAQmxExportSignal() part.
    HELP!!!
    Stefan

The problem is due to the DAQmxExportSignal call.  By default, when you create a counter output pulse train task, the driver will automatically set the output of the counter to toggle when the count for each high ticks and low ticks expire.  The driver also automatically routes the signal present at Ctr0InternalOutput terminal (the output of the counter internal to the device) to the Ctr0Out terminal (the I/O pin available externally).  Using the line
     ret = DAQmxExportSignal( task_, DAQmx_Val_CounterOutputEvent, "/Dev1/Ctr0InternalOutput" );
will tell the driver to tristate the Ctr0Out terminal and not output the signal to the external I/O pin.  Using the DAQmxExportSignal function is generally only useful if you want to route the signal to some other terminal internal to the board without having the output show up on the external connector, route the signal to some other external pin other than the default pin, or if you want to have the output show up at multiple locations.
If you want to change the output behavior from toggle to pulse, you need to use the DAQmxSetExportedCtrOutEventOutputBehavior function.  However, this is generally only useful if all you care about are edges (not the duty cycle of the pulse train), and you want to generate higher frequency signals.  For example, with a 20 MHz timebase as the source of your counter, you can only generate a 5 MHz pulse train by default.  This is because the minimum value for the low and high ticks parameter is 2 (20 MHz / 4 = 5 MHz).  By changing the output behavior form toggle to pulse, you can generate a pulse train at 10 MHz since the output is now pulsing instead of toggling.  However, the width of each pulse is not programmable so you will no longer have a 50% duty cycle signal.  I don't remember exactly what the width of each pulse is, but I believe it's in the neighborhood of 50 - 100 nanoseconds in width.  I hope this information helps.

  • Errors Installing Portal Components using 9iAS Enterprise on 8.1.7 SE

We are getting an error installing the Portal Components using
9iAS Enterprise on a 8.1.7 SE database. The log indicates that
    the error is:
ORA-00439: feature not enabled: Function-based indexes
Errors encountered in the Install process. Installation Aborted.
While I know that Function-based indexes are not supported in SE
this should not prevent the installation of Portal.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    Thx, Paul

Its also working in our case where we have used 8.1.7 Enterprise Edition. We installed 9iAS 1.0.2.0 on NT. So if you have any issues regarding this then let me know.

  • How to configure current SQL high availability cluster using mirroring with dedicated replication NICS?

We have a current HA cluster at center1 which is mirrored to another HA cluster in center2.   We have several instances already installed and working which are using one NIC for data and replication.  We want to prevent mirror failovers by
configuring a NIC on a replication network which has no DNS server.   What are the steps to configure the current SQL instances to use this dedicated NIC for mirror replication?

    Hi dskim111,
You can refer the following step by step article to create the dedicated mirroring NIC,
