Portal layout problem

Hi all,
I have implemented a specific table container such that it has only one channel. That specific channel has ChannelHasFrame property set to false.The channle is a JSPProvider channel and displays a website using the iframe tag. Apart from the iframe i see a footer just below it. My question is how can i remove the visible space from the channel. I have emtied the menubar.jsp for the channel yet still i see a blank space about 50 pixels below it. What should i do?

Hello George,
In Portal when you specify the width of the regions in Pixels this is what happens:
It divides a single table into many number of columns (the number of region you specify). When you specify the width of each region in pixels, it is assigned to the TD of the table. Even though all the TDs in the table have a fixed width in pixels the table itself has a width of 100% which forces the table to expand overriding the width of the TDs.
Still you can achieve the desired effect you want. I'm assuming that you are using 10G and here is the solution:
Create a HTML page skin and define a table with a fixed width of 779px. The code will look something like this:

This will force the whole page to be within the defined width of 779px. You can then apply this page skin to the page that you want.
You can create a HTML Page skin in 10g (It is a little bit different in 9i) by navigation to:
Page Groups > Shared Objects > HTML Templates

Urgent: Layout problem in "light inner page"

Hi Experts,
I am facing a problem in portal content area on external facing portal. I see a vertical scroll bar which restricts application from being displayed on entire screen.
I am getting this problem after a patching of EP 7.0, before patching every thing was running fine.
To me it looks like a layout problem in "light inner page", When I use "Light - 1: column (Full width)" layout I get a vertical scroll bar on portal. When I use default layout then this vertical scroll bar disappears but I see an empty navigation bar on left side which is not required.
Can some one advise a solution for this.

Portal is blank after modifying com.sap.portal.layouts.framework

Using SAP EP 7.0 SPS 18 and NWDS 7.0.18
I downloaded the par file com.sap.portal.layouts.framework because I wanted to increase the width of the detailed navigation panel. I imported it into NWDS and in the WAandNavPanel.jsp I modified this line

I then selected 'Quick PAR Upload' from NWDS and selected 'Include the source code of the portal application' and 'Deploy PAR' checkboxes and then deployed.

Hi Marshall,
Just a couple of notes for you:
Changing the SAP namespace to your own/client namespace is a good idea, though you'll need to copy all referenced Portal objects if possible. In addition, every support pack or patch will require you to recreate this PAR file using the original SAP source as the underlying code may have changed.
All that said, the easiest way to check out a change is to make a change directly to the PAR file and upload. I do this when working with a local Portal install (not the development one).
Another point, make sure when you upload it via System Admin/Support/Runtime Tools/Administration Console (or something like that); that you get a valid version number when you upload. If you don't, that indicates something is wrong with the PAR file.
Maybe a test for you would be to take the existing PAR file, and upload it again without modification to see if there's a problem; then do it again, but this time just adding some space or something to the file (no code changes). Keep baby stepping till you work out what code is making the screen go blank for you.

Error: Custom portal layout

i designed a portal layout for my ... portals, tested on my machine and everything was allright but after that I deployed the app on other domain(different computer, different SO, same WLP version) and I discovered an issue when trying to create pages with my layout, cause I couldn't see the controls to handle the content on a placeholder, hen I editedt the layout(just the html.txt) to show one more placeholder, deployed once and for my surprise I could see the controls on the new placeholder but I couldn't on the other one...and I really really do not understand what is happening... any ideas

no it is not the problem, i added that last column just for testing purposes, i thought it was not going to be shown properly but it did, in fact everything is ok in my computer but at the other domain i'm having problems witth one column and i do not understand why cause the last column is jus a copy. of it... maybe the problem is with the placeholder...

CSS Layout Problem?

Can someone please help me with a layout problem.
As far as I can tell the page looks as it should in Netscape,
Firefox, etc., but IE6 and 7 refuse to work correctly.

is behind the picture. I attempted to force the info with a

Layout problem in PDF conversion

Hi all,
i am downloading spool data using the function module CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF. But i am facing layout problem. e.g. RFBILA00(financial statement generation program) has written balancesheet data to the spool. This spool data has some 6 columns. but CONVERT_ABAPSPOOLJOB_2_PDF is writing only first 3 columns to the generated PDF file. i used 'GET_PRINT_PARAMETERS' function module also with values like layout as 'X_65_132' and 'X_90_120'. but no success. if anybody knows the answer, please let me know.

Layout problem - multiple repeating frames

Hi, I have a layout problem, pls help!
Short report description:
- Repeating Frame1 - gives 1 record, contains all other frames, variable vertical elasticity
- - Frame2 - contains all frames beneath - variable vertical elasticity
- - - Frame3 - variable vertical elasticity
- - - - some boilerplates
- - - - Repeating Frame 2 - various number of records, fixed vertical elasticity, height 100
- - - - Repeating Frame 3 - various number of records, fixed vertical elasticity, height 30
- - - - .. other repeating frames ..
When reaching the bottom of a page, and there is not enough room to print a record for Repeating frame 2, a record from Repeating frame 3 is printed in the bottom.
Next page starts with the remaining records from Repeating frame 2.. and then the remaining records from Repeating frame 3.
For example:
Page 1:
Rep frame 2 - Record 1
Rep frame 2 - Record 2
Rep frame 2 - Record 3
Rep frame 3 - Record 1 -- not enough space to print Record 4, so this record is printed
Page 2:
Rep frame 2 - Record 4
Rep frame 2 - Record 5
Rep frame 3 - Record 2
How can i ensure that all records from Rep frame 2 is printed before records from Rep frame 3?

I tried to use anchors, but they had no effect when connecting top of 3 to bottom of 2, got the same layout.
I then tried to create frames with vertical elasticity expand around both rep frame 2 and rep frame 3, and it seems to do the job.

Layout Problem in swings

I have an Layout problem. My Applications consists of a label and a panel in which some more labels are present.
The panel should contain the scrollbar in order to view all the label that excced the size of the panel.This label and a panel should be adjacent to each other.
My problem is, I am not getting the scroll bar to the panel when I am adding the label that excced the size of the panel, when I am adding the label adjacent to this label.

Did you use JScrollPanel? If not, use it.

[solved] layout problem in amarok 2.02

Hi,
Here, I have a bad layout problem with amarok 2.02. Amarok does not fit on my screen which is 1400 pixels large! I cannot reduce the part where the collection is shown. So that it is really unpractical to use.
I uploaded a snapshot to illustrate the problem (it is the full screen!):

Well, I tried amarok2-devel 2.0.90-1 but the problem of graphic layout remains similar, no improvement. Is it normall? Maybe amarok is only available for computer with screen >= 1600x1200 or is there an hidden configuration file where I could tweek this?

Div layout problem

Hi - stuck on what I think should be a fairly basic layout problem:
I have 2 divs, equal widths but varying heights, one floated to the left and one to the right so that they appear next to eachother on the page. The one on the left contains varying amounts of text, the one on the right contains a flash player so never varies.
Where the text for the left div is long, I want it to start off next to the player, but then flow beneath it rather than continuing downwards at the same width as the div. If I remove the width of the left div, so that it reverts to the container width, the player div positions itself below it, so I can't work out how to get the effect.
Can anyone help?

hope I understood in the right way: I used (translated from German DW) "modify table" and so I got one more row and two columns in your Main_Content. In one of the new columns I copied the image and beneath I took the text (you now can replace with image and text of your choice), like this:

What concerns the width of the pictures, I would format them with PS or a similar program in the same wide.

During my projects, I have seen some very impressive and some very unusual attempts in layout. I think this can be very interesting.
Please, do not misunderstand me. I don"t want to solicite portal graphics, I am curious about pushing the limits of portal design.

Pavan,
You do u want to edit com.sap.portal.layouts.framework.par . this pars is only for layouts. If you want to change the width or create a new layout then u can use it.
Deploy the par with different name than satandard name.

I can't create a full .par from a copy of the com.sap.portal.layouts.framework component because when I create the .par for upload it in the portal, this .par file just includes the portalapp.xml. I don't know if there is a restriction in the portalapp.xml, so that the .jsp files are not exported to the par file?
I haven't changed the portalapp.xml, just deleted the components for the layouts that I donu2019t need to modify

Design/Layout Problem in OOTB SP "Docs I'm following" page

Hello
The "Docs I'm following" My Sites page in SP 2013 has the following layout problem:
Long document titles overlap with other elements (see also screenshot).
Note: This is default SP, i.e. we have not deployed any custom branding.
I guess this is a problem which can easily be corrected even without having to wait for a SP update. Since I'm not very good with design changes I would be grateful if you could provide
us with a quick fix, e.g. an updated css file.

IPlanet Portal 3.0 Channel Layout problem

Problem with channel placement
We are currently running iPlanet Portal 3.0 sp5. We have defined channels and tabs for the portals desktop. Here are a few of our settings:
1. Display/Layout = Thin-Thick-Thin
2. We have our tabs defined referencing the channels created in the profile server.
One of the channels defined keeps appearing at the bottom of our right column even though we have set its row attribute to 1 and placed the channel ahead of all the other channels in the tab definition.
Is there anyone out there that has seen this problem? Is there anyone still using Portal 3.0?

Portal 3.0 end of version was 2/11/04 replaced by Portal 6.0. Currently, JES 2005Q1 Portal is 6.3.1. The last Portal 3.0 support will be Aug 13, '05. Your problem sounds like a support call or upgrade 6.3.1. It is free. Jerry
