Portal menu portlet performance problems

I need to extract part of the portal page hierarchy for a menu type
portlet (java), but im having difficulties getting acceptable
performance. I use a "select ... connect by prior" to get several levels
of the page hierarchy in one request like this:
select level, id, parentid, title, type, ispublic, description
from portal.wwpob_page$
where subscriber_id = 1 and siteid = 1 and language = 'us' and is_template = 0
and type not in (3,5,6,7,8,9,10,11) and level <= :paramLevels
start with id = :paramStartPageID
connect by prior id = parentid
However im getting a full table scan on wwpob_page$ in the above select and its
taking several seconds. While i have tried many things i havent had any succes
tuning my way out of it. Can some1 help? Oracle execute plan shown below:
SELECT STATEMENT Optimizer Mode=CHOOSE          1 K          6

Hi,
We have a Site Indexing Portlet available on the Portal Integration Page. This is a free to download and use portlet. We do ship the sourcecode also along with it. You could try looking at the source-code and see if that would help you.
thanks,
Harsha

  • Performance problem with WPF Viewer CRVS2010

    Hi,
We are using Crystal Reports 2010 and the new WPF Viewer. Last week when we set up a test machine to run our integration tests (several hundred) all report tests failed (about 30 tests) with a timeout exception.
    The testmachine setup:
    HP DL 580 G5
    WMWare ESXi 4.0
Guest OS: Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit
    Memory (guest OS): 3GB
    CPU: 1
    Visual Studio 2010
Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2010 with 64 bit runtime installed
    Visual Studio 2008 installed
    Microsoft Office 2010 installed
    Macafee antivirus
There are about 10 other virtual machines on the same HW.
I think the performance problem is related to text obejcts on a report document viewed in a WPF Viewer. I made a simple WPF GUI with 2 buttons and the first button executes a very simple report that only has a text object with a few words in it and the other button is also a simple report with only 1 text object with approx. 100 words (about 800 charchters).
The first report executes and displays almost instantly and the second report executes instantantly but displays after approx. 1 min 30 sec.
And execute in this context means that all VB.Net code runs in the compiler without any exception or performance problem. The performance problem seems to come after viewer.Show() (in the code below) has executed.
I did another test on the second report and replaced the text obejct with a formula field with the same text as the text object and this test executed and displayed the report instantly.
So the performance problem seems to have something to do with rendering of textobjects in the WPF Viewer on a virtual machine with the above setup.
I've made several tests on local machines with Windows XP (32 bit) or Winows 7 (64 bit) installed and none of them have this performance problem. Its not a critical issue for us because our users will run this application on their local PCs with Windows 7 64-bit but its a bit problematic for our project not being able to run all of our integration tests but I will probably solve this by using a local PC instead.
Here is the VB.Net code Im using to View the reports:
Private Sub LightWeight_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs)
            Dim lightWeightReport As New CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument
            lightWeightReport.Load(Environment.CurrentDirectory & "\LightWeight.rpt")
            ' Initialize Viewer
            Dim viewer As LF.LIV.PEAAT.Crystal.Views.ReportViewer = New LF.LIV.PEAAT.Crystal.Views.ReportViewer()
            viewer.Owner = Me
            viewer.reportViewer.ViewerCore.ReportSource = lightWeightReport
            viewer.Show()
        End Sub
Private Sub LightWeightSlow_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.RoutedEventArgs)
            Dim lightWeightReport As New CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument
            lightWeightReport.Load(Environment.CurrentDirectory & "\LightWeightSlow.rpt")
            ' Initialize Viewer
            Dim viewer As LF.LIV.PEAAT.Crystal.Views.ReportViewer = New LF.LIV.PEAAT.Crystal.Views.ReportViewer()
            viewer.Owner = Me
            viewer.reportViewer.ViewerCore.ReportSource = lightWeightReport
            viewer.Show()
        End Sub
The reports are 2 empty default reports with only 1 textobject on the details section.

  • Performance problems with abap report SAPLPRGN_STRUCTURE during users login

    Hello,
after patchimport of SAP BASIS level 21 and SAPABAP level 21 our SAP Production System (ECC6-UNICODE KERNEL 240) denote a performance problems. A lot of ours users during logon phase must wait until 10-12 minutes before that the navigation menu is displayed. The problem is generated by the slow performance of the standard SAP REPORT SAPLPRGN_STRUCTURE that require a lot time.  Any idea?
    Thanks

    Hi Pat,
I would stop SAP and use DLTR3PKG, If this doesn't help, you need to investigate, if it is a CPU or DB-Time issue in ST03. Then you have to handle accordingly ...

  • Performance Problems with Web Layouts in web interface

    Hello Gurus,
We have a a BPS web interface tool which has the following design:
1> A web interface with several tabs
2> Each tab has around 3-4 input layouts which are dependent on each other
3> In all there are 120-140 layouts that the tool uses...
My questions were in term of performance
1> Is there a limit to how many web layouts you can use per page/tab/view or if SAP recommends specific number of web layouts per page/tab/view ?
2> If there is a limitation...our intention was to convert all the display layouts into BW reports so as to increase the performance of the tool....
3> Would like to know the restriction on the number of users who can log into the tool as a specific point of time ? We may have 50-60 minimum using this tool.
I would appreciate your help in this regard.
    Thanks in advance

  • JSP causes serious performance problem in my EP

I have a native JSP application and running it on the EP. This application accessing a Oracle db (using oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver driver).
When this db not running, my EP doesn't open any page. The EP try to connect with this db, but not get success.
I modify this application with TRY and CATCH to treat the application problem, but the EP problem continues.
In the EP Thread Overview (System Adm -> Monitoring -> Portal -> Thread Overview), I see threads (locked) about this application. To unlock this threads, I delete the par file from the Portal and re-deploy it.
When this threads is deleted, the application treat the problem (display a error message in the iView container) and EP work normally.
    My questions:
    1) Exists some way that the problem with this application does not cause performance problems with the EP (via code or property)?
    2) Exists some property in the Config Tool where I configure the connection timeout for access the external DB?
    3) Exists some way to liberate these (locked) threads of the EP (I see the page Clearing the Portal Runtime Cache - http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/d2/a216e1bd7b431c82fa5ff105187112/frameset.htm - but I don't know if I can use it for this)
    I use EP 6.0 SP 15.

  • Serious performance problems on iWeb site

Can anyone help me find the problem with peterlance.com? It looks like author Peter Lance uses iWeb to update his web site. He redesigned it recently (and did not use iWeb for the old design). Anyway, it has serious performance problems on Internet Explorer, which I was hoping you guys could help pinpoint? Is there something simple I can tell him to try to fix the problem? He is launching a new book on Tuesday so he will be getting a lot of traffic, but for now the response time is not very good. Any suggestions?
In particular, each new page seems to hang for about ten seconds and freeze using Internet Explorer 6. Any fixes?
I mean, fixes other than: "Don't use Internet Explorer!"
    http://www.peterlance.com/Peter%20Lance/Home/Home.html
    name="Generator" content="iWeb 1.1.2"

    Welcome to the discussions, TopDog08.
There are several plain .jpg's and that's good, but you need to convert every .png on the page (or as many .png's as you can) to a .jpg. For example,
    http://www.peterlance.com/Peter%20Lance/Home/Homefiles/shapeimage46.png
Convert that to a jpg, then replace the graphic and text on the iWeb page with this converted jpg (some have has success using Downsize http://www.stuntsoftware.com/Downsize/)
The ones you won't be able to do anything about are the ones that are a part of the blog, but that will be only 5 images instead of the many you have now.
    This image
    http://www.peterlance.com/Peter%20Lance/Home/Homefiles/shapeimage50.png
Is covering part of your menu which is why it appears that only the top half is sensitive to rolling over. You'll have to adjust your layout to account for this.
Another area to look at, there are white boxed png's surrounding the amazon book covers at the top.
    http://www.peterlance.com/Peter%20Lance/Home/Homefiles/imageEffectsAboveAli%20Mug%20TPI%20jpg.png
Another set of .png's you'll have to get rid of. How did those get put on the page?
What you see happening with IE is a java script running to fix IE's problem with png's. The fewer .png's you have, the less of a problem with IE you have.

Even it pulls (less records which are ok )
when i checked the R/3 side job log(SM37) the job is running late too. it shows the first and second i- docs coming in less time and the next 3and 4 i- docs comes after 5-7 hrs gap to BW and saving in to PSA and then going to info object.
we have userexits for the data source and abap routines but thay are running fine in less time and the code is not much complex too.
can you please explain and suggest the steps in r/3 side and bw side. how can i can fix this peformance issue

  • SAP SNC Portal DCM screen performance is very slow and times out

    Friends,
SAP SNC Portal DCM screen performance is very slow and times out when user trying to pull data using customer location
What are the cleanup activites we can do to improve the overall SNC performance ?
We did open OSS message but so far no reply from SAP , Is there any one faced performance issue ?
User/vendor is complaining about slowness , query is standard SAP and its taking more time  .(table - /LIME/NTREE) , It looks like number of data are huge causing this problem related to LIME/NTREE table. What are the options to improve the performance ?
    Thanks in Advance
    Hanuman Choudhary

    hi Team,
Pls . note the advise from SAP below, IS there any have experiance of archiveing /LIME records ?
Please advise how to start & what the steps in archiving ?
    Thanks in advance
I had a look at the DCM query performance in PH1 system and figured out
that most of the time is spent at the LIME layer of database. The
following LIME tables are having far too many entries and is causing
the bottleneck during the query execution.
    /LIME/NLOG_QUAN - 38,165,467
    /LIME/PN_ITEM - 19,116,518
    /LIME/PN_ITEM_TB - 19,154,124
These tables are storing the historical information about LIME(stock)
updates. Since these table grow with each change/update of stock
information, it will slow down the performance of the system over a
period of time. And to avoid the slow responses, the tables should
ideally be archived on a periodic basis to keep the data volume as
minimal as possible. You may have to discuss with the Business to
determine the number of days of LIME record you would want to retain
in the system. I would strongly recommend you to consider the LIME
archival retaining the minimum days (<=60 days) of historical
information. You can find more information about the Lime Archival
    in the Sap Help link:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_scm2007/helpdata/en/44/2a83121dde23d1e10000000a1553f7/frameset.htm.
Kindly get in touch with your BASIS consultant for the LIME archival.
The application performance should definitely improve after the LIME
archival. Please do not hesitate to get in touch with me in case you
require any further clarification in this regards.
    Best Regards

  • Yosemite Mail performance problems

I upgraded to OS 10.10 Yosemite this morning. When I opened the new Mail application, I noticed some significant performance problems.
I organize all my emails by conversation (i.e., they display by thread), and I like to expand those conversations on occasion. However, whenever I choose the menu command to expand all conversations (View-->Expand All Conversations), there is a delay between 15-30 seconds for the conversations to expand.
Switching between mailboxes incurs a 2-3 second delay before the mailbox I'm switching to appears in the viewer pane.
Flagging and unflagging messages incurs a 10-15 second delay before the message is flagged or unflagged.
I tried the usual things to fix problems with Mail. All of my mailboxes have been rebuilt, and I also manually re-indexed my mailboxes. I'm running a MacBook Air with a  1.7 GHz Intel i7 processor with 4 GB of RAM. All my mailboxes are run on a Microsoft Exchange Server (which I realize might be the whole or part of the problem, though I didn't have any issues with any other OSX versions before).
So, my questions: is there a general performance problem with Mail in Yosemite? And if there is, will Apple release a fix?

Please follow these directions to delete the Mail "sandbox" folder.
    Back up all data.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Containers/com.apple.mail
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
              Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A Finder window should open with a folder named "com.apple.mail" selected. If it does, move the selected folder—not just its contents—to the Desktop. Leave the Finder window open for now.
Restart the computer. Launch Mail and test. If the problem is resolved, you may have to recreate some of your Mail settings. Any custom stationery that you created may be lost. Ask for instructions if you want to preserve that data. You can then delete the folder you moved and close the Finder window.
Caution: If you change any of the contents of the sandbox, but leave the folder itself in place, Mail may crash or not launch at all. Deleting the whole sandbox will cause it to be rebuilt automatically.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • ATV Performance Problems

Help smart people! I just got an ATV. I successfully synched my iTunes library with my ATV. My ATV is connected to my TV via HDMI and MacBook Pro via wireless. I can see all of "my movies" in my ATV menu. However, when I select one of my videos it's very slow, very choppy and then times out. My ATV has an unobstructed wireless signal and is connected via wireless "n". Anyone having similiar performance problems? Suggestions?

    capaho wrote:
    Create a secondary iTunes library....
I'm not so sure there really is such a thing as a "primary" iTunes library and a "secondary" iTunes library. An ATV can be synced to only one library at a time. Other libraries on the network can only be used for streaming. The "primary" and "secondary" library concept is an interesting if not artificial one.
    This is Winston's nomenclature.
Personally I preferred the old Sources selection from 1.0/1.1. software.
While the combined sync/stream listings for the sync library are intended to help, I think they confuse new users and maintaining and sorting this 'merged list' I feel may be partly responsible for sluggishness in 2.0+.
You knew what the source of the media was - AppleTV itself (content synced), streamed content from named libraries (including the sync library by default).

  • Jdeveloper dual core processor performance problem

I have a dual core 2.4 ghz processor and 2 gig of ram and Im running Jdevloper 9.0.5.2 and my performace is terrible. Other developers in the company have non-dual core processors and they can start up in debug mode using the Jdeveloper embedded oc4j our application in 10 seconds where it takes me 4 min!!!!! It is a struts, ejb web application. Is there anything I can do to help in debug mode??? cheers.

    Hi Bernard,
Which version of McAfee are you using?
On my (personal) laptop, I'm using McAfee VirusScan 9.0.10. I don't frequently run JDeveloper on this laptop, but when I do, it's not experiencing signficant startup delays (it's a very low power machine: PIII 650 512Mb)
McAfee VirusScan seems to have very few configuration options (noticably different from Norton, which I use on my corporate desktop machine). I specifically remember changing the "File Types to Scan" option to "Program files and documents only". You can get to this by right clicking the "M" notification area icon, VirusScan->Options menu, Advanced button on the ActiveShield page.
In Norton, I think I have it configured so that it only scans files on write rather than on read. I also exclude directories which contain jdeveloper installs or other large Java apps (although scanning only on write elliminates most of the performance problems anyway and still leaves your system reasonably secure).
The easiest way to convince your MIS dept that the virus checker is the source of your problems might be if you ask them to allow you to turn it off in order to test the difference it makes to performance. It's a reasonable request to make if you're trying to elliminate possible causes for the slowdown (from the description you gave, it does sound like the AV upgrade is the first place I'd start looking).
If the virus checker is the source of your problems, you'll probably be seeing massive slowness in most large Java applications that have a large number of JARs on their classpath.
    Thanks,
    Brian

  • Portal Director Portlet

    Hi,
I would like to know to make the portal director portlet point to a page created by me and not to geometrixx.
I am deploying the war file on WPS 8 and trying to display my page through the portlet.
    I have tried the following:
    1. Changing the start path through configuration of the portlet. Doesn't work, it throws an error and the page URL in the address bar reflects that it tries to go to geometrixx login and then the path of my page is appended at the end of the URL.
    2. Tried deactivating geometrixx pages.

Hi Yogesh, actually I was trying to deploy the CQ Out of the Box Portlet (CQ Portal Director Portlet) on WPS 8. Anyway, through a lot of trial and error, I got the desired result.
The issue was with the structure. Since, the portlet has locales configured 'en', 'de' by default, it looks for the similar structure. Hence, one needs to disable the locale info add checkbox in the Apache Felix Web Console configuration.
    PROBLEM SOLVED.

  • Adds new options in portal menu

I need add a new option in the portal menu.
The option is a copy of standard option (pz17).
Y have done a copy of the standard report asociated to pz17 (RHDPERSL). I modify ZRHDPERSL
I have assigned the report ZRHDPERSL to the transaction zpz17 in table T77WWW_REP.
The problem is:  When I execute the transaction zpz17, it calls to the report RHDPERSL instead of ZRHDPERSL.
What is happening ??  Do I Have to add information to another table ???
    Thanks

You assign ABAP reports to transaction codes with SE93.

  • WAS JAVA 640 engine is giving performance problems.

    Hi,
We are facing the performance issues in WAS java 640 SP19 engine. Pages are taking much time to load.
Kindly suggest if there anything do with jco connection parameter changes and recommended values. Is there any parametes to check at the backend system level.
    WAS version: 640, SP19
    OS : SUN 5.9
    Oralce: 9.2.0.8
    Thanks,
    Hareesh

    Hello Hareesh
You should find the root cause of  your performance problem first.
Start with checking the server (cpu, memory, paging) and by checking if your portal runs on the recommended parameters (check oss notes).
A killer for portal performance is when you have a lot of paging going on, make sure the portal has enough extended memory available to avoid any paging.
If those don't give a result, you can still analyze garbage collection logs with third party tools.
Check if heapdumps are being generated and analyze them.
Once those checks are done, I would recommend installation of Sol Man Diagnostics + Wily Introscope so you get a better view on what is going on and troubleshoot further from there.
    Kind regards
    Tom
