PortalAppAdmin shows no available portal web applications

hi,
I was wondering if someone had the same problem.
I cant see my web app when I log into the portal Web app

...the same problem...
On local development envirement was created some portal application, targeted to some 'managed server' (production mode),content and BEA DBs - Oracle 9i. All work correct, while I did need to inslall that application to some customer's app server(BEA connection pools - a used from adm server - targeted are to my managed server). On that server(customer's server) a have no permissions to make any changes to domain but have access to 'manage server' and its databases. I populated BEA DB,content DB, created all of 'connectionPools' and 'dataSources' (created NEW BEA connection pools, and NEW dataSources - targeted ONLY to managed server), deployed the same *.ear - successfully... But! - "portalAppAdmin shows no available portal web applications". Why, on local machine - its working, but on the remote - is not?
How I must install/run fully new application on the customer's machine with access only to 'manage server', 'admin console', and BEA and content DBs? (*.ear file deployed to 'manage server')

  • Administration screen not finding my Portal Web Applications

    Hello All,
    Does anyone know why the portal administration screen might not find a Portal
    Web Application ? When I go to my administration screen, (http://.../MyAppAdmin/portal.portal)
    the drop-down box says 'No Available Portal Web Application'.
    When I go to http://.../MyWebProj/app.portal it loads fine!
    Also, this only happens when I deploy application as an .ear file. When I run
    it on my own machine from Workshop, it all loads fine. Also, my other applications
    are ok, I can not see what is different with this guy!
    Is there some build option I should include, to add something in a deployment
    descriptor to declare the Portal Web Application ? I am just using Workshops
    'build ear' menu option.
    thanks for any suggestions!

    Doyle,
    This can occur in a cluster if the Portal Application has not been deployed
    to the admin server. Some special things happen during app deployment on
    the admin server, which result in extra information getting written to the
    database. This information is used by the portal admin tools to display the
    list of web-apps.
    If this is the environment you're running in, it might be helpful to look at
    the 'Deploying Portal Applications' guide on edocs.bea.com, which goes into
    more detail on deployment.

  • How to use servlets in portal web application in Weblogic Portal 4.0

    We are developing a Portal Web application using Weblogic Portal 4.0 where in we
    have the following scenario. one JSP in webflow of a portlet calls the PipeLine
    which does some processing and calls the servlet which is having the typical download
    functionality. The servlet is supposed to read the data from the pipeline session
    and create a CSV String that is dumped to the client browser. The problem is even
    we are doing response.setContentType("application/save") in the servlet it is
    still displaying the content as html in the portlet. I guess since all our request
    are send to the webflow contolling servlet and it is setting the content type
    and hence our servlet is not working. How do I solve this problem? Thanks Yogesh

  • How can i show pdf in my web application?

    if the pdf (or else) file is under web content folder is simple, i can make a link to the resource, but if is it out of the .war file i deployed??
    I know I set a outside folder in web server classpath, so i can get URL and then the InputStream from the pdf file, like this:
    URL url = null;
        url =request.getClass().getClassLoader().getResource("file.pdf");
        InputStream is = url.openStream();
        response.setContentType(".......");  // how i must set???
        OutputStream os = response.getOutputStream();
        byte[] bytearray = new byte[1024];
        int bytesread = 0;
        while( (bytesread = is.read(bytearray) ) != -1 )
        os.write(bytearray, 0, bytesread);
        os.flush();
        is.close();The question now is: how can my browser understand opening the response by the pdf reader?

    Set the response headers. Especially the content type, content disposition and content length. You may find this example useful: [http://balusc.blogspot.com/2007/07/fileservlet.html]. All content types (mime types) can be found here: [http://www.w3schools.com/media/media_mimeref.asp].

  • Are Forms Builder and Reports available as Web Application?

    We have a few developers working on custom forms and reports for various projects including EBS 12.x. To avoid the hastle associated with patching and upgrading all desktops, we are looking for a server based forms builder and reports writer.
    I am familiar with UNIX based tools in EBS that can run with X-windows [on local desktop]. Created an SR with OS, but not getting a satisfactory response. I am looking for pointers to browser based tools. Do they even exist? I was hoping maybe something in Fusion stack might allow it.
    Thanks,

    Thanks all for your feedback. Confirmed this with the Oracle Sales team. There is no browser tool available from Oracle. If you must avoid the desktop install, the only option is frmbld/rwbuilder in $ORACLE_HOME/bin (R12).

    HI
    we have sharepoint portal web application ( publishing enabled , Annonymous access for internet users)
    and BI dashboards also we published in this portal.
    1 ) so for content db upgrade to 2013 we will follow db attach method,  but what about BI pointers list,dashboards list
    it also be upgrade with content database.
    2) now the BI dashboards connected to SQL Serve Analysis server   2008 r2 datasources, so after upgrade ,
    we need to be must upgrade these SSAS datasources to SSAS 2012 ?
    adil

    Given you aren't using PowerPivot for SharePoint, you can continue using SSAS 2008 R2 for your cubes and data connections. BI dashboards, Lists, and so forth are just SharePoint content, and they get upgraded when you migrate to 2013.

  • Where to store "global variable" for a web application

    There are some "global" variables in my portal web application. e.g. email server
    name, admin email address etc. Will web.xml context-param a good place to store these

    I still believe that the information like connectivity parameters to remote
    servers in the distributed environments would be best stored in the JNDI
    tree. I agree, that it is not a "general storage area", but I am not talking
    about storing application run-time data either.
    In the clustered environments it would provide additional benefits of
    centralizing this kind information across the cluster.

    JNDI is not a general-purpose storage area, although you could bind data

    parameters. You could read the initial values for these variables from a

    You can use jndi.properties file to store name-value pairs, which will
    get
    loaded into jndi tree at the server startup. Just put this file in your
    application class path.
    The other method would be to code a startup class to store the global
    variable in the jndi tree.

    After this change I open for example the web application designer and open a web template and try to execute it.
    This action pop up the web browser to show the web template, but there is a problem, the web application designer still openning the web template with the 50000 port.
    The question is:
    Where I change the port used for BEx Web Applications to execute the web templates or the BEx Web querys?

  • To use Web Application Designer release 2004s do we need to have portals???

    Hi
    I would like some clarity regarding whther we need a portal or not.
    If you use Web Application Designer (SAP BW 3.x) it works fine, you can create reports and then it shows in SAP Easy Access under favourites. Executes fine, no portal is used.
    Now when I want to use the new Web Application Designer I can not execute the reports. Gives me error
    "Java communication error: RFC destination NOT_CONFIGURED does not exist", the window it appears in has a text saying it can't conect to the portal. Then notes that I look at regarding this seems that the connection between SAP BW and Portal must be set up.
    So can please someone tell me whether you need the portal to use the new Web Application Designer release 2004s
    Thanks in advance

  • SSO to Web Application from Portal

    Hi,
        I am working on a scenario where I need to access a Web Application from the Portal.
        I read about the Application Integrator that is provided by the Portal .
        I wanted to know that can I only have SSO to those Web Application that accept the userid and password and as URL parameters using Application Integrator , ie: those applications that have post method cannot be integrated.
       Please help me out with clearing this doubt.
    Thnx,
    Pravesh Puria.

    Hi  Abdulbasit ,
        Please give me more details , we have a Lotes Notes Web application hosted on Domino server , another is J2EE based application. I need to achieve SSO to each of these applications from the SAP Portal.
       I followed the below listed steps:
       Created two systems one for each Web application based on the template generated from the application integrator. I entered the user mapping values for both the systems.
       I also created two IViews. When I preview , the logon page of the web application opens but the user credentials are not passed to the application.
       Please help me with the steps to achieve the SSO , from the reply I interpret that Logon ticket method was used to achieve the SSO and user mapping.
        My email id is : [email protected]
        It will be of immense help to me.
    Thnx,
    Pravesh Puria.

    We are successful in sending the portal side cookie to the application.

  • Integrating a Java web application into the SAP NetWeaver Portal

    Hello experts,
    We have a requirement to integrate a Java based web application into the SAP NetWeaver Portal using iView/iFrame technology. The Java based web application is completely independent from the SAP environment but should be displayed as part of the SAP Portal environment. The other requirement is the main navigation menu for the Java based web application should be configured and provided in the SAP Portal.
    Any pointers on how exactly this can be done would be of great help.
    Also how can the SSO (Single-Sign-On) to the Java application be implemented so that the user can logon to the java application through the portal without providing the user credentials again.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    I think you can use URL iviews to integrate your java web application with EP. you have the option of doing SSO with the application as well.
    Have a look at the sap help material

  • Cross Farm: User Profile Custom Properties do not show up in the consumer farm web applications

    I have a two SharePoint 2010 farms, one is the publishing farm and user profile service is running on this farm. I have defined a couple of new custom properties, and after a while these custom properties do not show up at the consumer farm end.
    So, on the publishing farm, I can udpate the user profiles with values in these custom properties. However, neither the custom properties nor the values got synchronized to the consumer farm. What puzzled me further is that some of the existing custom properties
    exist on the consumer farm, but not the new custom properties I recently added.
    1. I have made sure the application pool accounts on both the farms being added to the administrators with full control permission in UPS on the publishing farm.
    2. The User Profile Service proxy (connected to the publishing farm UPS application)  is associated with all the web applications on the consumer farm.
    3. When values in the user profiles on the publishing farm changed, these changes do not get replicated to the consuming farm user profiles. This symptom occurs on both custom and OOB user profile properties.
    However, I cannot find any other related information on the web, nor from the ULS logs.

    Hi,
    As I understand, it did not display the new custom properties you defined in the publishing farm at the consumer farm end.
    1. Check if the topology Discovery Service Application runs well in consuming farm. In the Central Administration, it is the Application Discovery and load Balancer Service Application, check if it starts.
    In the IIS, it is the topology, check if it starts.
    2. Check the permissions have been established if you have established consumer farm permissions on Provider Farm before you publish the service application.
        1. Go to Central Administration and going to “Manage Service Applications”.
        2. Click on “Application Discovery and Load Balancer Service Application” and click “Permissions” from the ribbon.
    Your farm GUID should be listed with full permissions.

  • Is it possible to show a 'My Activity' web part on a SharePoint site if 'My Sites' is not available?

    Is it possible to show a 'My Activity' web part on a SharePoint site if 'My Sites' is not available?
    For example, say there's a SharePoint installation dedicated to particular (custom) SharePoint site. The users go to the site to carry out their tasks. There's no 'My Site' set up in this installation (and for other reasons I'm told it's not an option).
    Is it possible to show a web part here that shows the user's recent activity? The built-in web part for this fails with the error 'Invalid URI: The URI is empty', and the details of it appear to say it's looking for the user's My Site to find out what to show:
    SPMicrofeedContext.SetMySiteHostForContext failed System.UriFormatException: Invalid URI: The URI is empty.     at System.Uri.CreateThis(String uri, Boolean dontEscape, UriKind uriKind)     at Microsoft.Office.Server.Microfeed.SPMicrofeedContext.SetMySiteHostForContext()
    So, while I'd be happy to write a web part (or app part) to display the information instead of using the default part, I'm not sure SharePoint is even storing the activity in a way I can access.
    Some pages like the following: http://sharepointmystery.com/2012/07/22/activity-feeds-in-sharepoint-2013/ make me think it won't be possible - it says: 'The major change from 2010 is that all the [activity] content is stored in the user’s personal site, not
    in a common database.'
    Are activity feeds dependent on 'My Sites' or is there a way to access the information when 'My Sites' is not present in the deployment? I can't find a definitive answer in Microsoft's documentation.

    To clarify, do you have the User Profile Service (including MySite Host) up and running on this environment? That's subtley different to the full MySite experience which is clearly not applicable...
    Interesting question - thanks for that. Until now I didn't realise there was a difference.
    The User Profile Service is up and running, but no MySite Host is set. (I don't believe MySite will be available anywhere here. I guess that means there's no valid MySite Host for me to use.)
    Many thanks,

    Hello,
    You can download these components from Service Market Place (service.sap.com/swdc) and:
    Download -> Support Packages and Patches -> Entry by Application Group -> "Support Packages and Patches" -> "SAP NetWeaver" -> "SAP NETWEAVER" -> "SAP NETWEAVER 2004S" -> "Entry by Component" -> "BI Java":
    BI BASE SERVICES 7.00
    BI WEB APPLICATIONS 7.00
    You have to download the SP that equals your APAP SP.
    Normally, these SCAs will be installed with installation of "BI Usage Type" of the J2EE engine.
