POSSIBLE BUG in APEX Version 3.2 "Copy Page"

Has anyone experienced an error in the *"Copy Lists of Values" step in the "Copy Page" application in 3.2*? I am experiencing a _"Report Error: ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: character string buffer too small"_ sometimes when I copy a page from one application to another. It appears to be page content related because I either always get it for a page or I never get it depending on what page I copy. When I get the error on a page copy, APEX hard codes the LOVs on the page into the list of values definitions instead of copying the appropriate Lists of Values in shared components and using them on the page. It is VERY irritating! Anyone know if this is a bug or if there is a way around it?
Dale

I was able to upload and install my application on apex.oracle.com and recreate the issue with the string length on the copy lists of values step in the page copy process. I have created an SR in Oracle Support and have provided them with the necessary information. Hopefully, they will be able to get a patch for the problem.
I was also able to recreate the problem with the change to the button template but, in the process, found that there is a simple work-around. When the page copy process gets to the copy templates step, it provides a list of the templates to be used. For some reason it does not choose the correct "Button for Javascript" template. Instead, it chooses the standard "Button" template. I was able to change it to use the correct template prior to clicking next. However, I think that the page copy process should be corrected to default the proper template in the first place.
Thanks Scott,

  • Possible Bug In Apex 4.0.2

    Hi Everyone.
I would like to report what I think is a bug in Apex 4.0.2.
If you go to my workspace on apex.oracle.com:
    Workspace = EEG
    Username = [email protected]
    Password = galaxy (all lowercase)
Run the application: 37796 - Elie_Various_Goodies [no credentials are required]
This app was imported from my 4.0.1 workspace at my job. On the page I created two Date Picker items, P1_BEGIN_DATE and P1_END_DATE. I set them up so that whenever a user selects a begin date, a dynamic action "MANAGE_DATES" fires and automatically sets P1_END_DATE to this selected begin date value. Now when a user goes to select an end date, the displayed calendar starts at the previously selected begin date rather than the default of "Today".
All of this worked fine on my office (4.0.1) workspace. However, after exporting this app and then importing onto apex.oracle.com, none of this functionality would work. Even worse, whenever I try to select a begin date or even an end date, the selected dates never make it into the date picker fields. Displaying the "Session" window shows these fields as empty.
It was only after I copied the two date picker fields and also re-created my dynamic action (P1_BEGIN_DATE2, P1_END_DATE2, MANAGE_DATES) did my functionality return.
This behavior is quite strange. I can only think this is some sort of bug attributed to the export/import process when exporting a 4.0.1 app into a 4.0.2 workspace. I am not sure if this bizarre behavior happens with non-date picker items. Nor am I sure if this beavior would be repeated if I export/import from 4.0.2 into the another 4.0.2 environment.
Another strange thing I noticed. If I change my date picker items to be "date picker (classic)" type items, the dynamic action does not work at all. This is true in both 4.0.2 and 4.0.1. I'm not sure if this a bug or not. It could be that the classic date picker is just not "javascript" enabled so to speak. If that is true, then it would have been nice if the docs would have warned us about this.
Has anyone else seen this behavior?
    Thank you.
    Elie

    Hi Joel.
First let me thank you for the warning about allowing "everyone" access to my workspace.
You're correct, of course. Anyone could destroy anything within my workspace. I guess I was too trusting especially as I have seen many posts on the Forum where others have given access to their workspace so that responders can offer help. I really should be more discreet about this. Again, thank you. Needless to say, I have changed my password.
With respect to the possible bug, the MANAGE_DATES dynamic action is intended to be a submit page because that is the only way I can see to get BOTH the P1_END_DATE date picker item as well as the end date textual field to be assigned the selected P1_BEGIN_DATE. I tried to use a dynamic action in which javascript sets the value of the end date textual field to the selected P1_BEGIN_DATE value. This works without the need to submit the page. Unfortunately, this does not cause the P1_END_DATE date picker item to default to this value. Instead, the default remains at today's date. This is why I finally resorted to a dynamic action that submits the page whenever a new value is selected (that is, a "change" event) from the P1_BEGIN_DATE date picker item.
All of this works in my office 4.0.1 environment. However, I was puzzled when this fails under 4.0.2 on the hosted web site at apex.oracle.com. This is why I posted a "possible" bug in 4.0.2.
I hope this all makes sense.
One more thing, as already mentioned in my original post, this "defaulting a date picker" functionality does NOT work at all for the "classic" date picker items in both 4.0.1 nor in 4.0.2. I realize one can implement this functionality (I' guessing) my using, say, a "onChange" javascript call to submit the page. It's just funny that the "classic" date picker items are not acted upon by the dynamic action MANAGE_DATES that submits the page.
    Thank you.

  • Possible bug with Notes (in Mail) with copy / paste

    Has anyone else experienced this...
From time to time the copy / paste does not work properly. When I copy some text with command-c & place the insertion point at the end of line somewhere else in the document & press command-V, the text will be inserted in the line above.
I am not certain of the precise pattern to reproduce the bug, but try this...
    1) Open an existing note document within mail...
    2) Copy several lines of text & paste somewhere else in the document
    3) Then type some text at the end of one of these lines
    4) Highlight & copy that text
    5) Move insertion point to the end of the next line
    6) press command-v
    7) Text does not get pasted to the right location, but to the line above
    I running Lion 10.7.2
    Thanks

No, each of the two subpanels calls a different VI. Try it!

  • Possible Bug in APEX 4.1 Tree Region

    Hello Everybody,
I am developing an APEX application and want to add a navigation tree.
So I downloaded the Oracle packaged sample application "Sample Trees".
I created a tree region like the tree on page "Project Tracking" and realized that the lines at the left of the images were not visible in my application (to be exact: on root level they they are concealed by the bitmaps).
The reason is that my application uses the a different page template (No Tabs, Left and Right Sidebar, Theme 24 Cloudy).
The "Sample Tree" application (which has a reduced set of page templates) uses a template without sidebars (same Theme).
I was able to reproduce this error by switching the page template in the Oracle "Sample Tree" application to "Two level Tabs, Right Sidebar).
When I do so the tree line on root level disappear in the sample application also.
As I want to use a sidebar page template and want to use a navigation tree...
does anybody know a workaround for this behavior ?
I am using Chrome and Firefox on MacOS and the behavior ist the same in both browsers.
    Thank very much ...

    Hi,
I do not have access to your apex.oracle.com application to see what happens when the page template is changed.
It appears to render identical for various page templates in my local instance. I even tried with custom icons, 24-Cloudy. I am unable to spot the missing lines. Or, I do not see them rendered in any of the page templates ( corollary).
What appears to me on your apex.oracle.com application is that you are using icon that are not in the three options in the tree wizard (Blue/Classic/Default).
Moreover, your Tree does not have a single root that is displayed.
So, you either need to give access to your apex.oracle.com workspace for someone to try changing the template and see what is happening. Or, you need to describe how to locate the lines that find go missing.
    Cheers.

    Hi guys,
I just noticed that the filter criteria don't work when running the websheet application in German. It works in English though.
The interactive reports for the data grids and reports are affected.

Help please. I updated the iOS version and I couldn't understand an essence of synchronization of my files. Now memory of phone is empty: there are neither photos nor contacts... Whether it is possible to return everything if the backup copy too is empty?

Sorry to hear that, but this forum is for us, users, and what you need is someone from Xperia Care to find your motherboard and send it back, I don't think it'll be possible to retrieve any data from a broken motherboard.

  • Copy and paste adjustment  problem/ possible bug.

    Hi all
I have just encountered a very strange problem/ possible bug.
I have been working on a file in photoshop cs5 that had come from lightroom 5.3. This was then saved (automaticaly becomes tiff file in Lightroom). I then wanted to make some more adjustments to it in lightroom (using local adjustment clarity). I then tried to copy the settings of the adjustment brush  from the tiff to the original raw file. This is where it gets very strange. The adjustments are copied but they are rotated ccw by 90 degrees!  I can replicate this every time.
Could someone else try to see if this problem exists on their catalogs or if its a corrpution problem my end.

    Noted on the bug, thanks.

When the same text is view in another browsers it appears correctly as "two/".
I've checked, and the same problem appears in Firefox on another computer.
The two answers received so far have not provided an answer: is this a known bug in Firefox?
    Thank you.

You are on a Mac and that is a [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kerning kerning] problem. Don't you see the same problem in other applications if you choose the same font, font-weight and font-size.
I only find one other kerning [https://support.mozilla.com/questions/789254 question] here -- it is marked unsolved. I find it strange that Firefox got involved with this at all rather than leaving such things to the operating system and font metrics.
Does the problem go away with "command+0" (zero) which resets [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Zoom_text_of_web_pages zoom level] to normal. If you mess with the font sizes in your preferences because you want larger print that would have the same effect.
Also found this one recently reported for [https://support.mozilla.com/questions/892222 Firefox 7 in ubuntu 11.04] which appears much worse. If it involves Firefox and specific operating systems it becomes a lot harder to diagnose who or what is responsible.

  • Bug? Copy page within an application not updating everything

We have a ApEx (Version 2.0.0.00.49) application, and it was decided to rearrange the pages to fit a better numbering scheme for maintenance purposes. Not a problem, as we copy each page to the new page number, then delete the old one. However, we found when this was done, the new pages were broken. Specifically:
    1. If you page contained a branch to itself the page number was not updated properly. For example, most of our pages have an "On Submit: After Processing (Unconditional)" branch back to the same page. This branch was created by the page creation wizard. After copying the page, the branch was not updated to the new page number, but rather still pointed to the old (now deleted) page.
    2. The reset page (Clear Cache for all items on pages) process source are not updated. If you have a process item for Clear Cache (we have one for the delete item process to refresh the report query). The Source Process item, which based upon what the wizards create, is the page number (or a list of page numbers). Again, since this is not update, the reset page process clears the cache for the old (now deleted) page.

I don't think this is a bug. It is possible that you want to copy a page and retain information for branches and processes to the old page number. These are just a couple things that you'll need to change manually after a page copy.
I guess the point is that when a page gets copied it's not always going to be obvious what needs to happen to things like branches and processes - so they'll need a little attention after copying to get them working properly again.

  • Re: BUG? APEX 4.0: ORA-20503 error editing report with 400+ columns

    Hello Everyone.
I've run into something quite strange and am hoping you can help me.
I am using Apex 4.0.1 and Oracle version 10.2.0.5. I've created a "classical" report in which the underlying SQL is a very simple:
select * from pvtabThe Oracle table pvtab consists of 419 columns, all of which are varchar2(88) and number type. That's it.
When I run the report, al of the columns show up as expected.
However, when I go into the "Report Attributes" tab and click on one of the fields (any of them, it doesn't matter which one), I immediately get the following error:
ORA-20503: Current version of data in database has changed since user initiated update process. current checksum = "598CAA7B68746A66F4B99E1512C36DED" application checksum = "0"If if replace the "*" with a few actual column names, then I am able to access any of these columns without problem.
If I put back the "*", I then encounter this error again.
I have never seen this error with other SQL SELECT statements in which I use the "*" qualifier to retrieve all columns from the table.
And so, I am wondering if the error is caused because of the large number of columns (419) in my table.
I've seen this same error mentioned in connection with forms but never with a report.
So, is there some limit to the number of columns one can have in a "classic" or interactive report?
Any idea why I would be getting this error?
Here is the DDL for my table pvtab:

So, is there some limit to the number of columns one can have in a "classic" or interactive report?Yes. See Oracle® Application Express Application Builder User's Guide Release 4.0, Appendix B: Oracle Application Express Limits.
Any idea why I would be getting this error? No, but I've replicated it in APEX 4.0.2.00.07 on 11.2.0.1.0 EE using a table of 420 <tt>varchar2(88)</tt> columns:
    >
ORA-20503: Current version of data in database has changed since user initiated update process. current checksum = "50C9BDC0AA1AEF0EB272E9158B2117B4" application checksum = "0"
    >
Happens whether using <tt>select *</tt> or including all column names in the query. (I know you don't want to type all the column names, but I'd never use <tt>select *</tt> in a production application: always use a proper column list. You can get one without typing by drag-and-drop of a table in most IDEs, or a query from <tt>user_tab_columns</tt>.)
I hit the problem at 274 columns. Such an arbitrary number leads me to think that the problem is not one of the number of columns per se, but is due to some other limit (possibly a 32K VARCHAR2/RAW buffer somewhere).
    Workaround:
Updates to the report column attributes are actually being saved, and you can navigate them using the Page Definition tree view as described in Appendix B.
    Getting More Help:
This is probably a bug. If you have a support agreement with Oracle raise an SR with Oracle Support.
    Also:
<li>Search the forum using the "ORA-20503" code and other possible terms to see if there's anything relevant. I had a quick look but the only thread in this context recommended an upgrade on an Oracle 9 DB version that's not compatible with APEX 4.0.
<li>To get the attention of the Oracle APEX team or anyone else who may know more about this problem than we do, edit your original post and change the Subject to be more specific about the actual nature of the problem: <em>BUG? APEX 4.0: ORA-20503 error editing report with 400+ columns</em>, and include your database version/edition and the definition of the <tt>PVTAB</tt> table.
    Finally:
Somebody's bound to ask, so we might as well get started:
    <li>Why so many columns?
<li>What requirement is this trying to fulfil?

  • File Browse Item in APEX versions prior 4

    Hi there,
we are currently struggling with a strange issue concerning the File Browse Item in earlier APEX versions: The item value is not submitted correctly when using APEX Listener. There is always a F<randomnumber>/ as prefix that is not visible anywhere in the page source code (so it's not generated by APEX itself) or browser (Firebug trace didn't see any prefix transmitted) and this value is even there when the file browse dialogue is submitted empty. The latter case causes severe problems, as validations fail to detect null values. Our current workaround is a regex on that prefix, but this obviously is no clean solution.
We found out that F<randomnumber>/ is the prefix of the name that is created temporarily in WWV_FLOW_FILES. If submitted correctly, the name is prefix + actual filename.
This problem does not occur when using OHS and it does not occur when running the APEX Listener on top of APEX 4.0.2.
The problem occurs reproducible in the following environments:
    - APEX Listener 1.1.2 standalone or any JEE Container, JDK 1.6.0_26, Linux or Windows
    - APEX 3.1.2 or APEX 3.2.1
The problem seems to be related to the one discussed in {thread:id=2205973}, but describes some different effect that is not reproducible on OHS.
I appreciate every clue where this may come from and any hint on how to turn it off...
    Thanks,
    Udo

    Hello Claudio,
After reading this story, I have same problem with version 1.1 of the apex listener and version 4.1 application express.I still think it affects only versions prior to 4.0. I'm not able to reproduce it on 4.1.
    How do I resolve this problem?I think you ran into a bug in GlassFish 3.1.2. This has been discussed and resolved here: {thread:id=2357381}
I hope this helps you solve your problem.

P.S.: Please always open a new thread if you are not sure you are in the same situation and especially when the original thread is long "dead" like this one. Of course you can reference other threads with possibly similar issues in your thread.
    Thanks!

  • Is it possible to stop APEX using a cached query?

I was hoping that the issue where report regions sometimes show the error: "ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: NULL index table key value" would be fixed in 3.1.1 however it seems not to have been (We have had it several times now). The workaround seems to be to change the query slightly such as selecting NULL as an additional column and then hiding that column.
This obviously only works AFTER the issue has occured, ie, after we have received a complaint from someone!
Is it possible to stop APEX using the cached version of some queries altogether? The ones we are calling are quite simple and so will not give that much overhead.
    Thanks.

I've actually found several threads on this from the past:
ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: NULL index table key value
http://kr.forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=644172&tstart=120 (This thread states the problem has been fixed however it would appear either it hasn't or there is a similar bug elsewhere.)

  • Upgrading the APEX version 4.0.1.00.03  to  4.0.2.00.07

    Hi All,
We need to upgrade current apex version 4.0.1.00.03 to 4.0.2.00.07.
I am new to Apex applications , so quite have few doubts:
1.Does database downtime is required for upgrade. In readme its stated that only APEX_040000 is updated , but I m not sure if the database will be restricted mode during upgrade?
    2. Is procedure same for Database versions 10gR2 and 11gR2 (our version is 11gR2).
3.Also have plan for 11.2.0.2 upgrade , is it affect Apex applications?
    Thanks in advance.
    Vishal

NOT really possible to go backwards from 4.x to 3.s. Your best option is to try and find a backup and try and install it and make required changes to meet current version. Why, may I ask is your production environment in 4.x and your development in 3.2? This sounds TOTALLY dainbramaged to me, since I would NOT want to work in such a mixed environment.
    Thank you,

  • On-demand process in page processing - possible bug?

    Hi
Came across a possible bug today, certainly not a big one and unlike to affect many people but...
    1. Create an on-demand application process
    2. Create an on-demand page process that calls the application process
    3. Delete the application process.
Now at this point, the page process is still available for editing/deleting etc.
    4. Copy the application.
In the new version of the application, the page process shows as plain text in the application builder with no link to edit or delete it and when the page is run, it predictably fails at the processing point of the page process when it tries to find the application process (the id from wwv_flow_processing is shown in the error for the old application process).
The only way to get rid of the page process is to select 'Edit All' and then select and delete it - then everything is hunky dory again.
A minor issue I know, but maybe someone will have the same issue one day and stumble across this thread :)
    Cheers
    Ben

At the moment I cannot say if your link can help. Right now the call of the On demand Process looks like this:
    Inside annonymous PL/SQL Region:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    get = new htmldb_Get(null,'||:APP_ID||'.,'APPLICATION_PROCESS=F_REPORT_NAME',0);
    gReturn = get.get();
    document.write(gReturn);
    </script>

  • Possible bug with iTunes 11 ?? (with Smart Playlists)

    Hi folks
New to Apple Support, but after upgrading to iTunes 11 earlier today (on my Mac Mini) I've discovered a potential bug / difference in the way it operates compared to earlier versions. Can someone else try something similar and see if they get the same result - I think I read somewhere that v11 is not available on Windows yet, so I cant compare what happens there
I've imported all our CD's into iTunes, and we've set up several Smart Playlists (SP). Using the Rating setting for the songs, we can break them up into groups, eg
Rating 0 = not yet processed
Rating 1 = not interested in listening to again
Rating 2 = kids songs (for our children)
    Rating 3 = christmas songs
Rating 4 = songs i like, but my wife probably wouldnt
Rating 5 = songs we both like - good for background music etc
Using Home Sharing to our iPad's rocks !!
    Now, onto the bug.
Using the SP that has just songs with Rating 0, I could play any song, set the Rating to whatever, and naturally once set, that disappears from the SP
In all earlier versions of iTunes, playback would continue with the next song, so I could set that Rating, etc etc. Worked really well to churn through a chunk of songs in say 15 minute blocks
With iTunes v11, playback stops as soon as I set the Rating.
How can you help ?????????? Set up a smart playlist with whatever criteria you like - make sure you have a number of songs returned and ensure Live Updating is set, have a song playing, and make that song no longer valid for that SP. Anyone doing this in earlier versions of iTunes should have the next song begin, and if this is a bug, then those using iTunes 11 will have playback stop
Sorry for the long post, but in order to determine a potential bug, you need to describe the situation and how to test it.
    Thanks for reading
PS I'm on a 2010 Mac Mini with OSX v10.7.x (whatever the current release of that is) and just upgraded to iTunes 11

Soo, maybe it isnt possible bug, but the way Apple have changed iTunes when going to v11. Stooopid
Anyway, found this link about downgrading to an earlier version. I've just completed it and found one or two "errors" in the method, which I'll detail below
    http://www.emacconsulting.com/apple/itunes/downgrade-itunes-11-to-itunes-10-7/
In the latter part of the instructions
    11) Open your iTunes Music Folder.
If you never moved your iTunes folder it’s located here:
    Your HD/Your User/Music/iTunes
Or go to the Finder type:  Command + Shift + G
Paste this into the the dialog:  ~/Music/iTunes
If you moved it to another hard drive, you will know where to locate your iTunes folder.
    12) Open the “Previous iTunes Libraries” folder.
    13) Find the most recent copy of the “iTunes Library 2012-xx-xx.itl” file.
Normally it will the last file at the bottom of the list.
    14) Drag a copy of the file into the iTunes folder.
    15) Delete the “iTunes Library” file.
    16) Change the name of the “iTunes Library 2012-xx-xx.itl” to ”iTunes Library” with no .itl extension.

Copied the latest .itl and moved it up a directory level
The old file in #15 is called "iTunes Library.itl" - which I renamed, and renamed the copied version back to "iTunes Library.itl" = though I do have extensions showing, some people may not and hence wont see the .itl
Anyway all is fixed in my world, and when I launched v10.7, it asked me if I wanted to upgrade to v11 - I said No and not to prompt me again. Playcount issue is resulved, as is changing SmartList criteria with playback continuing
Apple - please correct these bugs before releasing any new versions of iTunes... you've made a very large number of people unhappy
