Powerpoint to Captivate - speaker notes?

We are considering using Captivate to convert Powerpoint
presentations for posting on our website. What happens to the
speaker notes from Powerpoint? Is there an analogous feature in
Captivate? Are the speaker notes automatically converted? Or are
they lost?

Welcome to our community, Julie
These get converted and placed in the Notes area of
Captivate.

  • Speaker notes like PowerPoint

    Hi
    I'm preparing a conference presentation using CS4 and AS3.
There are pages where images are presented and right below
them are speaker notes. In PowerPoint speaker notes can be seen by
the presenter, but not the audience when using a digital projector.
How can I achieve the same in Flash CS4 using AS3?
    Sincerely,
    German

    Ned:
If you have used PowerPoint, you know you can insert speaker
notes at the bottom of slides. These comments are not seen by the
audience when you run your slide show. That's what I would like to
do. The point is not using two computers, but hiding the speaker
notes when using a digital projector. Thanks for replying. I hope
someone else knows how to do it.

  • Captivate 8 not transfering fonts from PowerPoint?

I am using Captivate 8.  I created a PPT presentation using Bank Gothic BT Medium font.  The first time I created a PowerPoint project in Cap8, everything transfered perfectly.
I made some updates to the PPT file, then updated the file within Cap8, and the font changed to something like Arial.  No matter what I do, I cannot get the font to update to the correct font, even though it originally transfered over.
To experiment, I made ANOTHER PPT presentation using the same font, and started ANOTHER Cap 8 project, this time from within the program (started Blank project, then inserted PPT presentation). This time the font didn't transfer at all.
Is this a bug issue with Cap 8 not recognizing the font, or is this a PPT issue not transfering the font information from the master slide?

    Answering my own question:
My solution was so simple I am embarassed to relate it:  I closed Captivate and reopened the program, and now my fonts transfer over.  It seems.. (eh hem)... *someone* forgot that when you download and install a new font, you have to close and reopen any program you have open where you will be working with fonts. In this case, I had both PowerPoint and Captivate open however, I opened PowerPoint AFTER I installed the font. So, yeah.  One solution.  If you are experiencing this font issue, try closing and reopening your project.  SAVE FIRST THOUGH!

  • Issue with Powerpoint in Captivate

I am creating a training project and am having an issue with powerpoint. When I select to update the slide with powerpoint in Captivate the changes I make and save do not appear on the slide. Just today I went into the slide I wanted to update and changed the slide timing from 1 to 2 seconds on all 5 bullet points.  When I saved my changes, sync'd the updated powerpoint with the project and viewed only the first 3 bullet points appeared. I checked the slide display time to see if that was the issue. I am a beginner user and can't seem to figure out the issue when updating powerpoint slides.

    @megain.jonas
I'm using Captivate 6, Your suggestion does work, but it's a nasty work-around and quite time consuming.  HOWEVER, it works and I am greatful for a solution . If the text box contains bulleted text only, Captivate retains the format from PowerPoint.
So, if you need a work-around, create two text boxes - 1 for the non-bulleted text and a 2nd for the bulleted text.  I'm not sure why Captivate has issues with this , it's annoying, but at least I can get it to work.
Anyone else have information on this issue and other effective work arounds?

  • How can I change all of (or more than one) speaker note to a voice at once?

    Hello...
I have a lot of speaker notes that I need to apply a specific voice to.  How do I apply the same voice to all of the speaker notes in the whole project at once?  Or at least more than one?  Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you!   I am working with Captivate 6.

    Hi Vikram,
Thanks. That tip definitely helps!  You just have to be careful when you use the CNTRL button and not highlight the name of the slide as you try to highlight the voices.  If you do that, then the drop down box becomes “unclickable”.  Unfortunately, when using the control button, it is sometimes impossible not to highlight the name of the slide as well.

  • Speaker Notes for slideshows?

I occasionally give electronic "slideshows" of my images. Since I don;t so it frequently, I need notes from which I can "lecture". I would prefer to have the notes for each image attached to the image, so that when I select the images that I want to use for a particular lecture, I would automatically have the pertinent notes to go with it. I want to be able to print on sheets of paper, multiple images per page, the a small form chosen images and next to them the Speaker Notes.
I have looked fairly carefully, I think, through Lightroom, but can't find such a capability. Is it there and I just can't find it?
Aside from this, I love LR!
    Thanks for any help
    Bob Chapman

Bob, you don't seem to know Powerpoint well enough but you are describing its speakers notes feature. The great thing is that you can print the speakers notes nice and big so you can read them from a distance. It also allows various handout layouts. However, the key word you use is "automatically" and the answer is no. Even with Powerpoint you'd have to add each image and caption to each slide.
So how would this idea work for you? Put the images for the slideshow into a collection - this makes it easier to go back to the slideshow. Enter your notes in the caption field. If this is a problem (ie if you don't want to overwrite your existing captions), then I'd suggest you should make virtual copies of each file and use these in the slideshow. In Print, create a grid of images showing the caption below each picture. I just tried a 2*2 grid and increased the size of the font to 16 - not quite big enough but better than nothing. Print it and you're done. Go back to Slideshow and play.

  • Captivate 8 not picking up System Audio

    Good morning,
My partner and I are both using Captivate 8.  We are trying to use a Lync meeting to capture audio.  It works fine on my computer but not on my partners.  It seems all her settings are the same as mine.  She used to be able to pick up the system audio but it has stopped working for some reason.  I have had her re-boot twice.  Anything else we should be checking?

    Hi Lasers Edge,
It turned out that the problem was not actually in Captivate but in Lync.  The Lync setting default was not using the Logitech Headset but something else that Captivate did not pick up as part of system audio.  Had to click on the Speaker icon in my tray at the bottom of my window (application agnostic).  Then click on Mixer.  There are then choices for Speakers, System Audio, Lync, etc....  Only Speakers has a drop-down arrow.  Select your headset instead of the HP or Realtech or what ever is there.  This should fix the problem.
PS -- For us, why it was working for several weeks and then stopped turned out to be a Blue Jeans Conferencing upgrade.  Each member of the team had the issue on different days over a two week span and it turned out to be the same day we updated Blue Jeans.  Hope that helps.

  • PowerPoint to Captivate

I have a finished PowerPoint that I have imported into
Captivate. The animations have been created in PowerPoint but I now
want to add audio. Can I input the audio in Captivate and sync the
audio with the animation in Captivate or should I import the audio
in PowerPoint and then import to Captivate. I did not see a way to
adjust individual lines of text once they are brought in from
    PowerPoint…Is this correct.
Another thought was to recreate the entire thing in Captivate
although that would mean some rework so I’d like to avoid
    this if possible.

    Welcome to our community, Rich
After you import from PowerPoint, nothing is actually
editable in Captivate. You may certainly add audio, but that will
be on the tricksy side to get it synced to the animation. Also,
audio doesn't survive the trip from PowerPoint to Captivate.
Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you are probably
better off re-creating in Captivate if that's your goal.
    Cheers... Rick

  • I am having trouble importing powerpoint to captivate

I am having trouble importing powerpoint to captivate.
I am using captivate 6 and powerpoint version2013.
I have saved my file three times with the right sequence, but when it converts to captivate ischanges the sequence of the slides.  Not all slides have animation.

    Hi there,
Can you please tell are you importing the .ppt or .pptx?
Captivate 6 is not tested with PowerPoint 2013, please check the help file link: http://helpx.adobe.com/captivate/using/microsoft-powerpoint.html
If the sequencing of slides is not O.K., then are you able to manually change the sequence in captivate? (as a workaround).
    Thanks.

  • I can no longer see my attached mail as word, excel or PowerPoint for it does not prompt me to download

    IPad Air 2
    version 8.3
i can no longer see my attached mail as word, excel or PowerPoint for it does not prompt me to download

Is it possible you mistakenly clicked on a [Clear Layout] button?
But a great hint is- Always click on the [Create a Saved Book] button, early in your new book design.
Then you have a permanent link to the book in the Collections panel. (In addition to the standard collection of your selected images)
Note: a Book Collection shows an icon that looks like a book.
Every time you come back to edit the book, open the Book Module by clicking on the white arrow that appears on the end of your Book Collection title. (The title as saved)
Re-opening a book without using the "Saved Book" option can have unpredictable results.
A "Book" Collection is like a "Smart Collection" because anything you do to the book design, change pages, change images, etc,  is automatically updated in the Saved Book collection.

  • I want to be able to create an editable Evernote note from a PPT presentation, preserving the Speaker Notes at the bottom of each slide, while making that text still editable.  Can I use automator to copy/paste each slide/notes into Evernote?

I can print the PPT as a PDF with speaker notes but this makes it into an attachment when adding to Evernote which for some reason makes the text on each slide/image unsearchable and it just makes the whole file too big (which in many cases violates Evernote's 100 MB file size limit).
I have been researching how to convert the PPT to a Word document, but apparently Microsoft got rid of that feature in the version that I have (14.3.9) because it was too unweildy and just didn't always work like it was supposed to.
I don't have any experience with coding (very limited html coding), but it seems to me like this would be a very simple thing to do with Automator where I could just specify the new PPT that I received, click run, and voila! have an Evernote note with each slide followed by its speaker notes in text format so that I could add/delete/edit them as I please as I'm working through them for school.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks!

A few days ago I tried to help a guy with Bose External Speakers and we found the male jack isn't quite long enough to make the connection:
    PROBLEM SOLVED!!
Just to share information for others who might come across this problem with Bose or any other external speakers, where the male jack doesn't quite go in far enough for the MacBook to recognize it, here is the solution that worked for me:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004HBWYQ6/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00
This is a very inexpensive solution and works great for me.  I'm listening to my Bose speakers now and they sound great!!  Thank you to all of you for your suggestions and help troubleshooting.

  • How do I get slides to print full size? They are currently printing with speaker notes

Trying to print my keynote presentation and the slide printouts are being shrunk to appropriate size when using speaker notes. Can someone help me get the settings resized to print full size?

When you select 'print', a dialog box should open & one of the options under 'print' should be 'individual slides'.  This should print the slide as a whole page.
