PowerQuery Add-In Ribbon disapears

Hi,
Since the last PQ Update the PowerQuery and PowerPivot Add-In Ribbon disappears with increasing frequency. The troubleshooting (https://support.office.com/en-nz/article/Troubleshooting-Power-Query-2546eaa8-9893-4574-9ef9-afacb9b0b495) works, but it gets
anyoing doing it 10 times a day.
In the past I had this problem from time to time. Maybe it's not related to the Update - I am a heavy PQ and Pivot User so maybe something else leads to this behaviour.
Does anyone experience the same problems lately or does someone know what causes this problem?

Hi Gil,
No, they do not appear in the disabled add-In List. They are removed from the ribbons but in the COM-Add-Ins they are still checked.
My workaround is to uncheck them in the COM-Add-Inn List --> Close Excel --> Check them again and then the ribbons are back.
I am using 64bit Excel and the datasets are Web.Service Queries in PowerQuery with json files (some of them are about 80 to 100 MB)

Add-in Ribbon won't stay in Excel

Hi,
I wonder if anybody had similar experience and any solution to this.
Normally the S&OP / IBP ribbon will appear in Excel at launch, on occasion when Excel disabled the Add-in, user can enable it back manually with File / Options / Add-in / Manage - COM Add-in.
For a small number of our users, every time when they open up Excel, the S&OP Add-in ribbon is disabled by default, so they have to go through the path every time to enable it.
Is there a way to make sure the S&OP Add-in button stays enabled at launch of Excel?

Just saw the same thing with a colleague running Office 2013 on Windows 8.1 - he's the first to experience it here at SAP.
With my colleague we fixed the situation (for now) by switching the load behavior from 0 to 3 in the registry (the installer should set it to 3 - haven't figured out how it became 0 yet). Other tips may be found in note http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1645616.
To modify the registry:
regedit.exe
Navigate to path Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Excel\Addins\FPMXLClient.Connect
Right-click on LoadBehavior, select Modify
Change value from 0 to 3
We'll keep an eye on it to see if we can understand what caused the situation.

My add-ons have disapeared and the layout of mozilla is different since the last update to 4.0.1, why?

The following add-ons have totally disapeared from my mozilla, but are still working since they are popping up. they are: WebMail Notifier, FoxClocks, Download Statusbar Mini along with some others. Not only did this happen, but the whole Mozilla Firefax layout has been scrambled ever since the last update has been applied.

To make v4.0.1 look like the previous version, do the following.
* Right click a blank part of the tab bar and click "Tabs on top" to remove the checkmark. Tabs will subsequently reappear below the location bar.
* Repeat the same steps, but click the top one called "Menu bar". This will reinstate the text links at the top.
* To rearrange the layout, repeat the same steps but choose "Customize" from the menu. A panel will open and while that remains onscreen, you can move elements like toolbars, buttons etc around and place them anywhere you wish. You can also drag anything you don't like into that panel and add anything you want by dragging it out of there.
* To replace the status bar at the foot of the page, install this add-on: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/status-4-evar/

Add attachment button disapear from Customer screen ( framework )

We did some personalizations in 12.1.2; for one reason ( we don't know why ) add attachment butotn disappear from attachment tab in client screen ( framework )

Can't get Office Add-in to allow drill in Excel.

In 11.1.1.3, I have an Analysis pivottable that I can insert into Excel via the OBIEE Office Add-in.
However, you can't use hierarchical columns with the add-in, only attribute columns. Nonetheless, attribute columns like "Per Year Name" are drillable in dashboards and analyses. The Add-in ribbon help states this: "Pivot Table view - displays data in the grouped format defined in the Answers analysis. You can drill up and down and add Excel formatting to the inserted view."
For some reason I can't drill. Does an analysis have to be enabled for drilling like a dashboard. Or can only pivottables within dashboards be drilled?
Any help or pointers to Add-in tutorials (they seem hard to find) would be appreciated!

VBA XML Ribbon now rendering in Project Client 2013 (version: 15.0.4569.15.04)

What I’m trying to do is to add XML ribbon to Project Client 2013 using VBA code. I have a method in my VBA project (mpp file) under “ThisProject”. When this project is open, it passes the xml ribbon to ActiveProject.SetCustomUI (“My XML
ribbon content HERE”). I can break point and see the call is being made but ribbon is not visible on the Project Client 2013.
This ribbon works in only one computer (in Project Client 2013). Right now I have this file stored as a local MPP file, but eventually I have to move this code to Project Server (global-check-out location). There are no error or any issues
that I can think.
Why does this work in one computer but not in other three computers? Is My XML schema and the format correct for Project Client 2013? What kind of permissions does Ribbon requires and how can I check them?

Add-in Menu disappeard in Excel 2007

I've been using the ribbon since it's release and have not personally run across any issues.
Make sure you get the very latest version of the toolbar as there was an issue with the 3.1 version (I think that was the release). I am running 3.2 at a client in Excel 2007/Essbase 11.1.2 and it's solid.
The only downside I can think of is that it uses the same Alt-S key combination that SmartView uses, so to get to the keystrokes (which is really nice other than this issue) I have to type Alt-S-2-R to get a retrieve. This would not be an issue if SmartView is not in the mix.

Excel Add-In for BPC 7.5 to test Dimension

This Add-In for Excel was developed by me for free use, without any warranty! The VBA code is not encripted.
Functions: Test Hierarchy data of the BPC Dimension before processing Dimension.
Usage: Install Add-In, on the Add-Ins Ribbon you will see one button for this Add-In.
When you have Dimension template opened (in BPC Client or as a standalone file) - press this button.
All Hierarchies will be tested and the resulted TreeView will be presented. In case of error the message will describe the error, the TreeView form will not be shown and the cell with error will be selected.
Enforced rule: Non base members of one Hierarchy cannot have parent in another Hierarchy! (It's not mandatory in BPC but to my mind, linking nodes of one Hierarchy to parents in another Hierarchy will make the dimension unmanageable)
Additional feature: when you see a form with TreeView there is a combobox in the left down corner of the form. This combobox is populated with the list of member properties. If you select some property it will be shown in the TreeView right to each member.
Number of members is limited to 10 000, but it can be changed in the code.

To archive this goal - create some batch job to post data to the different appsets you can use the tool like AutoHotkey to create the script that can:
1.Launch Excel with "C:\Program Files\SAP BusinessObjects\PC_NW\Ev4Excel.xla"
2. Wait for login window to appear on the screen
3. Send keys to select required appset
4. Send username and password
5. Press Send and Refresh Schedules button.
6. Press other buttuns
7. Close Excel
And loop to the next appset

P.S. It's possible to do the same things using Excel VBA, but it will be more complicated and will require some knowledge of Win32 API functions.

Cutom ribbon button and valid RegistrationId for an External Type List

I'm developing a custom ribbon bar command for my particular External Content Type list. I know that for the command to be shown correctly I need a valid RegistrationId which would correspond to my list. But it seems to be unclear for me what to set there
if I use the button against an Extarnal Content Type list because RegistrationId=101 or 100 doesn't work there . Any suggestions?

For your requirement, here are three workarounds for your reference:
1. Use JavaScript to hide the button accordingly.
Add custom ribbon button for this kind of list, then add a JavaScript snippet to the list views or different forms to hide that button according to the checking result
of the list name.
2. Create a custom list definition and create list with ribbon button based on it.
After the site provisioned, delete the original list and create a new list with based on this list definition with similar columns.
3. Make another site template contains this list with the custom ribbon button.

For users currently using the 'legacy' Add-In with 2003, the main 'pain point' is going to be moving to the Add-Ins ribbon, and the corresponding additional clicks / additional keystroke in every shortcut. Current 2007 users will have dealt with this transition already.

JavaScript error under Sp.ribbon.js on SharePoint Online

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to add a custom button on my ribbon for easier approval process, I use JavaScript to do this in a Script Editor web part on a task list view. The script works fine but when he tries to access the ribbon to actually add the button the ribbon crashes
so I don't even have the usual ribbon.
I used the IE JavaScript editor and I have an error on the sp.ribbon.js the "funny" part is that I only use that library I made no modification (also because I'm using SharePoint Online so I don't have access to it).

I didn't write that code but the website where I found it had some review that says that it was working and I'm more a C# dev than a JavaScript so I'm not use to debug it. Is that a version problem an implementation problem and how to solve it ?

I think this is not the right way of customising ribbon. SharePoint has a very powerful ribbon management XML framework. So instead of javascript hacking, I would recommend you to use the XML based ribbon customisation. Reference:

Office 2007 Vibe Add-In with Groupwise 2012

I encountered an odd issue. In Excel 2007:
1. Create a new document
2. In the Vibe Add-In Ribbon Menu, choose "Save As"
3. Choose the location in a workspace to save
4. The save is successful UNLESS I enter something in the Title or Description property options. If those are NOT blank, then the next dialogue I get is the Groupwise Save As Dialogue which has no option to access my Vibe workspaces in Groupwise. (However, my Vibe workspaces do show up in the Groupwise open file dialogue but I cannot see any files in the Vibe workspaces through the Groupwise open dialogue.)

how can i hide only the attach file part in my ribbon which opened as modal dialog.

You can hide the existing and you can also add a custom ribbon with whatever action you want

Acrobat X not installing in Word 2010 toolbar

Using Windows 7, 64-bit, and Office 2010 64-bit version.
Just installed Acrobat X Pro and it is not installing Acrobat into the Word 2010 toolbar, can't locate any Acrobat items in the Word toolbar/com add-in/ribbon menus.
I have installed it successfully on a 64-bit Windows 7 / 32-bit Office 2010 system and it did install Acrobat in the 32-bit Word menus.
Is there a problem with Acrobat X not working with 64-bit Office 2010?
