PPOME and Reporting Structure

I have created two positions (TST_1 and TST_2) under an org unit via PPOME. I want TST_2 to report to TST_1. I should be able to create this relationship through PPOME right? These are the steps I'm taking...
1. PPOME
2. Under the org unit, highlight TST_1
3. Choose 'Reporting Structure' from the drop down
4. TST_1 is still highlighted. Then I click 'Assign'
5. Then highlight 'Is line supervisor of ... Position' in the "Choose Relationship" pop-up, hit the green check mark
6. The next pop-up is "Choose Position", however there are no position objects to choose from
I have both TST_1 and TST_2 positions saved under my org unit; any idea what I can check to find out why TST_2 isn't appearing in my step #6 list to assign to TST_1?
Thanks!

nevermind, figured out the issue.

  • Replicate HR Organisation Management and reporting structure

We have setup the OM and reporting structure in our HR systems. How and in what way can we replicate the same set of data to another ERP client (in a different server)?
Is it via ALE ? What is the objects?
    Best Regards,

    Hi Grace,
If you intend to transfer the org structure from SAP to SAP, the most effective method is to use ALE:
    - You will need to configure the partner profiles of the two systems
    - Use the transaction PFAL for a one time initial load
    - Set up change pointers for message type HRMD_A
    - Run background jobs each night to update the delta changes if you want to keep both systems in sycn.
    Hope this helps.

  • SAP Netweaver Portal - Folder structure and report publishing strategy

    Hi gurus,
I'm working on a project in which we are publishing BW reports in SAP Netweaver Portal (prior to this, we were using SAP Bex Browser) organizing it by Department (workset, 2nd lvl of navigation), Business Processes (workset, 3rd lvl of navigation) and "iview types" (transactions, queries, dashboards and so on). On 1st level we have a workset simply called "Reports".
For each PFCG role we have on BW (ABAP Server), we created a portal role and defined which of the higher navigation tiers is visible to users (delta-linking the top level navigation worksets to the portal role and setting visible accordingly) and then we assigned Portal roles to the appropriated Group (PFCG role) so all users that have access to certain PFCG role can have access to the corresponding Portal role.
    For example:
In BW (ABAP) we have a PFCG Role: Sales PMR Analysis - Administrator, which grants access to Sales Infoproviders, queries and data for PMR analysis. The user that have access to it, should be able to see:
    |Reports|
    |Sales Administration|
    v PMR Analysis
      > Web Queries
      > Transactions
      > Dashboards
      > Workbooks
In Portal we create a workset that has: "Reports" and under it, all Departments (Sales Administration, Financial, Services, Human Resources and so on) set as "not visible". We create a Portal role called PMR Analysis and add the Report/Departments workset, set Sales Administration as visible and add worksets/folders named PMR Analysis, Web queries, Transactions, etc, and all the corresponding iviews under it.
If we assign this new Portal role to the Group of the corresponding PFCG role, the user will see exactly as the example from above.
Pros: The users have a clean view of the reports he/she has access.
Cons: The users doesn't have a clear view of what is available in BW so he can request access. There might be some useful report lost in on of the hundreds of BW roles that he doesn't know it exist.
One of the options would be to grant visibility to ALL departments, business processes and iviews in Portal and let PFCG security roles control user access, but that might be confusing to have an overwhelming amount of links, making it hard to find what the user needs, specially during first access. Not to mention possible security breaches.
So, I'd like to know how other consultants are defining this kind of folder structure and report publishing strategy in Portal. Ideally we would like to be able to have:
    - Visibility of all existant reports even those that the user does not have acess (so he can learn that it exist and request access)
    - Clean view of reports, segmented by department and business processes.
    - Possibility to search for reports, even for those that the user does not have access.
I'd appreciate if you guys can share your experience on this.
    Thanks in advance.
    Leandro

This is not a refutation: your BW developers/consultants should be able to write reports, which points you in case of insufficent backend rights. EP is not designed to be familiar with ABAP security concept and cant take any influence at it.

    Yes, bad idea.
    - Visibility of all existant reports even those that the user does not have acess (so he can learn that it exist and request access)
As you already wrote on your own, this would be not good
    - Clean view of reports, segmented by department and business processes.
    - Possibility to search for reports, even for those that the user does not have access.
This is not covered by SAP, if you wanna provide that, develop it on your own.

  • What is the significance of report writer and report painter

    hi all,
can anyone throw light on report write and report painter, when and why it used with examples.

    Dear Hari,

    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_erp2005/helpdata/en/66/bc7d2543c211d182b30000e829fbfe/frameset.htm
Report Painter allows you to create reports using data from SAP application components, which you can adapt to meet your individual requirements.
Many of your reporting requirements can already be met by using the standard reports provided by various SAP application components. If these SAP standard reports do not meet your reporting needs, Report Painter enables you to define your specific reports quickly and easily.
Report Painter fulfills a function similar to Report Writer, but is easier to use. Most of the functions found in Report Writer have been built into Report Painter; however, you do not need to be familiar with all Report Writer concepts (such as Sets) in order to use Report Painter.
When executing a Report Painter report, it is displayed by the system in Report Writer format. You thus have access to the same functions as for Report Writer reports defined in the same way, and can combine Report Painter and Report Writer reports together in a report group.
Report Painter uses a graphical report structure, which forms the basis for your report definition and displays the rows and columns as they appear in the final report output.
To facilitate report definition, you can use many of the standard reporting objects provided by SAP (such as libraries, row/column models, and standard layouts) in your own specific reports. When you define a Report Painter report you can use groups (sets). You can also enter characteristic values directly.
    Advantages of Report Painter include:
    Flexible and simple report definition
    Report definition without using sets
Direct layout control: The rows and columns are displayed in the report definition as they appear in the final report output, making test runs unnecessary.

  • Directory Scan and Volume Structure Failure

My imac (white, 24") has been running slow and freezing up while attempting to preview files. Ran Disc Utility and OnyX, which gave me the following permission issues:
Permissions differ on "usr/share/derby", should be drwxr-xr-x , they are lrwxr-xr-x
    Repaired "usr/share/derby"
    Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/
But otherwise, both said the disk was fine.
Ran TechTools failed the Directory Scan, Format Scan, and Volume Scan. I restarted from a second partition on the same HD. This partition passed all tests.
I repeated all three tests on the original partition. This time, Disk Utility could not verify or repair the original partition and no longer recognized it as a valid startup disk. I erased the partition and restored from a Time Machine backup. Now, I get the following permission errors:
Permissions differ on "usr/share/derby", should be drwxr-xr-x , they are lrwxr-xr-x
    Repaired "usr/share/derby"
ACL found but not expected on "Library/Preferences/Audio"
    Repaired "Library/Preferences/Audio"
ACL found but not expected on "Library/Preferences/com.apple.alf.plist"
    Repaired "Library/Preferences/com.apple.alf.plist"
    Warning: SUID file "System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/
And while once again OnyX and Disk Utility says the disk is fine, Tech Tools still reports a Directory Scan failure and Volume Structure failure. A subsequent Surface Scan passed.
Ideas? Is this a software failure or a hardware failure? Both partitions are running 10.6.3. This is the second HD on this imac, the previous 750GB failed completely and could not be restored.

    Kyle W wrote:
It says permissions are repaired on those items, but when I verify permissions, they are still not right.
See Mac OS X: Disk Utility's Repair Disk Permissions messages that you can safely ignore. It isn't that the permissions themselves are wrong but that the database of correct permissions on your hard drive the utility refers to has not been updated to reflect the permissions settings & directory structure changes in the most recent OS updates. This is a known issue that affects everyone, but as the article says, you can ignore it.
Mac is not experiencing the same slow down on routine items as it was before, but TechTools is still saying there's a problem.
What version of TechTools are you using? If it is not a current one it may not recognize the recent changes in the file system structure made in Snow Leopard.

  • Report painter libaries and report group

    Hi,
I would like to seek advice on the relationship of libaries and report group.
    1
in GRR2 navigation, i can see libary and report but i do not see report group in the navigation structure. So I would like to know what is the purpose of report group?
    2
From the help it says "A report group is a group of reports and parallel reports from the same library which need to be processed together in one run."
So my question is, since the report already grouped in a single library, why still need to defined report group?
    3
Normally we just run by report that we interested in. So what does it mean "A report group is a group of reports and parallel reports from the same library which need to be processed together in one run".
    4
Possible to have different report group in a library?
Example library ZA1 has 2 report group ZG1 and ZG2. If can, what is the implication to have more than 1 report group.
    Thanks

  • SQL Server and Reporting Services

What is the best practice for replicating the same reports for different clients using different databases in the same SQL Server and Reporting Services?
    For example:
Create a single database for each client.
Create a single data source in Reporting services for each client.
Create a folder in Reporting Service for each client, and replicate all the report and point each report to its correct data source.
Is there an easier method for this type of solution.

    Hi acedenoBI,
According to your description, you have reports which has same structure for each user. Now you want to have a folder for each client to keep their reports. And each client should have a single database and single data source. Right?
In Reporting Service, if we need one data source to connect different database dynamically, we may need to use parameter and create dynamic connection string. However, in this scenario, since we need to have a single folder and data source for each
client, so we can just make copies of the whole project. Modify the Connection string in each data source, change the Initial Catalog to be the corresponding database for the client. This can be an easy way to meet the requirement.

  • What is query and reporting

    hai sap gurus..
what is difference the query and reporting
in an interview i have been asked.
how many queries and how many reporting  did you created.

    Hi Naren,
    SAP Query
An ABAP Workbench tool that enables users without knowledge of the ABAP programming language to define and execute their own reports.
In ABAP Query, you enter texts and select fields and options to determine the structure of the reports. Fields are selected from functional areas and can be assigned a sequence by numbering.
ABAP Query offers the following types of reports:
    Basic lists
    Statistics
    Ranked lists
Query used for short run based i.e the format of the report output you can change frequently.
    Report (CA)
A compilation of data for a company or group of companies in the form of a table or list.
An evaluation is the result of executing a report. It can be either displayed on the screen or sent to a printer.
Here ABAP programing language will be used to execute the report.
Report used for long run it is standard output we can,t change frequently.
I hope it will clear for you,

  • Employee reporting Structure

    Hi experts,
In my current client we have a requirement for employee reporting structure.
The requirement is one person reporting to maltipal supervisors. is it posible in standard SAP. or if i go for development how it will work how it has to be developed.
    please guide me on this.

    Hi,
Yes, there are ways to do this, but the solution will depend on the outcome you need. You can for example have more than one relationship A012 for your OU (I don't like this one, but I've seen it working). You can use other types os relationships between position and position, I've done that in a customer with relationship B/A 004 and it worked. I've already seen new relationships created in PD in order to represent different types of structure, you can create as many as you want via customize. Everything will depend on the type of structure you want to build. Please be more specific, maybe I can help more.
    Best regards,
    Thais

    hi santosh,
Where Is Report Painter/Report Writer Used?
Initially, both tools were only available to the FI/CO modules. Later, with the introduction of the Logistics Information System and Flexible Analyses in Release 3.x, the functionality of these tools was further expanded. It still is not widely known that the Report Painter/Writer can be used for reporting against structures other than those delivered in FI and CO (see TechTalk on page 8-4).
A common misconception in the user community is that Report Painter/Report Writer can only be used to report against a single table. However, some reporting structures do report against multiple tables. For example, CCSS (for Cost Center Accounting) refers to tables COSP, COSS and more, depending on the key figure configuration. Similarly, FI-SL (Special Purpose Ledger) reporting structures include summary and line-item tables (the key figure set determines where the data comes from).
To configure other table joins, views may be created joining the necessary tables, and views can be added to the control tables, via Flexible Analyses in LIS. Report Painter/Report Writer can be used in almost any application area in R/3 to report on currencies and quantities.
    Data tables supported
Both Report Painter and Report Writer can be used to report on the following tables and tables types:
< Evaluation structures set up in the Logistics Information System (LIS). These structures normally begin with an “S” or “ZF.” Several different tables and views within the R/3 System can be added as evaluation structures.
Note: You cannot add cluster tables, such as BSEG.
< CCSS is used for Cost Center Accounting (CO-CCA), Internal Orders (CO-OPA), Activity Based Costing (CO-ABC) and for cost element reports in Project Systems (PS).
< GLFUNCT is used for functional area reporting in cost-of-sales accounting.
< GLPCT and GLPCOP are used for Profit Center Accounting (CO-PCA/EC-PCA).
< FILC is used for Legal Consolidations (FI-LC).
< COFIT is used for the Controlling Reconciliation Ledger (CO-CEL).
< ZZ tables are created for the Special Purpose Ledger (FI-SL).
< FIMC is used for consolidations in the Enterprise Controlling module (EC-LC).
< GLT0 is used for Financial Accounting (General Ledger) reports by account, company, and business area (FI-GL).
< KKBC, KKBE, and KKBU are used for the Controlling Product Costing module (CO-Costing).
< New in Release 4.0A: RWCOOM is used for CO-CCA, CO-OPA, and CO-ABC. RWCOOM is used for special standard reports like internal order budget reports, cost center budget reports and cost component reports.
Note: RPPS was used for Project Systems (PS). However, it is obsolete and will no longer be supported in Release 4.0. In Release 3.x there were only two special reports (6P70 and 6P71) using RPPS. These reports cannot be called directly, but via ABAP reports RKOPLAN0 and RKOPLAN1.
How to Access Report Painter/Report Writer?
To access the Report Painter you may use either of the following two methods:
    < Transaction FGRP
< From the SAP main menu, choose Information systems ® Ad hoc reports® Report painter.
Report Writer functions can be accessed from within the Report Painter. To access Report Writer, choose the following menu path from the SAP main menu:
Information systems ® Ad hoc reports® Report painter® Report Writer.
How Is Report Painter/Report Writer Organized?
Report Painter/Report Writer has four main components:
< Sets: Sets are logical groupings of characteristic values. For example, a cash line on a balance sheet is made up of a set of cash accounts or an energy product line on an inventory report is made up of a set of energy products. Variables can also be created which are placeholders for sets, or values within sets.
< Libraries: Libraries control which characteristics and key figures from a table are available for reporting.
< Reports: Reports hold a definition of the rows, columns, and overall data selection. They also include the header and footer texts and layout settings.
< Report Groups: Report groups can contain one or more reports. The report group is what you execute—not the actual report. A report group is generated to create a set of ABAP programs that produce the reports.
How Does Report Painter Differ from Other Reporting Tools?
< With the exception of row titles which have text fields, Report Painter/Report Writer reports display numerical fields only (for example, dollar and quantity fields). This is not a requirement for ABAP Query and typical line item reporting tools, which can display arbitrary text columns.
< While printed Report Painter/Report Writer reports appear much the same way on paper as they do on screen, the Drilldown reporting tool produces a different output format. Drilldown reporting is an online analytical tool which can be used to drill down to different levels of detail, but it is infrequently used for printing.
< Report Painter/Report Writer reports are hierarchical and take advantage of configured hierarchies (for example, with cost center hierarchies). You can also execute Report Painter/Report Writer reports from each level within a hierarchy.
< Report Painter/Report Writer reports can handle multiple currency/quantity units within a single column.
< Report Painter/Report Writer is well suited to handle reports that require mass production. For example, Report Painter/Report Writer is a particularly effective tool for creating month-end reports.
