  • PRE 7 Fails to Open From PSE 7 Slide Show

I have a friend is is attempting to send a large slide show from the PSE 7 Slide Show Editor to PRE 7. The slide show has about 300 images.
After clicking on PRE 7 in the Otput command of the slide Show Editor, it first appears that PRE 7 is going to open as expected. Then the screen changes back to the Slide Show Editor.
Is this being caused by a resource or meory limitation? I believe they are running Win XP or Vista.
    Any idea what is happening?
    TIA

Possibly a resource issue as 300 slides is quite large. When you click output to PRE your creation gets sent as a single clip. Try making two slideshows of 150 or 4 x 75 and then mix them back together in the PRE timeline.

  • Updateable Report : re-display collection & Update Button question

This a sequel to a previous Updateable Report question I had.
Varad pointed me to this doc which has been incredibly helpful .
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/
    howtos/tabular_form.html#RESTRICTIONS
    I was\am having the following issue :
Let's zoom to the part where we create a region to display the tabular form for the previously saved collection , and drill down to the part where we create an UPDATE EMP button for that displayed collection :
I was not able to display the collection again when I failed the validation a 2nd time. ie, clicking on the UPDATE EMP button after it displays both the errors-post validation and after displaying the collection ( of course) would return me to the previous report pre-collection creation. When I turned debug on I found out that it was not even creating the collection and was hence deleting it before displaying the subsequent page.
So what I did differently from what the documention instructs is as follows :
I removed the page reference on the 'branch to page' of the UPDATE EMP button. In my case, the default 'Branch to ' Page after Processing is the same page I am using for this part of the application.
So when I remove the reference to the page number. for that button, the page is then able to re-create the collection and hence re-display the collection so I can re-fix the 2nd error ( ... and 3rd) and finally update the report .
Just wondering if anyone else has had the same experience ?
    Thanks !

The columns and rows have a set format for the Id, so if you know one Id you know the row and the ids of all the other columns.
As an example, this will show the value of column 6 when you click on any column with the function call in the Element Attributes:
    Script:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    function showCol6(col){
      var col6 = document.getElementById("f06_" + col.id.substr(4,4));
      alert(col6.value);
    </script>Element Attributes:
onclick=showCol6(this);You could also use a Named Column template, specific to this region, to include the column values directly in the function call, but I think it's best to stick with the ApEx defaults if possible.

  • PSE 4 improvements for "Collections"

Those who use PSE Collections and find that Collections are important, might be interested to learn about the following PSE 4 enhancements for the support of "Collections":
    1) PSE 4 supports Version Set manipulation operations, while photos are viewed as part of a Collection.
While viewing photos as part of a collection in collection order (i.e. after selecting a collection in the right part of the Organizer window in order to display all photos of that collection in collection order), it is now possible with PSE 4 to "Reveal all items/photos of a Version set" and then to use the various Version Set manipulation commands (i.e. "Revert to Original", "Remove items from Version Set", "Set as Top Item", "Convert Version Set to individual items"). This was not possoible with PSE 3.
For me, this enhancement is significant, because I perform nearly all my photo-editing activities while viewing my photos in a collection sequence, that orders/sequences the photos in such a way that similar photos are adjacent to each other.
    2) Faster re-sequencing of photos within large collections
With PSE 3 (and with PSA 1 and PSA 2), re-arranging with "Drag and Drop" the sequence of photos within a large collection was for me nearly a nightmare, when needing to move one or multiple photos to a new "distant location" within the collection (by "distant location", I mean a location that can not be shown in the same window/screen as the original location of the photos that I want to move).
With PSE 4 the drag and drop of photos within a collection to a "distant location" is much more efficient than in PSE 3 (and in PSA 2).
If I understand properly the subject: this enhancement is the result of more general PSE 4 enhacements for scrolling operations.
    3) Editing Photos that are part of a Collection
With PSE 3, when editing a photo that is part of one (or more) Collections, PSE was replacing in the Collection(s) the original version of the photo by the edited version of the photo (this is as expected and is fine) and was then adding the original version of the Photo at the beginning of the Collection(s). The collection(s) was/were then containing both the edited version and the original version of the photo (as opposed to containing only the top photo within the Version Set). After a Photo-Edit, I had to determine in which Collection(s) the edited photo was located and I had to remove manually the original version of the photos from the Collection(s). This was a pain.
With PSE 4, this problem has been fixed. After an edit, the original version of the photo is not added to the beginning of the collection.
Also, when converting a PSE 3 or PSA 2 Catalog, PSA 4 does not add the original version of edited photos that are part of a versionset to the beginning of all of the collection. This too is an enhancement over PSE.3 (and by the way: when migrating from PSA 2, also Creations are properly migrated something that PSE 3 is not doing).
These PSE 4 enhancements to the support of collections contributed to my decision to migrate to PSE 4. It is my impression that others who also like and use extensively Collections might be interested in these PSE 4 enhancements.

    Hi Barb
When I tried nearly one year ago to migrate from PSA 2 to PSE 3, I encountered the following problem with all my pre-existing Creations: the conversion process lost the information about the sequencing of the photos within the Creation. After the conversion it was up to the user to re-order the photos within the Creation. I hated it.
Also, I believe to remember (but I am not 100% sure anymore about it): for every edited photo, the converted Creation contained two versions of the photo - The Original version and the latest updated version.
After a migration from PSA 2 to PSE 4, I do not have on my PC these problems anymore. All my pre-existing Creations (they are slide-shows) have been converted without problems to PSE V4.
I am not sure to understand correctly what your following words mean "When I looked at the Photo Browser icons for some creations, they seemed to be the same pale icons".
On my PC, the color of the PSE 4 icons of the Creations are all pale blue and are all identical (i.e. the icons do not show any photo of the Creation). But the Creations are nevertheless OK.

  • Premiere Elements 11 (Trial) question

    Hello
What might be the reason why Premiere Elements 11 (Trial) will not open up when I double-click on its desktop icon?
I have successfully installed it today - but not used it - and I can see it in the Control Panel and there is a folder for it under Adobe in my Windows 7 Program Files folder on my C drive.
    Thanks
    Steve

You are correct. The only way to test that would be to install an nVidia, or AMD/ATI card, disable the Intel embedded chip, and install the latest driver from the mfgr's. Web site - then test.
For general computing, the video card/chip and its driver, are less important, and e-mail clients, word processors, spreadsheet programs, and Web browsers usually work just fine. However, with programs like PrE, 3D creation programs and extreme games, rely very heavily on the interface with the video driver. PrE needs that, just for running its GUI (Graphical User Interface). It is programs, in that latter group, that tax the video driver very heavily.
I would start with this FAQ Entry (if I have posted this link upthread, I apologize): http://forums.adobe.com/thread/792580?tstart=0 It starts with a general checklist on getting things set up and running for PrE. Then, it goes into some tips on tuning up one's computer and OS. Finally, it lists many troubleshooting tips, and links to some tools to help in that process, going from easy to harder. If you find, that after that article, things still do not work properly, that will narrow the focus to the video driver, with pretty high probability - though only the test outlined above, could verify that.
Though I have had Intel CPU's, since the first PC hit my desk in the 80's, I would not rely on one of their GPU chips, due to the lack of driver support, and always recommend that one go with an nVidia, or AMD/ATI chip set, instead. Going back some years, I was a fan of the Matrox video cards, especially on my graphic design computers. However, like Intel, Matrox was deficient in their driver support, so I finally dropped them for nVidia.
Even then, there can be developmental dead ends. My current laptop is about 5 years old, and has an nVidia GeForce 8800M GTX. I am still running XP-Pro SP-3 on it, and nVidia has not done a new driver for that chip and that OS, since mid-2012. All of my other Adobe programs run fine on it, except for PrE 11, which has some display issues. It's nothing that I cannot live with, especially as I have a new laptop on order. Still, and even with an nVidia chip, the driver support for it, with my older OS, has run its course. I, who always urge people to update their video drivers, am now out of luck - no new driver for that chip and OS - dead end.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Cleanup RAC DB

Hi, I'm in middle of RAC instalaltion (2-node cluster) on CRS 10.2.0.4 and DB 10.2.0.4 versions on RHEL 4u6-64-bit. I could successfully install clusterware/DB and upgrade to 10.2.0.4 version. I started creating the Database but the database creation failed due to the mount options for controlfile location was missing notime0. I added that but now i had to delete the files created for the database, whihc failed. When i try to recreate the DB, its failing obvisouly as its finding the same name. I cleaned up the oratab and other locations. My question is when i do the crs start ot stat, the clusterware is still looking and showing offline for the DB which failed creation and its two instances are being tried by CRS. How do i clean up the failed DB so the CRS goes back to the pre-DB creation and don't look for the failed DB nodes?
    thanks

  • Usr/local exists?

I'm a LaTeX user and I want to uninstall MacTeX removing all the files or folders by hand. So, what I need to know is if "usr/local" comes with Mac OS X 10.4 "Tiger"?
If "usr/local" comes with Tiger, the following subfolders exist?
    -bin
    -doc
    -include
    -lib
    -man
    -share
And what about these subfolders of usr, exist too?
    -bin
    -lib
    -libexec
    -local (I said it above)
    -sbin
    -share
    -standalone
-X11R6 (of course this folder comes with Tiger)
I need the help of a Mac Expert who tells me what folders come with Tiger for no removing important files from the Operative System.
    Thanks.

I don't think '/usr/local' exists in a base install. For example, try running:<pre>mdls -name kMDItemFSCreationDate /usr/*</pre>The creation date of my '/usr/local' is different from '/usr/bin' or '/usr/sbin' among others that I am sure are a part of the default, and which all share the same date.
However, LaTeX isn't the only thing that might install there so it would probably be a good idea to go through its contents before deleting it. Also, I'm not familiar with MacTex - does it provide any sort of installation log? Programmes installed using Apple's "Installer.app" will leave a record in "/Library/Receipts", for example...

  • Edit forte's generated code

How in the world do you edit Forte's auto-generated code? I know there's a setting somewhere in the gui, but I can't find it.

If you select a component and go to the code generation tab you can insert your own post/pre init/creation code for that component and your code will appear in the un-editable section of the code. This is still not good enough though, because you cant actually change existing lines of code... but maybe you could copy a line of code eg. connectionSource1.setUsername("UserOne"); copy the code into the code generation property box and alter the code e.g connectionSource1.setUsername(userNameVariable); and that should work ok .... maybe not hehe but it could be worth a try :)

  • No Pre-commitment at PR creation time in ECC -issue at PO creation in SRM

    Hi all,
We are on SRM 5.0 Extendec CLassic with ECC 6.0
I have a couple of questions wrt budget check and commitment creation in SRM.
1.When a PRis transferred from ECC to SRM,is the budget check possible? If yes, what are the settings in ECC/SRM?
    2. After a PR is transferred to SRM,SC gets created. When creating a SC,is the budget check done?If so,if the funds are available,is acommitment posted to ECC?
3.IF the Budget check error was not encountered at the time of SC creation, while creating a PO,why does the system gives error that "Funds not available".Is this correct?
We have somePR's(inventory) which get transferred to SRM,but after the SC is created and aPO is issued for that SC,systemchecks the budget and throws an error that funds not available.
What we want is that at the time ofPR creation itself, system should check the funds and disallow PRcreation if funda are not available.
Can anyone tell me whether we need to implement the controlin  ECC at the of PR creation or is this issue because of no commitment happening at SC level?
    Please clarify.

    Hi Muthu/Virendra and other xperts,
    Any suggestions?

  • Pre defined value in bp creation/change

we have two fields like field1 and field2 in BP creation/Change screen..our requirment is like if we fill Field 1 with A then by default Field2 should fill with SupplierA ..if I fill the Field1 with B then system should fill the field2 with Suppler B .
    EX:
    Field1     A
    Field2    Supplier A
    Field1    B
    Field2   Supplier B
Please let me know if the question is not clear

    Hi Ravi,
-> Are these two 'Custom fields'?
-> Did you add then using EEWB?
If YES then EEWB will create PBO and PAI modules. You can find them using SE80 Tcode. You can write the code in PAI module for Field1 so that that will populate value to Field2.
If NO then please let us know if these are SAP standard field. In some case you can use BADIs and achieve your requirement.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi
I have not tried this. I guess, Yes, ideally a notification should be sent.

  • ADF: approach needed to do pre-processing on creation of a record

    Hi,
i need a proper approach for doing some select and updates from the database when a new record is created. The select and update is not related to the entity object base table.
at the moment i have overriden the create method in the Enitity Implementation class:
    1. Select a value from a table
    2. Change this value in the database (and commit)
    3. use the new value as a default value in the in the EO's new record
The problem is that i want this to be done as two independant transactions, ie. the update in isolation of the entity objects underlying transaction. I have tried using PreparedStatements and postChanges() (which should commit the first transaction without validating the state of the Entity Object?) But i find that the changes are not effected in the database until commit on the entity object is called.
    help appreciated,
    Brenden

If you are using Oracle database, I would strongly advise you NOT to use this approach.
First, using the code you have given, you can easily get two different records with the same ID. Image two different sessions (users) that are trying to get their IDs. It is possible that the two sessions read the same last number, each increments this number in its own context and then assign the same number to its newly created record. To avoid this, you should try to lock the sequence row before reading the last number, then increment it, save it back in the database and then release the lock. This is very bad approach that limits severely the concurrency.
Secondly, this approach does not allow you to create two new entities in the same transaction. Committing the transaction in the create() method for the second entity will try to post the first one, which might not have its mandatory fields populated, for example. The transaction will fail to commit as there are non-validated entities in its pending list.
So in brief, I suggest that you use native database sequences for this as generating unique numbers in a concurrent and scalable manner is what they have been created for. You can use DBSequence datatype combined with a before-insert trigger for this.

  • About runtime sequence creation and view dare pre commmit.

    Dear All,
    My 2 New Question are:
1)Could Oracle suggest to create sequence(DDL) from run-time.That means I need(My client requirement) regenerate of sequence(I know it is possible by cycle but i don't know MAX value when it will cycle)as monthly or a specific time so I want to drop sequence and create sequence by a)Programmetically runtime
    b) Oracle scheduler runtime .
Have any good and better Idea? Any risk factor?
Note that at a time possibly more than 100 users will data entry with our software.
2)My New query is Could I view table data which was not yet COMMITTED from other session-other user.

  • SRM Classic - Automatic PO creation in R/3 only for PReqs based on catalogs

    Dear Experts,
in SRM 7.0 Classic Scenario, i am facing the following question w.r.t. automatic PO creation on the R/3 side:
Is it possible to have automatic PO creation in R/3 only for those purchase requisition items, that are based on shopping cart items from a third party punch out catalog?
The idea is, that the requisitioner on the SRM EBP side shops in a catalog. Once the the SC is approved and the purchase requisition is created in the R/3 system, automatically a PO should be created based on that PReq. This would save the time for the buyer, who do not need to pay attention to this document, because the purchase from the catalog guarantees the buyer, that the already pre-agreed conditions are getting applied.
But PReqs that are based on Free Text shopping cart EBP items must not be taken into account for the automatic PO creation.
Is there a way to distinguish between the catalo-based and the non-catalog based PReq positions?
    Thank you.

    Hello Ashutosh,
thank you very much for that idea!
I would have the following question w.r.t. to such configuration:
If i configure that the PO creation for complete SC should happen for a certain purchasing group, would it be somehow possible to arrange that when a Catalog item is put into the shopping cart, that only that certain purchasing group gets defaultet? (the idea behind this is, to leave the free text shopping carts to already known purchasing groups and to keep the purchase requisition as the backend object for this configuration. And additionally to create new purchasing groups, that should be linked to the catalog purchases and to POs as the backend objects).
    Thanks again for the help!
