Pre not charging on touchstone

Last night my Pre refused to charge while seated on the Touchstone. It is NOT a problem with the magnetic connection or the amout of power being supplied to the TS since I have been charging on the TS for several weeks with no problems until last night. I also tried a soft reset of the phone and it did not help. I finally connected the micro USB directly to the jack on the Pre then it charged as normal.
This morning (with a full charge on the Pre) I tried putting the Pre back on the TS and this time it went into charging mode with no problems. Is there an issue where the Pre won't charge on the TS if the battery is too low? Has anybody else had their Pre randomly decide to not charge while on the Touchstone?

I'm assuming from your post that you are saying you have one touchstone with two phones?  (please correct me if I'm wrong).  If one phone charges and the other does not, it points more to a problem with the phone that isn't charging.  I would start by removing and reseating the replacement battery cover you installed on the phone.  There is a little circuitry on the back of that piece of plastic with metal contacts that press against other contacts on the Pre.  If those contacts are not making a good connection, the Pre wouldn't be getting a good charge.
If that doesn't work, you could try swapping the two back covers between the one that works and the one that doesn't.  If the problem shifts between the two phones, then it sounds like the circuitry on the back cover went bad, and I'd go see if you could exchange it.  If the problem doesn't shift, then the second Pre isn't accepting a charge from the backing and probably has a defect.
I hope this helps you narrow down the problem.

  • [Sprint] Palm Pre Not Charging via Wall Adapter

I noticed this morning that my phone battery was not fully charged before leaving for work. So, I tried switching USB cords and plugging it into the wall -- nothing. I then tried charging through the USB port in the PC and my system recognized the Pre and gave me the option to charge it. This happened suddenly as the wall adapter worked the night before. I also tried the car charger and it works as well.
Anyone else have their wall adapter fail all of a sudden? I ran the test for the wall adapter on the Pre and it failed to recognize that it was plugged in to the wall adapter. I'm trying to figure out if it's just the adapter that tanked suddenly or if the actual phone is the problem.
    Thanks!

I've had this happen a couple times, but it doesn't appear to be related to the source of power.  Sometimes it doesn't tell me that it is charging.  And once in awhile it does, but the battery either continues to drain or stays steady.  Seems rather random, so I guess you just have to monitor the charging progress.

  • Palm Pre not charging...

I'm on my 3rd battery and 2nd unit, 2nd setof cables and plugs/coils...
When I go to bed, the phone says it's charging...when I wake up it's deader than George Washington!  I've attempted charges via USB AND induction coil...having same results with BOTH units...
Verizon swears they've never heard of this problem...clearly they're wrong...
This is getting to be a royal annoyance...  Can't wait until Verizon gets iPhones...this palm is history...which really sucks because I've been a Palm user for a VERY long time and I like the products..

  • I just bought a Touchstone and it will not charge my Pre.

I just bought a touchstone today because I believe my motherboard is messed up on my pre so I need to charge it wirelessly.  So my phone has died completely and I go to charge it and I get the red battery symbol with the electrical bolt.  Then I got the cord with the question mark above it symbol.  Now I am not getting the cord with the question mark, and I have been waiting for about an hour for my phone to come on and still nothing.
I have no idea what to do.

The touchstone can charge from 100% dead, however also please make sure that you are not connecting the touchstone through the USB port on your computer, and plugging it in straight to an AC wall outlet.
Also, if your device is not charging via USB and you suspect there may be a problem with the device that is not due to physical damage, I recommend visiting a Sprint repair center or contacting Palm technical support for repair or replacement.
    Hope this helps,

  • Pre - won't charge w/ Touchstone...?

Hi, I bought two Touchstones for my Pre and have had 0 issues since 6/6 but today I'll put it on the Touchstones and nada! I even switched backs thinking maybe that was the issue.
The only change since 6/6 I've had was the Sprint store transfered my old contacts from my Katana today.
    Any ideas how to fix?
Post relates to: Pre p100eww (Sprint)

I've just recently noticed a problem with my Palm Pre that sounds similar, specifically, that my phone doesn't always charge from the Touchstone. And I have two, one at work and one at home; I've observed the problem with both of them.
Specifically, sometimes, when I put the phone on the Touchstone, it just doesn't charge. A reboot fixes this, whether it's sitting on the Touchstone or not when I reboot it.
I've also noticed once that my Pre seemed not to charge when I plugged in the micro-usb plug with the third-party car charger-to-USB outlet thingy I have. I can't quite be sure of that, having just maybe noticed it once, but I'll keep an eye out for it to happen again.
I've had a Pre and two Touchstones since late July. I've only noticed these issues in the last week and a half or less.
The potentially confounding thing is that I got a replacement Pre some 3-ish weeks ago, so I don't think I can rule out the possibility that there's just something wrong with the replacement Pre's charging systems.
Others have reported related and, more recently, same-sounding problems at PreCentral (http://forums.precentral.net/palm-pre-accessories/184597-touchstone-problems.html ), and someone there brought up the possibility that this was an issue that's come up since the 1.3.5.1 update.
The possibility of this being a 1.3.5.1 issue is intriguing, but I find myself wondering whether software can affect how the physical process of battery-charging works.
Anyone here have any insight or news?
    Thanks.

  • Palm Pre crazy symptoms: "phone offline", will not charge battery, will not start, error message "an error has occured that cannot be resolved"

This is a long description of a series of problems with my new Palm Pre. You may wish to search the text to find your specific issue(s). There is no solution in my post. Look for possible answers in the responses to come.
I bought my Palm Pre 4 days ago and it arrived 2 days ago. Phone worked great. Last night I plugged in the phone and updated the OS. After completion, I selected "Done" and went to bed.
    - First Series of Issues: "Phone Offline", will not charge battery -
In upper lefthand corner of the phone there is the message "phone offline". Although the phone has been charging all night it reads "26% battery". I called the general Sprint tech support number and we tried the following things:
    1) Restart phone (press and hold power button, then select "turn off". after power down, press and hold power button to power on.)
    2) Reset the phone (several different ways - call tech support so that you do this correctly)
The individual at Sprint then sent me to another tech support person, presumably 2nd tier.
    - Second Series of Issues: Error message "an error has occured that cannot be resolved" -
Sprint tech support person #2 also had me restart and reset the phone in a number of ways. In her words "we've tried every palm pre trick I know" and each time the phone was unresponsive. Often we received the error message "phone is offline". We did a full erase and after that the phone would no longer restart. At this point the error message came up saying "an error has occured that cannot be resolved" which referred me to www.palm.com for assistance. I think it's important to note here that this was not the typical error message (black screen with white letters) but rather the blue sky background with a semitransparent box over it with white text.
Sprint tech support person #2 then connected me with Palm support and the dance continued. Again we tried a whole bunch of resetting and restarting and erasing options. Palm support instructed me to go to: www.palm.com/rom to download WebOS Doctor, which I did. I downloaded the file. While that was happening he had me hold the "volume up" button and plug the phone into the charger. This caused a USB symbol to appear on the phone. When the file was complete I received an error message that the file couldn't run. Palm tech support person seemed surprised. I mentioned that I was on a Mac and he said he couldn't help me. He then transferred me to another Palm support person who works with Mac users.
Palms tech support person #2 then informed me that I should have selected the "mac" download option on www.palm.com/rom. I verbally walked her through the whole series of webpages, telling her that it says that you need Windows (version whatever) or Mac (version whatever) but that at no time was there an option to download a different WebOS Doctor for different operating systems. After some more discussion she told me she would have to have someone call me back tomorrow.
    - Third Series of Issues: phone stuck on USB symbol -
So at the moment the phone is completely useless. Not fantastic. I booted up the mac in Windows 7 and downloaded WebOS Doc and received the same error. I also ran Windows Vista virtually and received the same error. Later this afternoon I'm heading into work to try the same thing on Windows XP.
In the meantime, I got onto this forum and located a thread that provided a direct link to the necessary file:
    palm.cdnetworks.net/staging/rom/webosdoctorp100ewwsprint.jar
After downloading that file, which I realized could totally be a virus, I was able to get WebOS Doc working on my computer. It required that I recharge the phone completely before beginning and now it's on the screen that says "Don't disconnect your phone" and the file is at 3% complete. Only... it's been at 3% complete for almost 30 minutes.
I am hoping that Palm will follow up with me tomorrow, but I'm leaving at 7am on a business trip and would love to have the thing working. Any suggestions are welcome, even if you can just tell me how to get the think disconnected safely before my flight tomorrow. I don't fancy getting through security with my phone wired to my laptop.
    Thanks.

    Hello and welcome to the forums;
Our phone support is open every day Monday through Sunday, although there are different hours of operation for the weekend. If after a webOS Doctor reset you are still experiencing the same problems, I would likely recommend replacement, either in a local store for your carrier or through our technical support department.
There may be additional technical support offered or suggested over the phone, this would need to be done first before a replacement could be issued.

  • Credit card Payment issue - Customer was not charged

This one is a strange one...Please help me
Invoice # 15025278 was created yesterday for $96.39.  Amex cc info was on the order, so charge should have processed automatically.  As of yesterday, only $90.98 charged and cleared leaving a balance of $5.41 still open.  My understanding from when we asked why invoices get split into 2 or 3 charge transactions sometimes is that the pre-auth $ amount doesnu2019t match the invoice $ amount, so the system charges the original pre-auth $ amount and then has to get another pre-auth for the remaining balance before it gets charged separately.
The problem here is that the system has not charged the balance.  In fact Iu2019ve never seen this before, but if you look up the invoice on VA03, it doesnu2019t say u201Cclearedu201D, it says u201Cpartly clearedu201D.  should I just charge the balance manually to clear?
    Thanks,
    Kishore

  • HELP!!! mac book not charging

ibought my mac book back in 2008 and have nothing but great things to say about it. Recently i ran into a charging problem where it just says not charging at the top. My mac is still working fine but i would like it to charge. I was wondering if it would be the charger, battery, or both? someone help me please

You'll want to provide your battery information.  The process is a little different depending on whether or not you have Lion installed or not.
    1) Pre-Lion:  Click on the Apple logo on the top left of your display.  Select "About this Mac" and then select "More Info".  Scroll down the left pane and click on "Power".  On the right pane, scroll down to the battery section and copy that whole section and paste it here.
    2) With Lion:   Click on the Apple logo on the top left of your display and select "About this Mac".  You'll get a pop-up like below.  Select "System Report".  On the System Report, scroll down the left pane and click on "Power".  On the right pane, scroll down to the battery section and copy that whole section and paste it here.

  • Razr not charging now totally dead

This afternoon I plugged my phone to its wall charger and about an hour later I when I went to get it, it had not charged at all. Infact it was down to the thinnest red line. By the time I got home it was totally dead. So I got my other wall charger thinking that maybe there was something wrong with the first charger, and again no charge. I also did the power/down vol and no response. It has been working fine, I've never had this problem before and I totally dread the thoughts of having anything to do with the staff at our local Verizon store. Help! Thanks so much.

Hey there slm2110. I am sorry about the charging issues that you are having with your device. It sounds like it needs an energy boost and I am here to revive it. I am concerned that you don't feel comfortable visiting your local Verizon Wireless store. If you have been mistreated in any way, please bring it to my attention so I can submit the proper feedback. I also apologize for the delay in my response and I appreciate your patience.
Were you able to get your phone turned back on?
If the phone was charged, the way to get it back on would be through a soft reset. To do that you would want to press and hold down the power key and volume key on the same time for about 10 seconds. It sounds like you have already tried this and I am sorry if it has not worked.
If you have tried multiple chargers to try to bring it on and it is still off, we would have to look into replacement options. If you are still under warranty we can replace the phone at no cost to you as long as there is no physical or water damage done to the device.
If your outside of warranty, but you have insurance on the device, you can place a claim at www.phoneclaim.com.
If you are outside of the warranty and do not have insurance then we can either activate an older device for you or else you can look into our Certified Pre Owned Program by visiting http://vz.to/rcDvLW.
If you have an upgrade available you can than upgrade to a brand new device. Let us know if you need additional assistance.

  • Satellite L500-14X - Battery does not charge after upgrade to Win 8

    HI,
after upgrating my laptop to Win 8 the battery stops charging...
the message says..."pluged but not charging"....
    Any suggestion........exept to reinstall win7...??

    Hi
Usually there is no big difference between the Win 7 and Win 8 so I really dont understand why this battery issue should be related to Win 8.
In my opinion its not Win 8 problem and I think even if you would install Win 7, this issue would not be solved
    Try this:
Disconnect the AC adaptor and remove the battery
Now leave the notebook disconnected for a longer period of time (10 hours)
Then press and hold power button 30 sec long and then connect both parts.
The Ac adaptor should be connected for a longer period of time to allow the system to pre-charge the Battery

  • Ipod 1st generation not charging

    Hi,
I've an ipod shuffle (1st generation) that is not charging, the shuffle is seen by my system and I was able to update it 1.1.4 firmware version today( I also restored it), but when the shuffle is connected to the high-power USB port it lights with the amber light to indicate that it's charging. However it never turns green and on removing it after >4hrs there is no activity from it and the battery indicator light does not light. It is out of warranty now so I was thinking of replacing the battery myself, however the fact that it's not charging at all would give me doubts that it may not be the battery and might be related to the circuit board.
    Anybody seen this symptom before?
    Paddy

  • IPhone 3GS no longer recognized in iTunes and does not charge via wall

I upgraded my iMac to iTunes 9.2 when it came out.
My wife then upgraded her iPhone 3GS to iOS4.
Since then it is not recognized in iTunes and does not charge via the wall adapter.
I realize this topic crosses over with several ongoing discussions, but there are no 3rd party peripherals involved here.
The only major changes to our set up have been the itunes and iOS upgrades.
The battery is running down, any ideas to fix this, or other similar experiences welcome.

Went to the Apple store and they replaced the cable.

  • Hi everybody, my Macbook air mid 2012 MD 231 suddenly shut down then i can not turn it on. I heard a sound like a fuse is blown or something like that. Did any system break or burnt? I did not charge at that moment. Plz help

my Macbook air mid 2012 suddenly turn off after a strange sound (like the sound òf a fuse has blown or something like that) and I also feel a burnt smell too while i am watching a film on the internet and did not charge the laptop at this moment. The sound was from the left of it, and now just a dark screen , even I tried charging it (still has green light at the charge tool). I bought it on 13st April 2013, not often use.
I love apple and i am so sad that a new product which i seldom use could be break so easily and outstanding. It's so late in my country now but i am too disappoint about the trouble so i am writing with hope of supporting from Apple and the community.
    Please help , thank bro

You will have to take it to an Apple Store for repair.

  • Battery heating up, now it is Not Charging

For a while I have had the issue of my macbook becoming very warm when charging, or in use. And it would often say not charging, then i would have to remove and insert the charger a few times before it would work.
Now it is not charging at all, and the battery is at 0%.

If the heat is coming from the battery itself, you probably need a new one. If you're near an Apple Store or third-party service depot, they have a diagnostic they can run to determine if your battery has failed and needs to be replaced. Depending on your model, the battery may be something you can swap out, or would need to be done with a special tool.

  • Venue 8 Pro not charging?

I have not used this tablet a lot for the first couple of months I had it, then it was not used for 4 months I enjoyed it but mainly wanted it for travel. I used it for month while traveling in October it worked fine and put it up since then I got it out and put it on charge the same cord and charger that came with it and has worked in past. The white light will come on but after say ten mins goes off and the tablet is warm on the back, it has not charged if I try to reset by holding the buttons down I only get a couple flashes of Amber light. And when I plug the charger in no lights come on. Then if I wait like an hour and plug charger back in the white light comes on and again only stays on 10 mins or so and warms up the back. The warranty period is over as of 4-2, any thoughts, bad battery due to letting sit and battery going dead for so long? Tried three different cords but only have the one dell charger.

Dell supplied the wrong charging cable. The port is rectangular and the plug is trapezoidal so it can be plugged in either way, and if you plug it in wrong, you can bend or break the pin block. I handed mine to my wife to see which way she'd try to connect the cable and she immediately tried plugging it in upside down. This is a serious design flaw and Dell needs to recall them all and replace the connector. There's no way in this day and age of computing that it should be possible to plug in a connector upside down like this and then destroy the device. It's only a matter of time before every one of these Dell Venue Pro 8 units is damaged because of this issue. Dell screwed up the design and customers are paying for the mistake. This is 100% Dell's fault. They need to make it right.
