Preload entire file in Flash8

I have a project that is divided into two sections each with
its own movie, all in scene 1. One movie plays at the very
beginning of the project, when it finishes buttons appear for the
user tonaviagate through a series of text and pictures. When they
are ready, the user can advance to the second section via button
click to another movie that also has a series of buttons with
pictures and text that ppear after it finishes playing. Now i
understand how preloaders work, but how would i preload this
project? Would i want to just preload each movie or the entire
file? I would think it would be easier to preload the entire file
since i want the movies to play seamlessly as they are the
transitions between the two sections. Would the scripting be the
same as a regular preloader? Either way i'm confused on how to set
this up. If someone would be kind enough to help me i would greatly
appreciate it. I'm not an expert on flash yet, still learning.
Thanks!

Ok, maybe i missed something. So i created a new swf. I have
a "loading" movie clip on a layer that just repeats loading,
couldn't get the loading bar to work. Then on a new layer i added
your script to frame 1. I think i understand the scripting, but is
there necessary scripting to tell it to move on? When i tested the
preloader swf, it just stays on loading. If i click forward in the
testing timeline the other swf does play, but i have to advance it
manually. So it does work ,but not on its own. I just want to
preload the other swf and have it open on its own. What frames
should the AS appear on and are any stops required? I'm sorry for
the trouble. Your help is greatly appreciated.

                   if (file != null) {

    You don’t need the absolutePath:
    File file = fileChooser.showOpenDialog(Admin.mainStage);
                   if (file != null) {
                        textFiles.setText(file.getName());
                               }

  • Updating large pdf file on multi devices but do I have to download the entire file every time?

So I have a pdf file that is 500mb (already on acrobat.com cloud) and I want to read this across tablet, desktop, and phone. I will be updating this file bit by bit on every one of those devices. Does this mean that every time I want to see the updated version I have to wait for a download of 500mb? Because that is just ridiculous!

    Hi salmanf76008405
Yes, You would need to download the entire file, in order to see the updated version.

  • Need help changing the setting to preview entire file names

Using Leopard, I would like to to be able to read the entire name of a file.
For example, my files might say (File 2.....609). What the file is named is File 2 Graphs 6209. How can I set up Leopard to allow me to read the entire file, so I don't have to guess the file?

Ah! I tend to avoid using column view for folders containing items with long names, because it increases the amount of horizontal scrolling needed to see everything, & because I'm usually interested in seeing & sorting items by the non-name columns available in list view.
FWIW, I tried the column view drag handle double click tip on one of the folders containing some of my extra long named items & it does expand to show the entire name, but I don't care for the result: the Finder window expands horizontally so much that it won't all fit within even a 24" widescreen display! So not only do I have to scroll the window's content horizontally to see everything, I have to move the window partially offscreen to do so. That is too much of a chore to make this a very good alternative for long path names.
It occurs to me that there might be a more elegant, subtle, & "it just works" Apple-like solution possible: instead of just abbreviating the displayed item name by replacing enough of the middle characters of the name with an ellipsis to make it fit, it would be cool if this were adaptive & tried first to abbreviate the non-unique parts of the name, relative to all the items in the column. So if say 3 files in a view contained the same 12 character sequence, that sequence would appear with the same abbreviation in each file, more frequently preserving the display of the unique parts of each file name.
    Does this make sense?

Please read this article about restoring bookmarks:

As far as your passwords are concerned, I don't think there's anything you can do. But for the future, you can use the following add-ons to avoid any future loss:

    or

    Both are good.

If I bring in photos from Iphoto, am I using more disk space on my hard drive. I dont want to duplicate my entire file. I have 26000 photos in I photo.

You have to duplicate the photos unless you want to use PSE as the external editor for iphoto. In iphoto, your photos are stored in a proprietary library, which should never be messed with by programs other than iphoto. Writing to the iphoto library from outside iphoto is the fastest way to corrupt it and lose all the pics it contains.
So you can either set PSE as your external editor and send the photos from within iphoto, or you must export the photos from iphoto to be able to use them outside that program.

How can i store entire files for example image files in a oracle 7 databese. Does is support LOB??Hi there,
to be short: yes you can.
I actually did it myself, but there a several problems to tacle first:
    - Use LONG RAW as datatyp
    - you can have only one column in a table with LONG RAW
    - consider the overall amount of space used in the database
    - adjust the size of the rollbacksegments.
    Have fun

  • Preloading several files, showing one "% loaded" value

    Hello everyone.
For this website I'm developing I need to preload several
files (images, xml, css and the main .swf). I have a preloader and
I want it to show the total % loaded of the sum of all those files.
From what I've learned so far, I need a ProgressEvent instance and
its _bytesTotal and _bytesLoaded properties. I've managed to
calculate the sum of all the file sizes (see code, perhaps there
are simpler ways), but I'm puzzled as how to obtain a sum of all
the files' _bytesLoaded. I thought of using a similar counter to
the one I created for the sum of the _bytesTotal (_nTotalBytes),
but I'm not sure how to reset it when I need to provide a new sum
and even if the way the files are loaded (is there a coherent order
I can depend on?) allows me to use this sort of approach.
Any thoughts on this are appreciated, thanks!

I think you may need to poll a server-side script to get the
    sum...

  • Color on the entire file name.

In previous versions of the OS, I was able to highlight and color the entire file name. Mavericks' small dot of color on flags gets lost. Is there a way to color the entire file name?

There have been a ton of complaints on this issue and to date there isn't a fix for it. All of us would like to have the colored folders back. We all hope they will bring back the colored folders.
    Cheers

You cannot share a folder yet, just files. Folder sharing is a feature we are working on. You can read more in this blog post http://blogs.adobe.com/creativecloud/coming-soon-to-creative-cloud/.

  • Printer said he had to re-create entire file

    Hi,
Made a file for a friend in illustrator. Saved as EPS, two color. First time they sent the file to the printer they said they needed the font's outlined. Did that and re-sent it. Next time around they said they had to re-create the entire file, stating it's not "vector".
This was a first for me so I'm wondering what is going on, does the printer being difficult, because he's charging more now saying he had to re-create all the art, when in fact this was made in illustrator, all vector, 300dpi, font's embedded.
I'll upload the file too if that helps. Somewhat discouraged at this point cause the printer is not being friendly and making things very difficult.

"when in fact this was made in illustrator, all vector, 300dpi, font's embedded."
What type of file is it?  A business card?  Letterhead?  tShirt?  300dpi?  Number one, if you're sending out an EPS file with live fonts, then you have to send the fonts, too.  300dpi is a very low output resolution.  Your file's output res should be a minimum of 2540dpi.  If you're referring to raster res; then it's 300ppi.
Yes, the printer is giving you a hard time and you're getting ripped off to boot.  Sounds like an online vendor.  Dump them and go with someone local.  The crap cost you just wasted is increasing the entire cost of the job.  Had you gone to someone local, you probably would have paid a little more, but then you wouldn't be hassled, either.  Look into how to produce print-ready PDF's.

  • There is not enough free memory to load the entire file

I saw an older reference to this error in a previous post which apparently got resolved, but didn't explain precisely how it got resolved:
Michael Kitzmiller, "There is not enough free memory to load the entire file" #, 27 Jul 2007 5:23 am
I presume that one answer is to rebuild the document from scratch, changing imported images to referenced images. But I want to recover the file as I put hours of work into it and expected that anything I can save that I also should be able to read back in. I will certainly change to referenced images, but I have to be able to open it first.
    thank you

    Web...
Here is a smattering of ideas.
Do you have ample unused HDD space? If not, defrag it, although in myu experience, this hardly makes a difference. Check your TEMP/TMP folders and clean them out. Consider downloading cCleaner and running it. Do everything you can to make ample room on your HDD and in places like your TEMP folders. If your HDD is congested, temporarily remove big but relatively unimportant applications and move data elsewhere for a while.
Even with 4GB of RAM, Frame can only use somewhere between 2.7 - 3.2 GB of it under the very best of conditions, and that includes the application as well as the files. Unpacking image files can consume considerably more space than it takes to store them. For example, a 1024 x 768 color image requires more than 3.1MB to describe it as a 32-bit color image, yet when stored in JPEG format, it can be as small as 50kB, a compression of 65:1. Of course, it's not reasonable to assume that your document is comprised entirely of such highly-compressed images, but in the unachievable extreme, it would take 980MB to simultaneously open 15MB worth of those kind of files. The point here is to not fall into the trap of thinking a 15MB file comprising a lot of images needs little more than 15MB of RAM.
Make sure ALL other applications are closed when trying to open your file...Outlook, IE or FireFox, Anti-Virus and Spyware apps, Word, etc.
Consider sending a copy of the file to someone else to see if they can open it for you and delete some of the images before resaving it. If you have a backup copy, rename your current file and restore the backup. Maybe your working copy is corrupt. Who knows? Anything is probably worth trying as long as you have a save copy stored somewhere.

  • How do i set it to fit to screen to print the entire file?

How do i set it to fit to screen to print the entire file?  I have a file that is smaller than 8.5x11 but it says it's larger and clipping will occur and when I print it, it does not fit the paper.  Ive even clicked the box that says Scale to Fit Paper Size and it's still giving me that message and cutting info off.
I also need to be able to size it by percentage so I can adjust it to fit into a pre made form Im working with.

First, I am new to this forum and I was told by Adobe that I would get help from Adobe as well as other users here, so that's why I posted.  But nobody asked me for basic info about image dimensions and printing sizes.  I never claimed to be an expert, just a basic user of PS, which is why Im asking for help.  I've used this program for my basic needs which is probably 1/1000th of what PS is capable of, but it's what I've used and I've always had success doing what I needed to do with it. If you can help, I very much appreciate it but if you just want to slam me and say you don't believe what I say, then that's not really helpful. Since nobody else responded to this post with any offers for help, the info you seek is below.  If you have any thoughts on how to help, I greatly appreciate it.
Im not sure how the image dimensions apply to my question at all but here they are: 3300x2550 with a 300 dpi resolution.
Im simply trying to get the program to allow me to fit the image to the paper Im printing and adjust it as necessary to make it fit a partially pre-printed form I need for work and in every PS version I've used that I can recall, it allowed that.  It certainly allowed it, using the same printers Im using now, in CS5.
Also, you mentioned that the printer driver handles this but I can do this in every other program I have on this computer with the same printers, from Numbers (it's a Mac) to Preview to Mac Mail so why wouldn't it do the same thing in PS? That's what Im trying to find out here and with most software, I can pick up a phone or get on a one-on-one chat and get help, but apparently not with PS and since it's not a cheap program, I expected more.  I never needed to call for help before using this new version, so that's something I need to consider.
Again, if you are able to help, I appreciate it. Thanks!

The FILE Menu was <u>'''''not'''''</u> greyed out in SAFE MODE.
I only had one THEME, the DEFAULT one, which I was using.
I disabled a few ADD-ONS and that solved the problem. They should check them first. I don't have time right now, or I'd do it myself. Later, maybe.
Thanks very much for your help. The only thing better than the FF browser is the community. I've been using only Mozilla since Netscape days.
