Preserving Marker master comment in batch export

Hello,
I'm doing a quasi-transcription of clips using markers and the comments. I'd like to make subclips of all the markers (with Master Comments) to eventually export to Excel and have a nice rough transcription of interviews etc. However, when I make the subclips from the markers, the Master Comment 1 (which has good, supplementary info and/or dialog) is gone and I lose that info. Is there a way to preserve that master comment when making a sublclip from a marker?
Thanks!

Hi guys,
I have solved the problem! Although I now realise that I have totally missed how this all works.. Doh.
Basically I was expecting to see the batch export option icon in the 'Marker List' when in 'Multitrack' mode. I now realise that it is only available in 'Edit' mode.
Sorry for wasting your time although this might help out others who make the same mistake as me. I assumed I would be able to do this from Multitrack mode as I find it easy to edit a large VO take in multitrack and then apply effects to the whole track easily. It would be nice to be able to batch export from this view based on the current track settings, but it's not too bad.
Also, for anyone who is wondering you can take a multitrack session down into edit mode with ALL markers in place by going to File->Export->Audio Mixdown. From here it's then a simple case to export all markers out based on your preferences.
So pleased to have solved this one.
Thanks for all responses.
James.

  • Marker List: Batch Export Marker Regions MISSING

    Hi guys,
I am running Audition 3.0.1 on Windows 7 x64 and just went to use the 'Batch Export Marker Regions' function in the 'Markers' panel to save any my marked regions to seperate files.
However, the icon for this seems to be missing completely.
Any ideas what is wrong and how I might get the icon back?
Here's a grab of the panel. As you can see, the icon that should be bottom right just isn't there!
    Many thanks in advance,
    James.

  • No Method of Batch Export for Clips with Alpha Channels?

    Good morning,
As many a flustered editor has eventually discovered, in order for FCP to export sequences with alpha channels to a 32-bit format, the timeline has to be un-rendered at the time of export, or else the transparent parts will appear black in the outputted file. This sort-of makes sense if you know how FCP and render files work, but in a perfect world I think I'd have designed the export interface a bit differently. Now that I think about it, I'm actually working in an Animation (Millions of Colors +) sequence, so converting transparent areas to black makes no logical sense at all.
Anyway, I have several sequences that I would like to export as 32-bit TGA QuickTime files, preserving their transparency. If I Export Using Compressor, the process results in pre-rendering of the sequence, turning the transparent areas black. The same problem occurs if I export QuickTime reference movies from FCP and open them directly with Compressor.
Does anyone know of a way to avoid this silly phenomenon or am I stuck individually exporting each sequence from FCP, one...at.......a................time?
    Thanks,
    Zap

Thanks, Andy, "Batch Export" eventually did the trick!
I forgot about that tool because I've never actually had to use it before! After playing around with it for a while, I found that as long as the sequence settings for each sequence in the batch are set to a codec with an activated alpha channel, it works just fine.
    Thanks again,

  • Batch Exporting File Naming Issue

I have to batch export about 30 images at a time, but I am having an issue now that the "Export" piece of the action includes a specific file name in the "save in" property, where as it's supposed to only include the name of the containing folder. This causes all the images included in the batch to be saved with the same file name thus saving over the previous export each time. I cannot figure out how to execute the Save for Web and devices action without it recording the specific file name.
    My process is:
    - Open one image
    - Create a new Action (it begins recording)
    - Crop the image
    - Save for Web and devices (I leave the file name as is, but save it to a different folder) Ex. "annoying_child_screaming.jpeg"
    - Close without saving
    - Stop the action
    - File > Automate > Batch
    - I select the source folder with all the original photos
    - Specify a Destination folder (a different folder where all the cropped ones will be)
    - I don't select any checkboxes
    - File Naming: I leave the default "Document Name" + "extension" Starting serial#: 1
When I hit okay, I can see Photoshop going through each image and doing the specified actions, but instead of preserving the original file name, it saves each one with the file name that I saved the first one when originally creating the action (Ex. it rewrites "annoying_child_screaming.jpeg" for each file)
I just upgraded to CS5 from CS4 (where I hadn't been having this problem). I have compared my settings to a coworker's who's computer it does work on, but we can't figure out what's wrong. The difference is in the Export details in the Actions dialog box - where it has the "IN" property, usually only a folder location is specified, but on my comp, it also specifies the file name.
    Please help.

When you record the save for web step use the original file name
(you noted you did that in post 1)
Is the name you used the same as the file
you opened when recording the save for web step?
Don't specify any destination in the batch dialog or the files will possibly
be overwritten and you'll see the results your seeing.
The destination is the folder you specified during the save for web step while recording the action.

  • Commenting in pdf exported from IDCS4

Seems like I remember something about now IDCS4 allows exported pdfs to be commented and then have the edits imported back into InDesign OR did I dream that?
We have two people who will be marking up the pdf document exported from IDCS4. Then most of the edits will go back to the authors who have Acrobat 8.0 or Reader.  Some of the edits will come back to the InDesign person to make the changes.  He will get those changes in Word and pdf commenting.
Is there an efficient method to make these changes?

I don't think there is any integration like that with PDFs, the markups would have to be done by hand.
    You would have to -
    Use Incopy
Export the Text as RTF and let them go at it in Word
    Use 3rd party software http://www.rorohiko.com/wordpress/indesign-downloads/storytweaker/
    Or something else

  • Master comments not coming through into Subclips....

    Good day to you all,
Still fairly new to FCP but can't for the life of me work out what I'm doing wrong here:
Basically, I'm taking entire tapes into the viewer and marking them - using the extend mark (option <) to mark the length of each clip - while giving them a name. I'm also, in most cases, adding a log note on the marking box, which appears in the 'Master Comment 1' section of the browser for each marker within the tape. After I have gone through an entire tape (I have about 24 hours of material to work through, so I need to sort this out quickly!) I select all the markers in the browser and hit Cmd. U to make them into subclips.
So from this point, I have two questions:
Firstly, is there any way of overriding the annoying way FCP names the subclips? For example, I name a subclip "Concrete Sculpture 1 - pan right", and it comes out as "Concrete Sculpture 1 - pan right from 'A1 Tape 04 Copy' Subclip". So I end up with about a hundred clips that I have to manually just go down and delete this extraneous nonsense which just serves to clutter up the legibility of the clip. I know this information, the image tells me its a subclip and I can see what tape it was from further along in the browser. There must be a way to override this annoying naming thing?
Second, none of the stuff in the 'Master Comment 1' column comes through into the subclips! So I'm left with a load of clips which don't, in many cases, have the most important bit of description for identifying them, and which I have painstakingly entered! What's going on here?!?!?!
Just when I thought I was starting to understand FCP, these two little niggles pop up.
Any ideas and suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance,
    Warm regards,
    Steve

Mac Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

I don't mind subclips, and like many people I am forced by other factors to use them. So I do better if I pretend to actually like 'em.
Jim, I don't understand what's different about logging with subclips and logging off tape. It's not like us subclippers don't log just as much as anyone else. Subclipping is a sub-maneuver of a particular subset of logging systems.
But the naming thing is really ridiculous. We should be able to go through a clip, click one button, and have it chopped into two files right there with a user-definable numerical naming scheme. And so on at the next cut point. Geezer talk: "my old NLE could do that, and that was 10 years ago...". It's true, and that was a DraCo.
Steve, I do it differently based on circumstances. Sometimes I mark and then subclip, but that's when the naming can get really really tedious.
Here's what I'm most comfortable with:
    - load the SuperClip in the viewer
    - name it something short and relevant
    - Control-C copy that base name
    - I and O to set in and out for first shot. I set for maximum possible use of either video or audio.
    - Command-U makes a subclip and selects the subclip's new name for replacement
    - right arrow to move to end of base name
    - type whatever you need to differentiate that subclip.
There are many variations, but when I get in the groove this is very fast. And it completely bypasses the Ridiculous Name Syndrome, 'cause you change it as soon as it pops up.
I am one of those people who puts all the search terms or codes in clip names. For long form doc work. This makes a good flow for me, most of the time.
I know there are better ways lurking out there, so I'm watching this space.

  • Batch export of markers

I'm brand-new to Premiere, to this forum, and to video editing generally. I'm hoping someone can help with this problem. I've created several markers for my video (an avi file). I need to export each frame associated with a marker as an image file. I don't want to do this one-by-one because there are a lot of markers and it is very tedious. Is there some way to batch export such frames within the application?
Alternatively, I can extract the <Marker> XML elements from the prproj file and get the images using a Matlab script, if I can figure out what the time is for each marker. The elements look like this:
                <Marker Version="1" Index="0">
                    <First>100072202630400</First>
                    <Second ObjectRef="33"/>
                </Marker>
Does anyone know how to convert the <First> value to a time in seconds?
I should mention that I've tried the PPro Project Utility, but get unreliable results.
    Any help will be appreciated.

For CS4 and later, you can set up each export and then do them all at once through the Adobe Media Encoder.  For earlier versions, you'll have to do each export one at a time.
In either case, the setup for each frame is done manually.  There's no auto feature for this.

  • Batch Export Trick for Logic using Markers and XLD

I've always wanted apple to implement batch export of multiple audio files from logic using markers as delimiters. So you can mix a concert and export it in one go without having to hang around and re-start bouncing for each track.
Now you can do this (albeit in a two step process) using Logic 9.1 and the free and wonderful XLD!
Just place markers in your project and bounce as AIFF (this is the only format that seems to work with this, so you are out of luck if your bounce file is going to be larger than 2GB). I suggest placing a marker at the very beginning of the project too so you first file is not called "Timestamp_0" or some such thing. You can even name the markers with the name you want each file to have, though keep in mind files will sort alphabetically of course once they are split if you have a specific order - so maybe preface them with 01, 02, 03, etc etc.
OK - now go get XLD (the GUI version):
    http://tmkk.hp.infoseek.co.jp/xld/index_e.html
download, install and run it. No window will appear at first. Open the preferences and choose your desired output format and options, directory, etc
drop the AIFF file onto XLD (I've put XLD into my Finder window toolbar for easy access). When it asks you to open the embedded cue sheet, say "OK" and your markers should appear as a list of CD tracks that you can play double click to play with a player interface and preview.
Then press "Decode" and voila! All your markers as separate audio files with the marker name, in whatever format (including the multiple formats option) you set XLD for.
You can even edit metadata at this stage (but first consider whether your output format supports it)
Some of the formats XLD can produce are
    AIFF
    WAV
    Apple Lossless (saves some space!)
    FLAC
    AAC
    MP3
    OGG
    etc etc
Personally I think this is an absolutely fantastic trick and am happy to have discovered it. Hope it helps you too.

Also, if you have gaps in the original session, put a marker at the end of the previous section and call it something like "end". Then you can uncheck all the "end" 'tracks' in the cue sheet and they wont be exported in XLD.
Oh and it also seems XLD will preface your marker delimited files with their 'CD track' number. Useful to keep them in order, but they will probably want to be changed if you have gaps you took out with extra "end" markers.

  • Batch Exporting of Different File Extensions

Just a quick question for you Aperture Gurus. (Aperture 2)
When exporting a large number of files of differnt file extension types, do you do all of them at once, or separte them into their different file extensions then batch export them.
    An expample might be:
Eporting jpeg and raw files within a common album or file. I have been creating different albums, and batch exporting depending on the file extension. Has anyone tried batch exporting with different file types with success?
    Thanks
    Dan

I taling about the original files. Lets say I have at least 2 different master files, jpeg, and, Canon RAW in the same folder or album. Now lets say I want to batch or bulk export them all in one shot. Both jpeg, and RAW exported in one function. I set the export presets that I would like, and hit the export button with both the RAW and jpeg selected.
Do you see any concerns with doing this? I currently separate all my different files, jpeg, RAW, TIFF, etc, so I keep the exporting from messing up. I haven't actually tried mixing file types in an export function.
I'm just wondering if anyone has had any sucess with mixed file type exports?
    Thanks

  • Batch export audio in channels grouped

    Hi!
My english is not the best so I will try to explain myself as good as possible.
I need to get the 5.1 audio from 11 sequences in discrete channels.
I know how to do this from each and one sequence. Right Click->Export->Audio to AIFF (s)...
But this takes a long time.
Is it possible to make a batch export and get the same result.
If I mark my sequences and choose batch export, the press settings I can only get the AIFFS as mono or stereo, but I cant get it as discrete channels.
I want it to be as same when I choose one individually.
When I use the method each one this is the result:
    Sequence name_1
    Sequence name_2
    Sequence name_3
    Sequence name_4
    Sequence name_5
    Sequence name_6
I hope I have made my problem clear.
    Thank you for the help

  • How to batch export Chapters

I would like to be able to automatically take a QT movie with Chapters marked, and create individual QT movies of each Chapter. The manual method is quite tedious!

Choose File>Batch Export. It will put all the sequences you have exported into an Export Queue and you can then choose where to send each QT movie by highlighting the sequence and choosing Settings. If you have more than one sequence just control-click on, say, Sequence 2, and choose Batch Export. That will give you a new bin and you can send Bin 2 to a different location than Bin 1.
It sounds like this is what you've been doing, so I don't know why it's not working now. What version of FCP do you have? Have you read up on the process in the manual?

  • Batch export text from multiple Indesign files, applying em and strong tags

    Hi there,
I am struggling for a while now with the following workflow:
batch exporting all text (text only) as plain text, from multiple Indesign files, applying <em> and <strong> for all the bold and italics (for instance: Molluptas verion <strong>nossum</strong> idist <em>doluptatet</em> maiorerum quiaspienit, cum erferiosapis eos expe nonsequas verumquae dolor sim eos doluptatiur autet lab idicili beatum deliquat).
Properly tagging the styles, will be too time consuming, as these documents are as old as 1998, have inconsistent untagged styles; it will mean to manually open up each file, assign tags for all styles (not to mention that might be some local overwrites).
This task is necessary to have all the archive, available on wordpress website.
Any feedback would be much appreciated it.
    Thanks.

There may well be a script or you may have pay someone to write it. All I can tell you is that any text not mapped to a style will be a mess in the HTML code.
Can’t comment on Quark files. I have no clue what they’re capable of.

  • How do i change the size of a clip using batch export?

hi, when i try and do a batch export to change my clips from a DV PAL to PhotoJpeg 320*240 sized clips the "options" button is greyed out. so all i have as export settings are the QT presets in a pulldown list. is there any way i can create my own setting? (and the also save that?)
    thx

    what i'm seeing is that
    a) selecting all files in Media Man. gives me the option to size and set codecs but not the audio off.
    b) selecting all files in Batch Export allows me to pick a format (QT, aiff etc) choose a preset (photoJpeg included) select whether to include audio and video or both but not set the size or customize the QT settings
    c) selecting all clips then "file>export>using QT conversion" gives me all options, but seem to grab only the first clip.

  • Is there a way to select multiple sequences and batch export them using the same settings in CS6?

I am a current Final Cut Pro7 user and looking to switch over to Premiere Pro CS6.  We edit approx. 100 short (15 sec.) videos daily, and then select them all at the end of the day and batch export them over night using the same export recipe for all. I have having trouble finding an easy way to do this in Premiere pro CS6, as command +E is grayed out if i select more than one sequence at a time.
so far, it appears that i have to select each video individually and manually set encoding recipe and export location for each....  Not only would this be terribly time consuming, but it leaves a lot of room for error and missed videos.  I thought i would be able to send all of the sequences to Adobe Media Encoder,  but i dont see that option either.
    Any suggestions/
    thanks!

Open Media Encoder and add your Sequences:
File > Add Premiere Pro Sequence
Navigate to your Premiere Project and select it in the list.
You can then select multiple Sequences from the Project (Ctrl+Click)
and load them all at once into Media Encoder and apply
the same encoding preset to all Sequences at the same time.

  • I would like to know if I can have FCP maker names be the same as what appears in field, master comment 1. I am importing these makers from a 3rd party system

Hello, I am importing logs from from a 3rd party system. They come in as markers into FCP. The log comments come in under master comment 1. Is there a way to re-map this so master comment 1 appears where the maker type is shown.

That's like the 00-th post that asks for the same thing: digital connection of the Creative soundcard to a receiver.
Yes, you can connect the card via a jack situated on the back of the card - you just need a cable with stereo minijack and RCA. All the older Creative cards (since Li've!) have that SPDIF output on the back, on the form of a mini-jack. It is labeled as "digital".
The ONLY problem is that you will be able to send surround sound via SPDIF only if it is encoded DD or DTS on a DVD-ROM. The card itself will not encode surround sound CREATED in the PC. So, games, mp3's, CD's all will be stereo PCM. I guess that your old MoBo SPDIF was in the same situation (except for a SoundStorm integrated from nVidia that does DD 5. encoding on the fly). If you don't care about gaming performance, Turtle Beach make a card that does DolbyDigital encoding on-the-fly - they are calling this Dolby Digital Li've.
About mikes: one mike input is existing on the back of the card, and another one on the expansion bay (if you have platinum version). both of them will take only a el-cheapo (electret/condenser mike), not a proffesional one.
