"PREVIOUS" FUNCTION NOT FIXED YET

I find it strange that no-one complains about the "PREVIOUS" button feature, and how it altered after LR2 to carry with it the brushstrokes from the previous image. LR2 did not do this and it was far superior to what it is now, and what it remains to be in LR4B. The "PREVIOUS" command is meant to be a very quick and convenient method to apply the corrections from the file that was immediately worked on. Quick and convenient being the operative words. This is supposed to get the exposure, balance, sharpness, highlights, shadows, fill etc, and apply it to the next image. However, it also carries the brushstrokes, eg. individual area dodging and burning, individual area colour correction, etc as well. This would be fantastic if the composition and content placement of each image in a set is identical. In other words, if a person did not move, a landscape was shot without moving tha camera position such that all of those dodge and burn ares remained in exactly the same place. Also great as long as you never shoot both horizontal and vertical shots (landscape and portrait orientation) within the same basic shot set that received the same light and conditions. But that is not the case. When you apply the "PREVIOUS" command from one image to the next, it applies those brushstroke commands to the next image, and it is almost never in the correct position, requiring you to find the pins and delete these brushstrokes, which can be anything up to a dozen deletes per image. This has made the "PREVIOUS" command quite useless, and it went from my most valuable tool in LR2 to the most useless in LR3. I phoned Adobe and spoke to someone about it at the time, and I did receive a return call, but the person I spoke to didn't seem to think it was a problem, so perhaps it's just my working methods, but it was one major advantage over all of the other competitors, particularly Aperture. Anyway, I was hoping that this might have been corrected in LR4, but it is not. I think it is so blatantly obvious that it is a design fault that I have to think that no-one uses this "PREVIOUS' feature, ot they don't use it in conjunction with brushstrokes?? Or do I just use it differently to everyone else??

Yes, johnbeardy, Previous works fine for me too, other than the fact that it is not a time-saving, quick transfer of the previous image file's settings.
This is because it also brings with it the previous file's Local Adjustments ie. Brushstrokes and Graduated Filters.
As I stated above, this is fine, even desirable if all parts of the image's content / subject remain in exactly the same position for this subsequent shot,
but this is rarely if ever the case. If the subject or camera position has changed (which it almost always has) then the Brushstroke and/or Graduated Filter is applied
to the same position within the image frame, but the incorrect position for that photograph's particular subject matter.
This is where I believe the Previous Command is "faulty"
If one chooses to do this by using the "Sync" (Synchronize Settings) command, the dialog box that appears gives the user the opportunity to uncheck
the Local Adjustments to stop this from happening, and I find myself using this method quite often, and then proceed to apply Local Brush and/or Graduated
Filter Adjustments after using the sync command.
It would be far more convenient to just click the Previous button and then do those same adjustments after that.
johnbeardy, when you say that Previous works fine for you, can you tell me how you get around the Local Adjustments being in the wrong part of the image?
Or, do you not use Local Adjustments, as then this would not be a problem.
John.

  • Admission Audit Run (Action is not possible; function not released yet)

    Hi All,
I have created a Requirement Profile Template for admission audit and attached it with a program of study.
But when I am trying to run the admission audit using Transaction PIQAUD_MP_CS, its giving a message that...
Action is not possible; function not released yet....
Please tell me what does this message indicate, please let me know if u need more information regarding it.
    Thanks in Advance
    Sudhir Gupta

    Dear Michael,
Thanks for such a beautiful and elaborative answer. Please read my comments on the points you discussed :
Create an admissions record: at this time a requirement profile is automatically generated for the program of study, as long as your program has been defined as 'Use Assessments'.
Yes its generating a requirement profile automatically as soon as admission record is created.
In the student file, go to the admissions tab and look for the icon that represents 'Audit Details'. (It looks like the icon for 'syntax check' in ABAP). Click on that.
On Clicking 'Audit Details' icon it leads to another screen which contains all information like Admission application data but requirements section is blank.
Now you are taken to a screen where you can see the admissions audit profile for the student. Execute the audit there, and you will see the list of checkboxes and results.
The requirement screen is blank. No error message.
Though i maintained the Requirement Profiles and RPT as per Cookbooks.
I want to download the screen shots of Requirement Profiles and RPT. Please let me know how to upload screen shots in SDN.
    Warm Regards

  • ICal Alarm Editing Bug: Time off 4 hours, not fixed yet in 10.5.5?

    Hi again all Mac users,
I have noticed this bug for quite a long while, which I cannot remember from when, but I think it was from around 10.3 or 10.4. I am used to it, and can deal with this since I know it. But, it still seems to persist even after updating to 10.5.5, and I have finally wanted to raise the issue up to this forum, in order to get it fixed, or obtain knowledge on how to fix this in my Mac.
When you double-click or Command+I an event in iCal, the detail of the event shows up, and you click "Edit" button at the bottom to edit it. Most of my events' "Alarm" are set as "Alarm with Sound". To edit this, you click right next to "Alarm" to bring out the pull-down menu. You can change "Alarm with Sound" to "No Alarm", etc. Also, you will see a list of the latest settings you used at the bottom of this pull-down menu, with date, time and sound, etc. to choose from.
    *My Bug Phenotype:*
ALL of the listed settings in this pull-down menu are EXACTLY 4 hours (FOUR HOURS) later of what that actually sets and do. For instance, I set a new event at "2008/6/1 10:00, playing Susumi sound". This setting will newly show up in the for-mentioned pull-down menu. But, because of a bug or by an unknown reason, within the list it shows "2008/6/1 14:00, playing Susumi sound", showing the time 4 hours later. Continuously, if you edit another event's alarm setting, and choose the previous setting of erroneous "2008/6/1 14:00, playing Susumi sound" that shows up from the pull-down menu, the event you're editing will actually be set to "2008/6/1 10:00, playing Susumi sound", which is correct with the very original setting I first used, but then again it is 4 hours ahead of what you see in the pull-down list. Once set, all event will show the proper Alarm time set, and work at the correct timing. It seems that there's a bug just in this pull-down menu showing the previous settings, adding and showing 4 hours later to what it should be, but also correctly stores and set the original time.
Does everybody understand what I tried to explain?
Does anyone else have the same experience?
    Is this just me?
    Is it always 4 hours?
    Any way to fix this?
Is this an iCal Bug, to be fixed?
Thanks for your help in advance!

PS: Is there a way to directly (Online) way to tell (email, post, etc) this problem to Apple?
PPS: I have used many different disk maintenance tool of most kinds, both free and commercial, but nothing has helped.
PPPS?: This is my second post on this iCal issue this year, last time on May 30, 2008, but no one seems to care... Really? No one has the same symptoms? Weird...

    Dr.MORO,
    1. Try refreshing the iCal plist file. Navigate to your Macintosh HD/Users/yourusername/Library/Preferences Folder, and find the com.apple.iCal.plist file. Drag that file to your desktop, log out/in or restart.
    2. What time do you have set in your iCal Time Zone Window?
    3. Have you tried to change your settings in System Preferences...>International>Formats>(Region:) (Dates) (Times)? Customize... Quit iCal before changing these settings, and repeat #1 above before opening iCal.
    4. Do you have a default time checked in iCal>Preferences...>General>Add a default alarm to all new events and invitations?
    5. Do you have "Turn on time zone support" checked in iCal>Preferences>Advanced?
    6. Do you have the proper "Time Zone" selected in System Preferences...>Date & Time?
    7. Are you syncing any of your computers?

Only through AppleCare, but your equipment is probably no longer covered. As far as I know you could still use AppleCare but it would cost an arm and a leg for phone support since you no longer have a contract. Do you have an Apple Store or Authorized Apple Provider nearby?

Since Apple Discussions participation relies entirely upon other users for possible solutions, it is my guess that no one had the same problem or could offer a reasonable solution. Sorry to hear that you did not get a response to your previous post, but I care.

  • Flash Player bug still not fixed yet ?

I had to do a system restore to get back to a working version
of adobe flash player - i put up with no flash for a week, but my
sister thinks I've downloaded a bug onto her machine because there
is obviously something up with this latest version of flash.
it says it's successfully installed, shows the little moving
picture etc. then you go on to myspace or jibjab or anything cool
with flash in it and it doesn't work.
Like I said I've had to use a system restore for the first
time in years as I guessed it was a flash bug pretty quick as I
    monitor my updates.
Anyone know if adobe are ackwoledging & fixing this bug ?
    - it would be handy to know when it is safe to install the latest
    flash player that works.
I'm not a techie so have no intention of poking inside my
machine or it's settings - just wierd how adobe haven't told
website that use the product that services may be affected - so
they can warn customers not to download the latest player until
    adobe have fixed the problem!

The same thing happened to me. I've tried so many things -
    but nothing works.
Just like you, I download flash, it installs successfully -
it seems - then I go to other sites and it doesn't work anymore.
Now I have to install flash everytime before I open up my browser,
then it works for a website or two - then it fails again.
Is this happening to anyone else?
I have a brand new Mac intel 15 inch laptop - newest
    operating software.
I have all my updates, etc,... updated & this is
    ridiculous.

  • Sounds not fixed yet!!

Ever since installing Leopard last November I get my mail sounds intermittently and it's always been that way since. Has anyone ever come up with a solution??? It's frustrating. TIA
    Connie

Yes, thank you. I've done everything. It's only been this way since the OS Leopard. Sometimes it'll alert me and most times it won't. I'm familiar with the preferences enough to know that it's still not right. I've installed all updates thinking that it would be addressed on one of them. But it is just so frustrating to have it still not working.

Since I migrated my files from one Mac to another and am now running Yosemite, Photoshop Elements 9 (adequate for what I do) is not showing the previous functionality on some of the tools. I have uninstalled/reinstalled twice to no avail.  Is there a fix? Also, when I tried to update, it comes up with this error.

I have a similar problem. I found out that my macbook air created a new USER with my former's computer user name. You can check that by going into System Preferences -> User & Groups, and see if a "Other user" has been created. You have to login under this new USER to find your transferred contacts in the address book.
My problem is that I do not know how to merge the 2 USER logins or transfer the data from the new USER created into the existing one.

Get onto the integrated iOS + Mac OS and end support for "legacy" Mac 10.8 and earlier.
Force older hardware users like me to upgrade to new hardware which is where $$ are.
Make apps work across tablets, phone, and computer with similar (though not the "same" app, but able to read and use the same file format).
    Simplify.
I don't think anyone incl. Microsoft knew Windows 8.1 was going to be a free upgrade, I didn't and read that it would be more like $30.
No OS is ready for everyone on the day it is launched. iOS 7 is now 7.04 and climbing, Mac OS tends to really not be ready until the last patch and version is out, often a year or more after it was first issued. Ship it, then plan to fix the bugs left in or that surface.
www.macperformanceguide.com is saying "No" to Maverick for now. Of course there will be no "No" on new Mac Pro 2013 6,1 when those ship (Late Jan? )

  • Function Previous() does not retrieve good values

    Hello Forum,
I'm using BO XIR2, Desktop Intelligence.
I'm displaying some quantities and turnover by month and I try to compute the % of increase/decrease between a month and the previous month. The report looks like that :
    .........................Jan......%.......Feb........%.......March........%.......Apr
    Quantity...............10..................15........50.............16........-6
    Turnover............. 3.5....................4........14............3.9.....-2.5
I use fonction Previous to compute the % of discrepancy. For example, for quantity : % = (qty-Previous(qty))/Previsous(qty)
My problem : for some months, the Previous(function) does not retrieve the value of the previous month. It usually adds 1 or 2 to the value of the previous month.
Does anyone face the same problem ?
    Best Regards

    Hi,
try sorting your data in the SQL query based using the month number (ascending).
