  • URGENT -- Printing reports adds extra spaces in between pages

    Hello Experts,
I would like to ask for your help regarding printing from concurrent requests.
I am currently having an issue with printing multiple pages from Oracle reports, both in text format and RTF/PDF formats.
When I generate a multiple page report and print it directly from a concurrent request, print outs generate extra space after each page even though page size is indicated in the reports (all of them are in letter size).
I have already tried editing the printer drivers both the actual driver config file and through the application but the results are still the same.
This is very important since printing is done on continuous paper and continuous pre-printed forms
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

  • Crystal for VS 2010 - formatting issues in viewer (extra space) again

We're having the same problem as the one in this thread link:[Crystal 2008 for VS 2010 - Report formatting issues in viewer (extra space);. There's no resolution in the thread and it's been closed. I'm hoping that creating a new thread may cause someone to answer this problem.
We have a Windows App that we just converted to .NET 4.0 and updated the viewer to the Crystal Reports Viewer in VS 2010. When we open a report that has a large block of static text in paragraphs left-aligned the spacing around punctuation is awful - there's almost a tab's worth of space between the last letter and the period. U.S. looks like US. This happens both with reports that were created in VS2008 and ones that were created in VS2010. It is only a problem in the viewer's display - if we print to a printer or export to PDF the spacing around punctuation is fine. It's also not a problem on our development workstations which are running Windows 7, but is a problem on our test servers which are running Windows 2003 Server. I ran the modules tool and found that the version of usp10.dll does match what the previous thread said it should be and it's coming from the c:\program files\sap businessobjects\crystal reports for .net framework 4.0\common\sap businessobjects enterprise xi 4.0\win32_x86\ folder. On my development machine when I run the modules tool I notice that a second instance of usp10.dll is called which is the version installed with Windows 7. We've tried changing fonts but none of the ones we've tried (originally in Times New Roman, 12, tried Arial, Times and various sizes) have made a difference. We also tried changing the print options with no improvement. The only thing that makes it slightly better is full-alignment but our customer insists that it be left-aligned.

Re. the other thread. I never did receive a sample of the report to test with. Perhaps I can get one from you? I need you to ensure that the issue occurs with a "saved data" report. If it does, let me know if you can share it and I'll contact you via email. My comment in the other thread re. available time, priorities, etc., still applies. Also, just to be clear. Service Pack 2 for CRVS2010 is closed now. Thus if I am able to reproduce the issue the fix will be targeted for October \ November time frame - no guarantees though...

  • XML Publisher showing extra spaces

We are building a huge report using XML publisher , After building a custom report using (XML Publisher & Microsoft Document2007) , the requirement was to Show/Hide some Layouts like Table of data and Total Column depending on flag values,
The solution for the above requirement was to use C (Conditional Region), which caused the following unwanted output:
    - Some Empty Pages (When using C before a layout table, and EC after the layout table)
    - Some vertical spaces between rows (when using C before Row and EC after the row)
So in case the table has no data the page is still displayed which is causing to print additional empty pages.

Try using <?if@inlines: condition?> instead of just using an <?if:?> condition and give it a try. Also ensure that there are no extra spaces in the RTF.

  • Extra spaces added (that I can't get rid of) when using STHeiti font.  Anything I can do?

    Hi there,
When I use the font that I want to use (STHeiti), extra spaces get added automatically—spaces that, by the way, I can’t ‘delete’—after every apostrophe (or single quotation mark).  See screen grabs below:
    Here's another example:
Do you know how I can make these spaces go away?  When I do a search on the internet (InDesign STHeiti), I see that others have had other types of problems with this font… having to do with exporting a finished project to pdf and getting it printed.
In the context of talking about it, one person says that the STHeiti font "is installed as part of the Apple operating system, and is probably only meant for onscreen display".
But someone else adds:  "the font is installed, by default, on all macs running 10.4 and above (possibly further back than that, but lets go with what we know), so opening the file at the printers on such a mac will have the font available”
I'm on my Mac, though (not yet ready for the printer), so why do I have a problem using this font?
I know I could use another font, but this STHeiti is a really nice one!
    Thanks for any advice,
    Malcolm

    Wow... that works beautifully.
I've done it, but before proceeding too much further I'll google and try to find out more about this "Use Typographer's Quotes" setting.  Don't want it to bite me down the road.
Thanks very much for the tip—

  • The extra space created due to Conditional Build Tags

    Hello,
I am authoring a online help file, for a web application. As different content is needed for the 4 different roles of the user, I have used Single Sourcing option and made use of conditional build tags for the content that is not common among the different roles. I even have images which are difffernt for the differnt roles. I have used conditional build tags for these too. The problem is that, extra space appears in place of the images which are not applicable to build I am publishing. Is there any workaround other than modifying the HTML files to remove the extra space added?
    Regards,
    Deepti Korwar

    hi Deepti,
I have seen this issue on multi-level lists (in RH9) when using soft returns (Shift-Enter) within the lists.
An extra space is added before images marked with CBTs. But this only caused problems in print.
Are you seeing this space on all outputs or just print?
Can you paste a code snippet from one of the offending list?
Perhaps you can get round this by opening up the HTML tab and carefully examining and perhaps moving the CBTs.
    e.g. <?rh-cbt_start condition="xyz" ?><img src="xyz"  > <?rh-cbt_end ?></p><?rh-list_end ?>
Will be helpful to see the code.
    thanks

  • PLD - Company Details on PO's, Sales Orders, etc. printing blank space

    Hello,
I am onsite at a client and I am designing the print layout of all their marketing documents.
In the company details section, their is a field called "Block"... This is left blank because I have nothing to put there. Because this field is blank, it is printing on the forms as blank and causing an extra space between lines. Does anyone have a work around for this?
    ie:
    Your Company
    111 Hill Rd.
                                            (Blank Line)
    Tampa, FL 32801
    Help! thank you!!
Edited by: John Sefton on Jun 25, 2008 10:48 PM

    Hi John,
    Try this:
    1. In PLD, Click on the field you donu2019t want it to show up
    2. In u2018Field Propertyu2019->Tab General->set Width to u20180u2019 and uncheck u2018Visibleu2019
    3. Then you can use the blank space left for something else.
Kind reminder: Itu2019s always recommended not to delete but hide a field if itu2019s not wanted. See note 862988.
    Hope it helps.

  • How to remove extra spaces from Data Matrix Label?

    Hi All,
Kindly let me know how we can remove extra spaces from Data Matrix Label.
Suppose we have this following code in SO10.
    ^FO1380,1879^COY,78^BY4^BXR,6,200^FH^FD[)>_1E06_1DF01001T_1D6JUN&v_huf&&v_hul&_1DV&v_supnum1&_1D16K&v_del&_1D6D&v_flddat1&095_1D2L&v_unload&_1D
    P&v_article&_1D4L&v_madein&_1D_1E_04^FS.
Variable have there own value. and the desired result will be shown like the attachment.
But in my code it splits into new line when CMIR value has 3 spaces.
If CMIR value is 1S0 820 355 A . then it creats a new line.
Kindly suggest me any possible solution.
    Thanks,
    Partha

    Hi Gaurav,
In print preview we can't see any space or new line. But when it scanned by TSB (barcode scanner) it will generate a new line when there is 3 space CMIR value.
So where should I write SHIFT CMIR LEFT DELETING LEADING space this code?
Because there is no space coming at the time of debugging or print preview.
And in SO10 the code written as
    ^FO1380,1879^BY4^BXR,6,200^FH^FD[)>
    Here CMIR value is 1SO 820 303 A
and generated output is like this.
And desired output should be like this.

  • Word 2010 - Extra Space Around Checkbox Content Controls - only on some computers

I am experiencing a problem with Word 2010 adding extra above/below spacing on content control checkboxes, but only on some of our computers. We have a template we use that is the same file for our network. On some of the computers in our office however,
we get extra spacing what can not be removed.
I am at a lose to fix this and have been trying for about 3 weeks. The settings are the same on all the computers. The user can switch to another computer and the form will open correctly, but if they move back to their workstation and try to reopen it there
the double spacing returns - again only for the checkbox content controls.
Attached are two images - Correct formatting, and then what happens on some of the computers. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Some issues worth noting:
    1. Word uses information returned by the active printer driver to manage a document's layout. This can result in line spacing, text-wrapping, and so on varying from one PC to the next - or even on the same PC when switching to a printer that uses a different
    driver.
    2. Differences in font versions (or the use of a font that is available on one PC and not another) can result in line spacing, text-wrapping, and so on varying from one PC to the next.
    3. Differences in Word version (or even update state) may result in line spacing, text-wrapping, and so on varying from one PC to the next.
    4. Your document that displays the extra spacing has Word's formatting display switched on - even that can change the appearance if the document contains hidden content.
    5. Various Word options can also affect line spacing, text-wrapping, and so on. These include having Word configured to 'optimize character positioning for layout rather than readability', 'scale content for A4 or 8.5x11" paper sizes' and, perhaps,
the use of draft print quality.
Obviously, there are multiple possibilities to work through, ensuring all PCs & printer configurations are the same. That said, your use of tables allows you the option of setting the row heights to 'exact' measurements, so they won't expand as they
evidently now can. You can also try setting the paragraph line spacings and before/after spacings to precise numbers of points, for example, so they don't auto-adjust.

  • Crystal 2008 for VS 2010 - Report formatting issues in viewer (extra space)

    Hello,
We have a Windows Form application developed in VS 2010 using the Crystal 2008 for VS 2010 runtime. We are having issue with extra spaces in text objects. For example: in a report header we have an object that has text similar to this:
This report will print a list of all Serial Numbers in the Serial Table that are missing related Serial Meter records.
When we run it within Crystal 2008 Designer, it looks great; however, when we run it from the Windows Viewer we developed, it looks like this:
This report will print a list of all Serial Numbers in the Serial Table that are missing related Serial Meter records    .
The viewer places extra spaces between records and the period (.).  We also noticed it places spaces in phone numbers:
    952 -555-555
There's an extra space between the 2 and the dash (-).
One thing we noticed is, if you change the viewer zoom to 98%, then the extra spacing goes away.
We just upgraded to SP1 for Crystal 2008 for VS 2010 and still the same issue. We are referencing these DLLS: CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.dll, CrystalDecisions.ReportSource, CrystalDecisions.Shared, and CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms all version are 13.0.2000.0.
    Any help would be great.
    Thank you,
    Tyler

    Hi Tyler,
I copied the text from your other post into a new report and changed the fonts and previewed in my C# test app and I don't see the problem.
"We have a Windows App that we just converted to .NET 4.0 and updated the viewer to the Crystal Reports Viewer in VS 2010. When we 952-555-555 open a report that has a large block of static text in paragraphs left-aligned the spacing around punctuation is awful - there's almost a tab's worth of space between the last letter and the period. I threw in the telephone number also you noted in this post.
I created a new report and copied the text above into a text object and then previewed. I then changed the fonts to various types and I don't see the problem.
I also used Courier New because it's a fixed font layout, meaning the same letter always uses the same amount of space, and it shows just fine also.
I've seen issues where the Video driver and screen size can affect the spacing. Usually updating the Video driver or changing your screen resolution resolves the problem.
What Video Drivers and Monitor are you using?
    And What OS?
    Thank you
    Don

  • Word Doc w/ Comments Creates PDF with Extra Space on Top & Bottom

I am converting a Word 2007 document to PDF and want the reviewer comments to show in balloons on the right side. When generated, my PDF ends up with inches of extra space on the top and bottom margins. This means my headers and rules are way out of place.  I have tried saving the Word doc as a PDF as well as an Adobe PDF format, but neither option helps. Any ideas how to get the PDF to print in the set 8.5 by 11 without adding all this extra space on the top and bottom? Thank you!

I think you are looking more at the settings within WORD, not Acrobat. I would suggest you change the printer (in print menu) to Adobe PDF and then do a print preview. That is what WORD will send to a PDF. If that is not what you want, the problem is one of figuring out how to change the properties in WORD. I don't have a review document handy (will have to wait until I am at work) and see how it appears when I create a PDF. In the meantime, try to look at what WORD is trying to do, because Acrobat generally is just trying to give you what the application is producing.

  • Pages inserting extra spaces.

I am trying to format a print ready manuscript. As you can imagine, spaces are precious things in it. Each time I open my document, my chapter headings, currently positioned at the top most line under the header, gets pushed down one full double space. This happens multiple times should I open and close the document.
I figured instead of using manual tab spacing, I would try Inserting Page Break, and just leave the heading at the top so nothing floats. But the problem persists.
Does anyone now how to address this? It's become quite a nuisance.

    Received your document.
    1. You are saving it as a Word .doc file. This is not Pages, expect some changes to happen.
    2. I got an import warning "Character border's aren't supported and were removed."
    3. You are positioning text by hammering at the return key instead of using +space before+
    4. I don't know what extra space you are referring to because there are so many returns. How amny are there supposed to be?
    5. Are the 2 returns supposed to be at the top of the 2nd page?
You didn't say but is this actually a Word document to start with and not a Pages file?
Is the change happening because the Character border is being removed?
You'll have to be clearer about what is actually changing as you have not given me any reference to judge what is different.

  • Scrollbar & extra spaces between pages.

    Hi All,
Please provide some help on smartforms.
We are facing following problem with smartforms, We have created a smartform having one table with dynamic content. And after this dynamic table we have some static content.Based on the no.of items, the length of the entries in the table varies. If the table entries length increased beyond the page length, then we are getting a scrollbar in the page in which this table is displayed.
We had maintained the page length to the maximum.
And we are also getting some extra spaces between each static content of the smartform.

i already set the margins to the exact limits of the frames.,
    have a question:
i have a big non repeating (a lot of repeating and no repeating frame inside.,print object 1st page) in the top of my main section and have a small repeating frame below it (print object last page.,)
does the small repeating frame causes the space? or it doesn't?
