Print Report.VI PDF Problem

I have a standard report which I print to a PDF (PDF Creator). I am facing a problem. When I issue the command to print the report, the VI executes fine, the error cluster is fine ... but the PDF itself is not created ... There is some delay in writing the PDF, but shouldn't the VI be running for as long as the PDF is being created ? Or does it lose control once it transfers the data to the printer ?
The PDF is created after few seconds ... Having a delay works but I don't want to hardcode it ... The other option is to see if the file exists or not and loop till it is created ....
Any better suggestions ?

Kudos always welcome for helpful posts

Yeah, That seems like a decent workaround.  While searching I found this old thread which suggests "
if you disable the spool function of your printer (in XP: advanced
printer properties/ print directly to printer) Labview will wait until
the print job is done." but this requires administrator rights on the printer.

    Hi all,

    Hi again,
I still didn't found the solution to my problem. In the "ascontrol.log" file of OC4J there is this warning:

  • Generate report to PDF problem; font or layout problem

    Hi all,
I have this report that look fine.
But when I generate this report to PDF one of the column which supposed to show date information become "******" in the PDF version.
Normally I would try to modify the report by changing its font to smaller one or expanding the field to accomodate longer string.
The problem is i don't have the RDF file.
So i need to know how to make the PDF i'm generating looks the same as the the original one i'm generating the PDF from.
btw The report is made with Report Builder 6.0.8.11.3, and running on oracle database 10g.
    Thank you.

    hello Gouri,
basically I just wish the PDF version of the report looks exactly like the one generated by reports runtime.
When I run the report all data is shown properly.. But the PDF version i generated from that failed to show one the column properly. Instead of showing the data the PDF version replace it with ******.
    How come?
Is this the same kind of problem where the printed result differ from what it look on the sreen?
    Is it adobe reader problem?

  • (9iAS) problem printing reports in pdf format on NT client

    Hi
    Some details first:
    iAS version=9.0.2.3.0
    Reports Version=9.0.2.0.3
    Portal Version=9.0.2.3b
    Client NT Version=4 SP4
Via a portal connection, a report is called by following a series of hyperlinks and the resulting url is like below:
    http://devoc4j.testcentre.co.uk/nrdms/xml/xmlResultSetPDF.xml?PID=eip&SID=vPXP9kQLR2NK1us1004&RID=aGa3Bhbn2PkffA81014&DOCID=2uRpdWVlscVNCab1012&&ieh=report.pdf
This report produces a pdf output fine for a client that has Win2K, however, with Windows NT we receive the following error message:
The requested URL could not be retrieved
While trying to retrieve the URL:
    http://devoc4j.testcentre.co.uk/nrdms/xml/xmlResultSetPDF.xml?PID=eip&SID=vPXP9kQLR2NK1us1004&RID=aGa3Bhbn2PkffA81014&DOCID=2uRpdWVlscVNCab1012&&ieh=report.pdf
    The following error was encountered:
Unable to determine IP address from host name for unknown server name
    This means that:
The cache was not able to resolve the hostname presented in the URL.
Check if the address is correct.
This is consistent across all NT client boxes.
I have changed the following settings on the NT boxes:
Select TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS > CONNECTIONS > LAN
SETTINGS and uncheck AUTOMATICALLY DETECT SETTINGS
This has had no effect, the problem is still existent. Does anyone have any ideas why?
Apologies for the length of the message, it's just to make it all clear!!

  • Print Report to PDF with columns vertical instead of horizontal

I enabled report printing for a report region but the PDF lists the columns horizontally even though the columns are listed vertically on the report page. Is there a way to list the columns vertically on the PDF so that it matches the layout on the report page. Thanks for your help.

    Hi hhsu68
Wondering how you are arranging columns listed vertically on the report page?
You mean just selecting any vertical report template, or
you mean just column headers are vertical and the data as normal (horizontal)?
If its the second case could you please let me know how you did that?
Off course I would also like to know if you have found a solution to your problem as well.
    Thank you

  • Drilldown and printing reports in PDF and HTMLCSS

I have created several reports and linked them together using
hyperlinks giving drilldown capability. The reports are being
generated via the Reports Server on a remote machine.
I have initially tried to do this using PDF due to its far
better print capabilities but there appears to be a problem
using drilldown with PDF. You cannot use the back key in the
browser having gone from REP1.PDF to REP2.PDF, all you get is a
little box in the top left corner of the browser.
So, I have also tried using HTMLCSS and pagestreaming (due to
the size of the reports and the slowness of creating the reports
in HTMLCSS) but now I cannot print out the entire report but
have to do it one page at a time.
As a work around solution I have created a before report trigger
which submits to the reports server a PDF version and added a
button on the pagestream section to print it out. What I don't
like about this is that I need to hardcode the name of the
reports server into the report itself as I use the RUN_REPORT
command. The problem being that I use a different reports server
for the test environment to the production environment and have
no wish to change all the reports just before they go into
    production.
I would be interested to know if other people have come across
the same or similar problem and how they overcame it.
    Thanks in advance
    Ralph.

    Hi all,

using the example in the above link,
I have created a report and tried to print in pdf format,
    But

Could anyone help me to make out the reason for this error?

    Srikavi,
Which rendering engine are you using? BI Publisher? Apache FOP? Did you follow the steps outlined here when you configured PDF printing:

  • Print Report in PDF format

I have a report region based on sql query. I want to print that report region in PDF or word format. How can I do that.
It may further be stated that I dnt have print server configured. Is it possible to do this wihout the configuration of report server.

    Syed,
If you want to use the PDF printing functionality built into APEX 3.0, you do have to configure a print server, see this document for further information:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/configure_printing.html
There have been discussions on other solutions on this forum, but whichever solution you choose, you'll need to install something that actually generates a PDF or Word (or RTF) document. As an alternative, you could perhaps use the CSV export to open your report in Excel, that option is available out of the box.

    Marc

  • Printing to Adobe PDF problem

CS3 suite installed on Windows XP.  When trying to print to PDF, I get the following:
If I reboot the computer, it will fix itself and run fine for a few days, and then I get the message again.  I have tried "repairing" the installation via the Windows Control Panel, but it doesn't seem to fix it.  I don't get this problem on my Laptop installation of the same software using Windows 7. Does anyone have a clue?  Everything else within the CS3 platform seems to work ok.

Perhaps so,e Acrobat update messes with this, but well, at that point Win XP is dead as in really dead, so anything is possible.

  • Print/Create Adobe pdf problems

I have always been able to create a pdf of any page that I was viewing on the web or on Microsoft word.  I tried it again today and I am getting an error message.  I print the page and select the Adobe pdf as the printer.  Normally, it would ask me to rename it and to select the location I would like it saved.  I am now getting a message saying "Invalid Adobe pdf printer properties, Do not change spooler settings.  Please select Print directly to the printer option from the Advanced window."  I never changed my options so I am not sure why this would pop up suddenly.  I even try to change the setting like the message said but this ends up doing nothing but giving me an error message by the printer icon on the bottom of my screen.  What can I do?

    If you get this:
    Invalid "Adobe PDF" printer properties
    Do not change spooler settings.
Please select "print directly to the printer" option (from Adobe PDF printer properties "advanced" tab)
    Try this:
Find the Acrobat printer in Printers.
Right click on it and select Properties then the Advanced Tab.
For me, "Spool print documents..." was selected.
The Fix:  Deselect "Enable advanced printing features".
    Click OK.

If you offer a PDF to the end user, they usually know what to do with it. OTOH, if you wish to provide software to facilitate the local printing, you might launch an application on the client side that accesses the JNLP API's PrintService - that can be done in a sandboxed application.
A signed application might access the normal J2SE based print services. Though I heard that Sun had decided to make printing a 'prompt on first attempt' deal - even for sandboxed apps., from 1.5 plus (or was it 1.6 plus?).
It would be a serious security bug if a web site could print on the client printer, without trust or active involvement from the end user.

  • XML PO PRINT REPORT for different Operating Units

    Hi all,
We are stuck at a point, hope someone helps us out.
Requirement : We need to generate PO print report in pdf format for US and Mexico , both having different layout.
Things done : We customized standard PO Print report to fetch XML output from it, and attached rtf(developed) to it.
Things working fine : For US , report is perfectly fine and looks good.
Issue : We need to generate for Mexico as well with different format.
We have value in xml tags which can distinguish between US and Mexico OU's and we can simple use if else condition in the template itself .
Here limitation is we have made MS word header as the PO header so we are not able to create different header for Mexico in the same rtf.
We dont want to complicate the rtf much with more loops by removing it from Header and then page break and all.
Can someone suggest something like use one rtf which handles both the format OR two different rtf registered for same concurrent program and which are called on the base OU.
We are totally fine if we can do something while registering to Apps.
Please let me know if any one wants more information.
    Hoping for a positive reply.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Vishal,
Assuming you are using R12+, you can have seperate templates used for differrent OUs. In the PO Approval workflow it shall pick the respective template.
During submission of concurrent program "PO Output for Communication", you can specify the right template in the input parameters.

  • Error when print report from apex using apex listener 2

    Hi
    Apex 4.2
I want print report to pdf from apex using apex listener 2.
The print server 'Oracle APEX listener' has been defined at the instance-level.
    ACL has been configured.
I attempt to download a report in PDF mode, it appears that it downloads,
but when I go to open it up I get an error that the file is of the wrong type or possibly corrupt.
Upon opening the file in Text editor, there is an error as below
    %PDF-1.4
    1 瀛楄妭鐨?UTF-8 搴忓垪鐨勫瓧鑺?1 鏃犳晥銆?

If you use Windows the user that runs the reports server is usually LocalSystem. Check this in the Windows Services panel.
LocalSystem has no printer access. To be able to print, you have to use a real domain user that has access to the printer. So, change the Log on properties in the Services panel.

  • Reports in .pdf , .xls files....

    Hi,
I have a requirement that the reports should be extracted/printed in .pdf and/or .xls files....
I know that these types of files can be generated via the use of XML Publisher... So , do i have to develop the reports using the XML Publisher only(without the use of report builder).... in order to cover this requirement.....????
    Note: i use EBS 11.5.10.2

    Sim,
That is correct. However, you can generate PDF reports using Reports Builder in 11i with some restrictions.
