Printer and TC problems...

OK, I give up. I had a Canon iP90V connected to the USB in my MBP, now I tried moving it to my TC. Under AirPort Utility I can see the printer connected, but it doesn't respond any other way.
What am I missing here?

I found a solution to this problem. Open AirPort Utility>select the Time Capsule>Manual Setup>Select the "Printers" tab at the top>check the box in front of "Share printers over Ethernet WAN port">click update at the bottom and Voila!!

    One thing you need to check is if your internet connection is intermittent. If it is not, you can follow these steps to give the printer a better connection.
    1. Find your printer's IP address by printing a network configuration page.
    2. Type you IP address into the address bar of your web browser.
    3. Click on the network tab at the top of the page.
    4. Look at the left hand side and click IPv4 under wireless.
    5. Change the IP settings to Manual.
    6. Enter the printer's IP address, your subnet mask, and your routers IP address or default gateway in the spaces.
    7. Set the Preferred DNS to 8.8.8.8.
    8. Set the Alternate DNS to 8.8.4.4.
    9. Click apply.(You may need to refresh the page if it says processing for longer than a min and click apply again.)
    The printer should have a better connection now.

    I am using 5 forms which all contain similar data idenntifiers as well as different information.  I discoverred that I could mergethe first two forms together and if the fields were named the same theefilling in the first form filled in the second.  This  workedwell as I wanted bothh of these pages printed.  Forms 3, 4, &5 are similar in terms of having the same initial data and if merged with the first two would produce similar results (all being filled out by ne datat entry) however I don't need these printed at this time and perhaps will not need them printed at all.  I want to have the merged file (all five forms) so that I fill out the data on Form 1, am able to print pages 1 & 2, and then extract and save separately pages 3, 4, & 5.  The end result is a form bank with completed forms ready to use if needed saved in their respective files.  Any solution?

    Everything you said is true, so not sure what the problem is.
    If you only want to print pages 1 & 2, then just enter that range in the print dialog when you print.  Or if you want it automated, then create a JavaScript that only prints those pages.
    Same with extracting the pages.

  • PSE10 Photobook print and save problem

    Hey all
    I have had some major problems with creating Photobooks on PSE10.
    The problem is that I have is that it is not saving the PSE file correctly.
    My last project (kids school prject) was complete (8 pages) and looked good with a title page.
    I tried to print a few test pages and noticed that it printed the title page and page 2, skipping page 1.
    After saving and exiting the program, I re-opened the file and the title page was gone and all of the other pages had a screwed up template that was twice as wide the template.  The problem was compouneded by a lack of flexiblity in the printing area.  Anything I tried did not work..ARRRRGGGG... Advanced mode was not too much help.
    I finally saved it as a PDF, opened it Acrobat and was able to print.  The project is still screwed up, but I was able to print it.
    It would be great if Adobe allowed more flexiblity with the "page settings and size" for the canvas.
    Templates are good, but more flexiblity is needed. 
    PSE10 should allow saving or exporting of a Photo Book to individual PSD files.
    I am using a Win7 system, and a Canon iP6000 printer.  The Photo Book template that I was using was "Storyteller".
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
    There aren't any specific steps or settings for saving or printing a document.
    To save it just single click on the agreement under the Manage page, and click the "PDF" button towards the top of the page. This will open the document in your default PDF viewing application where you can save it to your local system.
    Once it is saved, I would try printing it from there. Having it saved to your system may make a difference.
    Unfortunately, printing issues are difficult to troubleshoot since it deals with your local hardware and your local system.

  • Printing and Office2004 problems

    Hi all,
    I have some problems that i need to solve, I'm using Pb g4 12" 1.3GHZ, 1.25 gig ram. Epson R1800 and HP PSC 1020 both connected using aiport express.
    First, printing problem. Everytime i try to print, from photoshop, word, preview, freehand mx, everything, it takes a long time only to open the print dialog window. After setting up my printing, it also takes way too long to reach the printer (both using airport and direct usb/firewire). Beside that, everything is normal. My concern is, my friends' PBs arent like that. Whenever they press apple+p or click print, the dialog showed right away. And they connect to their printer just fine, not like me.
    Second, Microsoft Office 2004 problem. Takes forever to open word and excel. I uninstall and install them and then update them, just help me a little. I have so many fonts and i realized that they are freezing on "optimizing font menu.........." So i deleted my aftermarket fonts and it helps a lot (I'm currently using fontbook but downloaded and planning to use fontExplorer X). Do fonts and fontbook have anything to do with this?
    Third, slow booting. I know that it's a common topic but i've tried so many things and i still need to wait 5-8 minutes just to start up. I did disk utility, cleaning log files, checking my start up. I use only 20% of my HD as I store my musics and artworks in external HDs. The thing is... my PB booted faster after I deleted my fonts collection, but not fast enough.

    Thanks for your reply. I will update my drivers eventhough i think they are all the newest one. The problem is this freezing condition doesn't only occur while im using airport. It also happens when i connect them using usb/firewire. I asked my girlfriend to install the drivers on her PB G4 15" and printed something in my house. Her computer was just working fine and fast, way faster than mine... and I don't think it's a hardware issue or maybe it is.

  • Printing and language problem after re-installing BasePackage-Leopard ques?

    I reinstalled BasePackage system as advised only it seems I reinstalled the entire package. What happened? It restarted and I received the window as if the computer was new and I had to fill in all the appropriate info. Well it worked fine saving all my settings etc. and I was able to verify permissions and repair. However MAIL started acting up and requested the password for my mail several times until I think that is solved.
    But I have several problems now. I work with Arabic and Hebrew going over from the keyboard 'command/space' and now with this command I get Spotlight. On my word processor Nisus or Mellel or on TextEdit even if I click on the Hebrew/Arabic icon and also choose the appropriate Hebrew/Arabic font it will only write in English.
    Aside from this I cannot print at all. I am using HP LaserJet 5MP with AppleTalk thru an ethernet connection on my router because of the outdated technology.I am using a 'bridge' from Asante technology for this.
    I have an external Firewire HD which I have started up from now and I can print from this and have no problems with the Hebrew/Arabic.
    Also I have not gone over to Leopard for the following reason. As mentioned above I am using a bridge thru ethernet to facilitate my printer. I have been told by many who have also not gone over to Leopard that there are driver problems with printers. Has this been fixed? Is it applicable to my situation?

    That sounds bad. You might try setting up a new user account and see if it works when you are logged in there. If not, I would reinstall the OS.

  • Printing and Sizing Problems with PDF Files

    I have grading keys saved as PDF files.  When I open them in the Adobe Reader X, some come up looking fine, fitting nicely on an 8.5" x 11" page and ready for print.  Others come up looking shrunken and in the middle of the page.  When I try to resize and print these, I get all kinds of funky results.
    What I want to do is process all the PDF files (grading keys) so that they will fit nicely on the 8.5x11, without the user having to do a bunch a stuff resizing, etc.
    I have included links to two PDF files below.  The first comes up fine in the Adobe Reader and the sond does not.  Can anyone help me with this perplexing issue?  Thanks.

    Note:  I might add that when I open these files in Adobe Photoshop CS, the one above that looks good comes up with dimensions 23.687"x17.745", while the one that comes up looking funky has dimensions 10.24"x7.85".  I am as confused as a termite in a yo-yo.

    Both of your documents have the same size: 279.4mm x 215.9mm.  The difference is that the 'good.pdf' has its content evenly distributed over the available size, the other one has its content minimized in the center, with a large white space around it (in Adobe Acrobat).
    As for why it shows a different size in Photoshop, I have no idea.
    There is not much you can do about it with Adobe Reader, but you can change the size using Photoshop or Illustrator.  See attachment to this post.

    When trying to start the C4680 photosmart printer a message askes to INSERT MEMORY CARD, which I don't have and never needed before.
    It doesn't print anything but blank sheets of paper, and wants to scan without being asked.

  • Osx mountain lion print and scan problems

    I purchased OSX 10.8 mountain lion upgrade it shut down one of my computers and I had to repair my drive and go back to Lion OSX.
    The other one has made it unable to scan and shows some programs incorrectly comcast email etc. Almost like a Windows safe mode look.
    Any ideas or help?

    Well I can only say it works great on my two machines, 2007 iMac and 2010 MacBook Pro and these have 4Gb of Ram. Does not you help you but I can only say how it works for me.
    Have you run Activity Monitor and checked if any processes are using lots of CPU/Mem etc. Also anything in the Console Logs. Something is slowing it down, bad install or third party software etc.
    If you have just installed a few minutes ago, Spotlight as to index the disk and this can take a while, it will run slow while this is occuring but will sort itself out, it will indicate if it is spotlight if you try to use it.

  • Printing and scanning size problems (half size)

    Hello,
    I am having an issue with my Pixma MP170.  When printing multiple pages or scanning a paper document, the size come out really small all of a sudden and two pages will be together in one print or scan.   I looked for updated drivers but that doesn't look to be the issue and the problem pesists.
    I tried to reset the printer to default but nothing. 
    Not sure how to proceed.

    I have had something very like your problem.
    Mine is printing quarter size in landscape and is also not scanning or doing copies at the moment..
    I can find no way of setting it and it ignores all settings sent from the computer.
    It printed one test page correctly and once I tried printing a small text file it came out small and in landscape and now even the test page is also small and also in landscape.
    I am tempted to look inside for an engineering jumper or backup battery.
    Mine is an MP270.

  • Problem with printer and laptop wireless connectio...

    Hi    In the last 2 months we have found that the only way we can get the wireless printer and the laptop to connect to the wireless hub is by switching off the hub and restarting it.  The printer will then print and the laptop connect to the internet but once either is switched off again the only way we can get the hub to 'talk' to them is by switching off the hub.  I have been in touch with BT advisors this morning but not really got anywhere.  The chap was going to change the BT frequency but we have a Hub 3 so I don't think this is relevant.  Apparently we have got a good broadband speed.  I am not technical in any way but logic dictates it must be a hub problem.  Has anyone had similar problems - or any ideas.   The main tower PC has not had problems so far but we have noticed that short videos have been so slow that at times they freeze. Again this is very recent.   Many thanks.

    Hi Bob - not sure where Neener went nor if his issue was sorted out, but I'm stuck in the same place.  The manual for the printer tells me to select a WLAN network and put the printer in SES/WPS/AAOS mode - which I did.  Then it, in theory, went looking wirelessly for my Airporter Extreme.  It thought for 3 minutes and then came back with "No Access Point".  The AE is working fine, but the printer can't find it. 
    And another weird issue is that when I installed the drivers from the CD that came with the printer, it doesn't show up anywhere on my computer - nor does it show up as an option to add the printer.  It's just  non-existent.
    Here are the details....
    Printer: Brother HL-3070cl
    MacbookPro: 10.6.7
    Router: Airport Extreme
    Wireless mode: Create a wireless network
    Wireless security: WPA2 Personal (is that ok even if this is for a business?)
    Connect using: ethernet
    Configure IPv4: Using DHCP
    Any help you can offer me would be SO appreciated.  I'm pulling my hair out and have been trying to figure this out for nearly 2 hours now!!

  • Problem with HP 3600n Color Laserjet Printer and new HP Notebook Running 64 bit Win7

    I have a new HP notebook (dv7t-6100) with Core-i7 Processor, running 64 bit Windows 7 with all of the latest updates.
    I also have a 27" iMac with Core-i7 Processor running 64 bit Windows 7 underneath Parallels 7. Parallels is a program that creates a virtual machine underneath Mac OSX.
    Both versions of 64 bit Windows 7 work perfectly . . . EXCEPT, neither will print from my HP 3600n Color Laserjet. The iMac will print to the 3600n in OSX mode, and an earlier version of 32 bit Windows 7 under Parallels printed perfectly with this 3600n printer.
    These facts prove that the printer is OK, the connection is OK. However, the 64 bit Windows 7 systems do not print.
    In both of the 64 bit Windows 7 installs I allowed Windows to find and download the HP driver for this printer. Install of the driver was apparently successful. Still no printing. 
    One strange fact: Sometimes when I turn the computer off, the 3600n printer will print the items that had been in the queue before powering down. That is the only time it has printed anything . . . except under OSX on the iMac.
    Does anyone know if there is a basic problem with 64 bit Windows 7 and this printer ?

    I just had the same problem with my MacBook Pro using 10.5.5 After trying a number of things, the following worked. (not sure what specifically ... just did this combination)
    1. Had the Apple store Genius Bar folks install the latest HP drivers.
    2. Restart computer
    3. Restart the HP Color LaserJet 3600
    4. Connected the HP printer and MacBook Pro directly into a switch, so the wireless was not an issue (both machines had IP addresses set and computer's was set to DHCP with manual IP).
    5. Instead of using the System Preference printing and fax tool, I started Text Edit, typed something and said "print".
    Print window came up and said "no printer selected"
    6. I clicked on the drop down so it would look for printers.
    7. It found the HP Color LaserJet 3600.
    8. I clicked on the name of the printer and the computer went out and found the driver
    9. I clicked on "Add" and it added the printer.
    10. I tried a couple of test prints in different programs.
    11. I disconnected the hard wired ethernet cables and set the computer to be on the wireless.
    12. I printed a few more test prints in various programs.
    I had previously tried selecting the printer and drivers through the System Preferences to no avail, but doing it this way worked.

  • Problem with HP C4380 wireless printer and MacBook

    Hi -
    Bought a MacBook (first Mac in many, many years) and then a C4380 so I could have wireless printing. Geek Squad installed printer but it never worked wireless again after they left. Had them back, switched it to static IP, now they are gone and I have the same problem again. They told me to delete the printer and re-add it any time it stopped working. So, I deleted it today and now can't re-add it because I can't find it in the printer list. Do I have to reinstall the driver? I can still see HP software in my applications. ??? Sorry so ignorant--no experience with Mac in the past 12 years. Thx for any help.

    First find out the IP address of the printer given by the Geek Squad since it is a static IP. Then when you are going to add the printer and you don't see it at the list enter the IP on the bottom and search for it.

    When using my HP 7020e photosmart printer and Adobe photoshop elements 11, I get a very small white border on the prints. I have set for borderless printing. Adobe says the print size is 4.2 x 6.18 instead of 4 x 6. Any suggestions?

    I had already set it to borderless but it still prints a very small white 
    border. HP had no solution. I am ready to send the printer back to them.
