Printer has communication errors?

What do three dots over the bluetooth symbol mean?

You can also try resetting the printing system.

  • While c.lick the print button, communication error is raising

    Hi,
    Environment details:
    OS: Windows 2008 with IIS-7
Crystal report 2008 runtime deliverables are installed
I am using aspx to launch the report. The crystal report is getting launched and all the options are working fine. But When i try to print the report. It throw error as Communication error. In this environment virtual directory is exposed to launch through internet. The PrintControl.cab file is getting downloaded.
While analysing the problem by fiddler, i find out the print task request url additionally contains port number 8080 and the response is Gateway timeout Error(Http response code:504). The report launching process is out the postback url with portnumber.
Can anyone please help me to overcome this issue?
    Thanks,
    Ramkumar M

Look for the search box in the top right corner of this web page. Enter the following string: 'Communication error crystal net'. You should get a number of results. See if any of those help.

  • 3100b phone has communications error with PC suite

    Hello:
I have been using PC successfully on my phone, synchronizing with MS Outlook for quite some time. I recently experienced a communcation error during the synchronization of my calender that I cannot resolve. I restored my phone settings, upgaded PC suite and rerun the PC suite settings wizard several times. I have tried updating both directions, as well as updating only outlook data to the phone, but I just can't get passed the "Communications Error" on item 2 of 50.
I am running the following software:
    XP (Version 5.1, Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519, service pack2)
    PC Suite 6.81.13.0
    Outlook version 11.0, Build 8010
    Connectivity Cable Driver 6.81.1.2
Does anyone know why this problem has suddenly appeared and how I might go about resolving it?
    Thanks much for your insight.
    g.

I have this problem too.  PC Suite clearly recognises the E51 and the other programs in the suite seem to work OK.  But when I select Sync nothing happens.  I have switched off Nokia email messaging just in case that was causing the problem but it makes no difference.
Has anyone found out what the solution is yet?

  • Initial Print jobs 'communication error with device'. Pause and restart job

So, I have an odd variant of the Leopard print problem; on 3 separate systems.
When I print to an HP Photosmart C7180, which setup fine, which I can scan to fine, the print job throws an error :error communicating with device, switch on and off' and so forth. It does that from any app, and consistently. I am printing via bonjour, the printer is networked, but on a static IP.
To fix this EVERY-TIME I PAUSE printer, then start printer again. It immediately starts working, consistently until I sleep, log out, or don't print for a while.
This seems to be some timeout issue or such. I tried IP printing, but no difference.
Resetting the print system also did not help.
It's not catastrophic but sooo annoying. Any input appreciated!
    Thx,
    Dan

Hello SunnygirlQ. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
Unfortunately, not all USB printers are compatible with AirPort base stations. In addition, the AirPort's USB port does not support the "advanced" printer functions, like scanning, copying or faxing, of multi-function printers.
To see if your printer is compatible, take a look at this iFelix Unofficial AirPort Printer Compatibility link.
If your printer isn't listed, it doesn't necessarily mean it won't work, but simply that it has not been verified. iFelix also provides the following workaround for printers not on the list that would certainly be worth a try.
Also you can try this Apple Tech Support article to see if it will help:
o Printer troubleshooting for AirPort Extreme and AirPort Express
I assume that this printer works just fine when it is connected directly to your Mac ... correct? If so, has it worked when connected to the AX in the past ... or has it always had this problem? If it did work correctly before, did you do any updates, especially to the AX, recently?

  • Printer communication error and cannot add a new printer

I was happily using my Epson Artisan 810 printer this morning, connected wirelessly to my iMac.  All of a sudden I cannot print, get "Communication Error".  Checked Epson's website, no luck there.  Re-checked my wireless settings on the printer itself and re-confirmed them, it will print test pages from the printer, but still not communicating with the iMac.  I thought that removing the printer and then adding it back in might help, but now I cannot add any printer at all.
I resorted to my MacBook Pro, and now have the same problem with this as well.
Any ideas please?  What else can I check.  My internet and so on are fine.  The printer itself shows the wireless icon and says the reception is excellent on the printout it produced.
    Thanks so much!
    L.

It would be unusual for only Bonjour to stop working in the printer. The more likely is that the printer is set to a different network subnet to that for your Mac or, as you mentioned, something like a firewall is blocking it.
The IP addressing is the most common cause. If there is a process to view or print the network settings for the Epson, then this will show what IP address range it has, which should be the same as your Mac. With the IP address, there will be four sets of numbers. For a typical home network, the first three sets are known as the IP subnet, while the last set is the network address. For example, a device with an IP address of 10.0.1.5, has an IP subnet of 10.0.1 and a network address of 5. For your Mac to 'see' the printer, both devices would need the same IP subnet, while having a different network address. So if you can check what IP address the Epson has, you may find it is using a different IP subnet to your Mac.

  • "communication error" issues with my epson stylus photo r2400

I have downloaded the most recent print driver download from Apple. The computer "recognizes" the printer, yet when I try to print anything I get a "Communication Error" message in the Printer window.

One of the problems I have in the classrooms with these printers is that someone will send a print job to the printer but because the job is mis-configured, it wiill not print.  Then the user logs off but does not cancel the print job.  That can block the printer from printing for any following user.
When that happens, the only reliabkle way that I have found is to kill ALL the print jobs, no matter which user submitted them.  Then I restart the printer and, ususlly, the computer allso.  That will seem to bring the printer back to working correctly.  The actual problem description may be "Printer Paused", "Communication Error"  or a few other errors.
To kill ALL the print jobs, log in as admin, open Applications/Utilities/Terminal and enter the following command"
"sudo cancel -a" without the quotes.
Enter your password and let the computer completly empty the prinrter queue.  Please be aware that this command will kill all the jobs for ALL printers connected to that computer and not just the 2400.
Then I restart the printer and it comes back on-line and ready.  If the printer is fed from a network or is a shered printer and has multiple computers sending it print jobs, you will have to kill the print jobs on all computers that may send a job to that printer just to catch the one bad job that is plugging up the system.
If that fails, you may have to reinstall the print driver and then the printer.

  • Canon MX340 wireless printer no longer connecting over wireless and coming up with "a communications error has occured"

I have a Canon MX340 wireless printer and have only recently started having trouble printing over the wireless connection. No settings have changed on my MacBook Pro, the printer, the router or the wifi connection and it is strange how it has just stopped working. I have tried things like restarting the laptop and removing the printer from the laptop and re-adding it. It sometimes seems to work for maybe one print but then it goes back to saying "a communications error has occured", when I try to print again.
Any help would be great. Thanks

I had the same MX340 problem.  My printer was working fine over WiFi connection to my Airport Extreme for years and then suddenly, about a month ago, it stopped printing after the first print job.  I can print once and then I have to power-cycle the printer to get it to print another time and then I have to repeat the power-cycle.
The printer seems to be "forgotten" by the network or lose its connection after the first print job.
On my MacBookPro 10.6.8 I get the error code 300...yadayadayad... On my iMac 10.5.8 it just says :communications error".
HERE IS THE FIX - I got it off this link - http://www.techsurvivors.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=24681
You have to connect to the MX340 using the printer cable that came with the printer (or any USB printer cable) and set up a hardwired USB printer queue.  Then print a couple of print jobs - I use TextEdit and type in "1234".  Then try the same thing but select your WiFi print queue - I just type another line on the same sheet of paper with TextEdit.
The WiFi connection should work again.  I did this a few more times and then disconnected the USB cable and now it continues to work without the USB print queue being used.  I can also print to the WiFi queue with my iMac.
If you still have problems I suggest you set up the printer again on the WiFi router using the "print cable connection" method.  Here's a link to a webpage someone kindly provided instructions for the process:

  • Communication error has occurred - Canon PIXMA printer

This was driving me nuts! I tried many of the other ideas offered in these discussions, but nothing worked. Sometimes my Canon PIXMA MP640 WiFi printer would work, usually it wouldn't.  I would get "A communication error has occurred" message on my MacBook Pro (Snow Leopard) and the print job would just stay in the queue until I deleted it. Most of the time I needed  to re-enter the network password at the printer BEFORE EVERY PRINT JOB which was a pain because the password was 10 characters long and I could only dial in each letter one at a time.
If you are having similar trouble, before you do anything CHECK THE WIFI SIGNAL STRENGTH USING THE PRINTER MENUS!  On my model, this was done by going from the Home menu to Settings->Device Settings->LAN Settings->Confirm LAN settings->Print LAN Details.  If the signal strength on the printout shows less than 50%, there is too much interference from other electronics in the area (or the printer is too far from the router).  In my case, the printer was in the next room, i.e., not too far from the router so I knew it had to be EM interference.
At first, my signal strength was showing 36%.  Then I moved the printer into the same room as the wifi router, within 7ft and directly in line of sight of it and it went to 62%. I thought it should be much higher, so I moved the printer to within 4ft and it went to 80%.  Then I unplugged the LCD TV (which was NOT turned on at any time) that was on the counter nearby, and it jumped to 90%.
After months of poking at this problem and finally resigning to the idea that the printer was broken, I tried this and now it works perfectly as long as the TV is unplugged.  I plan on moving the router away from the TV so I won't have to unplug it whenever I print.
    Hope this helps!

I've wrestled with this off and on with this printer ever since I got it. Just checked and my signal was at 44%. Guess that could be it!... guess I'll do some relocating of the router, boost the signal or run an ethernet line. Never though the signal being that low would cause this many print errors.
I thought is was just happening when the printer would go to sleep... or not used for a few days.
    Thanks!

  • I cannot print to my wireless Canon printer.  A communication error has occurred.

I have had no problems printing to my wireless Canon printer until yesterday.  Now when I try to print the icon at the bottom shows a printing job has been started but nothing ever prints.  When I open the print cache it tells me that "A communication error has occurred."  I've checked the printer and it is still set up properly.  I have unplugged my wireless router and modem to reset, but this has not interrupted my ability to access internet nor has it reset the printer to a different setting.  I am at a loss as to why I can't print any longer.  Since we bought the mac in July I haven't had any problems and this really has thrown me for a loop as to why it is occuring.  Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps one of the printer drivers is corrupt. Go to http://www.canon.com.au/en-AU/Support-Services/Drivers-and-Downloads (or other country download).

  • I'm new to the Mac world. I installed my Epson printer on my IMAC and it worked fine. Then I installed Windows7 through Bootcamp and I think it reconfigured a port and now I get a communication error and it won't print. Any help on how do to fix this?

Sorry, I'm new to the Mac world. I recently got a new IMAC and installed my Epson CX5800F printer and it worked fine. Then a few weeks later I installed Windows7 through Bootcamp and I think it reconfigured a port or something and now I get a communication error and it won't print. • I received a low ink warning on my mac for my epson artisan 837 printer. I replaced the cartridge that was low but it still reads low ink on the mac but reads full on the epson control panel. I am also receiving a communication error between the mac

    What exactly is the error?
And, we'd need some info re. your Mac model and OS version - you are not running iOS on it.
You need to realize that this model has been discontinued and the last driver updates are dated about a year ago. If you are running Mavericks, there may not be an updated driver for it. But you can try to delete the printer and add it again to see if that will work.

  • I can't see my Canon MG5220 printer... Initially I was getting "there is a communication error" so I rebooted everything, reset the printing system, reinstalled the driver and still NO luck! It seems to see the scanner, but never the printer. HELP!

I can't see my Canon MG5220 printer... Initially I was getting "there is a communication error" so I rebooted everything, reset the printing system, reinstalled the driver and still NO luck! I see no printers available in the Print & Scan area. If I click "+" it seems to see the scanner, but never the printer. HELP!

The printer component uses a different protocol to advertise itself on the network compared to the scanner component and it can take several seconds longer to appear after the scanner has.
That said, with the introduction of AirPrint, the MG should be seen as Bonjour Multifunction in the Add Printer window, as shown below.
Selecting this Bonjour Multifunction entry will create a printer using AirPrint and a scanner using the iCA driver.
So do you see the MG5220 as Bonjour Multifunction or just Bonjour?
