PrinterSetupEx dialog in CRXI R2

I recently moved a VB6 project from Crystal Reports 9 to 11.5. In version 9, the dialog presented by PrinterSetupEx allowed the user to select a printer and its paper size, source and orientation (and as the user changed printers, the valid paper sizes and sources would be updated in the dialog).
In 11.5 the dialog presented by PrinterSetupEx allows the user to specify the paper size, source and orientation -- but not the printer. It seems the only place the user gets to specify a printer is in the print process itself, if the Printout/PrintOutEx is called with the promptuser option. Am I missing something? Wouldn't the printer have to be selected before the user could be presented with valid paper source and handling options?
Is there a way I can get to the old dialog? Thanks.
Brian

  • Report preview and printing performance issues in CRXI R2

    Hello to all,
We have successfully upgraded a corporate Web reporting site from CR8 to CRXI R2 Server SP3 VS2005 Asp2. Using managed reports, and native Oracle data access, performance has greatly improved. The CRXI site  displays the first page in half the time as CR8. These are often very large reports.
The problem we are having is when you try to print, export, or just page thru a report in previewer. It takes as long to go to page 2, or to bring up the print dialog screen as it did for page 1 to display in the first place. This is drastically different from the performance on CR8. On the old site, when a report displayed, you could flip thru it like a Word document. Hardly any pause at all. Clicking on the printer icon brought up the print box immediately.
Is there a way to tell the 'CrystalReportsViewer' to load all pages before showing the first page?
If not, is anyone aware of a third party replacement for the CRV?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Joe Early

    Hello Joseph,
What you're seeing is essentially expected behavior for a CR Server (BO Enterprise) based report.  When you try to page through a report or print it you're basically rerunning the report on each button click.
To get around this behavior you can put your Report Object / InfoStore object into session and view, page, or print the session object from the viewer.
You can review [Business Objects Note 1203389|https://bcp.wdf.sap.corp/sap/sapnotes/display/0001203389] for an example with the Crystal Reports .NET SDK.  You'll want to add check for the session on post back, etc. but the code should give you an idea of how to get started.

  • Product key not valid error while installing CRXI

    Post Author: JSC
    CA Forum: Upgrading and Licensing
I purchased CRXI a few months ago, but waited till I had my new hard drive in place before.
At the "user information dialog I entered the only product key code I could find in the case, attached to the third CD pocket in the case.
Result:   "Product key code XXXXX-XXXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXX is not valid or has expired."
However I can see now that it is the activation code for "Cyrstal Reports Server XI R2"
There are stickers in the case with a shorter code "14-5XXX8-0XXXXE"  I had also tried this code, but the error is the same.
I hope I don't need an ealier vesrion of CR in place.  I hace CR9, however it is not here with me at this time.
    Any ideas

I think you still have to install a profile on the device with that type of license... no?

  • CRXI - Adding SQL subtables to already existing tables in a report

    Crystal Reports XI
    SQL 2005
I have a SQL 2005 set of tables and subtables with their respective fields.  In one of a pre-existing CRXI report there's an Opportunity table which now has a new "Opportunity_Details" subtable related to the original Opportunity table.  This is a 1:1 relationship so that for each and every Opportunity record in the Opportunity table there exists only one Opportunity_Details record.. and vice versa.  I can see the Field Explorer on the lower right of the screen but how do I ADD (connect?) the Opportunity_Details table to the pre-existing Opportunity table so I can use BOTH tables in a report?  I've looked into Data Source Location but that didn't do anything.  I can see all the respective fields in all tables in the Field Explorer.  I just need to ADD a new table to the Field Explorer either 'under' the Opportunity table or 'under' the Database Fields area.
Once the connection is made is this connection valid for any and all sub-reports also?
My experience is primarily on v8.5 so some 'easy' assistance here would be helpful. I've looked around but nothing seems to jump out!
    TIA!!

It sounds right. Verify your database for the connection that does not show the table. If it does not show up, try setting the location again, setting the original connection list of tables to the new connection (I hope that makes sense).
I can not see the document you listed as my IT department has that web side blocked

  • Printer button invisible in CRXI Designer

    Hi,
I'm using CRXI Developer under Windows Vista and XP.
Under Windows XP, the dialog "page setup" contains a button "printer" (frame "print options").
This button is invisible under Vista (and Windows 7).
The same effect happens with the RDC/VCL component which is distributed with the application,
so customers are not able to select another printer on Vista/Win7, too!
    Is this a well-known problem?
Is there a workaround/bugfix? (latest hotfix for Designer and latest merge modules are installed).
    Thanks,
    Daniel

Daniel, your solution is to upgrade to a version that supports Vista and WIN 7. You will have to upgrade to CR XI release 2, and then install SP 5.
    CR XI r2 is here:

  • Printer button invisible in CRXI Designer Release 2 SP 5 / Windows 7

    Hi,
I'm using CRXI Developer Release 2 SP5 (11.5.11.1470, just updated from Release 1 as suggested in another thread)) under Windows 7.
Under Windows XP, the dialog "page setup" contains a button "printer" (frame "print options").
This button is invisible under Windows 7.
    Thanks,
    Michael

    Hi Don, Michael,
I've got the same issue on our application here. I've looked around on forums and this button seems to dissapear when using the Crystal 11/12 runtimes (with SP2) in Windows Vista/7. In Windows XP it's fine and appears.
Interestingly, although it's not visible you can use the keyboard shortcut to trigger the function of the button, so ALT+P works, however this in a customer perspective isn't a solution!
Do you know if this is going to be fixed or identified? My company has a service agreement but I couldn't work out how to raise a case, so came to the people in the know on this forum
    Many Thanks,
    Hem
P.S. Could you detail the way you suggest to find what's wrong if it's permissions? Thanks

  • Upgradting from CR9 (VS2k2) to CRXI R2 (VS2k5)

I'm in the process of upgrading our application from CR9 to CRXI R2.  At the past I was able to create an MFC class from the actual ActiveX viewer and thus able to create an instance of the viewer on my dialog.  I'm attempting to do the same thing with the new version of the CRViewer ActiveX component but no such luck (no interfaces available in the "Crystal ActiveX Report Viewer Control 11.5<1.0>" control).  I then attempted to add the same control Crystal ActiveX Report Viewer Control 11.5<1.0> on a new dialog and when I right-click to create a variable for the viewer control I get the error message "Extender Provider failed to return an Extender for this object."
Hope I made my self clear and thank you in advance for your response.
Sorry I added the question in the wrong forum. Please disregard this posting as I will repost it in the correct forum.  Thank you.

Not sure if this will help, but this is an internal tip I've stored since version 10 of CR:
how do you upgrade an RDC cpp app to v10?
    1) Open project
    2) go to Resource View and open your dialog with the crystal report viewer
    3) Delete the old viewer. If your computer only has version 10, this will show up as a blank activeX control, you may have also received an error message when you loaded the project 'activeX control could not be instantiated'
    4) Right click on the dialog and select 'insert activeX control'
    5) Select the Crystal ActiveX Report Viewer Control 10
    6) Resize the control how you would like
    7) Right click on the dialog and go to the class wizard.
    8) Select the 'member variables' tab.
    9) Delete the existing Viewer member variable. It will have the Control ID IDC_CRVIEWER1 or something similar. You can also check the type: CCrystalreportViewer9 or CCrystalreportViewer depending on the previous crystal report version you were using.
    10) Select the Control ID for the new viewer and add a member variable for it. It will tell you it needs to generate a c++ wrapper for it. Allow it to do this. You will need to name the variable.
    11) If you selected a different variable name than you were using originally, you will need to update the references to the viewer
    12) you must import the new craxdrt. IE:
    #import "c:\program files\crystal decisions\report designer component\craxdrt9.dll"; no_namespace
    becomes
    #import "c:\program files\common files\crystal decisions\2.5\bin\craxdrt.dll"; no_namespace
Only thing to watch for on the above; step (12) the file path would be "c:\program files\business objects\common\3.5\bin\craxdrt.dll";. Oh, and of course, line (5) changes to Crystal ActiveX Report Viewer Control 11.5

  • Modal Text Search / Find Dialog

    Hi,
    I'm using CR 2008 SP2 .NET SDK.
Is there anyway to set the Find Dialog of the CR Viewer to be a mdi child?
Currently it is modal but it makes the usability of this find really horrible.
In CRXI this form was not modal.

    What version of .NET?
Using .NET 2008, I get a nice mdi child form and I am able to drag it all over the place. I don't recall there ever being a change with this in CR 2008... Are you clicking on the binocular button of the DHTML viewer?

  • Filename in Save As dialog when saving PDF file

I have a web site serving up PDF files. Without going into details, the URLs of the PDFs are not just your basic URL but look simething like this:
    http://www.domain.com/WorkFlowApp/Clients/demo1/secure/Promo%20Cover%20Cool-MedH i.pdf?userId=55b64ad5-28a2-490e-b3d6-4944099a390f#collab=CollabService@http://ww w.domain.com/ICCollab/IC_Service.asmx?WSDL
In this case the actual filename is "Promo Cover Cool-MedHi.pdf"
While viewing in Safari (OS X), if the user saves the PDF to their local machine, the Save As dialog comes up and the filename field is automatically populated. The problem is, instead of using just the filename, the field contains this:
    http---www.domain.com-WorkFlowApp-Clients-demo1-secure-Promo%20Cover%20Cool-MedH i.pdf?userId=55b64ad5-28a2-490e-b3d6-4944099a390f#collab=CollabService@http---ww w.domain.com-ICCollab-IC_Service.asmx?WSDL
I know when performing the same action on Windows using Internet Explorer, the Save As dialog box filename field is populated correctly with just the filename (although it shows up URL encoded as Promo%20Cover%20Cool-MedHi.pdf, which is OK).
I'd like to be able to force Safari to use just the filename in the Save As dialog box. Has anyone come accross this problem and figured out a solution?

  • Any way to see ICONS in Open and Close Dialog boxes?

Is there any way to see ICONS in Open and Close Dialog boxes, instead of just lists of items names?
I know you can preview one at a time, but I'd love to see all my artwork as picture icons, just as you can in a finder window.
Windows does this, but not OSX that I know of. Is there a third party app that enables you to see icon view in the Open and Close Dialogs?

Thank you Steve Jobs. I guess that feature has been added in Leopard. Now there really is nothing that I'll miss from Windoze.

  • Open and Save Dialog Boxes Appear Briefly then Close

Open and save dialogs on my MDD 867 flash briefly and then close themselves in my administrator account. All the other accounts are fine. This makes me suspect something in the Library. I just did a wipe and install plus Migration Assistant to no avail--which furthers my suspicion of Library problems.
Anyone have any suggestions which file(s) could be the culprits?

More than likely it's a conflict/corrupted amongst the various preference (plist) files. Log into a good admin account, backup the bad account's folder, delete the bad account, selecting the save data option (which is stored in /Users/Deleted Users/ as a disk image), recreate the bad account using the same username/password combo, log out and back into the recreated original account. If the problem's solved, open the saved data dmg file in /Users/Deleted Users/, open the /Library/Preferences/ folder from the saved data, open the current /Users/restored account/Library/Preferences/ folder, and slowly copy plist files from the saved data folder to the current one that don't exist in it. Log out and back in to ensure there's no conflict and things still work correctly. Resolving conflicts or identifying corrupt plist files is a laborious process. Good luck.

  • Open dialog box....

    Hi Everyone,
I have designed a form in which user has to input the path where he wants to save his report.
    Like c:\test.PDF
what i want to do is that when user click a button againts this field a dialog box should appear in which he can select the location, like in Notepad File > Open or File Save.
and after selecting the path and closing the box the path should be display in the text field which i have provid to my user. Is it possible to attach the default file extension automatically in the text box?
like if user have written c:\test it should be automatically converted into c:\test.PDF? Any Idea?
How is this posible in Developer 6i. I will be very thankful if someone can help me solving this problem.

  • Open and Save dialogs are painfully slow. Is there a solution?

Open and Save dialogs are painfully slow. Is there a solution?

I pulled this part out of one of the topics Barney-15E linked to. It absolutely works! The glacially slow Finder response has been driving me batty in Mavericks. Each time I restarted, it would take forever to list the startup drive when I opened it. Open and Save dialogues were also painfully slow to respond. Now they all snap open and list instantly. I used TextWrangler to comment out the line in the file auto_master, then ran the automount command in Terminal.
    Working workaround:
Use the following statements in Terminal.
    sudo vi /etc/auto_master
In this file comment out /net with #  (#/net .....)
    sudo automount -vc
    Fixed.
Confirmed here too both for Preview.app Open file sluggishness and Finder window population. Thanks Snaggletooh_DE!
    Couple of notes:
    (1) Some folks may be more comfortable using a GUI editor like TextWrangler instead of vi
         a) in the Finder use the GO menu and select Go to Folder
         b) type  '/etc' ( without single quotes ) in the Go to folder dialog box and press the Go button
         c) Right ( Control  ) click the auto_master file in the resulting Finder window. Select "Open with...." and use TextWrangler ( your choice )
         d) Comment out the line by inserting a '#' ( pound sign ) as noted in Snaggletooth_DE's instructions
         e) Save the file  ( probably need to authenticate with your admin password  )
         f) Do the 'sudo automount -vc' per Snaggletooth_DE's instructions. Will need to authenticate again.
    (2) Notice Snaggletooth_DE described this as a "workaround" because it bypasses an Apple bug. Presumably most people have not changed their auto_master file and it worked fine in Mountain Lion and prior. In other words: If you haven't done so already, please continue to submit feedback and bug reports to Apple for this issue.
Kudos to Snaggletooth_DE for figuring out code is trying to look at network ( NFS ) volumes that maybe don't exist.

I am trying to open CR2 files from a Cannon EOS 1DX camera in Photoshop CS6 and I have already updated the Camera Raw Plug in but Photoshop is still giving me the cannot open files dialog box? Help?

Canon 1DX support was added to ACR in version 6.7, 7.1.  An updated CS6 should be at level ACR 8.6.  If your ACR is not at level 8.6 try using CS6 menu Help>Updates.  If that does not install ACR 8.6 try downloading the ACR and DNG 8.6 converter and see if ACR 8.6 will install into your CS6.

    Hi Steadyalberta,
Something might be preventing Photoshop from being able to save your selection on the dialog window properly. You might try right clicking and choose Run as Administrator on the Photoshop icon when launching (Windows) or test if the behavior persists when using a newly created admin user account.
    Hope that helps,
