Upgradting from CR9 (VS2k2) to CRXI R2 (VS2k5)

I'm in the process of upgrading our application from CR9 to CRXI R2. At the past I was able to create an MFC class from the actual ActiveX viewer and thus able to create an instance of the viewer on my dialog. I'm attempting to do the same thing with the new version of the CRViewer ActiveX component but no such luck (no interfaces available in the "Crystal ActiveX Report Viewer Control 11.5<1.0>" control). I then attempted to add the same control Crystal ActiveX Report Viewer Control 11.5<1.0> on a new dialog and when I right-click to create a variable for the viewer control I get the error message "Extender Provider failed to return an Extender for this object."
Hope I made my self clear and thank you in advance for your response.
Sorry I added the question in the wrong forum. Please disregard this posting as I will repost it in the correct forum. Thank you.

Not sure if this will help, but this is an internal tip I've stored since version 10 of CR:
how do you upgrade an RDC cpp app to v10?
1) Open project
2) go to Resource View and open your dialog with the crystal report viewer
3) Delete the old viewer. If your computer only has version 10, this will show up as a blank activeX control, you may have also received an error message when you loaded the project 'activeX control could not be instantiated'
4) Right click on the dialog and select 'insert activeX control'
5) Select the Crystal ActiveX Report Viewer Control 10
6) Resize the control how you would like
7) Right click on the dialog and go to the class wizard.
8) Select the 'member variables' tab.
9) Delete the existing Viewer member variable. It will have the Control ID IDC_CRVIEWER1 or something similar. You can also check the type: CCrystalreportViewer9 or CCrystalreportViewer depending on the previous crystal report version you were using.
10) Select the Control ID for the new viewer and add a member variable for it. It will tell you it needs to generate a c++ wrapper for it. Allow it to do this. You will need to name the variable.
11) If you selected a different variable name than you were using originally, you will need to update the references to the viewer
12) you must import the new craxdrt. IE:
#import "c:\program files\crystal decisions\report designer component\craxdrt9.dll"; no_namespace
becomes
#import "c:\program files\common files\crystal decisions\2.5\bin\craxdrt.dll"; no_namespace
Only thing to watch for on the above; step (12) the file path would be "c:\program files\business objects\common\3.5\bin\craxdrt.dll";. Oh, and of course, line (5) changes to Crystal ActiveX Report Viewer Control 11.5

• Upgradtion from oracle 8.1.5 to oracle 8.1.7 on win2k server

hi,
In order to upgrade my database from oracle 8.1.5 to 8.1.7 on same win2k server I performed the following steps but not sure what exactly happened, whether I have upgraded or not:
1. Installed 8.1.5 in e:\oracle\ora815 and test database on same drive, both working fine means I am able to connect to the instance.
2. Installed 8.1.7 on same server but different ORACLE HOME.
3. Ran upgradation script called u0801050.sql from e:\oracle\ora817\RDBMS\Admin. I connected thru connect internal.
4. After running the script, I de-installed Oracle 8.1.5.
5. Then when I ran svrmgrl, instead of oracle 8.1.7, it is still showing 8.1.5, moreover when I connect to sql it does get connected but shows some messages , which I am not sure what they are.
6. In sqlplus, to see which version of oracle is running, I ran select * from v$version;
but there also it is showing, oracle 8.1.5 only.
What I fail to understand is that even after droping 8.1.5, how am I getting 8.1.5 instead of 8.1.7.
below is what I got when I connected to sqlplus:

Upgrading your system to an 8.1.7 patch set from a version earlier than 8.1.6 (for example 8.0.6 or 8.1.5) is not supported. In this case you must either migrate/upgrade to 8.1.7.0 first and then install the patch set, or upgrade/migrate to 8.1.6 and then follow these intructions.

• Migrating from CR9 to CR11 Release 2 and Printronix Printer problem

Hello,
Currently we are in the midst of migrating all of our report for one of our main application from CR 9 to CR11 R2. The entire migrating, importing, as well as publishing for tall the report runs smoothly. We even can view the report once we called up the report from the repository to be displayed in its infoview. But my question is:
1. Is there any way that the report can auto adjust its size once the report been print out? This is because I believe in CR 9, ( we are using RAS9 btw) once printe out; the report will be automatically adjusted, different than the CR 11 which is WYSWYG. This has caused some of the report layout been out-of-margin as well font sizing are not the same anymore (sometimes big and sometimes too small) and not the same as per old (CR 9 version) report.
With this explanation, it is hope you guys or any of your team can give me some solution or advice on how for me to cater this problem.
2. Another thing that I need to clarify with you guys is does CR 11 being supported by Printronix 5000 series of printer? This is because when the same title report when being generated from CR 9 and CR 11 both will come out in a different output/ result.
CR 9 is a readable but yet in CR 11 which I believe is a WYSWYG Windows Generic Text driver report application wonu2019t be able to print out nicely as some of the font is smudge and not readable. If this is the case, I need a clarification from you guys as whether the printer is being supported or not?

Hi Daniel,
Where are you seeing the differences, in Crystal Reports or through BusinessObjects Enterprise? If it's from BOE, make sure you have the Printronix printer driver installed on the Page Server machine, and that the Page Server service is running under a domain account that has local admin rights.

Hi,
you have to apply the same type of packages as before.
All other are included in ECC, but if you don't use the special services and applications (for example IS Oil or stuff like this), there is no need to apply all these packages.

• Error when referencing an RTF-encrypted Memo Field from ACT! in CRXI r2

Post Author: Scottco1986
CA Forum: Data Connectivity and SQL
I'm creating a report from an ACT! Premium 2007 database, and I seem to have hit a snag. A field in ACT! which is labeled "Regarding & Details" seems to be stored as two separate fields in the database. The first, TBL_HISTORY.REGARDING is easily displayed on the report. The second, however, TBL_HISTORY.DETAILS, is an RTF-encrypted Memo field. "No problem," I thought. I could just specify the text interpretation to interpret the Memo Field as RTF. Unfortunately, as soon as I include the field on the report and preview it, I get an error: "Database Connection Error: 'HY010:[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Function Sequence Error' ". So, I cancel the preview operation, and remove the field. Everything should work now, right? Wrong. I now get an error: "Failed to retrieve data from database," followed by "Failed to retrieve data from database. Details: HY000:[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver]Connection is busy with results for another hstmt". These errors do not stop occuring on preview until I restart Crystal (effectively undoing my unsaved changes). I then thought that maybe this error had something to do with the fact that it is a memo field. So, I wrote a SQL statement to convert the Memo field to a String. This, however, caused the same errors. So, now I'm stuck. How can I include this field without errors?!?

I am not sure how to modify my VBScript code that currently uses the CreateObject command -- Session("oApp") = Server.CreateObject("CrystalRuntime.Application.9") -- to call Crystal. How do I change that code to call Crystal when it is no longer installed directly on the WebServer?

I'm not sure how you can sync the emails you've collected via POP to the IMAP account, or whether it's possible but to setup the new IMAP account should be straightforward. Someone else on here will hopefully be able to advise on the syncing possibilities. I would take the precaution of having a backup of your current 'On My Mac' emails before doing the following.
To create the IMAP account in Mail:
Mail>Preferences>Accounts
Click on the '+' to add an account
Select 'Add other mail account'
Enter your credentials including the word IMAP in the 'Full Name' field (to help differentiate it from your existing POP account with the same email address - you can edit the name later if nec)
Once the detail is filled in hold down the Alt (Option) key before you click on Create and it should change to Continue
The next screen then allows you to specify that the account is IMAP. Input the server addresses and it should be clear from there.

• Error in migr from CR9 to XI3.1 regarding CurrentDate in InfoView

Hi all
I have migrated a lot(1000+) reports and have noticed that there is a difference when viewing the reports, and their instances, in CR2008 and InfoView.
The reports have a Custom function, which refers to CurrentDate.
When looking at instances in InfoView, the CurrentDate takes the actual currentdate (as of this post 2009-10-27). That is a problem because the instances have been refreshed monthly two years back. The amountcolumns are filtered regarding to CurrentDate, which actually CHANGES the historical instances when viewing them. In the old ePortfolio, the instances were static to the currentdate-value, when the report was scheduled.
In the clienttool CR2008, the report and their instances are correct.
Has anyone else handled this situation, or can hint me in some direction?
Regards
Björn

Just wanted to update this thread.
The problem seems to be that when looking at the instances, they are not static. I thought that was the whole point of creating instances, that they were a snapshot at the time they were created.
Is there a way, a switch or whatever, that keeps the generated instances static?
Regards

• Missing export options when exporting Excel from the CRXIR2 CrystalReportVi

Hi!
This is an app ported from CR9 to CRXIR2/Net. I print to screen using the CrystalReportViewer in a Windows form. Export button is enabled, but when I click and export to say "Excel", no further dialog is shown. Ie I never get the one wherev you normally would change options like Column widths and page breaks. What have I done wrong?
Exporting from the Crystal designer app itself works, ie I get the additional dialog.

OK. I had 11.5.12.1838 installed which is R2 Sp6. Or is it 2A? Your blog says "Check the version. It should be 11.5.12.1838."
Edit:
The behaviour is also different. If I run the CR designer and select export, I get a window, much like the one in CR9, ie where I can select destination etc. From the viewer I get a window, much like the ordinary Windows save dialogue and from there I cannot change any options. All I can do is select export type.
To add insult to injury the dialog defaults to *.rpt, even though I have done a:
m_Report->ExportOptions->ExportFormatType = CrystalDecisions::Shared::ExportFormatType::PortableDocFormat;
before passing the report to the viewer.
To elaborate: This is what I would like to happen:
http://www.pedago.fi/dalton/diverse/export1.png
Then:
http://www.pedago.fi/dalton/diverse/export2.png
But what I get is:

Yes, if you select the Buy option on the product page you will see another selection where you identify the product you already own. You will see Acrobat 9 as an option in that list.

• Reports fail when run against a different data source

Hello,
We have a VB.NET 2008 WinForms application running on Microsoft .NET 3.5. We are using Crystal Reports 2008 runtime, service pack 3 -- using the CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms.CrystalReportViewer in the app to view reports. In the GAC on all our client computers, we have versions 12.0.1100.0 and 12.0.2000.0 of CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine, CrystalDecisions.Shared, and CrystalDecisions.Windows.Forms.
Please refer to another one of our posted forum issues, u201CCritical issue since upgrading from CR9 to CR2008u201D, as these issues seem to be related:
Critical issue since upgrading from CR9 to CR2008
We were concerned with report display slow down, and we seemed to have solved this by using the Oracle Server driver (instead of either Microsoft's or Oracle's OLEDB driver). But now we must find a resolution to another piece of the puzzle, which is: why does a report break if one data source is embedded in the .rpt file is different than the one you are trying to run the report against, in the .NET Viewer?
Problem:
If you have a production database name (e.g. "ProdDB") embedded in your .rpt file that you built your report from and try to run that report against a development database (e.g. "DevDB") (OR VICE VERSA -- it is the switch that is the important concept here), the report fails with a list of messages such as this:
Failed to retrieve data from the database
Details: [Database vendor code: 6550 ]
This only seems to happen if the source of the report data (i.e. the underlying query) is an Oracle stored procedure or a Crystal Reports SQL Command -- the reports run fine against all data sources if the source is a table or a view). In trying different things to troubleshoot this, including adding a ReportDocument.VerifyDatabase() call after setting the connection information, the Crystal Reports viewer will spit out other nonsensical errers regarding being unable to find certain fields (e.g. "The field name is not known), or not able to find the table (even though the source data should be coming from an Oracle stored procedure, not a table).
When the reports are run in the Crystal Reports Designer, they run fine no matter what database is being used; but the problem only happens while being run in the .NET viewer. It's almost as if something internally isn't getting fully "set" to the new data source, or something -- we're really grasping at straws here.
For the sake of completeness of information, here is how we're setting the connection information
'-- Set database connection info for the main report
For Each oConnectionInfo In oCrystalReport.DataSourceConnections
oConnectionInfo.SetConnection(gsDBDataSource, "", gsDBUserID, gsDBPassword)
Next oConnectionInfo
'-- Set database connection info for each subreport
For Each oSubreport In oCrystalReport.Subreports
For Each oConnectionInfo In oSubreport.DataSourceConnections
oConnectionInfo.SetConnection(gsDBDataSource, "", gsDBUserID, gsDBPassword)
Next oConnectionInfo
Next oSubreport
... but in troubleshooting, we've even tried an "overkill" approach and added this code as well:
'-- Set database connection info for each table in the main report
For Each oTable In oCrystalReport.Database.Tables
With oTable.LogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo
.ServerName = gsDBDataSource
.UserID = gsDBUserID
.Password = gsDBPassword
For Each oPair In .LogonProperties
If UCase(CStr(oPair.Name)) = "DATA SOURCE" Then
oPair.Value = gsDBDataSource
Exit For
End If
Next oPair
End With
oTable.ApplyLogOnInfo(oTable.LogOnInfo)
Next oTable
'-- Set database connection info for each table in each subreport
For Each oSubreport In oCrystalReport.Subreports
For Each oTable In oSubreport.Database.Tables
With oTable.LogOnInfo.ConnectionInfo
.ServerName = gsDBDataSource
.UserID = gsDBUserID
.Password = gsDBPassword
For Each oPair In .LogonProperties
If UCase(CStr(oPair.Name)) = "DATA SOURCE" Then
oPair.Value = gsDBDataSource
Exit For
End If
Next oPair
End With
oTable.ApplyLogOnInfo(oTable.LogOnInfo)
Next oTable
Next oSubreport
... alas, it makes no difference. If we run the report against a database that is different than the one specified with "Set Datasource Location" in Crystal, it fails with nonsense errors

Thanks for the reply, Ludek. We have made some breakthroughs, uncovered some Crystal bugs and workarounds, and we're probably 90% there I hope.
For your first point, unfortunately the information on the Oracle 6550 error was generic, and not much help in our case. And for your second point, the errors didn't have anything to do with subreports at that time -- the error would manifest itself even in a simple, one-level report.
However, your third point (pointing us to KB 1553921) helped move us forward quite a bit more. For the benefit of all, here is a link to that KB article:
Link: [KB 1553921|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/oss_notes_boj/sdn_oss_boj_bi/sap(bD1lbiZjPTAwMQ==)/bc/bsp/spn/scn_bosap/notes%7B6163636573733d36393736354636443646363436353344333933393338323636393736354637333631373036453646373436353733354636453735364436323635373233443330333033303331333533353333333933323331%7D.do]
We downloaded the tool referenced there, and pointed it at a couple of our reports. The bottom line is that the code it generated uses a completely new area of the Crystal Reports .NET API which we had not used before -- in the CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer namespace. Using code based on what that RasConnectionInfo tool generated, we were able gain greater visibility into some of the objects in the API and to uncover what I think qualifies as a genuine bug in Crystal Reports.
The CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.DataDefModel.ISCRTable class exposes a property called QualifiedName, something that isn't exposed by the more commonly-used CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.Table class. When changing the data source with our old code referenced above (CrystalDecisions.Shared.ConnectionInfo.SetConnection), I saw that Crystal would actually change the Table.QualifiedName from something like "SCHEMAOWNER.PACKAGENAME.PROCNAME" to just "PROCNAME" (essentially stripping off the schema and package name). Bad, Crystal... VERY BAD! IMHO, Crystal potentially deserves to be swatted on the a** with the proverbial rolled-up newspaper.
I believe this explains why we were also able to generate errors indicating that field names or tables were not found -- because Crystal had gone and changed the QualifiedName to remove some key info identifying the database object! So, knowing this and using the code generated by the RasConnectionInfo tool, we were able to work around this bug with code that worked for most of our reports ("most" is the key word here -- more on that in a bit).
So, first of all, I'll post our new code. Here is the main area where we loop through all of the tables in the report and subreports:
'-- Replace each table in the main report with new connection info
For Each oTable In oCrystalReport.ReportClientDocument.DatabaseController.Database.Tables
oNewTable = oTable.Clone()
oNewTable.ConnectionInfo = GetNewConnectionInfo(oTable)
oCrystalReport.ReportClientDocument.DatabaseController.SetTableLocation(oTable, oNewTable)
Next oTable
'-- Replace each table in any subreports with new connection info
For iLoop = 0 To oCrystalReport.Subreports.Count - 1
sSubreportName = oCrystalReport.Subreports(iLoop).Name
For Each oTable In oCrystalReport.ReportClientDocument.SubreportController.GetSubreportDatabase(sSubreportName).Tables
oNewTable = oTable.Clone()
oNewTable.ConnectionInfo = GetNewConnectionInfo(oTable)
oCrystalReport.ReportClientDocument.SubreportController.SetTableLocation(sSubreportName, oTable, oNewTable)
Next oTable
Next iLoop
'-- Call VerifyDatabase() to ensure that the tables update properly
oCrystalReport.VerifyDatabase()

• Error in crystal report XI release 2 in Vista OS

Hi All,
I am a Newbie.......
I have written an application where it displays the report.
I have two test machines, "Machine 1" in which crystal reports XI release 2 is installed and "Machine 2" where it is not installed.
Now when I run the application in the machine where CR11 is installed,it runs perfectly fine.(It has XP Operating System)
Inorder to make the application run on machine 2 where CR11 is not installed.(It has Vista Operating System) what should i do. (I don't want to install CR11 there.)
Now in order to run in the Vista machine, I need to register the DLL's which are made used to run and display the report as in Machine 1.
I got these DLL's from machine 1 where XP is installed which i felt are necessary to display the report.....correct me if I am missing something.
craxdrt.dllcrdb_ado.dllcrqe.dllcrtslv.dllcrviewer.dllcrxf_rtf.dllExportModeller.dllquerybuilder.dllu2ddisk.dllu2ftext.dllufmanager.dll
Now how should i register these.....i tries Regsvr32.exe to register, but was able to register only few and rest were displaying an error as
"LoadLibrary failed " or "Entrypoint not found".
I think there might be some dependencies for the DLL's mentioned above.
I got the above mentioned list of DLL's from CR9 since these DLL's were made used in CR9 with some different name, when i ran the application in Vista machine with these DLL's I was able to run without any problems.
Now my question is:
Are these the only DLL's which are made used to display the report in Machine 2 where Vista is installed and if not what are the other dll's.
And where shoud these be residing (Is it in system32 folder or ..\Program Files\Common Files\..... ?) and how should I register these DLL's ? (i.e the order of registering them.)
Any sugesstion would greatly be accepted. Kindly help me.

Try psoting technical information.
You wrote an application, but you won't bother to say what language/environment??? Your first application, or first time you've asked for technical support?
And what edition of CR XI do you have, and is it CR XI SR2?
The Developer edition is required for what you are asking, and you can check the help file within for the file dependencies.
Might be a compatability issue, I think SR2 is required.

• How can I set jbo.sql92.LockTrailer system property in BC4J?

We are using BC4J in 'SQL92' SQLBuilder mode and using MySQL database. row.lock() is not really locking the row. It seems, we need to set jbo.sql92.LockTrailer to correct value so that it will issue correct SQL statement for locking the row. How can I set this system property?

Apparently this has something to do with the content of the TextObject. I added a new TextObject called "TestText" and put "this is test text" into it. I am able to set the value on that TextObject with no issues. But if the TextObject contains any formulas (Text4 in the sample below) the set throws an error, even if I try to set the Text to "" .
foreach (ReportObject ro in letter.ReportDefinition.ReportObjects)
if (ro.Name == "TestText" || ro.Name == "Text4")
TextObject textObj = (ro as TextObject);
string oldText = textObj.Text;
// string oldText = "";
textObj.Text = oldText ;
These reports are imported from CR9.2, does that have anything to do with it?
