Printing reports on double-sided pages

Is there a way in Oracle reports to force each record to print on an even number of pages? This is for double-sided printing. Thanks for any help or advice.

I found this on one of the forums, similar to your suggestion:
"I am printing statements on a double-sided stationary capable printer. To ensure that each new statement starts on a new physical piece of paper, I need to add a blank page if the previous statement had an odd number of page sides. How can I do this?
Place an invisible boilerplate line before the repeating frame that contains your data. Give it a Page Break before and anchor it to the repeating frame. Then write a format trigger that only prints the boilerplate object (and thus the page break) if it is an odd page number. "
I've tried this but it isn't working for me. I'm using your logic for printing the page:
v_page number;
begin
     srw.get_page_num(v_page);
if mod(v_page,2)=0
then
return (FALSE); --if an even page don't print
else
return (TRUE); --if an odd page do print
end if;
end;
Any idea why it's not working?

  • OT - Printing Double Sided Pages - visibility bleed through

    hi all,
    curious about OT issue of - printing double sided pages - visibility bleed through. with normal copy paper (20LB) if you print on both sides - you can see the print from the other side show through - not good.
    Q: what kind of paper do you need to NOT see the print on the opposite side show through

    I'd think 20 lb paper is pretty thin; I'd try 24 lb and, although this is a guess on my part, the way your printer handles the ink could also have something to do with it?

  • Output.Print printing all PDFs double-sided

    Hello
    According to the following article it is possible to configure a PDF to print single or double sided in the Adobe LiveCycle Designer:
    http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/9.0/designerHelp/index.htm?content=000089.html#15813 85
    I follow these exact steps and configure the PDF Template "Printing" setting at the (Master Pages) hierarchy to "Print on Front Side Only" and then print the PDF by using the LiveCycle Output ES service. The PDF continuously prints double-sided regardless of the value I set. Interestingly enough the printer properties are configured to print single sided on the OS and if I print the PDF using Adobe Reader it prints single-sided. This leads me to believe that the Output service is specifically telling the printer "print me double-sided".
    Any help would be appreciated.
    I'm running Adobe LiveCycle ES version 8.0.1

    Thank you for the reference. It was included in the LiveCycle install I just had to move over a copy to the JBoss directory that the article specified. It is an easier way of testing I found that if I set the output file type to PDF the document prints double-sided but if I change the output file type to PCL or PostScript it prints single-sided. Unfortunately we currently generate all our documents as a PDF output and it seems like we would have to make a subsequent call to the Output service for every document we generate just to have a PostScript output. I'm sure it goes without saying this is not very efficient.
    Thanks again for the reference it did help solidify my findings that the issue does lie with the Output service and how it handles the PDF file type. I have a ticket open with Adobe Support if they get back to me with a helpful response I will post it to this thread. I can't possibly be the only one experiencing this issue.

  • Printing PDF files double-sided

    Using an HP Photosmart Plus B210a - how do I print  PDF files double-sided.  I can print Word documents etc. this way but do not seem to have the option when opening a PDF file.
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
    You might experiment with a page or two first.
    1.Choose File > Print.
    2.From the Subset pop-up menu in the Print Range area, select Even Pages Only.
    3.Click OK or Print.
    4.If the total number of pages is odd, add a blank sheet so the final odd page has a sheet to print on.
    5.Put the stack of printed paper back into the supply (source) paper tray so that the unprinted sides print. Point the top of the pages toward the printer. Make sure that the edges of the paper stack are square.
    6.Choose File > Print and select Odd Pages Only from the Subset menu.
    7.Select the Reverse Pages option. In this scenario, the Reverse pages option ensures that the page sequence is correct.
    8.Click OK or Print.

    Jia Shun,
    I had the same issue for printing A/R Invoices - I created a Crystal Report based on a SQL View, works fine with A/R Invoice document, but the Draft Invoice printing has 3 pages: 1st page blank, 2nd page with watermark "DRAFT", 3rd page my Crystal Report layout without any data. When printing normally it is only 1 page.
    Here is what I did as a work around:
    Create two SQL Views, one select from OINV (joining INV1 and other tables needed), the other select from ODRF (joining DRF1 and other tables needed), for the draft printing.
    Create two identicle Crystal Reports, only difference are: datasource location (from different views), the "draft" crystal report has a watermark section.
    Go to Administration>System Initialization>Print Preferences and uncheck "Print draft watermark..."
    Import both crystal reports. Invoice can be printed normally. But the Draft Invoice has more steps: Open Draft document report, change settings so it shows the DocEntry in the Draft Table. Select and open the desired document, hit Print Preview, and enter the DocEntry, it displays the layout with data and "DRAFT" watermark.
    This is a workaround. I don't like it because it is not scalable - too much workload if you want to print 100 invoices.
    Hopefully someone will provide a better solution.

  • Acrobat print driver for double-sided option?

    i pretty much feel like i am brain dead or something since moving back to mac OS when it comes to printing - and that is saying something considering i moved from windows.
    in any event, despite the fact i have had a ton of help in trying to figure this out i still cannot figure out how to get an option to print double-sided on my HP officejet pro. every time i get in one of these to print to a second paper tray or to create black and white only prints or two to a page or whatever i feel like i am in some hall of mirrors created by mc escher. i /have/ gone in and set presets on the mac pro for 2 to a page through 16 to a page for black and white and for color prints and i have gone ahead and done the same for my laptop as well (sigh) - however something as simple as printing to a second tray for 11 x 17 or 12 x 18 paper on the epson (i move the trays /manually/ from to the first slot to get this to work) or printing 2 sided out of acrobat (i still can't figure this out) is mind bogglignglingling.
    can anyone help me figure this out? i go rooting around around in here and then just flat out give up.
    am i printing out of a mac user interface and i need to download an acrobat driver or something? someone helped me out on this earlier and i am trying to get it all finalized as best i can...
    THANKS

    hi eric. big thanks.
    i am attaching the screenshot showing the two-sided HP option (in this case it is buried under "Driver").
    i don't know but for the record - i am in 2014 and every email i get says "think of the environment before you print" and HP and Mac OS and Adobe can't get it together enough to let me /easily/ print to two sided paper???? am i missing something or is burying this setting in Settings > Select Your Printer > Driver a total wormhole and - well, why after checking this am i still at a loss to print to two sided paper out of Acrobat? i have an 104 page pdf document sitting here i can't print.
    i mean, i think eric was kind enough to point this setting out to me before (and lord knows mother earth dearly hopes that the checkmark is the default setting...) but why with these three powerhouses am i still at a loss to get to two-sided out of acrobat?
    at least Preview buries other things and leaves this one option staring me in the face each time i print...

  • SAP Printer Set to Double Sided on the printer itself

    Hi,
    I need your expertise concerning a printing Scenario. The Scenario is that the physical printer is set to print double sided on the printer itself i.e. a duplex tray was recently installed. Hence all documents from Microsoft and SAP prints double sided.
    We need to print certain document on one side on the SAP.
    Transaction SPAD have an option for changing The 'Print Mode' to "S SIMPLEX: Print on one side" but this does not work.
    Does anyone have an Idea how this can be achieved without changing the physical printer to print using single sided.
    Thanks
    NF

    Hi NF,
    I hope you have Installed and configured the same Printer on the Server or Workstation, where you are currently working on.
    Then go to the OS i.e., Windows Level:
    Start> Settings>Control Panel--> Click on Printers and Faxes
    Then check the Printer, which has been configured and Right Click On Properties,
    and Click on Printing Preferences and Click on Finishing Tab.
    Then you can able to see..the Document options, there you need to Deselect the Option of "Printing on Both Sides" .
    Then fire the Print From the SAP...Now you can observe that you are printing Single sidedly without any issues.
    Check this out...and let me know the response.
    I am sure it will solve your issue.
    Cheers!!

  • Incorrect printing of double sided pages on Officejet Pro 8600

    When I print a document (generally from MS Word 2010) and ask it to be printed on both sides, the HP8600 gets it wrong!
    (I had the same problem with my previous Officejet 8500).  It prints page 1 on the first page BUT it prints page 2 on the next piece of paper on the same facing side as for page 1.  So the back of page 1 is blank!!  This is quite frustrating as I often want to print a long document on both sides of the paper and get the pages correct! So all the ODD pages are on the facing side and all the EVEN pages on the rear.  The 8600 doesn't do this, nor did the 8500.  I think when I print it using the Adobe reader and PDF documents it gets it correct.  So it may be an inter action between Word, and the HP 8600 driver etc...  Any ideas to correct this.  I have only had the printer just over 4 months.

    I used a Word document that was 3 pages long and printed it from MS Word 2010 and it printed incorrectly (page 1 on sheet 1 side 1, page 2 on sheet 2 side 1, page 3 on sheet 2 side 2).  Then I saved it in PDF and printed from Adobe Reader and it printed correctly.  But I noticed that Word printed it in reverse order whereas Adobe printed in normal order starting from Page 1.  So I looked in Options/Advanced/Printing in Word 2010 and there was a box for Print pages in reverse Order that was ticked.  So I un-ticked this Print pages in reverse order and re-printed from Word and lo and behold it printed it correctly!  It looks to me as if Word has a 'bug' (sorry MS undesired feature) that when printing in reverse order sometimes gets the pages incorrect.  It is useful when printing long documents to print them in reverse order as they are in the correct order with page 1 on top.  But eh oh I will leave this off and see whether the problem disappears.  But many thanks for your interaction and getting me to investigate.  'Praise the Lord' for forums.

  • Printing report on a single page

    Hi All,
    We have a report for which RTF is of two page and when we view the report it gives us output with number of pages as two.Now when we want to give a 'print' for this report , we want the output to come on a single page.
    Can this be done? If yes, what is the cahnge we require to make.
    Thanks.

    Hi ,
    The number of rows will be fixed on the page.It provides some total on the report(so number of rows wil remain same).
    If i can keep my RTF as a single page, wud it ensure print out will be just a single page.
    Thanks!

  • Smartform Printing Problem for double sided printing

    Hi Techies,
    I have created a smartform for invoice printing, using double side printing.
    The requirement is that in the front page, page number has to be printed and at the back side static text is to be printed. So if my line items exceed to two pages. Than in printing, it is getting priinted as "Page 1 of 4" for the 1st invoice items page and "Page 3 of 4" for the second items page. But the client is asking it to be printed as "Page 1 of 2" & "Page 2 of 2" respectively.
    Currently I am using Page&SFSY-PAGE& of &SFSY-FORMPAGES&.
    Can anyone guide me how to achieve this requirement.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Vinit.

    Hi vinit,
    better u declare your own variable . and check with sfsy , the footer window must be final window
    data : lv_page type sfsy-page,
             lv_tot_page type sfsy-page.
    if sfsy-formpages > 2.
    lv_tot_page = sfsy-page / 2.
    if sfsy-page >2
    lv_page = sfsy-page - 1.
    else.
    lv_page = sfsy-page.
    endif.

    lv_page = sfsy-page.

  • Macbook won't print grayscale or doubled-sided to HP printer

    I'm printing to an HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus, and in the dialogue box I mark long-edge binding under two-sided printing, and grayscale as an "other profile" of colorsync. But my documents only print in color and single-sided. I also notice that after I mark one of those options and then the other, when I go back to the first before printing, it has been reset to default. Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    Earlier, it wasn't finding the printer at all when I tried to print (I had installed the printer and it said it was printing to it, but in the printer box it just said "finding printer..." forever), so I uninstalled and reinstalled the printer. Then I was able to print and just had this new problem. You think reinstalling again would help?

  • Printing double sided odd number of pages

    I have Adobe Reader 10.0.2 instalied on my iMac running Mac OS 10.6.7 with a Canon Pixma iP4200 printer. Since installing this version of Reader I have come across a curious problem with printing PDF files double sided with an odd number of pages.
    For example, a three page PDF file printed double sided. The first page prints first, then pages 2 and 3 print double sided. This leaves a blank page on the reverse side of page 1 which is INCORRECT and has me puzzled. Normal double sided printing should have pages 1 and 2 back to back and page 3 with a blank page on the reverse.
    All my other software on my iMac prints an odd numbered file double sided correctly. It is only Reader 10.0.2 that has this problem and would appreciate a solution.
    Have I found a bug in the Reader software?.
    Regards
    Peter AKA DaftBrush

    Hello
    I specially created a PDF of three pages with no page breaks or section breaks. The problem still persists no matter what way I set the printing order of the pages, that is automatic, normal or reverse when double sided printing. The same file in MS Word format prints perfectly.
    My only solution at the moment is to add a blank page at the end of a PDF document that has an odd number of pages.
    I would like to know if I have discovered a bug in Adobe Reader and is there a fix that I can download to solve the problem.
    Regards
    Peter

  • HP Deskjet 2540 Not Printing Double Sided Correctly

    I'm hoping someone can help me!
    I just bought a brand new HP Deskjet 2540 as my old HP Printer got thrown in the trash for blinking it's lights at me too much....
    So this new one has been working fine for normal printing, but when I try to print double sided, I follow the instructions and manually move the pages back in the tray as indicated, but it keeps skipping a page. So it prints the first side of the first page great, then it leaves the 2nd side of the first page blank, and then the rest of the pages are perfect (printed on both sides in the right order). This has happened exactly the same numerous times now.
    Please help!

    Hi @katie20 , welcome to the community
    I read about the printing double sided troubles you are having with your Deskjet 2540 on Windows 7. To me, it seems like there could be a driver problem or a software problem with the program you're printing from. Here are some steps for you to do to get started.
    1. Run the Print and Scan Doctor. This diagnostic tool will check for any conflicts that could be causing the issue. The tool will show you a report at the end. Please send me a screen shot of the results or write me back with the details.
    2. Print double sided pages from a different program, let me know the outcome and which programs you have tested.
    Also let me know how you have the printer connected (USB, Wireless, Ethernet)
