Printing Spreadsheets

In Numbers 09 I had one very long but simple spreadsheet that became very slow to function. Upon the advice of Yvan Koenig I divided it into two s/s's with about the same amount of entries. It is very simple s/s, using column a for words and column b for definitions. Although they both look fine, the first one prints correctly, the second one does not.
To print the one that prints correctly I go to the bottom left and click the small icon to the right of the "100%" and portrait view and adjust the content scale to 78% {to make it properly fit the page}. I click print and all works well. At the top left it says "sheet 1", "34 pages" and beneath it, "table 1"
After I open the second s/s and click the icon to the right of the "100%" and portrait view something different happens. On the left side of the sheet is column a {with the words beneath it} and to the right and separated is column b {with the definitions beneath it}. On the upper top left it reads "sheet 1', "74 pages" and "table 2". When I activate the printer, it begins by incorrectly printing only column b, not correctly by printing column a and column b on the same page. I note that if I reduce the content scale to 60% it will print both columns on the same page, but the resultant text is too small.
Is there a simple fix to this that can be explained to me in simple language? Thanks again.

"On the s/s (Table) that does not work properly, it shows position  at 0 inches. width is 11.51 inches..."
The default margin settings on US Letter, portrait orientation Numbers document are 0.75 inches left and right, leaving 7.00 inches of printable space between the margins.
7.00 is 60.82% of the 11.51 inch width of your table, which would explain why it must be reduced to 60% of it's original size before it fits onto a single page width. Until it is made that small, both columns will not fit onto the single page, so Numbers moves the 'extra' column onto a second page.
With the page orientation set to Landscape, the left and right margins leave 9.50 inches of printing width, still not enough to fit the full width of the table onto a single page. But  9.50 is 82.54% of 11.51, which is much closer to the 78% you mention in your initial post.
Perhaps the difference between the two is that you have them on different sheets, and have chosen Landscape orientation for the first and Portrait orientation for the second.

  • Printer "Out of Memory". Can not print spreadsheets

Up to the last few months I had no problem printing everything including spreadsheets.  Now I get the following when I bring up a Microsoft  spreadsheet  and try to print it "Out of Memory" "Save or close any open files or applications"   I can print all other files including pictures, Word  test, emails, etc.
Bult I have no open files or applications.
Printer: HP Photosmart C4780, Windows XP, Compaq/HP computer.
No changes to my software recently except adding RosettaStone language CDs.
    Suggetions?
    Thanks,
    Clay

I'm not printing spreadsheets -I'm trying to print Quark or AdobePDF files on a Business Inkjet 2800dtn (large tabloid size) - I've had trouble w/this printer before but not this "OUT OF MEMORY" problem.
I can print Notepad files...but it will not print other files that it printed fine before. I even got one PDF out of this machine yesterday before it went bonkers. It keeps saying "file won't print" & then "Printer error- turn off power then on" = I must have done it 100 times. No luck at all.
I KNOW there is a way to use "computer memory" to increase the capacity of this machine without buying additional printer memory, but I'm not sure how to do it. Does anyone know? Will anyone tell? Obviously, mine was working BEFORE. Another message came up in the Configuration page that I WAS able to print, saying it had a "Firmware error" - HP hasn't updated this firmware as far as I can see, since 2005. They haven't updated ANYTHING on this POS machine, to be blunt about it.
    (inHP's favor, I love,love, love my 2340duplex Laserjet - it's a wonderous miracle for me).
Anyone know how to connect the computer memory to the printer - or anything about Firmware Updates (or should I reinstall the software?)

  • Printing Spreadsheet

Would someone please tell me how I can print the grid lines and row numbers in a simple spreadsheet?
I'm totally new to Numbers and a bit lost.
    Thanks.

OK. I'm having real difficulty with this spreadsheet.
How do you stop the first column repeating on every page?
Thanks to anyone who can help, but this thing [numbers] is hardly intuitive. Setting up the spreadsheet is difficult enough but trying to design a printed form is a nightmare.
Where can I go to get help as the print help box just doesn't explain what I need to know.
For some reason I am also getting a double blue line appearing along a row or round a cell. Its appearance and disappearance appears to be entirely random. Where has it come from, how do I get rid of, what's it for?
I'm going to do some gardening now just to calm down, when I get back maybe I'll just order Excel for Mac!

  • Print spreadsheet with title.

Is there any way to print a multi-page spreadsheet with a Title on the first printed page only?

You can put a Text Box at the top of your Sheet with a title in it, or you can add a additional Header row to the table at the top of your Sheet and put a title there.

  • Printing spreadsheet withOUT row/col headings.

Ok, so every time I need to print I have to turn off the row/col headings if I don't want them to print. Well. . . I NEVER want them to print. Is there no setting that can be tweaked to make that the default? I keep looking and hoping. Searched archives and don't find it.
    Suggestions?
    Thanks.

    Hi Ronald,
The only other way I'm aware of are to do as you've done in the Print dialogue is to choose Display... in the Options menu and uncheck the boxes beside Cell Grid, Row Headings and Column Headings.
The headings and grid will be moved from the screen display as well as from the printed output. This change remains in effect until you return to the menu item and reverse it.

  • Microsoft Excel Mac Issues - Print Format

I have Microsoft Office Mac 2008 and just purchased Microsoft Office Mac2011.
There is a formatting issue with printing spreadsheets as Excel defaults to Portrait and 100% Scaling. I save the Excel worksheets formatted as Landscape and 60% Scaling in order to fit each worksheet on one page. However, when I then reopen a spreadsheet and attempt to print, Excel frequently defaults to Portrait and 100% scale, so the worksheet may then take four pages to print.
This is very frustrating and unprofessional when I send the spreadsheet to a third party. It appears as if I don't know how to format the Print function.
I spent more than an hour with Mac technical support, but they could not resolve the issue. We uninstalled Office, including all of the Libraries, several times, but the problem persists.
I hoped that Microsoft Office Mac 2011 would resolve the issue, but it is still a problem.
Has anyone else encountered this problem? Does anyone have a solution?
    Thank you very much.

  • HT201387 IOS8.2 update on my iPad2 has really moved my Canon air printer connection so I cannot print from my iPad although I can still print from my iPhone 4S. How do I get my iPad2 to recognise my printer as before?

IOS8.2 update on my iPad2 has given message of no air printers recognised when trying to print spreadsheet from Numbers etc. My iPhone4S has update IOS8.2 and can print as before. How do I rectify air printing on my iPad2 has pse?

Thanks to searching the community I have got a result. Power off and reboot (press front home button together with top right button) = air print is now recognising my Canon air printer. This reboot is useful for clearing similar types of problems.

  • How do I organize the calendars for printing?

I would like to print this calendar with all the red items first and then the blue items next. How do I do it? It appears this way on the app, but in the print dialog it is mixed up. See picture:
    Thanks

I've just been playing with pagination myself after seeing a comment on a popular forum.
It seems that with Numbers 3, Apple has torn the guts out of printing options in Numbers. As the commenter on the other forum said,
The way things used to work is that you knew precisely where the pages would break so you could move your content to land precisely where you wanted it to land on a page. Every element could be centered on a page or justified to the top or bottom. Multi-page documents could be precisely /crafted/.
Now, one creates a freeform page and then goes into CMD-P to willy-nilly scale it. What is your font size? Are your elements still centered? For example, say I want a documented crafted that is exactly two pages wide and three tall. Good luck hitting those five page boundaries perfectly without lots of trial and error and a suboptimal final result.
I might have forgiven them if they allowed one to move elements on the print preview screen but they do not.
Numbers is now a lobotomized toy that abandoned all of its differentiating features.
I have to agree that Numbers 3 seems to have lost more than its gained with this "upgrade", certainly as far as printing goes.
I've found I can cut-and-paste sections of a spreadsheet over to a Pages document, but it's not as practical as simply formatting in Numbers and then printing. There is also no way to simply drag and drop a spreadsheet or sections of a spreadsheet into Pages from either a saved file or from Numbers itself.
I've sent one bit of feedback to Apple and I daresay that a lot of people will be posting unhappy feedback about this sudden lack of thought given to those who still need to print spreadsheets.

  • I hate transparent spreadsheets.

Numbers 3.5.2 has (on my computer) transparent spreadsheets. You can see the data in the cells of spreadsheets beneath the one you are looking at if you have them overlapping. How do I make the spreadsheets behave like a piece of paper? I do not want to look through any of the spreadsheets. This is like printing spreadsheets on transparency plastic rather than paper.

  • Information not printing

No problems before but have just tried printing spreadsheets that I'd updated and only the cell formatting is printing.  No information within the cells is printing??

Open your PLD. Create a Database field and Select that database field, Alt+Click the Table in Properties Field Window.
    TIN No.
    Select Table -> INV12 - Tax Extension.
Select Column -> Tax id 11.
    CST No.
    Select Table -> INV12 - Tax Extension.
Select Column -> Tax id 1.
but ECC No. can not able to retrive in PLD so Create 1 UDF and assign FMS in UDF.
Create UDF(ECC No.) and assign this FMS Query.
    SELECT  Max(T0.[ECCNo]) FROM CRD7 T0  INNER JOIN OCRD T1 ON T0.CardCode = T1.CardCode WHERE T1.[CardCode] =$[OINV.Cardcode]
Assign this FMS Query in UDF(ECC No.)
Auto Refresh of Card Code and Check the Display Saved Values

  • Got Excel Printing to Work Flawlessly (so far)

Just FYI as I, like many others, had problems printing spreadsheets in Excel 2008. I downloaded the open source Footmatic/hpijs drivers for Leopard and now all my problems have been fixed. I have a HP Laserjet 1200 but the package has drivers for thousands of printers. Hopefully other problems won't come up.

It shouldn't print each page as a separate job and
each tab has a different name, so, even if it did, it
ought to give the printouts the name of the tabs.
It doesn't print each page as a separate job unless the orientation is different - that's the bug. And the name of the job is taken from the name of the window, not the name of the tabs. That's how every application works, which, I think, is why Excel allows the specific selection or the active sheets to be printed.
Still, that does sound like a plausible explanation.
However, even if presented with multiple prints with
the same name, the spooler should print each one!
The spooler does print each one - you can watch the spooler process the multiple jobs. I think, though, that they are being overwritten since all the jobs have the name of the window as the job title. And since this happens after the Save Dialog is presented, there's really nothing the application can do. To Excel, it's one job, the multiple orientations don't matter; it's just that Apple doesn't handle it correctly.
As a workaround, you can print the selections one at a time and give them unique names and then rejoin them in one PDF file.

  • Can Default Zoom be set to 250% ?

I have Pages 09. my monitor is 1680x1050 so I would really like my default zoom in Pages set at 250%. Is there a way to set the default to this? 200 is too small and 300 is too big.
I'm a new mac user. I don't know anything about scripts or terminal, or even how to get to those things, so if your answer includes these, please so step by step...thanks!

  • I am new to Numbers and can not figure out how to only print a section of my rather large spreadsheet.  How do I only print a specific page?

How do you print only a page or section of a spreadsheet in Numbers?

    Hi Kirsten,
Copy the section you want to print, Insert a new Sheet into your document, Paste the copied contents into the Table that comes with that sheet. Print that sheet.
If this will be a regular need, you might consider building a breakout table to contain the data you'll print. A search for "breakout" should bring up some examples (or check some of the "More Like This" linke to the right.
Numbers doesn't support a means of printing a selected section of a document, probably because the design model is of a document containing many small specific purpose tables, rather than the single monolithic table that is the model in other spreadsheet applications.

    Hi mafiose15,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Restoring your iPod to factory settings is the best way to try and get it back to working order. You can use the instructions below to restore it:
    How to restore iPod
Verify that you have an active Internet connection, because you may need to download new versions of the iTunes and iPod Software.
Download and install the latest version of iTunes if necessary.
Open iTunes. Connect your iPod to your computer using the USB or FireWire cable that came with your iPod.
After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.
Select your iPod in the Source panel. You will see information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes window.
    Click Restore.
If you are using a Mac, you will be asked to enter an administrator’s name and password.
A progress bar will appear on the computer screen, indicating that stage one of the restore process has begun. When this stage is done, iTunes will present one of two messages with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models).
Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models).
During stage two of the restore process, the iPod displays an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remain connected to the computer or iPod power adapter during this stage.
Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see, because the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
After stage two of the restore process is complete, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear. It will ask you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences, as it did when you connected your iPod for the first time.
You can find the instructions in this article:

  • How can I print contiguous rows on a Numbers spreadsheet without having to print the whole spreadsheet page?

I frequently have a need to print a portion of a spreadsheet for a presentation, but find that I have to print the whole spreadsheet page to obtain the information I want.  When I was using Microsoft Excel I could highlight a section of a spreadsheet and print only the highlighted rows.  Is there some way that I can do this in Numbers?  Help will be appreciated.

Numbers differs significantly from Excel in the print paradigm.  If you enable Print View using the menu item "View > Show Print View", you will see exactly how each page will print.
    A Numbers document contains Sheet.
Sheets contains a canvas, on which you place tables, graphics, text, and media.  The canvas is continuous and is divided into pages at print time.
If you want to print just a portion of a table, select the area, copy, the open the Application Preview, select the menu item "File > New From Clipboard"
    Then print
