Printing, Xerox Phaser 3155 on Mac Pro (OSX 10.8.3) and LAN, will not from iMac (OSX 10.6.8) or MacBookAir (OSX 10.7.5) but will print from PC LapTop on Bonjour (Win 7)

HELP Please
When sending print request from iMac or MacBook Air Print Queue Initial displays are printer ready followed by:
* looking for printer
* connecgting to printer
* job printing (printers motor runs) bu no print-out
* job stopped on server
* no pages found comes up somtimes
these messages may be slightly different after "Hold" or "Pause Printer" but print never works.
have already deleted printer from "print & Scan" panel even reset print system and reinstalled printer
-note the printer is seen by the "Print & Scan" panel on using add printer (+ sign)
Before installing Mountain Lion there were no problems printing from iMac or MacBookAir.
Why would it work requesting prints thru LapTop PC on Win 7 but not from Mountain Lion? Apple please!

Answer to self!
Xerox has just released an Update "Phaser_3140-3155_OS_10-8_print_Instaler_v5.0.0" this has resolved all my problems and may be usefull for some other people. Go to Website "http://www.support.xerox.com/support/phaser-3140" for download.

  • Mac pro cinema display cuts out and can't access Mac with screen sharing

    Hi
A weird thing has started happening to my Mac Pro today. After using it for a few minutes the cinema display it is attached to on the Mac Pro just goes black. The Mac Pro is clearly still on - the light is on and i can hear the fans. The Mac Pro shows up on my local network and i can connect to it and access files from my Macbook, but screen sharing doesn't work (i just get the message 'contacting mac pro' and nothing else) and i can't connect to shared iTunes library either, which makes me think it is not just a display issue. I cannot wake the computer with the mouse or keyboard, which makes me think it isn't just a sleep issue. All i can do is physically turn the Mac Pro off, start it up and it will start up successfully and then work for a few more minutes before i get the same problem. I have reset the PRAM and SMC and still have the same problems. Can anyone suggest anything else i can try?
I should mention that i have another problem with the Mac Pro in that it has been spontaneously waking up from sleep and starting up from shutdown, and i still haven't resolved this. I don't know if it is connected to the above issue.
    thanks
    nick

I have experienced almost the exact same thing with my new 2008 Mac Pro and my 30" Apple display. It has happened to me twice in the last few weeks. The first time I chalked it up to a fluke, but now that it's happened again I searched the forums. In both cases I've had music playing in iTunes which continues playing, goes on to the next track, and so on. So the machine has not crashed in full. I too can connect to the files via another computer on the network, but cannot share the screen.
I have not had the sleep issues you have had.
I'll look at the link you provided in your next post to see where that gets me, but I wanted to let you know you were not alone on this one.

  • Applications launching extremely slowly - Mac Pro, OSX 10.6.8

    Hi,
I have tried everything I can think of but perhaps some of the experienced people on this forum have seen this before. I have a Mac Pro about a year old and everything was running fine until about 2 weeks ago. The applications take extremely long to start up and settle down but eventually they do. Entourage, for example, takes 10 minutes or longer. The computer boots normally though.
Once everything has settled down they seem to run just fine but starting any new application will take a very long time. The curious thing is that after boot the first couple of applications seems to load up a usual but after that things slow down. I can't detect anything unusual in the activity monitor and the affected apps show up as "not responding" but if you wait long enough that notification goes away and they seem to work fine.
I have firewire connected to a Protools Digi 002 rack and Ethernet connected to a Time Capsule, USB connections are a 24" Cinema display and mouse.
The machine is an 8 Core 2.4 Ghz, 6 GB RAM (4.36 GB free ), 1TB HD (700 GB Free)
This is what I have done to attempt a fix:
Restore from a Time Machine backup from several days prior to the start of the incident (1 week ago).
    Re-install OSX 10.6.8 combo update
Delete and restore various applications (like MS Office 2008).
    PRAM/SMC reset
Techtool Pro complete test suite scan including disk surface scan, directory rebuild and optimization
    Flush the Cache
    Rebuild Permissions (several times)
So far nothing has solved the issue. My next step was to try here and then do a complete re-install from the ground up (erase HD, install OSX, install applications). I didn't want to take that step unless there was no other alternative because it is a pain.
Also it does not answer the question of "what is wrong" so I can avoid it again so if anyone has any clues/suggestions/sage advice I would greatly appreciate it.
    Cheers,
    JdanS

    Hi Linc,
Thanks for the suggestion. I forgot to add that to my bullet point list (I tried it already) but to be thorough I followed the steps again.
The results are the same but while I was waiting for Entourage to load (23 minutes this time btw) I ran a sample on the process under the activity monitor.
Not sure if this adds any value but here is the output:
Sampling process 164 for 3 seconds with 1 millisecond of run time between samples
    Sampling completed, processing symbols...
Analysis of sampling Microsoft Entourage (pid 164) every 1 millisecond

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive & clear caches.)
Try trashing them in Safe Mode, reply if that doesn't help.

  • Ipad mini not recognised by Mac Pro (OSX 10.6.4)

I have an ipad mini (6.1.3) I have connected it to my Mac Pro (OSX 10.6.4) via the thunderbolt/USB lead supplied. The device is not recognised in the finder or in itunes, though it does charge via this port. Is this an issue with my OS version? My itunes version? Is there a simple fix?

An iPad isn't designed to mount as a drive in Finder, it should only appear in iTunes and (if you have photos on the iPad that were taken with it, copied it to it via camera kit, saved from emails/websites) then it should also appear in iPhoto, Image Capture and Aperture so that you can copy them off.
But I think that you need iTunes 10.7+ to sync an iPad Mini running iOS 6, which I think requires OS X 10.6.8+

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Do you keep your data backed up?
If not, you should always do so*:
    http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html
You never know when a hard drive or a directory might go bad.  Having a bootable clone is a must.
That link also shows you some tools you can use to recover data.
If you aren't backed up, try buying those tools first, before attempting to repair the directory.
Directory issues can be fixed with these tools*:

Try cleaning the lens and see if that will restore functionality to the DVD drive.  Use a DVD lens cleaning disk, if you have a can of compressed air, shoot some into the slot or wrap a fine microfiber cloth (eyeglasses cleaning cloth)  around a business card and insert it gently inside the slot.
If no success, make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar and get a free diagnosis from them.

Not always but often it has trouble seeing the Airport and making a connection. I have an older Airport Express, would it help to install it? would it work best if it was installed in the same room? should it be installed half way in between? Get another Extreme? The Mac Book Pro on the middle floor can see 11 networks in the neighbourhood if that might be causing a problem or would if I installed the Express. Thank for your consideration.

I appologize for the font and colour, I compossed the question in pages and failed to notice the font colour as grey ... there are a variety of computers of various ages so I think it is using a setting that allows both 5G and 2.4 ... the connection to the Airport is thru a cable modem and cable does run throuhout the house ... maybe those hard wires would be a place to look at ... do you think that putting the 'Express' on the second floor might help ... thanks again ...

Setup Assistant and Migration Assistant do not restore MS Windows, it only does the OS X partition. All of your Windows stuff must be backed up and restore using a MS Windows application. If no one on this forum is able to answer your question then I'd repost it on a Parallels forum to see how other Windows users approach this.
