HI,
I did like below and this solution works fine.
as root user:
crsctl stop crs
rm -f /var/tmp/.oracle/*
crsctl start crs
Wait a few minutes (2-3 minutes) for crs to start. When crs_stat comes batch without "error connecting to CRSD", start the instance with srvctl (as the oracle user, not as root):
crsctl check crs
crs_stat -t
srvctl start instance -d databasename -i instancename
Thanks to rajesh in the below fourm.
Can't start instance by srvctl with error PRKP-1001 and CRS-0215
But i don't why should i remove the files inside in /var/tmp/.oracle directory.
Please share the details if anybody knows the reason.
Thanks to all.

  • TimeOutException - unable to create instance - after installing patch set.

    Hi,
We have Oracle 9iAS 9.0.2 (Release 2) running on Windows 2000 Server.
We are running EJB's on the server, these include Entity and Session Beans.
Last week on 13-March 2003 (Thrusday) we installed a PatchSet downloaded from "metalink.oracle.com".
NAME: PatchSet 1 for Windows NT
After installation we faced the following problem :
    1. Initial (first time) when an Entity Bean is called for a specific Primary Key, we are able to get the instance of the Bean.
    2. However for subsequent request to the same Bean, it is unable to create or find an instance for the Bean, throwing the following error :
"TimeOutException" - "unable to create instance"
    3. Though Step 1 and Step 2 are repeated on restarting OC4J_HOME.
We then uninstalled the Oracle 9iAS and reinstalled it without the PatchSet. On doing so, the above error did not occur.

    Badrul,
Try setting max-instances=0 for your EJB in the orion-ejb-jar.xml.

  • Urgent-Precalculation Service: Unable to create instance

    Gurus,
I did install the SAP BW Precalculation Service on my desktop and did configure the Precalculation Service under SPRO->Administrate Precalculation Server. And after all that, whenever I started the Precalculation Server (via services) from the desktop the server at the BW end used to turn green. Until here everything was working a week back BUT! I got on to it again today and when I try and start the service on my desktop, I get the following error:
<b>Application has generated an exception that could not be handled
    Process id=0xefc (3836), thread id=0X84c(2124).</b>
And when I try to uninstall (hoping I could re-install), I cannot even uninstall the same instead I get a different error:

Can someone throw light on this please?

  • Unable to create instance

Im running windows XP Professional all current updates
I have all of the latest updates on my laptop and I just downloaded the latest version of SQL Developer but when I try to open the program I receive this error “Unable to create an instance of the java virtual machine.”
Ive been looking at solutions all morning and to be honest I really don’t understand what they mean when they talk about AddVMOption -Xmx512M. I don’t know where to go to do this. Any ideas or other solutions??

Hi, I have the same problem. I downloaded 2.1.1 with JDK and I am local admin to my PC.
    The error popup was:
unable to create an instance of the java virtual machine located at path: ..\..\jdk\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll
    I googled around and tried:
    1. Copy C:\Program Files\sqldeveloper\jdk\jre\bin\server\jvm.dll to overwrite C:\Program Files\sqldeveloper\jdk\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll. Didn't help, reverted.
    2. Increase memory. My Computer -->Properties -->Advanced --> Performance (setting button) --> advanced --> virtual memory (change button) Didn't help.
    3. add C:\Program Files\sqldeveloper\jdk\jre\bin to the front of the PATH. Didn't help.
    And suggestions will be appreciated!
    Thanks,

  • Unable to create Instance with Object Editor and Attachment Pattern

    Hi Experts,
I created a simple entity service with some attributes and a document reference.
I also configured an object editor pattern and assigned a attachment pattern. The created object editor works as long as I don't attach a file. But if I attach a file and want to save it I get an error message "cannot create"
In the default log.trc I have some entries

I configured the j2ee engine according the tutorial "Integrating KM with CAF UI Patterns"
    So what is wrong?
    Best regards Manuel

    Hi,
From the stacktrace I assume that the following happens (please correct me, if I'm wrong):
<b>*</b> Some time based event mechanism sends an event to your custom event handler code. That code is execute in some system context.
<b>*</b> Your handler uses the RF API to create a collection. All this is perfectly OK. Here my assumptions end, the next steps are solid facts.
<b>*</b> Within the RF all property filters are informed that a resource is about to be created. One of the filters is trying to obtain a lock from a system provided Locking Service.
<b>*</b> That service refuses to grant the lock, telling that system users are not allowed to do so.
Most proably you cannot do anything to solve this problem by yourself. When I ran into the same Exception once, I could avoid to have my code run in a system thread. Well you might try to do the same.
Otherwise please open a customer message and complain about the restiction in the locking behaviour.
    Best regards,
    Michael

  • Restarting the db fails with PRKP-1001  and CRS-0215

    Hi,
i have a 2 node RAC, restarting the DB is not starting both the instances. only one instance is started.
    PRKP-1001 : Error starting instance inst1 on node nodexyz1
<nodexyz1.vip>:IP:<ip address> is already up in the network (host=nodexyz1)
<nodexyz1.vip>:IP:<ip address> is already up in the network (host=nodexyz1)
CRS-0215: Could not start resource 'ora.rac.inst1.inst'.
the above error is not consistant.... in the above case it started inst2 and failed to start inst1...
when i tried a couple of times... its failing to start inst2 and starting inst1 with the error against VIP on node2.
Even restarting the CRS did not solve the problem.
    Thanks
    Kranthi.

CRS socket become stale which refuse the connection from srvctl command.
    1. as oracle: srvctl stop nodeapps -n <node>
    2. as root: crsctl stop crs
    3. as root: rm /var/tmp/.oracle/*
    4. as root: crsctl start crs
this way new socket will be created and instance 2 on node 2 start properly via crs and srvctl command.

  • Can't start instance by srvctl with error PRKP-1001 and CRS-0215

We just create a database with Oracle10g RAC and ASM on 8 nodes, but only node1's instance can start up. What's wrong with the other nodes?
    The error is below:
    oracle@DBRAC01:~> srvctl status instance -i dbrac2 -d dbrac
Instance dbrac2 is not running on node dbrac02
    oracle@DBRAC01:~> srvctl start instance -i dbrac2 -d dbrac
    PRKP-1001 : Error starting instance dbrac2 on node dbrac02
CRS-0215: Could not start resource ora.dbrac.dbrac2.inst.
What should I do? Modify some configurations ?

Have you configured the required virtual IP addresses for the Instances? If no use Virtual IP Configuration Assistant (VIPCA) to do so. Your installtion guide should show how to do this.
If yes, see if you are hitting Bug 4337645.
The error message relates to the -s flag for the Oracle Cluster Registry (OCR). In Oracle 9.2, when the database was added to the OCR, the -s flag referred to the spfile. But in Oracle 10g, it indicates a database startup option.
With your example, assuming your directory is directory is /u01/oradata, the [DATABASE.DATABASES.mydb.START_OPTIONS] entry in the OCR will show something like ORATEXT : /u01/oradata/dbrac2/spfiledbrac2.ora
Correct this problem by modifying the startup option as below
    $ srvctl modify database -d dbrac2 -s open

We need to find out to which listener agent is attempting to connect. You can check the logs under $AGENT_HOME/sysman/log..you will should see the connect description in the log files, which should give you some kind of pointers.

Try reinstalling OS X. What version did you have installed? If it's Snow Leopard do this:
Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
    Do the following:
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install the Combo Updater for the version you prefer from support.apple.com/downloads/.

  • CRS-0215 after migration from 9i RAC to 10gR2 RAC

I'm doing a dry-run migration on a test server to prepare for our migration and have had no problem migrating the data from OCFS to OCFS2, startup upgrade, etc. The only problem I have is I cannot bring the listener up via 'srvctl start nodeapps -n <node_name>'. I get CRS-0215, could not start resource, listener may already be running. It isn't. If I just do "lsnrctl start", then the listener comes up, I execute "srvctl start nodeapps -n <node_name>" and the VIP, ONS, and GSD all come up fine with the same listener error. From there I can bring both nodes up and the database is fine. How can I get the listener to come up via srvctl?
I've tried netca and pretty much get the same problem. If I try to add a listener and leave it as LISTENER it says that LISTENER already exists, use another name. I don't want to use another name, I want to use that listener :) What am I missing here. Thanks for any help. Even if I use another name, it still fails.

    Hi,
    4 - Patch clusterware
    5 - Create ASM instance
    6 - Patch ASM instance
    7 - Install DB software
    8 - Patch DB software
9 - Run dbca (create DB)
    10 - run "crs_stat -t" to check status
you can run cluvfy before or after every step.
11 - migrate old DB to RAC

    Hello
I have a 2 node database and on the first node I can not start the instance using srvctl start instance it gives the following error: PRKP-1001 : Error starting instance htdb1 on node telepin1. When I start it using sqlplus it is ok.
    Can someone please explain?
    Thanks

Do you also see CRS-0215? There's a known problem , when parameter sqlnet.inbound_connect_timeout is set in sqlnet.ora, it should be unset. Unfortunately the error is a little bit generic, if this parameter is currently not set, you have another problem.

This is on a brand new installation of Oracle RAC at home on 2 desktop pc's using Jeff Hunter's article on OTN website for testing/playing with Oracle 10 RAC at home. I used netca (network configuration assistant) to configure the listener. So, the listener.ora file should be correct. I only have listener.ora and sqlnet.ora files. No tnsnames.ora file yet.
I don't have another client pc to connect to the server. This is a home based installation NOT connected to internet.
The metalink note suggested a solution but i am not that familiar with linux/unix to know how to enable the interfaces. I just rebooted the boxes to see if that would solve the situation. am going to try again.....
    thanks
